Heading back to Ponyville was much more of a reward than anything else due to whom you were anticipating to be there. The train bumped and jostled you in your seat as you waited patiently and looked out the window to the passing fields and bright sky. You weren’t sure you would ever take a trip away for so long again. Once the train began to reach the station, things slowed and you could feel your heart begin to race. Would they even recognize you? Oh, why the dumb questions to worry yourself? It wasn’t that long away. Your mind continues to go back and forth as you get up and let most of the ponies walk ahead. Some end up nudging your legs aside to get by as you watch and smile to each one. The few friendly smiles you get back were a good welcome itself but the true gift was just outside. You knew it to be so. Eventually, you get enough room to move and follow along the heard while they empty out of the train car. Ponies by the dozens are out there either greeting their kin or just ready to board when there’s enough room. Your heart tries to stay afloat as you scan the surrounding area but find not a soul looking in your direction. Then you hear it. “There you are!” came Twilight’s playful voice from the side. Her bright eyes nearly sparkle as she looks up to you and trots close, a hoof pawing at your leg. “How was the trip?” You nearly start to explain before the pony leaps up and latches onto your chest as her legs hug around you as tight as they can. Her head buries into your neck while those beautiful, lavender wings span out then wrap around you both gently. It was hard not to cry. Every second being away from the mare you loved was agonizing but having her back in your arms and wanting to be as close to you as you did for her seemed to mend any and all wounds. Those fragile cracks sealed over and all was finally right again. Her mane brushed to your nose as you hugged her tightly and stayed that way as long as possible. Time could have very well stopped and you wouldn’t care. Equestria could be in a panic and just having her against you calmed everything and squelched every doubt. That purple nose nuzzled into the side of your neck as she giggled softly and landed a few kisses in her exploratory snootle bumps. “I missed you so much,” she whispered as you held her close and rest her head on your shoulder. “Want to walk me to our castle?” Our. She had called it both of yours. Your hand rubbed up along her back and between those wings as she shivered a bit then smiled while kissing your cheek. You return the favor and see the blush rising in her cheeks when several onlookers give wooing noises. If you didn’t know any better, you might have felt the same reaction though you didn’t ask. When you ask of what all has gone on while you were away, Twilight gives a soft tilt of her head and one of those, ‘You wouldn’t believe me if I told you’ looks. Instead of prying, you offer to grab your bag and carry your pony home. She can tell all the adventures another time if she liked. For now, you just wanted to spend time with just the two of you. On the way to the castle, Twilight let her body shift more comfortably against you and rest her head more against your chest and shoulder. Her soft breathing was extremely gently and soothed so worst of anything. You couldn’t help but love her. “I can hear your heart,” she said lightly and let out a swooning sigh. “I love it.” You grin and kiss the top of her head as you continue on the way. It doesn’t take too long for you to make it up to the large structure and attempt to struggle with the door. The door itself opens magically and you look to the pony in your arm as she winks playfully before you step inside. It hardly feels like you’re walking anymore. The whole scene just shifts around you as your eyes keep looking to the wonderful mare hugging close to you and nuzzling against your body. There are a few little pecks at your chin and neck as she kisses innocently to you while curling up in your arm to make it easier to hold her body. Her tail brushes back and forth along your leg while you return every kiss when you can, keeping yourself from toppling over horribly while climbing the stairs. Her giggles almost seem to give you life as you cradle her and keep ascending until finding her room. Well, both of yours. As you set the bag down at the door and head over to the bed, you can’t help but think of how wonderful it would be to lay down on a proper mattress and with nopony else other than the one you hold near and dear. Your feet do their best to kick your shoes off as Twi helps you untie each one magically. You almost want to just flop down but holding the purple alicorn prevents such a dramatic belly flop onto the sheets. Not like you wanted to scare her anyway with how sweet she was being. It was a little unceremonious to turn and drop your backside onto the bed with how quick it was, though the swift motion did make her give a tiny squeak then laugh. When you lean back, Twilight gets up and presses her soft hooves to your chest to guide you further. Her encouragement makes the whole ordeal impossible to resist, not like you planned to though. The sheets were cool to the touch and felt far better than anything you could have imagined. You were finally home again. There were several minutes that passed by as she lightly kneads your chest and shoulders with her hooves, smiling down to you and letting her mane drape low to tickle your nose and chin. It was a luxury no money could ever buy. If it was all dream you never wanted to wake up. You attempt to speak up for a second just to thank her before you feel her horn lightly touch to your lips like a finger in a shushing manner. “Sshh,” she coos and leans up to kiss your lips. It’s far beyond magic and more powerful than anything you’ve ever felt. You embrace the pony and kiss back while you two bond and keep the moment for as long as possible until she slowly pulls away. “Just relax for me, big guy.” You smile and agree while laying back and staying quiet as her hooves press to you and do their best to work out any sore or tense areas. She must have read up on plenty massage books for how meticulous she was being. Possibly even asked one of the spa twins to explain things better. Things were so calm and peaceful for once. “Now,” Twilight said quietly as she reached a foreleg up and press her hoof to your lips to keep you quiet, “I want you to know something very important, okay?” The stopping of the massage made you look up as she kept her gentle smile and leaned in closer. You could smell the soft and relaxing scent of lavender and couldn’t help but admire it more. The sweet mare obviously missed you as much as you missed her. “I want you to know,” she says as she lays down atop you carefully and lets her snootle touch to your nose, “I love you more than anything and always will.” You have a hard time keeping a straight face and smile wide as she pecks at your lips then lightly shakes her head from side to side. Her face scrunches slightly as she rubs her nose along your own giving the Eskimo kisses you had told her about a while back. It was adorable and sweet feeling her soft coat tease your nose and allow you to take in her soothing scent more. Her head pulled away soon as she rests down to you and listens to your heart once more. Those purple ears flick lightly when you tell her you missed her so much and that you wanted nothing more than to see her again. Her horn drew forth that magic you knew as you heard a small noise from the far corner of the room. There was a small wait of wondering what was going on until a tiny plush of your favorite pony gently sat nearby. Twilight giggled softly as she made it trot up and press the nose to your cheek as if kissing you before she tucked it under your arm. “I had it made just for you. I don’t want you ever being without me,” she mentions and nuzzles against your chest. “But for now, I’ll be the one to hug you. You do most of the hugging as it is.” With that, Twilight’s wings spread out without much sound as she let them drape over your both like a feathered blanket that smelled like her. It was comforting and so very sweet of her as you rub her sides and close your eyes. It didn’t matter what time it was. The only thing that mattered was having Twilight in your life and keeping her near for as long as you possibly could. You loved her and she loved you.
