>It has been two years since you were sucked to this different world. Fitting in was not much of a problem since the ponies were very friendly and accommodating.
>For sometime now you were a minor celebrity of some sorts. Food and lodging weren't an issue since you were given under the care of Twilight Sparkle.
>Sure you helped her a lot on the household chores and the usual home repairs but you can't help but feel like a dead weight for her.
>You can't find a permanent job since you don't really specialize in something unlike ponies. More or less you get hired because they need to fill up a position nopony takes up. Construction, farming, cooking heck even fashion you name it- you once tried you hands on those.
 
 
>Then comes one of your conversations with Twilight about your life back at Earth. You gotta admit you sort of "tweaked" some of them to make you look awesome.
>"So Anon, did you have a job back at Earth?", she asks while she was putting some books back to the shelf.
"Yeah used to be an aircraft mechanic--I guess I wouldn't be much help since some of you got wings 'an stuff",you say as you grab a couple of scrolls.
>That part was true. All this time you still find the idea of "magic powering everything" as baffling.
"Worked for the air force specifically", you add.
>Twisting the truth a bit,are you? You spent a few months at the reserves and that was pretty much it.
>"Oh wow I never thought you were the military type Anon!" She beams. "You and my brother would certainly click together"
"Really? He in the Royal Guards or something?" You then grab the last of the books on the floor and put it on the shelf.
>"Thanks Anon! And yes he's a captain in the royal guards. I wish I can see him more often though" she sighs and suddenly her eyes get big.
>"Omigosh I totally forgot! I need to go to Canterlot tomorrow to deliver a book to Princess Celestia! Oooh how can I forget about that!", she says as she jams a hoof in her head while walking around.
"Chill out Twi I can take care of your house for a day or two anyways. No more wild parties I swear", you chuckle at that. Last time Twilight went out to do something, Spike talked you out about having a bro party at the treehouse while she's away. You can't remember much aside from you waking up naked at Berry Punch's front yard and half of the library in disarray. Ah the things booze makes you do. She really gave you a mouthful when she returned.
 
 
>"Yeah right" she rolls her eyes on that. "What if you'd just come with me so you can meet my brother? And I bet Princess Celestia would love to see you too"
"But mooooom I don't wanna go!" You quip out while lying on the sofa. You stick out your tongue hoping to annoy her.
>"Very funny Anon but you're still coming with me tomorrow and that's final!" she tries to give you an angry look but she ends up giggling instead.
>Damn Twilight and that cutesy mannerisms of hers. She really knows how to push your buttons.
"Okay fine I'll go with you tomorrow" you roll your eyes.
> " Excellent! Now go to sleep so you can get up early" she smiles at you
> Dammit dammit dammit if booze won't kill you then the insane amount of squee will
" Mhm goodnight Twi".
> " Goodnight Anon"
 
 
> "Anon wake up we're gonna be late if you don't move that butt of yours!" She pulls down your blanket and shakes you awake.
Jeez this early? " ....hr..five more minutes..twi.."
> "Anon come on!" She then opens up the shutters and the sunlight hits you squarely in the face.
> IT BURNSSSSSS!
> You roll and hit the floor due to the sudden flash. It took you a few seconds before you stand up and you give Twi a very hard stare.
> "That's better" she giggles and levitates a piece of bread with jam on it at your face. " Sorry no time for proper breakfast Anon"
You just grunt and grab the bread. " Wait a sec need to prep up a bit."
> "Then hurry up Anon! I really don't like to be late you know" She furrows her brows on you
"Okay okay jeez I get it jus' a sec." You really don't anyways. It took you longer since you spent half your time dozing off with a piece of bread in your mouth while sitting at the toilet.
> You can hear her walking about outside the door. You can only imagine how cross she looks now.
> Damn she looks cute when she looks angry.
> After a few minutes you emerge from the bathroom feeling like a new human again
> "Finally! What ever happened to 'wait up Twi just a few minutes'?" She throws her forehooves on the air.
"Chill out man jeez. Need to be prim if I'm gonna be meeting royalty", you say as you adjust the collar on your shirt.
> She just mutters under her breath and the two of you took off after she left Spike with a rather long "to do list".
"Heh enjoy the day dude", you chuckle and give Spike a wink.
 
>The two of you arrive at the train station on time.When you say on time, you were early by an hour.
> "Cheer up Anon better early than late you know!" She chimes in as you give her a deadpan look

>The ride was uneventful aside from you trying to annoy Twilight with all the "are we there yet?" questions. All she can do is shake her head and read her book.
>It was already lunchtime when you arrive at Canterlot. You've been here for quite a number of times now yet you still catch yourself admiring the magnificent architecture of the city.
>"Twily is that you?" A stallion behind you asks.
>Twilight looks back and her eyes widen " Shining Armor! I'm so glad to see you" she trots and gives the stallion a big hug

>"Oh I'm sorry! Anon meet my brother Shining Armor. Brother my friend, Anon. He's in the military too!" You wince at that.
>"Is that so? Nice to meet you...? I'm the captain of the royal guards here in the castle"
>"L-lieutenant! I'm lieutenant Anon..nice to meet you sir"
Brain: Lieutenant? that ain't right boss

>You give him a snappy salute and he returns it. The three of you proceed to walk to the castle.
>"You know, we're pretty much short of officers to train cadets around here. We'd be more than glad if you would lend us a hoof lieutenant" He says as he leads the two of you to the castle.
"Your offer sounds very tempting sir. I'll consider that one", you say as you bite your lip. One down, a handful more lies to go.

>"I'm sure the Princess would love that idea too" He adds in "Also, drop that 'sir' thing alright? You're a very good friend of my Twily over here anyways" He proceeds to give his sister a rub in the mane
>"Stop it you're embarrassing me! I'm not a little filly anymore brother. We just need to give something to Princess Celestia" she's turning beet red awful fast. You give her a sly smile that makes her blush more heavily.
>"Ah here we are. Sorry Twily I'm pretty much swamped with work today. Anon take care of her alright?"
"Yes si-" He cuts you off
>"C'mon Anon told ya to drop the whole 'sir' thing" he raises a forehoof for a fist-er-hoof bump
>You take it and Twilight's brother leaves the two of you
"Twily eh?" You raise an eyebrow and chuckle.
>"A-anon stop it!" She giggles and tries to look mad at you again
"Not my problem if you got a cutesy nickname like that" You chime in

>The two of you just walk without talking. Twilight just looks at the floor while you try to look immersed with the artworks you two pass by

>"Looks like we're here already!" She smiles. The two of you go near the throne
> Twilight bends her forehooves down in front of the Princess.
brain: so boss, do we kneel or salute?
>I dunno brain pick your poison. You stand at attention and give her a salute.
>"Ah my most faithful student" she smiles at her. " And Anon. I'm very glad to see you" she smiles warmly at you too
>You can't help but feel at ease with her. The way her mane flows regally...her heart warming smile..
>brain: boss jeez please stop sexualizing ponies it's disgusting

>You frown while trying to grasp that word. Celestia might have seen that and clears her throat

>"I'm sure the both of you are very hungry now. Would you accompany me and my sister for lunch?" She looks at you and Twilight while giving you that smile again.
>"Of course Princess! Anon and I would love to! Plus I'd be meaning to tell you all the new things I learned" Twilight is really beaming now.
>"Well then, shall we go?" She then leads the two of you to the dining hall at the end of the corridor. The door opens up revealing a table full of pastries, fruits and sweets.
>And meat
>You shudder at the thought of that. It has been awhile since you last ate meat.Ah the woes of being an omnivore in a herbivorous world!
>The meal goes on pleasantly with Twilight talking nonstop about the stuff she learned. Princess Celestia listens to her very intently and smiles at you whenever you glance at her
>"So Anon, I heard that you were an officer back at Earth?" She gives you her trademark warm smile again

"Y-yes Princess I used to" You say while toying that ham slice you have
>"I would be very much honored if you would provide your services to the royal guards. I'm sure you'd do very fine." There goes that  christmas tree smile again.
"I'd be more than happy your highness" you sit more upright now
" Excellent. I'll ask Shining Armor you show you around" She nods and tells Twilight to continue with her stories.
 
>"Anon would you be so kind enough to leave Twilight and me alone for a few minutes?" She looks at you with those pretty eyes again
>You salute and leave the two alone. You notice that the two ponies standing outside gives you salutes.
brain: So we playin' pretend soldiers now huh boss?
No other choice brain. Remind me not to do this again.
>"Anon there you are!" You turn around to see Shining Armor walking towards you
>"So you're finally with us now eh?" He eyes those shoulderboards you got. " Welcome aboard the royal guards lieutenant" he gives you a salute
"Thank you,sir" you return the salute like a badass motherbucker
>"Alright I'll show you around so you can meet the troops. But first, let me introduce you to your colleagues" He adds while he leads the way.
>The two of you stop in front the officers lounge. Nothing fancy really, just a table plus a couch.
>"Stand at attention!" He bellows out at the ponies mucking around the lounge "He is Lieutenant Anon and he will be serving with us starting today. I expect you to show him courtesy and respect"
>You get nods and handshakes plus a few curious looks. A mare officer looks at you and giggles
 
 
>"Lieutenant eh?" Both you and Shining turn around to see a mare standing at the door
>"Army?", the pegasus asks.
"Air force, Ma'am. Did maintenance work on aircraft"
>"So you got a background on theory of flight and mechanics and such?" She inquires more.
>"Mainly basic stuff ma'am and a little bit of the complex ones" You say truthfully
>"Excellent. Name's Spitfire by the way" She turns to Shining and grins " Mind if you loan me this one? We're short of officers in Cloudsdale to show the cadets the ropes"
>"Maybe next time captain. I think he'll be a bigger help here more than in Cloudsdale"
>"Fine Shining but you owe me bigtime on this one" she then looks at you and smiles. " Nice to meet you lieutenant", she gives you a wink and leaves.
>"Likewise ma'am",  you say sheepishly.
>"So ready to meet the troops?", Shining asks you while he holds the door open.
> " Sure thing sir", and the two of you go to the castle grounds.
