It had been filling, but only by the definition of the word. >A few hours ago, after a particular bad day for business, or week, rather, I had finally given in to my hunger. >The pain that never left my mind, and eventually won the battle. >Reduced to desperation, I wanted to eat something, anything to reduce the pain. >And so I ate. >I ate the mud. I ate the mud at my hooves until my stomach finally stopped screaming, tears streaking down my face. >And here I was, rolled up in a ball to sooth the pain my stomach made as it realized I had tricked it, and it was still without a meal. >It wasn't the only pain I felt, all of my body had something to complain about. >Ponyville.... was not a good place for whores. >It had a large number of family orientated, married stallions. >Few were single. >And even fewer were desperate enough to resort to your services. >And after the few that WERE desperate enough got their fill, they often didn't return. >Most of my money was made from stallions only passing through the small town. >Visitors, often with no incentive to at least keep me healthy enough for the next one. >My eyes constantly watered, probably from an infection. >Or maybe I just couldn't deal with it. >No matter how much I tried, each session took away a little part of me I didn't know I had left. >It never got easier to do, it just hurt less each time. >And yet, somehow my body didn't want to give up. >My heartbeat was irregular, I could hardly remember the last time I ate, I had broken bones and bruised muscles... >How was I still able to breathe? >Slowly, I close my eyes for the night. I didn't care if I opened them up tomorrow, or not. >The sound of rain dulls as sleep takes hold over my body, and slowly the pain seeps away. >Everything gets quieter, the rain, the footsteps running towards me, the... >Wait, footsteps? >I barely have time to open my eyes before something comes crashing into my side, ripping apart my soaked box effortlessly. >Winded, and my ribs screaming in pain, I roll into a nearby puddle. >I hear a loud splash of some massive creatures falling into a puddle nearby. "Uggh..." >"Owww, oh jeez, did I knock over somebody?" >Some'body'? >"Hey, Miss? Are you alright?" >I am not alright. I can't remember the last time I've been alright. I just let out a groan out in response. >I hear him approach me, and I force my eyes open to see him. In the dim light, I can just barely make out his figure. >He's unlike anything I've ever seen. A tall, massive creature somehow balancing on two legs with two long arms hanging down from near the top of his body. >At first I though he was a Minotaur, but his face is too wrong for that. No horns or large years, his face is unusually flat. >He kneels down next to me (at least, I think he's kneeling) and reaches for me. >I'm paralyzed with fear, I want to run away and hide but before I can he's already got me in his hands. >Hands. >He's... Holding my head upright, out of the puddle with one hand, and using the other to feel my fur. >"God, I'm so sorry. I was running home to get out of this rain, and I guess I didn't see were I was going..." >I force out a smile. At least he wasn't trying to hurt me intentionally... "I-It's f-fine." I say, only now realizing I'm shivering. >"No, it's not fine. Now you're all muddy and... Hey, I'm sure you're busy, but my house is just up ahead, maybe you can come with me and clean off?" >My eyes go wide at the prospect of getting clean. >Is... Is this my lucky break? >Or am I going to be lured into a strange creature's home, and raped, eaten or both? >I look to my box, the tattered remains of it at least. >I sigh. Even if he was going to do that, it wouldn't be much worse than getting hypothermia out here. >I nod my head in agreement, and try to raise myself on my hooves. >Putting pressure on my left forehoof, I let out a light yelp in pain as it collapses underneath me and I fall back into the mud. >Was it sprained? Broken? >"Oh man, I didn't know it was that bad. Here, mind if I..." >You yelp in surprise as the creature puts both arms underneath you, and hoists you into the air. >It appears I'm being carried. >I take one last look longlingly at my box, and the creature follows my gaze. >"Crap, I broke the box you were carrying. Want me to-" "Leave it" I respond. "There's no point." >The creature just shrugs in response, and begins the walk home. This time with me in his arms.
