>Day momma said at Equestria High. >Be Fluttershy. >Its not so easy at this school. >There are tons of people at this school. >Tons of JUDGEMENTAL people. >It's really scary. >Yes, you have met friends along the way, but they can't always protect you from everyone else all the time. >Thats what makes everything so scary here. >You wouldn't say it's bad to get noticed... and you do like to get noticed sometimes. >But if all the attention falls on you, you get scared. >"See, this is why you need to start standing up for yourself. You took that seminar last year right? That didn't help?" asks Rainbow Dash. >Oh, she must be talking about the assertiveness seminar. W-well, yes and n-no... >"What? That doesn't make any sense shy. Yes or no?" Y-n... >Oh you hate situations like this... >You can't see how people like Pinkie and... Norman can put up with this. *RIIIING* >Oh thank goodness, the lunch bell has saved you! Sorry Dash but it's lunch time and i'm hungry and ireallygottagonowbye! >You begin to jog/sprint into the cafeteria. >Sometimes you sit with the gang, but sometimes you like to just sit outside near the tree. >It's nice seeing the birds. >You grab your lunch of cheese pizza, cheese sticks, and marinara sauce, and head on over to the tree. >Good old cheese day never fails to make you happy. >You tear open the tub of marinara and dunk that cheese stick straight in there. >"Oh, is that you Fluttershy?" asks the voice of Norman. EEP! >You get startled and fumble the cheese stick in and out of your hands until you just grab it with your mouth. >You turn to face Norman sitting almost on the other side of the tree, though he scoots over. >"You can uh.... eat your cheese stick now." he says pointing at you. >You freeze up and then realise that you have a cheese stick in your mouth. >You probably look so silly right now. >You grab hold of the other end and tear off the piece you had in your mouth, but there is a trail of cheese left coming from the tear. >Oh gosh this is so embarrassing. >Norman lets you eat that up. U-ummm... hello Norman, what are you doing here? >"Oh, i sit out here sometimes. Feels good to just get away from all the others, you know?" >Oh yes, i do. >You nod to him, going back to your meal. >"I'm guessing that you do it for the same reason?" >You pause, looking down, but then nod again, eating the rest of the cheese stick. >"Don't feel ashamed about it. It's always good to keep stress away. You don't mind if i sit here with you though, do you?" O-oh, not at all Norman. >Norman has always been nice to you. >Sometimes he has even come to help volunteer at the animal shelter. >Norman is probably the only one that keeps a good distance with you too. >"So, what's troubling you?" he says digging into his pizza. W-well, Rainbow dash has been telling me that i need to... stick up for myself. >"That again?" >Norman gets it. >"Well... i mean... how do you feel about all of this? I remember you telling me about how you felt about the seminar and how you dealt with being assertive for awhile." I am assertive when i need to be now, i just feel like i don't always need to be assertive. >"I understand completely." he says >You and him continue to eat and enjoy the sound of wind and birds. I-i do feel like i should be doing something about my courage though. >"Fluttershy, just because you aren't much of a peoples person doesn't mean that you lack courage." You say that, but you know i'm right. >Norman hesitates and turns over to continue eating. >You look at him for awhile, waiting for some kind of statement. >He just keeps eating. >You look down at your food and- >"You know... if you feel like you need a boost in courage, physical clubs are always a good start." he says with a bit of a smile. W-what? N-no, i'm not good at sports or anything athletic... >"You say that, but i've seen you up there with Rainbow Dash whenever she gets you into socer. You are pretty good out there when you get into the spirit of things." >You smile a bit. I-i'm not THAT good... >"You know... i think i know the best place for you." Really? >"Yeah, meet me in the main hall after school is over." he says finally finishing his food and heading over to the bin to throw away his trash. >"I'll see you then!" he says waving. >You wave to him and start to finish your meal. >You really do want to gain some courage. >All kinds of courage. >I'd like to have the courage to do things that i don't normally do. >I'd like the courage to meet and talk to people i don't even know. >I'd like to say anything that i wanted to say, to anyone. >Maybe Norman is right. >You throw away your trash just as the bell for your next class starts. >History. >You make your way down the hallways, dodging anyone who is going against the current of students. >You must say that they are quite annoying to have to dodge. >One bumps into you. >"HAY WATCH IT, I'M WALKING HERE!" O-oh... s-sorry... i-i didn't mean to- >They were already gone. >You make your way into the classroom. >History class is very easy. >Most of the time, the teacher just throws up a movie to show what happened , and just counts on you to take notes. >You couldn't help it, but you just kept thinking about the meet up with Norman. >Where was he going to take you? >What was going to happen? >Just like that, you had daydreamed through not only history, but through the last 2 periods. >It was kind of embarrassing to think you just daydreamed the rest of the school day away, but you were kind of exited. >You rush your way to the main hall, searching for Norman. >"Watch out for the racist!" says some random kid. >Those jerks, always picking on Norman. >Everyone in the group knows he isn't racist. >It was just a big dumb rumor started by some big dumb stupid head. >You find Norman just ignoring every word said by these kids. >You always respected that about him. >Norman honestly didn't care about what people other than his friends thought about him. >"Hay Shy. Ready to go?" he says leading you outside. Y-yes! >You are taken to Normans car. >It was very clean on the inside, he must take nice care of it. >He starts it up and takes you somewhere off campus. >He is probably taking you to the swim club. >Does he think you would be a good swimmer? >After awhile, he pulls into a blank looking building. >It only had two floors. W-where are we Norman? >"You'll see. Come on. Lets go inside." he says with a bit of a grin on his face. >You put your own smile on and follow him. >When you enter the building, the first thing you hear, is the sound of hard rock playing on some speakers. >You have to admit that you jumped a little bit at the start of hearing it. >Norman just keeps heading straight in. >As you walk with him, you begin to see both girls and guys around the place, working out and punching.... each other. O-oh... my... >"I know what you are thinking. "why did you bring me to a place like THIS?"" he says pointing behind him to the main ring. S-so i could get beaten up? >"God no." >You smile a bit. >"No, i just wanted to show you the place, and see if you would like to start training here." W-wouldn't that mean i would be getting beat up though? >"I said you wouldn't get beaten up Shy." Then what do you mean? >"Follow me, we are going to talk to the manager." he says. >You follow him and look at all the men and women practicing and training. >Some look like they are smiling. >How can you be happy when you are getting beaten up? >Norman stops suddenly, and you bump into him. O-oh sorry N-norma- >"No need. Shy, meet Beauty Sting." says Norman introducing you to a tall woman. >She had black hair tied up in a ponytail, a tank top that showed a lot of her... cleavage, and a bunch of bandages around her knuckles and arm. >The most noticeable thing about her were her scarlet eyes. They were strong, but gave off a sense of calmness. >She gives you a scary smile and offers a hand. >You get scared and hide behind Norman. >"It's okay girl, i don't hurt nobody." she says putting her hand back. >You step back hesitantly. >"So, Norman, you here for gain?" >"Nah, you know i only come here when my metabolism isn't quite cutting it." he says lifting his shirt. >Oh gosh, he has... abs... >"Shame really, you make a fine addition to the group. Who's this little girl?" >"This is Fluttershy. I took her hear to show her what goes on and see if she would like to train here." >"Full on training?" >"God no... baby steps Sting. Baby steps." >"Oh, you're talking about just learning the moves. Getting the rhythm of things." >"Exactly. Think you can show her the ropes?" >"Well, i do owe you for helping to get this place back into tip top shape." >Norman helped refurbish this building? >Norman must really like to help out. >Miss Sting looks at you with a less scary smile. >"Come on girl, lets show you the place." >She puts her arm around you and takes you down the stairs and back to the main room again. >She is kind of sweaty, but she smells... nice. >It might just be she has really good deodorant. >Norman holds back and waves. >You guess he wants you to go about this with your own opinion of the place. >"Well Shy, we call this the pit. This is where everyone comes to test themselves, whether it be for strength, agility, or just fight smarts." D-do they get hurt? >"What? NO! You silly? I can't run a place having people beat each other up. Come on. I set them all up with tight fitting, but very good gear. helmet, pads, the works." >You actually see the pads now. >You must've not have noticed them before since you were so scared. >"No, if you wanna fight bare, you gotta schedule it." >You audibly gulp. >She laughs a bit. >She continues to lead you to a different room. >"We call this one the lax room. It's where you come to relax. We got a TV, a fridge, some vending machines, and a fruit bowl." >She leans in close. >"I always keep the fridge stocked with sunny-d and capri sun in the hidden compartment. That's just a secret between you and me though." >She gets it some out for the both of you. >That actually kind of makes you happy. >She once again stars to lead you, but this time up a different set of stairs. >"This is the Training room. This is where i teach beginners. It takes about a week for people to start getting into the hang of things and really showing their own stripes in all of this. Once that week is over, i let them go about their own way." she says looking at a picture on the wall. >You go over to see that it is a picture of her and a whole bunch of people. It's labeled on the frame as "Team: Snake Eye'd Dice Rollers". Wow, you look really young. >"Yep, this was about when my Pops gave me the key to this place. There's little Norman." >Norman? >You look to see a little kid in a big beany on his head next to Miss Sting. Ar-are you Norman's mom? >"Ohoho no. I guess you could say i'm like a godmother though." Are you a family friend of Norman's parents? >"Well... yes. I was." Was? >"Norman's biological parents died in a plane crash when he was six. He got into the adoptive agency before me and Pops could find the forms for him. When it came down to it though, Norman got put in with a good family. I didn't feel like taking him away from all of that, so i let him stay there." she says cracking her neck a little bit. >Wow... you never knew anything like this about Norman. >He never talked about it. >"Well, enough of that. The thing now is, what do you think about all of this?" she asks walking around the room. >You think about it. >Norman thinks this would boost your courage, or at least confidence. >Norman likes to help... >You can't just turn this down. Y-yes... >Miss sting just looks at you with a smile. >"Hah... well alright then. How about you tell Norman and then come back up here so we can start." W-we are starting today? >"Well yeah." she says in a nonchalant manner. >Oh my... >You head back to the other set of stairs to see Norman sitting down and drinking some sunny-d. Y-you know about the secret compartment in the fridge too? >"Yep. Sting only lets people she likes know about the secret compartment. Looks like she sees something in you." he says smiling. >You can't help but smile too. >"So, what's the final verdict?" I.... i think that... i think that i would like to stay. >Norman gives a grin and stands up. >"Well, i'm going to assume that she said she was going to start you off today." Yes. >"Well then, i guess ill hang back here and help out the guys and gals until she lets you out." L-lets me out? >"She teaches you the basics on day one. She doesn't let you out until she has taught you her day one curriculum." >Somehow that sounds scary. >You go back into the room and meet up with Miss Sting. >"Ah, forgot. Wouldn't want you to get sweaty in pretty clothes like those. Put these on." >She throws over some small shorts, and a... sports bra... U-um... >"Oh, thats new. I bought it recently. No one has worn it. You get to keep it afterwords." O-oh... thanks. >"Don't mention it. Go ahead and get dressed and we can get started." O-okay, where is the restroo- >"Just go ahead and dress here." B-bu- >"Shygirl, its just you and me up here. If it makes you feel any better, i'll turn around." >She turns around and gives you a thumbs up from her side. >Oh my... this is embarrassing. >You begin to change out as quickly as you can. >When you have everything on, you put your other clothes into your bag. I-i'm ready now. >Miss sting turns around and looks at you. >"Wow, you have a pretty figure for your age. Norman hasn't hit on you yet?" >Oh gosh... N-no... >"Odd, he sure talks about you a lot. Come on, lets start up with a quick work out." >After what seems like an hour of doing exercises (it turns out it was just fifteen minutes), she finally gets you into basic training. >She just makes you throw punches forward, sometimes guiding you on how to put the punches out there. >Like this one punch that you have to twist your arm as you throw it, instead of just putting it out there straight. >She is so energetic, she could put Rainbow Dash to shame. >After a solid thirty minutes, she said it was time to stop for today. A-already? >"Hahaha, you've got some moxy Shygirl. Thats some good character." she says ruffling up your hair. >She does it to a point that you hair that normally covers your face gets put behind your ear. >"Huh... you look better with all that out of your face. You should keep it like that." she says as she goes down stairs. >You get changed again and head down stairs. >You see Norman spotting someone. >Oh, it was the really muscular kid from your school. What was his name? Everyone just calls him Roidrage. >"Oh hay Shy. Ready to go home?" Norman asks helping put the pole back onto the bars. Y-yes. Thank you. >He leads you outside, but not before saying goodbye to everyone. >Before you leave, Miss Sting throws you a capri sun. Bye Miss Sting! >Oh my i hope that wasn't too loud. >"Bye Shygirl." she says waving and heading back to her office. >You get back inside Normans Car, and he begins to drive you home. >"So, stay or bail?" he asks looking ahead at the road. I wouldn't mind going there again. >"Cool. Now, i wont always be able to drive you up there, but when i can, i will." O-oh, thank you. >You can't help but smile. >You finally pull up to your house. >"Well, i guess i will see you tomorrow then." says Norman unlocking the door. Y-yeah... see you tomorrow Norman. >He smiles, and you get out of the car and into your house, waving goodbye to him as he drives off. >You get inside and are greeted by your mom. >"Shy honey, where have you been? You are usually around here earlier. Why are you all sweaty?" I-i joined a *mumble mumble* >"BOXING CLUB?!" O-only to learn the basics. >Your dad comes in to check all the comotion. >"Whats all this about a boxing club?" he asks. >"Your daughter has just joined a... a boxing club!" >Your dad looks to you. >You gulp. >"Heheheh, thats my girl!" he says patting you on the head. >"HONEY?!" your mom says freaking out. >"Now now... if our daughter wants to learn to box, then she gets to learn to box. We gotta support her desisions." he says with a smile. >Your mom just looks to you, then to dad, then back again. I'm gonna go to my room now. >"Okay sweety,be ready for diner though." said dad. Okay. >You head up to your room and are greeted by Angel bunny. Angel, you are never going to believe the day i had!
