For more stories, visit my FIMfic! https://www.fimfiction.net/user/131106/LoreLove This was inspired by Post-it and a long discussion in chat over ponies acting like pet animals such as a dog or cat but still sapient. I liked the idea way too much to pass up. Also, not for the story, but somewhat related, check out this cute drawing Post did: http://postitsketchdump.tumblr.com/post/149166454244/delivery-for-the-nightly-twilight-thread >you weren't even sure how long you had her around >the thought just simply never crossed your mind >in fact, it had been absolutely great ever since you had the purple pony trotting around the home >of course, she didn't understand some things, but that didn't stop her from trying to learn >speaking made a lot of it easier >it also helped keep things from being lonely >before work, you had told her to not open the door for anybody >you would be home later and she could freely help herself to any food around >although, that may have been a slight mistake when you came home the first day >torn wrappers for a few candy bars and a mostly empty bag of chips littered the living room floor >the television had been left on and the little pony was munching away in the armchair >several chips levitated near her before she noticed your presence and magically shut off the TV >”Oh! You're home!” she said happily, hopping down and trotting over to you quickly >you couldn't even be mad with how excited she looked now that you had returned >her head tilted up as she sat before you and smiled wide >”I was starting to get worried. I hope you don't mind, but I was getting hungry and found your food,” she began explaining >you tell her it's okay and made a note to buy her some real food soon >it wasn't hard to figure out things she liked, especially with how verbal she could be >since then, she had managed to easily make do when you had to step out >every once in a while, you couldn't help but see her act far more playful than you expected >it also seemed to warm your heart at how she reacted to small requests at tricks >holding your hand down to her and asking her to shake yielded quite a cute response >she would look up with those adorable, violet eyes and wiggle her rear for a moment before pressing her snout into your palm >maybe you were to blame for that last bit after letting her eat out of your hand on plenty of occasions >you had found she really enjoyed reading after thinking she was sleeping while you were watching TV >turning on closed captions ended up perking up her head as she watched the screen in rapt attention >you couldn't keep from smiling as you watched her turn her head just barely for each line >once there was a break, she finally blinked and looked back to face you >”How did the words appear?” she asked curiously >her tail swiped back and forth as she laid on the carpet, awaiting your answer >it may have taken more effort than you thought, but you did get the idea through to her >”So, a stenographer for the television?” Twilight inquired >you had to think for a moment before accepting it was close enough for the little horse >she sure was a bright one on picking up on things >it was easy enough to figure out little gifts for her after that >the alicorn was elated to hear you had picked up a book for her >as much as you wanted to give her plenty of information, you decided to start easy >Jules Verne was a good author she could get acquainted with >bringing it home had made her beam at seeing it before galloping a circle around you >”You're the best!” she shouted, bouncing around and stopping briefly to lean against your leg and rub against it >it melted your heart when she gave praise >you had to give her a few affectionate pets for that >while she took it, you let her trot over to the sofa and hop up >you hadn't even made it across the room and she was muzzle deep in the book >it was hard to resist loving on her when she was settled in to read >her forelegs tucked under her and the book opened on the surface before her >those big, beautiful eyes took in everything they could on those pages >a few time, you had requested she read to you >the first time had caught her a bit off guard, but she quickly did so >ever since, she was very happy to do so for you >she did ask once or twice if you were capable of reading on your own >mentioning you enjoyed hearing her voice had her stare down at the book >you could have sworn you saw a bit of a blush >during those reading times, she seemed enjoy it when you ran your hand down her mane and along her back >every time you pet her it always calmed you >her coat was so soft and somehow seemed so very clean all the time >there was a hint of lavender about her too >you found the latter out when she had crawled into your bed one night and cuddled right up against your chest >probably the most relaxed sleep you could have asked for >since then, she always slept with you >nights were never left with you tossing and turning >waking up to that soothing scent and soft mane in your face did make it harder to get out of bed, though >as much as you didn't want, you still needed to provide for the both of you >thankfully, Twilight understood and was always there to greet you when you came home >catching her reading or rummaging through snacks and spoiling her little appetite still happened >she may have found a guilty pleasure in enjoying chips here and there >the most you could scold her was telling her you weren't sure how good they were for her >but you didn't forbid her from them entirely >just a more lenient take on the crispy potatoes >finding half a bag gone after just buying it wasn't a healthy habit for a pony >using them as treats made for a few amusing reactions >crinkling the bag while the little alicorn was in another room sent her running to where you were >if it was the kitchen, you sometimes saw her slide into your legs or past you across the tile >any other room and she planted herself down right in front of you >it was hard to deny her of anything the way she looked up at you expectantly >holding a single chip had her become even more attentive >just saying the word had her repeat it back adorably >”Chip?” she'd ask, tilting her head and smiling as she waits >she always won you over in the end >a master tactician at going for the heart >when tossing it, she would usually catch it magically and chomp it out of the air >it had become a fun little thing to do from time to time >eventually, Twilight found it was okay to hop up onto your lap when you sat down >she may not have been extremely graceful, but her wings helped steady herself >they would quickly tuck back against her as she lowered down and nearly plopped onto your legs >it didn't take long for her to float a brush over to you as she leaned in a bit and tilted her head back to face you >”Please?” she would ask nicely, blinking and letting her ears fold back >how could you refuse? >evenings had plenty of those moments >whether the television was low or off didn't matter >the smart little pony would certainly get her mane brushed and sometimes read to you as you did >you couldn't have guessed how relaxing it was, but it had easily helped you rest your mind by running your fingers lightly through the pink-striped mane >listening to her read tales of Sherlock Holmes or Phileas Fogg was quite the cherry on top >she didn't seem very picky on any way you brushed her mane or tail, just so long as it wasn't in the opposite direction >you had been able to surprise her a few times when getting up by pulling her to you and picking her up >hugging her to your chest ended up having her hooves give little kicks while she looked around, trying to see you >”Wh-where are we going?” she asked, the waver in her voice telling you she was a little worried >it was easy to calm her by just giving a light hug and setting her down onto the floor >she only seemed wary after the first couple of times >you let her know right away you wouldn't hurt her >even offered to give her a kiss or two to make up for scaring her >giggling and smiling, she would lightly press a hoof to your chest or cheek >”No, I'm fine~” she would state, not exactly trying to keep you away >she was cute when she was embarrassed >whether or not she put a hoof up to playfully hold you back, she would always give in >”Thank you,” the little alicorn would say as she flicked her ears >you loved her dearly and she knew that for sure >eventually, you had made an investment in getting a large beanbag chair >Twilight had been pretty excited at seeing the seat, giving it curious nudges with a hoof >her usual napping spot on the sofa or your bed suddenly became the beanbag within days >often times, you would find her curled up and nestled in the cushion with a book on the floor nearby >giving her a pet along the head and soft rub to an ear would stir the pony from her slumber >it was precious seeing her yawn and stretch out on top of the beanbag chair >purple forelegs stretching in front of her as that back gave a little arch and those wings splaying out some >if there was room, you would have just laid down with her and passed out as well >luckily, the bed was plenty big for you both to cuddle up on >she loved getting nice and snug with you and having you hold her >waking up with her laying over your chest or behind you and resting her head over your neck was always wonderful >the little pony seemed to be very attached to you >she helped make the bed and with other things around the house >quite the littler helper and cute company >one day, you decided to give her another treat instead of chips after making yourself a peanut butter sandwich >you called to Twilight who was possibly perched on her beanbag chair >yes, it was all hers by now >when she trotted into the kitchen, you knelt down and held up the jar to let her see what you had to offer >you would have grabbed a spoon for her, but another idea popped into your head >with one finger, you scooped a bit out and held it out for her >the always curious pony gave it a few sniffs before sticking her tongue out and licking at the treat >her expression slowly changed before she licked it again and again >you let her continue before asking if she wanted to take it off your finger >the moment she opened that cute muzzle you reached forward and pressed the clump of peanut butter to the roof her of maw >her face looked confused before she closed her mouth and stared at you for a moment >she may not have initially liked the action, but her tongue made repeated dips out of her mouth >there was no way you could keep from smiling at her >you could even make out a small sound from each lick when her muzzle opened >something like a 'mlem' or some such >Twilight seems a little less than amused at your chuckling >still, she ends up smiling and sits herself down to savor the sticky snack stuck to the roof of her mouth >you pull her in and hug her while she keeps making those noises over your shoulder >then you hear it much closer and feel something wet press to your ear >surprised, you lean back to look at Twilight who in turn simply gives a bit of a sassy look >you rubbed at your ear, laughing at how she got you back and sit there with her while she continued on >she learned from that one, clearly >couldn't sneak another treat in there like that again >she did scrunch her little muzzle up when you kissed her nose, though >a few touches to her snout had led to more playful antics >her reactions ranged from cute scrunches to sticking her tongue out, or even giving you a nickname and trying to get you to chase her >”Oh, no! It's the Snootle Booper!” she would say, hopping up and quickly running out of the room with a big smile >not following right away drew her back to peek around the corner >if it wasn't for her horn and ear, she may have been a bit more sneaky at times >cornering her on the bed usually ended up with her leaning close down to the mattress and that flank swaying behind her >the pony would bounce and bound from one end to the other as she waited for you to get up there with her >she really loved the play wrestling you did, rolling her over or just grabbing a hoof and letting her pull free >soon enough, you would have her on her back and giggling constantly >a few rubs to her exposed stomach and she would start to calm down, tilting her head back and lightly kicking her hind legs in the air >”That feels nice,” Twilight said, closing her eyes and relaxing >you took the vulnerable mare's moment to lean in and press your mouth to her stomach >before she could even ask what you were doing, you quickly blew a raspberry >her hips wiggled as she laughed and lightly pawed at your head with her hooves >”No! Stop!” she would laugh out, “It tickles!” >you obliged and rubbed the area carefully, letting her settle back down once again >it was always great to be home with her >so great, you had asked if she ever got lonely while you were away >she seemed reluctant to say so but ended up admitting it was a bit too quiet without you >not one to have your precious Twilight be so alone, you opted to bring her a friend >one day you brought home another little friend for you wonderful purple mare >she was a very lovely looking one with a curled, purple mane and marshmallow colored coat >you could already tell she was going to be a bit different to handle >when you brought her home, she simply sat in front of the door and looked back to you, waiting for you to open it >despite her being a unicorn, it seemed she didn't want to go through much effort if help was present >you opened it open and let Rarity inside, allowing her to scour the house on her own while you made your way to Twilight's beanbag >there she was, curled up and sleeping soundly >gently waking her, you inform her of the news and kiss her brow, narrowly avoiding her horn, and let her hop off to go greet her friend >you follow along and help search for the other pony throughout the house >the search ends when you see the white mare almost digging at your sheets with her hooves >she seems to interested to get at what's beneath the covers that she doesn't notice Twilight move up >the second those purple forelegs prop up on the edge of the bed, Rarity gives a light startle before sitting down >”Hi! I'm Twilight,” greeted the alicorn >”Mm, yes. Rarity,” replied the new mare >the two looked each other over before starting up conversation and pretty much hitting it off >you were pleasantly surprised at the quick acceptance of one another >it wasn't long for the unicorn to make herself at home >Twilight still kept her beanbag chair while Rarity ended up claiming the sofa >just like Twi, the marshmallow pony also wished for her mane to be brushed at times >although, it was a different endeavor with her >had to be a specific amount and along a certain area for her mane and tail to retain their shape >you did find it rather cute how she was so specific >one night, you had decided to grab some chips and share them with the girls >thing was, the bag was almost entirely devoid of the snack >walking into the living room, you saw Twilight reading her new book and Rarity laying on the sofa, watching the TV >just as you were about to get onto the purple alicorn, you noticed something a bit off along Rarity's snout >the powdered dust flavor peppered her cute muzzle around the sides as she stared ahead >walking closer and you could tell those sapphire eyes were giving small glances to you >the idea of teasing her was too good to pass up >you sat down next to her and shook the bag a bit, asking if she cared for a snack >Twilight was eager to take up the offer, getting up to move to you and sit down >”Chip?” she asked cutely, tilting her head and placing a hoof to your knee >there were only a few left in the bag, but you weren't about to deny the cute pony >reaching in, you look directly at Rarity who turns away, scrunching her powered muzzle >you chuckle and hold out your hand to Twilight, letting her eat out of your palm while looking up at you >it always had a light tickle when she did that, even kissing your palm once she got her treat >you ask again if perhaps the unicorn on the sofa wanted some >”Hmph. I wouldn't dream of eating such a thing that's bad for my figure!” she declared >it was impressive how much she wanted to keep up the act >giving up on pressing the issue, you ate the rest and got back up, giving Twilight a few pets >Rarity accepted them here and there >just only lightly if it was along her mane >you smile and head off before turning and tapping your cheek, telling the white mare she had a little something on her muzzle >the shocked expression when she dabbed a hoof to her mouth and saw the flavored powder was priceless >you went and got a washcloth, getting it damp before returning and gingerly cleaning the pony's face >she wasn't too happy about it, but she accepted the help >you had made sure to be careful and not scrub hard >when you cleaned her hoof off, she whispered a small thanks before nosing to your cheek >it didn't take much explaining to inform her not to munch on snacks so much >she agreed, folding her ears back and looking down >”I'm sorry,” Rarity said pitifully, giving puppy dog eyes when she glanced up >act or not, you had no way of being angry at her for just a snack run that went a tad too far >you tell her it's fine and kiss her nose before giving some love to Twi who giggles in response >it appeared that they got along rather well >no complaints from either upon arriving home each day >there was one day in particular you got to leave early and found something interesting >you wanted to surprise the girls for being home a bit earlier and sneaked up to the door, quietly opening the door >when you got inside, you noticed Rarity sobbing on the sofa while hovering the remote nearby >a glance at the television showed some cheap soap opera playing as she whined about some actor and actress >looking to the beanbag chair, you noticed Twilight reclined back in it, hind legs sticking out in front of her >a book was propped up on her stomach and held in place by her front hooves as she read carefully, somehow able to tune out the sobbing mare >after a minute, Twilight looked up and noticed your confused look before giving a small glance to Rarity >”Oh, she gets like that during her show,” the alicorn said simply, her hind legs giving small hoofy-kicks when you rubbed her belly >”But why-hy-hy-hy?!” cried the drama mare >you stifled a small laugh and pulled out a handkerchief then offered it to her >”Oh, yes. Thank you,” Rarity said simply, breaking away from her sobbing session to magically bring the cloth up and dab the corners of her eyes >you nearly took it back before she pressed it to her snout and made a comical trumpet noise for blowing her nose >the tears she had shed for the show had managed to mark her coat a bit of a darker color, almost seeming like running mascara or eyeliner >letting her continue to enjoy the show, you softly pet her mane and back, patting lightly before asking dear Twily if Rarity did that daily >”She does, but sometimes she likes to curl up on your bed for naps,” the studious little alicorn mentioned >you chuckled and nodded, petting the mare with the pink stripe in her mane before continuing on >it wasn't the only time you had come home early and found the two doing something odd >on another day, you wanted to surprise the two with some gifts you picked up on your way home >a book, some tea, and chips >opening the door quickly, you instantly caught sight of the marshmallow colored pony on her back on the carpet >her body squirmed from side to side as she made cute little huffs and grunts before you cleared your throat >the pony scrambled upright, sitting before you with a foreleg raised and her mane a bit frazzled >”...What?” she said simply >you smiled and helped brush her mane back in order as best you could before announcing you had gifts >Twilight came bounding into the room, smiling wide and prancing around you eagerly >her cheek and the side of her body kept brushing against your legs and quickly had Rarity join in as they circled around >the moment you commented about a book, the purple pony stopped and stared up at you, eyes shining brightly >even though she had magic, the mare sat back and lifted up to present her forelegs to you >”Can I have the book, please?” Twilight asked politely >she had such sweet manners >Rarity probably played a part in that, teaching her a few things while you were out >placing the book between her front hooves, the purple pony grasps it and hugs it to her chest before beaming a smile up at you >”Thank you!” she says and drops to all fours, levitating the book under a wing and trotting in place to see what you got her friend >next from the back came a box of some herbal tea you figured dear Rarity might enjoy >she stopped and looked at the box, tilting her head and giving a small nod >”You did very well,” she congratulated you, then added, “Thank you so very much” >you told them both they were welcome and offered to make some of the tea, should she want any >getting told she can do it herself almost worried you, but you push it aside and reveal the shared gift >the crinkling of the bag has Twily's ears flicking as she stares and stamps her hooves against the tile, mimicking a clap for you >Rarity, surprisingly, widens her eyes before feigning a cough and holding a hoof to her muzzle >still wanting to impress, but the temptation was there >”I should go make some tea,” the white unicorn stated, taking the box with her and daintily trotting to the kitchen >you think about following her but instead turn to Twilight >a quick motion and your finger boops her nose softly as she gives a playful gasp and sets the book aside >”The Snootle Booper!” she called out, scampering away with a laugh >chasing after, you follow along and roll on the floor with her in the living room >various hugs and nuzzles were exchanged as she gladly enjoys the bit of fun >she even managed to give a few playful growls before giggling in a fit >once you got her to roll onto her back, you moved over and rubbed her belly as she relaxed >then came the raspberry, making the sound loud and clear within the house as it tickled her stomach >you give another before stopping mid-way and notice Rarity staring at the sight >her eyes give a sarcastic roll before she smiles and trots over, placing her muzzle against your neck >the feeling and sound of her very own raspberry against your neck makes you laugh out and try moving away >suddenly, both mares gang up on you, repeating it on your neck, arms, even your own stomach when one nosed under your shirt >it was far too much for you as you had to quickly give in and denounce your reign as the Snootle Booper >for the time being >every night gave you such wonderful rest >Twilight would mostly manage to nestle herself in your arms and against your chest >Rarity, who you found out sometime had just a hint of vanilla to her coat, preferred to wear a sleep mask to bed >that didn't stop her from cuddling up either in the crook of your knees or directly against your neck >sometimes even using your forehead as a pillow >they were adorable together, precious in tandem, and perfection combined >these two mares were the best in the world >you weren't sure how you got as lucky as you did >days, nights, and through all the seasons, you knew at least one thing was certain >that your life was much better with them in it
