Here's a preview of the first 2 minutes of the edit, compared to the tainted version. Keep in mind that these are the only changes in the video, everything after the logo stays the same.

For the record, the edit was done with TMPGEnc MPEG Smart Renderer, so only the parts that were different (and a couple of frames around the clip points) had to be reencoded. Everything else was simply copied, so the quality of this video is identical to the original most of the time. To help with the immersion, the episode number has been updated accordingly in the metadata using the same version of MKVToolNix that YayPonies used in 2016, and the mkv was edited to add the subtitles as optional tracks, like YayPonies used to do in season 6.

I had to use an old episode number for the edit, but when people talked about moving SoS to a different season, no one specified which episode should be removed. I ended up choosing this episode but, as I said, this isn't meant to be a definitive change, and anyone interested in this idea is absolutely free to use a different episode. Anyway, just for interest, here are my reasons to choose this episode:
Sounds of Silence specifically mentions Viva Las Pegasus, so the edit had to be placed after S06E20. For convenience, it would also be appropriate that the establishing shot of the removed episode had the Castle of Friendship. Finally, season 6 is usually considered worse than season 7, so having an extra good episode probably would make the season more enjoyable. ELTSD checks all the boxes, more so it's often considered a turning point since some people started disliking Starlight here. All in all, even though this was a sudden decision, I think I did the right thing.

Sparkle's Seven felt like it aired 7 seasons too late and was just another filler episode.
Like 3 princesses, 5 EoH and teachers and a prince and captain of the royal guard have nothing better to do than play CTF in their castle.
Plus it had this weird part of fixing/retconning Spike's role in the Sparkle family.
The good things I can say about it are that it was still one of the better episodes this season, even if that doesn't say much in this case, and was written by the VAs, proving that everyone else is more qualified than the nu-writers.

Still, I thought it took away a spot for a potential significant episode, back when I still believed they'd use the last season to tie up all the loose ends, and ultimately did nothing of any relevance compared to Frenemies, which set up the villain redemption arc that, as I said, was rendered pointless by the finale.

I did something similar a while back with She's All Yak. In it, Twilight talks about the Fetlock Fete as a Ponyville tradition and immediately erases the name because it's problematic to the nonponies. What's interesting is that most of the dialogue still refers to the original name so if you erase the initial scenes and make a few cuts, it flows really smoothly. Only questionable scenes are Rarity saying "Or whatever Twilight is calling it." I also left in one reference of Twilight referring to it as the amenity ball but if you take Sandbar saying it's a whole night of dances, it fits without any real questions.

I still had hope for season 9 when I did it. It did have potential up until The Last Crusade and The Last Laugh completely shat the bed on two important endings and only got worse from there there.
