>You wake up late at night, if you had to guess, you'd say it is midnight. >Today has been a long, tiring day. >However, it has also been a great one. >Early this morning you woke to the smell of cooking breakfast; you found Twilight in the kitchen, preparing something for you. >You assisted her with the preparations best you could, but you aren't so good at cooking. >That's fine with Twilight though. >After that pleasant meal you and her decided on taking a morning walk through Ponyville's park. >The sun was out, casting a sleepy and peaceful light over the down, poking its head over the cottages and cozy homes where many ponies were probably still sleeping. >It was just a little cold out, the perfect sort of cold; a slight nip in the air that wasn't biting or distracting. >It gave Twilight an excuse to cuddle close with you on your walk. >The trees were green with life and the birds were out and about, chirping once or twice and fluttering by; yet the morning was quiet for the most part. >You and her made small talk and commented on things, like a flower here or a cloud there. >Simple things. >You and her took an unusual path, diverting away from the main square and the benches, instead heading deeper into the less frequented parts of the park. >It was very calming there; you and her shared a brief moment together under the trees. >Just with each other. >The skies got a little darker, graying as mid-morning approached. >Agreeing to head home before it rained you turned back around whence you came. >The clouds above were ripe with rain and looked ready to burst at any second.   >They did eventually, crystal and pure droplets pelting you and Twilight suddenly. >Wishing to head home without being soaked you scooped her up, rushing back to the library. >There was much giggling and laughter as you and her bounced back to the warm place you called home. >By the time you reached the door and swung it open you were dripping wetting, shirt and pants soaked through, a warm Twilight hugging you tightly, her face holding a huge grin. >You dropped her down and she ran off to get a towel for you both. >After helping each other get dry and settled she places a kettle on the stove and joins you on the couch with a book, pressing her body gently against yours. >It's silent for a time, as the two of you just read and enjoyed hot cups of tea. >Equestria has some interesting history to say the least. >You set down your book around noon, and Twilight followed suit a few moments after, taking off the cute glasses she wears whilst reading. >You distinctly remember this moment better than the others of today; you smirked at her and gave her a quick kiss. >Lunch was made. >She and you spoke more, about little things. >How her studies went; how you were getting comfortable in the library, having only recently moved in; and most importantly: plans for tomorrow. >Twilight had something special in mind which involved a fancy dinner at the Adorned in Red. >You wouldn't have it, refusing outright.   >Why wait when we can go today, you had asked, gesturing out the window. >The rain had stopped and the sky had cleared some, albeit was still fairly dark out. >She agreed with a smile and a nod. >You and her got ready around 6, hoping to get there by 7. >By now the sun had set and the air had gotten a little colder. >Twilight walked close to you the whole way to the restaurant, nuzzling you. >The food and service were great, exceptional even. >Well worth the price. >The food however wasn't the best part, rather just being with her. >That is was really mattered. >That is what made the night so great. >You and her lost track of time, slowly eating as to drag out the dinner, your conversation being the most delicious dish. >Before you knew it the night was gone and the waiter was kindly asking you and her to leave, as they were closing. >Somewhat embarrassed and appreciative of their patience you and her fumbled back out into the night. >On the slow walk home Twilight leaned against you; you held her side softly, running your hand through her pleasant coat. >The conversation became low and infrequent, both of you tired from the long day. >With little argument it was off to bed, where you and her snuggled a bit before she fell asleep in your arms. >And now you're here, simply content with everything. >It is nice.   >With a disheartened sigh you roll out of bed, tossing the quilt and sheets aside. >You vaguely remember removing you pants but not your shirt before entering bed, and now your legs were exposed to the cold night. >The radiator wasn't working again, typical. >You pull up the blinds and open up the window near your bed, feeling the harsh cold blow in by a winter breeze. >Outside is a loud, and still fairly busy metropolis. >The streetlights, and the lights from the apartments, and those from cars make the night unnaturally bright. >You rub your eyes, shutting the window with violent force, not bothering to close the blind. >With a tired body you crawl back into bed, covering yourself with the sheets once more and facing to the right, as always. >It will be some time before the bed is comfortable and warm again.
