Be sure and look at his other works, too: http://postitsketchdump.tumblr.com/post/147790134154/quick-30-minute-sketch-for-lore-love-he-wanted >the evening had been getting longer due to the season >Twilight had noticed her usual sessions spent in books gave her more daylight to read by >silently, she thanked Celestia for the cozy warmth to read with >it had been a while since her friends had been needed for some sort of problem >being able to relax in her castle was certainly a little welcome, though often a bit lonely at times >with Spike taking his own time out of the castle, Twilight was left with plenty of empty space >the thoughts and feelings of any slight loneliness only lasted for a bit before getting lost in her books once more >every bit of information let her take her own relaxation away from things >the purple princess propped herself up against the desk, resting her head in her hooves while she read >silence was broken only gently by every page turn as her eyes seemed to be the only things moving >it wasn't long until the alicorn flicked an ear at hearing the door to the castle open >thinking that Spike had come back from his own little walk, Twilight stayed with her face buried in the book >a little bit later, the sound of hooves made the soft clippity clops down the halls until they were right at her door >”Twilight, dear,” came the voice of Rarity, “whatever are you doing all cooped up in this castle alone?” >the studious alicorn gave a small smile before turning to see her friend standing in the doorway >”Oh, I'm just enjoying the calm moment,” Twilight stated >the two exchange pleasantries a bit before Rarity walked forward and glanced around >”Aren't you just a little lonely in here?” the white unicorn asked, raising her brow >as much as she didn't like to admit it, the princess of friendship had been more than a little lonely, even if there was time to do as she wished >time to read or not, perhaps she did want at least a little bit of company >”We should do something together, Twilight!” Rarity exclaimed, starting pace back and forth >the excited nature of her friend had the princess a little more happy that somepony stopped by >suggestions came up ranging from shopping to sleepovers >it all sounded rather fun to the lavender pony, but she had no time to answer >the sound of her empty stomach making quite the audible rumble had Twilight blushing and giving a sheepish smile >”Sorry about that,” the embarrassed mare said, “I guess I didn't realize ho-” >the white hoof to her muzzle was enough to quiet the purple pony as Rarity shook her head >”My word, dear! You must be simply famished! We can't have that!” Rarity declared with a pout >Twilight tried to talk through the hoof but smiled and let her friend speak more >”I simply can't have my friend starve! That's what we'll do! We can have a nice meal together,” the unicorn said, giving a nod >once the hoof moved away, Twilight giggled and agreed >some food sounded better the more she thought about it >if it wasn't for her stomach, she may have eventually come around to grabbing something to snack on >that was, if she could manage to pull herself away from the book >”So, what will we have?” Twilight asked, giving a small stretch and watching her friend >Rarity tapped a hoof to her chin in thought, seemingly looking in the corner of the room before making a noise >”Aha! I know just the place we could both enjoy,” Rarity said >the idea of going someplace interested Twilight already >”You won't be cooking?” the alicorn asked, giving a light smile >it seemed that the question caught the unicorn off-guard as she looked a little worried >”I just… rather not cook, dear,” came the answer >the inquisitive look from Twilight made Rarity give a quick shrug and look to the side >”Sweetie Belle was in the kitchen today,” Rarity added onto her answer >giving a giggle, Twilight nodded and agreed that a meal from a restaurant might be just what she needs >they nearly managed to leave the room before the white mare had let out a gasp and turned around to face the princess >”I know just the outfit!” Rarity said, magically pulling over a rather handy folding screen, adorned in cherry blossoms >almost as soon as it had been pulled forward, it retracted to reveal Rarity wearing a purple and pearl white kimono >her hair had been done in a lovely bun with two large hair sticks keeping it in place >”Uh, Rarity?” Twilight said, rather confused >”Oh, we're going to the new little restaurant called the 'Hayjing Palace' that I heard makes some very lovely dishes,” the dressed up pony said >Twilight gave a worried expression before lifting a hoof to indicate the dress >”I think that might be a bit much, Rare,” the alicorn told her >”Hmm, I suppose you're right,” her friend replied >Rarity magically pulled the kimono free and gently draped it over the folding screen >once the two hair sticks slid out and were placed aside, she gave her head a small shake, flicking her mane back into its original flair >the move got an impressed look from Twilight >the two headed out and began making small talk along the way >things they've done, what's been going on, just simple catching up with one another >with the place being on the outskirts at the opposite end of town, they had time to just enjoy the company of each other as well >it had been a while for Twilight to just have a friend around and not be in need of mending friendships or saving Equestria >the walk lasted a nice bit, but it felt good to stretch her legs >sitting in the same spot for so long had nearly made the poor alicorn sore >she made a mental note to try and take small breaks to stretch a bit more often >soon enough, they managed to reach their destination >”We're here~” Rarity sang out, letting the last word carry on some >it was a very inviting looking building with the aesthetics of those Twilight had seen in photos of other areas over the globe >the moment the door opened from Rarity's magic, the smell of all the food being freshly prepared permeated the air >it was almost enough to make the princess drool >sounds of ponies talking and food being stir fried on a giant wok in the back seemed to set quite the atmosphere >wasn't long before they were seated in a booth and pulling over menus that were set nearby >looking over the vast array of different vegetables and noodles to order almost had the alicorn unable to decide >when their waiter arrived, Twilight looked up from her menu to see what he friend would order >perhaps hearing something would help her decide >”Are you ready to order?” the waiter asked, looking between them >Rarity glanced up and saw her friend giving a rather uncertain look >one more skim over the menu and Rarity used her magic to put both of them down, giving a smile to Twilight >”Yes, I think we'll take the special of the 'noddles-for-two-dles' of vegetable ramen,” Rarity said to the waiter >the waiter gave a nod, smile, and told them he would be back soon >”This place is really nice, Rarity,” Twilight told her while taking in all the sights around her >the unicorn gave a knowing nod, smiling happily that she had picked out a spot her alicorn friend seemed to like >time passed by a bit quickly once they began talking again >small bits knowledge, some tiny amounts of gossip, and then came their food before they knew it >their bowls were set down in front of both of them as the waiter wished them a good evening and moved on >Rarity seemed to already be magically lifting the two chopsticks and removing the hoof-strap that came with them >Twilight watched her for a minute, seeing the sticks stay at just an angle to stir the noodles and then lift some up with the grace only Rarity could do >before eating, the unicorn gave an awkward look to the purple mare >”Are you not hungry now, darling?” the white pony asked, hovering a portion of her meal just before her muzzle >”Oh! I was just watching how you use those,” Twilight said, doing her best to not stare and begin following the same procedure >or, at least trying to >the alicorn magically removed the strap for her hoof, possibly for those without magic, and nearly plunged the sticks into the bowl >her tongue slipped out as she furrowed her brow in concentration, trying to bring up the strange utensils with enough food to warrant using them >she had read about ponies in other parts of the world using such things, but never thought she would be one to use them as well >it did take quite the finesse to properly wield the items to gather her food, but she eventually managed to draw up a nice bit of noodles >without waiting any longer, Twilight leaned in and tilted her head to the side, nearly licking at the dangling pasta >Rarity raised her brow at the sight before her, but smiled and nearly ended up giggling >the princess of friendship had never tried working with such things before >Twilight lifted the chopsticks higher before tilting her head back and just lowering the noodles into her mouth >one bite done! >the taste of the meal was nothing short of amazing for her >flavors from all the vegetables seemed to have soaked into them and made it all that much better >unable to help herself, Twilight let out a soft moan of approval as she savored the meal a bit more >the unicorn across the table finally let out a little titter of a giggle, glancing to her hungry friend >”It is rather delicious, is it not?” Rarity mentioned, working the chopsticks around until she had another portion before her >Twilight let her wings give a small flutter as she swallowed the noodles and looked down at her bowl >there were so many of them in there! >she wondered how she might be able to properly use the sticks to gather more before sticking them in and giving a twirl in her meal >the noodles wrapped to the utensils, for the most part >drawing up the more plentiful serving to her muzzle, Twilight quickly tucked it in her mouth and smiled >the few noodles left outside her mouth gave her a more foal-like quality as she ate >in a quick draw of her breath, the princess slurped the noddles up quickly and licked her lips >looking up, she saw Rarity making a rather annoyed expression and blushed >”Sorry,” the purple alicorn said softly, unable to hide her nervous smile >Rarity could only hold her annoyance for so long until she gave a tender laugh >”Oh, it's quite alright. You're far more hungry than I had thought,” the unicorn said, pulling up a small cloth >the item hovered over to Twilight's side of the table before moving up and dabbing at her lips >”Always keep yourself clean while you eat. You're a princess, after all,” Rarity mentioned, giving a sweet smile >princess or not, Twilight still thanked her for the help and resumed trying her best to eat her ramen >a few more attempts were made, most of which ended up with her having to restart and grab more noodles >it eventually came down to the lavender mare lifting the bowl close to her face and almost spooning the contents into her mouth >compared to her friend, Twilight was practically shoveling her food into her muzzle >there were still slurps being made, though she hardly cared at times >the broth was just as delicious as the noodles, beanstalks, and more >once she set the bowl down, she finally seemed to be a little more calm with her meal >getting some food in her stomach had been just what she needed, and with a friend, no less >”Here,” Rarity spoke up, setting down her own chopsticks >the unicorn lightly took Twilight's own utensils and carefully lifted her bowl >”You want to not get too much, but not too little, either,” the unicorn told her >with her bowl hovering before her, Twilight watched as Rarity stirred the contents before positioning the sticks and pinching the ends >lifting them up brought a nice bit of the noodles along >a soft bob to shake excess broth and Rarity brought the food up to her friend's mouth >hesitantly, Twilight opened up and let Rarity feed her like a mother would a foal >”There~ It just takes a little getting used to is all,” the marshmallow colored mare told her, setting down the bowl and sticks back on the table >Twilight was still blushing a bit from the feeding, but it was awfully nice of Rarity to help >she took a moment to lift the chopsticks once again and do her best at mimicking the actions she was shown >it took several more attempts until she finally got close to it >Rarity even gave her hooves a little clapping clop in a cheer for her >Twilight ate a few more bites in that manner before tilting her head and just lifting the bowl again >once more, she began spooning the food into her mouth, though taking small portions to eat at least >the two looked to each other once the bowl lowered, Rarity giving a playful smile then roll of her eyes >”Yes, I suppose that works just as well,” she teased, smiling wider and putting a hoof to her mouth as she giggled >Twilight joined in the small bit of laughter before resuming to eat >not much was spoken between them as they ate, both more focused on the food for a while >near the end of their meal, it was Twilight breaking the mild silence with a thank you >”Oh, you don't have to thank me, Twilight! It was my pleasure to bring you and share a little evening with my dear friend,” Rarity told her >the kind words made the alicorn smile and end up thanking her once again >they finished their meals shortly after, Rarity offering generously to pay while she let Twilight have her food settle >being lead outside had the princess give a soft, happy sigh >it felt nice to do something so simple as have a meal with a friend >something she rarely got to do as of late >the two of them took their time in walking back to the castle >they shared more between each other, talking of new lines of dresses and hidden spells within scrolls >both of them seemed genuinely interested in what the other had to say, listening intently and offering comments here or there >by the time they reached the castle doors, Rarity looked up to the sky, noticing the sun setting and Luna about to begin the night >”As much as I do wish I could stay, I must head home, Twilight. Got to make sure Sweetie Belle didn't try to cook my fabrics,” Rarity joked >they both gave a soft laugh >”Promise we can do this again soon?” Twilight asked >”Oh, of course! How would day after tomorrow sound?” the unicorn inquired, blinking expectantly >”That sounds perfect! Thank you, Rarity,” the purple mare said, leaning in and wrapping a foreleg around her friend >the hug was met and reciprocated as they stood at the castle entrance >neither one verbally stated it, but it was clear they both needed that >”Any time, darling,” Rarity said lightly and gave one more hug >they exchanged their farewells and waved hooves at each other before the white unicorn headed off back to her local boutique >Twilight opened one of the doors and stepped into the large castle, taking a deep breath and letting it out >she was silly to think she was lonely >she had her friends that cared about her and loved her as much as she did for them >the smile on her muzzle was one that wouldn't leave her as she got herself ready for bed once she made her way to the bedroom >slipping on her pajamas, she couldn't help but think of inviting the girls over for a sleepover again >it had been a while since she attempted one of those >wriggling into the sheets of her bed, Twilight kept on smiling >she couldn't wait to see where Rarity would take her day after tomorrow >she was so lucky to have such amazing friends >with that, the tired alicorn gave a yawn and began to slowly drift to sleep >thoughts of her friends filled her mind and kept her rest a peaceful one >she couldn't be happier
