So I have a general policy of “never explain the joke”, but this time I will: the treacherous banana is an in-joke that references a book on childcare from 1897, written by a ridiculously bigoted man who had some really weird ideas about raising kids. You can find the passage here, but be warned that the entire book is full of absurd racism, sexism, other -isms, and horrible, horrible advice about childcare. Enjoy!
