The Qoolay and the Great Hullabaloo   T’was a bright and sunny day When the Qoolay came to play He came bouncing into town On his Squigglehoozledown Or at least that’s what they say   He was all smiles and laughter Not quite sure what he’s after He’d always stop to say hi If you met him passing by From his place in the rafters   Then one day (I swear it’s true) There came a hullabaloo The greatest one we had seen Something different, something mean Something decidedly blue   I think it came from the west Looking for some place to rest The Qoolay offered his bed The creature just laughed and said “Surely this must be a jest   “You offer your home to me Tell me I can stay for free But there can be no such man Who can offer such a plan Such a thing simply can’t be.”   The Qoolay frowned for a while Then came back with a big smile “I guess I’m different,” he said While he was nodding his head “My good’s as long as a mile”   The Hullabaloo grumbled His thoughts were all quite jumbled “I’d like you to come with me On a world touring journey” The great blue beast’s voice rumbled   “We will observe all the ways That all these folks spend their days To determine who is right And test your world view, so trite.” So across the world they blazed.   And everywhere that they went Between them a handful of cents Everybody shut their doors And would deny them their stores And proved the world was quite bent.   “So do you see it all now? How they all treat us like cows?” The hullabaloo proclaimed “There is no one to be blamed For humans are cruel, and how!”   But the Qoolay was not blue “If it’s all the same to you, I will keep on being kind And maybe someday we’ll find That people can be kind too.”   The Hullabaloo sighed deep And laid himself down to sleep “You keep telling yourself that And try to convince the brats. Kindness is spendy, rude’s cheap.”
