>Question 104 >How long are the things on your hooves.... >Holding your head, you cross it out as you move to the next question. >You let out a small sigh, deciding you're done with her questions for the moment. >Twilight Sparkle is already an interesting character. >No one has really wanted to know you as a species but in a way you feel slightly honored. >Only slightly. >Not enough to care. >Only enough to care about learning magic. >Ah yes, magic. >Nothing is more interesting right now. >The mystical force of magic. >The ability to control elements with ones will. >Spinning your pencil you advert your attention around the room. >Twilight seems to be missing; she must have gone off to the bathroom or something. >Right now you are in a fairly simple class room. >Hell you wouldn't know it was for ponies unless you had a class here. >Several pieces of 'artwork' on the walls along with different diagrams for magic. >Picking your book up you set what questions you have completed onto the desk Twilight has taken.   >Chapter 2. >Page one. >Basic fire. >Fuck. >Gathering the energy and elements to create fire was easy. >But a spark? >That’s tougher. >Slide the elements along your horn? >It does raise a challenge when these books are made for unicorns. >Controlling fire is one thing but if you can't start your own then how are you supposed to say this part of the chapter is complete? >Another mental sigh, you stare at the instructions and thought process they want you to have. >Soon another bell rings and the class fills up with Twilight and the teacher, Mrs. Snowflake, coming in last. >You already had a talk with Mrs. Snowflake. >Anything you could learn in this class you could very easily learn in this book. >And seeing as how you already seem to know anything she's planning on teaching, this leaves you in a very interesting place. >You wish to listen to her lectures and how she will teach her students. >But also to figure out this problem. >”Alright class,” Mrs. Snowflake starts. >Putting your pencil in the book you look ahead until the class quiets down for her to continue.   >”Today we are going to try something a little different. We will be practicing levitating blindfolded." >Blindfolded? >The class looks around, questioning, as you take a look at Twilight who is paying attention to the teacher. >”Now can somep0ny tell me why we would do this?” >She looks around for a hoof in the air. >Eventually some colt in the front throws his up. >”Yes?” >”Uh, so we can?” the colt answers confused. >”No.” the teacher shaking her head. >Out of the corner of your eye Twilight's hoof raises slightly. >Mrs. Snowflake registers her hoof is slightly raised but waits for her students to give it a real shot. >A small bit of time passes before she looks up to Twilight with a smile. >”Twilight Sparkle, would you please tell us?” >The entire class turns their attention to Twilight. >”To become one with your magic and use it like you would your body.” >That sounds awful... >And it sounds familiar.... >Flipping the book open you flick to the first couple pages while the teacher praises Twilight. >Page 4, line 9... >She just quoted directly from a book... >Nerd alert.... >Holding the book up you point it toward her as you point at the line. >This catches her attention as she takes a quick look and blushes. >Looks like checking this book out so many times paid off for her.   >”Alright class, so who would like to go first?” >Several fillies throw their hooves in the air. >You watch as they all give it a try. >Some fail but those who manage to get it cheer at their success. >Eventually it comes down to your turn. >Or more so the teacher asked you to try. >So here you are as the teacher ties a blindfold around you. >”Alright Anonymous, I moved your book, please find it and lift it into the air.” >Clenching your fist, you crack your knuckles before flaring magic out, searching for the book. >Repeating the phrase you heard Twilight say and reading it from the book, it becomes quite easy to expand your magic along the desk. >Swiping your magic across the table you can only find your pencil. “It's not on my desk?” >”That is correct,” you hear the teacher walking around you. >Taking a deep breath you reach out even farther. >Starting on the left hand side you find the windowsill. >Sliding it across you find nothing, moving closer you try in front of you. >With no one sitting in front of you it's rather easy to reach the desk. >But still no book. >Moving, you try Twilight’s desk. >Random papers.... Book! >Grabbing at it becomes difficult. “I found it but....I can't move it.” >”Hm interesting. Where is it, I can't see your glow...” “Twilight's desk” >”Interesting, you are correct.” >You feel the blindfold being removed before Twilight says something.   >”Wait. Anonymous where are you focusing from?” “Uh.... My hands?” >”Hmm. Move one closer to me.” “Uhhh-” >Moving one closer you try to lift it again. >It becomes easier the closer you get to it. >What feels like half way to her desk, you have the book in the air floating toward you. >”Very interesting. Good call Twilight.” >Mrs. Snowflake removes your blindfold as you place the book on your desk. >”Every unicorn has a different range they can effectively use magic. Each unicorn has a different range that their magic is effective.” The teacher explains, walking in front of the class as she begins talking more about magic range and effectiveness. >At times you seem to forget you're in a kindergarten magic class but it also amazes you how the little ones seem to pay attention. >You remember something being important or special about this school but you can't quite remember it. >Shrugging it off, you contuine listening as Mrs. Snowflake begins talking about controlling the elements of magic. >You join in the small exercise she has everyone try but soon grow bored of just hurling air. >Soon you find yourself rereading the chapter in your book until the end of class. >The bells ring over-head signaling class is over. >You support this thought as ponies begin to rush out of the room leaving you shocked and confused at how fast they left. >Then Mrs. Snowflake giggles as she takes a look at Twilight and you still sitting, slightly surprised. >”Go on, class is over.” >Packing what little you have, you stand up as Mrs. Snowflake floats several papers over to you. >”You show some promise Anonymous, you will need to know everything on that list to move up a grade every week, and each teacher will provide you with a new list.” >Taking the papers, you do a quick scan and nod in understanding. >Thanking her, you put the papers in your bag.   >”And don't be afraid to fail a class, the program you are in allows you to keep failing every week until you pass the test. The worst that could happen is you belong in that class.” “Yes I remember.” >”Hey Anonymous,” Twilight pulling your attention “Hm?” >”What are you going to do for the rest of the day now that class is out?” “Well, nothing much. Head to the dorm apartment thing I was given and attempt to finish this chapter I'm stuck on.” >”Oh which one?” “Chapter two, making your own fire.” >”Oh well that’s easy,” Mrs. Snowflake speaking up. >You watch as her horn glows and a spark flies off bursting into flames. >Watching her do this you're not even angry she was able to do it with ease. >You are jealous. >She was able to do it with no effort at all. >She looks between you and Twilight for a moment before it dawns on her. >”Oh.... Have you tried skipping it?” “I read ahead, yes, but if something as simple as this stops me how am I supposed to honestly learn everything I can about magic?” >”Well I could help,” Twilight beaming at you, “You did answer those questions for me and I did agree to help after all.” “Yeah, guess you did.” >Saying your goodbyes to Mrs. Snowflake, you will see her tomorrow. >Leading Twilight back to your place, she strikes up another round of questioning.   >”So, on parents, I noticed you only put father?” She looks up at you curiously “I don't see what's wrong with that answer.” >”Well, you said griffon parents, that generally means a mother and father.” “Oh, right, well you are correct, on the question for family I only put my real father down.” >She goes quiet for a moment before asking another question. >Holding the door open, both of you leave the school and into the sunny day. >The best part about kindergarten.... >You get out really early. >”You also wrote down our world's are a lot alike.” “Yes, kinda, in a way it's like I'm still home but instead of just humans like me it's other races such as ponies or griffons.” >”And you didn't have ponies, griffons, or minotaurs?” “Ponies.... we have horses. Much bigger, not....” >Tripping over your words you attempt to find the right one. “Smart? Like you and me if that makes sense?” >”Sentient?” “Yes!” >”Griffons and minotaurs?” “Both myths.” >”Myths?” “Yep, old legends, folk tales, made up fantasy creatures. Just like unicorns and pegasi.” >Twilight seems to stop for a moment trying to really understand what she's hearing. >”But what about other races?” “Just us humans.” >Taking a right, you gesture towards the brown building. “Here we are”     >Walking toward the rather plain building, you lead Twilight toward the stairs heading up to your floor. >Two floors up you take a left you unlock your door before walking in. >You won't lie, your place is pretty plain, it's to be expected when you have nothing to put on the walls. >”Wow it's so big!” Twilight comments >Comparing the size of a pony to you, clearly it is pretty big. >At least your head doesn't grind against the ceiling. >”I always wanted look inside these buildings.” “Well feel free to take a look around, it's not much but it's still a roof over my head.” >Twilight trots off as you set your bag down. >Pulling your magic book out, you set it on the table and take a seat. >Most of your days recently have been spent at this table trying to solve this problem. >You wish to skip it but when you read ahead it seems when a unicorn casts a spell, it's grinded along their horn which 'sparks' the spell to life. >Levitation is pretty basic as it is ones will to pick up the item. >Using magic to feel for your surroundings was an interesting experience during class but honestly puts you nowhere closer to solving your current issue. >”Wow this place is a lot bigger then I thought it would be,” Twilight walks into the room and notices you're pretty much ready to start. >She wastes no time in joining you at the table, beginning the 'study session' if you wish to call it that. >Two hours are put into studying. >Twilight kept a close eye on you when you used any sort of magic. >It was almost like she was looking for something. >Trying various things to make a spark, most of it failing. >Running the elements needed to start a fire along your finger just doesn’t work. >You wish to argue that it doesn't make sense but every time you try to make sense of something it's just better left alone. >Like the elements in the air around you. >Simple particles you just break down even farther giving you a weak fuel source.   >How do you know this is a fuel source? >Experimentation! >A shitty bic lighter. >One of the few items that came with you when you arrived. >Along with your backpack... >And old school work which you eventually threw out >By the two hour mark you and Twilight stopped. >Not because you were tired. >You may not have been making much progress but it was great having someone else help you with this. >It was the pony living above you. >More so ponies. >A scream of pleasure is heard above followed by several thumps. >After a few moans of pleasure above you knew exactly what was going on. >What you didn't know is it was over before it even started. >It stopped before even a minute. >You couldn't help but laugh. >Holding your gut you take a drink of your water as Twilight looks some what embarrassed. >You're not sure why she's embarrassed as you get back to studying for another hour. >But with no real progress moving forward, it leaves both of you holding your heads up as you lean over the book. >”I just don't know what to do Anonymous.” “It's alright Twilight, I'm sure I will find something, maybe I just need another book.” >”If only we were in Ponyville, I have almost every magic book in my library.” “Hm, impressive.” >Idly you begin to play with your lighter. >Another fun thing about this world and magic. >You can just refill the lighter with ease.   >Twilight is move focused on the book then your lighter. >Decided to strike a flame, you do so and pull it off the lighter into your hand. >Feeding it the elements it desires you are able to hold it gently in your hand. >Twilights eyes darted to you instantly the moment fire was brought into this. >Following her gaze it's on your lighter and not the flame. >”What's that?” “Lighter, something from my world.” >”How does it work?” she floats it in front of her. “Exactly? Unsure. How most people understand it without knowing too much is you roll this down which creates a spark.” >Pointing at the metal roller. “And as your thumb rolls it you hit the button which releases fuel creating a flame.” >Twilight floats it over to you. >”Do it!” >Unsure how to react to her new found enthusiasm, you put out your fire and light the lighter for a bit. >You do this a few times before something seems to click in her head. >”I have an idea!” she shouts while jumping up. >Startled, you listen in. >”So you can't cause a spark because of not having a unicorn horn which leaves you with limited spells to cast. The most you could do is levitation and element manipulation, but also making a force field.” “Force field?” >She picks up the book and turns to a page way in the back. >Showing it to you, it has no chapter but is simple instructions on how to erect a simple shield to protect ones self. >Page 784.... >Curiosity getting the better of you. >You flip to the very last page.... >1530.... >You look at the size again as you are able to hold it easily between your fingers. “Is this book enchanted?” >”Focus Anonymous!” she flips it back to the force field page. >”If you can make a shield, you could grind it against another, making a spark.” >You know exactly where this is going now. >Listening you begin reading as she starts talking about the basics of a force field. >But one thing stops you.   >Looking up from the book you ask a question. “Wait, how do we know this force field idea will work?” >”Anonymous, it's from personal experience.“ >Nodding you start reading again. >It's rather simple to do, you really wonder why it's in the back of the book. >But then again you had no idea the book was one thousand five-hundred and thirty pages long... >It's like three hundred pages big... how do you- >”Anonymous?” “Huh what?” >”Focus, you're staring at the edges of the book again!” >Taking a look, you are. >Alright so just focus a barrier, it's much like levitation but focusing in the general area more densely. >Should be easy. >Nodding to yourself, you hold your hand out and begin to form the shield around your hand. >As your hands glow with a dull gray aura, the palm of your hand begins to feel still as a darker gray begins to envelop your hand. >As it connects together on the back of your hand, you feel a strain in your mind. >The strain continues until it becomes a headache. >You are just getting to your fingers when you give in and let go, holding your head. >The strain disappears only to be replaced by a shock of pain. “Ahh fuck!” holding your head. >”Anonymous are you okay?” “Yeah yeah, just hurts.” >”Hmmm, well you had it, but you also seem to have a low magical stamina, try a smaller version.” “In a minute,” holding your head, you wait for the thumping to recede. >Leaning back, you take some deep breaths. “Magical,” breath “Stamina? That like,” Cough “physical stamina?” >”Yes, the only way to increase it is-” >You interrupt Twilight. “Is to use magic more often, makes sense. I was wondering why you told me to write with magic.” >Pushing yourself up you give your head a shake as you prepare to try again. >”Just make a small one, two small ones at most.”   >Nodding, you begin making a small shield layer on your thumb. “That wasn't so hard...” >You're not straining but you can feel the pull. >You feel the texture of the small grayish shell over your thumb. >It's rough but warmer than your thumb. >Doing what comes natural, you create another small grayish shield on your middle finger. >You can feel the strain now but it's nothing you can't hold. >Tapping your thumb and middle finger together, you feel and hear a low 'humming' sound. >Snapping your fingers, sparks fly off in various directions. >Looking up at Twilight, she's wearing a smile. >But you are not done. >Gathering the small bit of elements for a fire, you give it a try. >Snapping your finger, your thumb burst into flames. “Oh my god, yes it's wor-.... OH GOD IT'S HOT!” >Waving your hand about, you blow on your thumb as it begins to sting. >Sucking on your thumb like a child to dull the pain, it's not very effective. >But it does make you feel better. “I did it!” you say with a thumb in your mouth. >”Yes you did! Now onto the next part!” “Uh Twilight?” >Stopping her as she begins pulling the book toward her. “I don't mean to be rude and I appreciate your help.... but it's getting dark out.” >Twilight stops everything as she rushes to the nearest window. >There it is, the sun slowly following down being replaced by the moon. >”Oh my gosh you're right, I need to get going. I hope my parents don't freak out.”   “Hold up let me get my jacket, I can walk you home. It's the least I can do, honestly.” >”You don't have to do that, I don't live very far.” “You're right, I don't, but I need food, I have none in this house.” >”Oh,” Twilight semi defeated, you grab your jacket and small bag of bits. >Leading the way out into the night of Canterlot. >A cool breeze blows over as both of you walk down a street. >Twilight takes a turn as you follow. >Both of you talk lightly about random human and pony culture and how similar it is. >Another turn and crossing a.... its not a street considering they don't have cars but you cross anyway. >She leads you to a rather large house with a fenced yard. >”This is it.” “Wow. Nice place.” >”Yeah it's my parents place.” “It's still nice, anyway thanks Twilight, don't think I would have figured this out without your he-” >The door to Twilight's place flies open. >”You get away from my daughter you giant monkey!” >A blue unicorn with a darker blue mane rushes out of the house and through the fence gate between both you and Twilight. >”Come on honey your mother and I have been worried sick.” >”Dad!” Twilight trying to stop him. >”I'm sorry Anonymous, I'll see you at school tomorrow.” she says hastily before being shoved inside. >You stand there for a minute as the door is slammed. >You don't hear screaming or yelling so honestly a good sign. >At least you hope... >Regardless you brush off what happened and chuckle about it. >Jokes on him, you're not ready for ponies... >Or griffons... >Fuck no to minotaurs. >Checking to make sure you have your bits, you're off to find a meal before sleep and school in the morning.
