"I know I haven't written for a few days, but nothing noteworthy actually happened.  I have just been learning about this world's culture and history from Celestia.  My days have consisted of pretty much just hanging out with her in the garden and then reading up in the library.  Just as I was finishing up learning about this world, Celestia informed me that she was inviting her student to the castle to learn a bit about me.  Thankfully, she seems to have filled her student in on my world, so I won't have to go through it all again.   It seems Celestia isn't inviting her student here just to meet me, though I don't know what her scheme is yet.  I met this Twilight Sparkle for the first time today in a meeting with the princess during her usual court hours, and will be doing so again tomorrow night.  As for tonight, Twilight will be staying in the castle.  Curiously, her room is across from mine.  I'm about to head off to the library in another attempt to understand how magic works here after this entry; it's entirely possible I'll run into the little mare."   --------------------   >You sit in the library with a little entourage of basic magic books around the table.  The books were in pristine condition despite being more aged than even the history texts.  Likely these were so basic to unicorns that every colt and filly had no reason to ever read anything about it. >Whatever, you're not a unicorn. >You sat alone in the dark room, the librarian having retired a while ago.  It's starting to be significantly less weird that even a royal librarian would trust you alone in here.  Though it's a bit lonely, not even having any sound except for the clop-clopping of hooves coming towards you. >Wait what >You peer out around the bookshelf breaking line of sight to the locked gate to the library.  You can't quite see who it is, but the feminine voice is friendly to the guards.  A clinking of keys in the door tells you the mare in question has access as well. >Why would the Princess need the library at night? >Not your concern. You turn back to your books at the table trying to grasp the basics again. It just doesn't make sense... >"I know you're new to this world, but isn't this all a bit...basic?" >You jolt up in your seat, to her amusement.  You didn't even hear Twilight walk up behind you on the carpet. There's no magic in my world. I'd like to see if I can at least perform a little magic here. >"Well, yes, I understand that but this is all rudimentary. You said you were scientifically advanced but this is just..." Foal's play? >She nods, but is still expecting more.   I don't know why, but I just can't understand it. Nothing is sticking. Like, I read it, sure, and I know what the words are saying, sure, but when I try to put it together it just falls apart. >She looks concerned. "I'm afraid I don't understand...maybe I can help you later? Magic is my special talent, after all~." >You try to ignore her smug demeanor. You can't have come just to enjoy my incompetence. >"Oh no, I was looking for a world from Starswirl...ah, here it is. Starswirl the Bearded was-" I'm aware. What are you looking into exactly? >She seemed upset for a moment at the interruption, but perked up when you inquired about her research. >"Ah, well, he did some research in the inherent magic of the pony races, and...well, don't worry. You'll see soon enough." >Red flag red flag mayday See what? >"er....well, Celestia and I have been working on something for you. I'll give you a hint." She levitates a small ornate box out of her saddlebag and opens it for you, showing....a ring...? I'm flattered. >"Erm....what...?" Right, forgot, customs aren't the same. You probably don't even know what a ring is, not having fingers. >"It is a ring...you know, one that you put in your ear?" >Apparently, since there's no other 'ring' to differentiate from, they just call earrings by 'rings' here. You...got me an earring? I've never really been into that. My ears aren't even pierced. >"Oh...well, you might change your mind. I might have said too much already, good night Anon." Night Twilight. >Unable to focus on your studies, you put the books back and head to bed soon after, falling asleep wondering what the two were planning for you.
