Day 1 in Equestria Being the newcomer to an established group is always an awkward experience. Being the newcomer to an established group after coming to a new land and changing species is, well… just plain out there. I don’t know how or why I was transported to Equestria and became a pony, but it happened. Apparently no one (pony?) knew either; either that or I was just asking the wrong folks. Either way, once I got there I wasted no time in making myself and talents known. Apparently the small community of former humans had already taken care of what I thought to be a pretty important facet; a clinic for health and sick care.   A small smile crept on my face when I saw the building. My experience in the field was limited, but thankfully it seemed to be on par, if not exceeding that of the others around here. Finally, I’d be able to live out my dream, and help those with sickness or injuries. However that excitement-and my smile- soon faded as I entered the nearly empty building. What I thought would at least be a respectable clinic was hardly a large, wooden warehouse with a few beds. “H-Hello?” I timidly said as my hooves (still not used to thinking that they’re hooves) clopped on the ground. Thankfully the second thing I noticed was that the place was empty; there may have been no doctors, but luckily no patients either, which, as I turned out was an even bigger blessing than usual. Going through the (crudely) marked storerooms I soon discovered that our medical supplies were…   Nonexistent.   The sound of a heavy sigh came from my pony lips as I closed them and sat at the makeshift desk. Quickly I began to think of things that we’d need in the short term for emergencies; getting things like antibiotics and surgical equipment wouldn’t be easy to obtain at this point in the community’s life. Right now we’d need a few small things, all obtainable in the short run. Things like bandages and rubbing alcohol were top priority, with gowns, masks and gloves secondary.   "Can ponies even wear gloves? How would that work for an earth pony like me?" I thought.   Shaking my head I also began to go over a few other issues we’d face. None of us really knew about any of the new sickness here, and we couldn’t treat them even if we did. So, for right now, setting up quarantine was the best (and probably only) course of action. “Ugh this sucks,” I quietly said as I rubbed my head, frustrated at the current affair of this place. This was causing me a major headache.   Oh, yeah. I’d need painkillers too, and lots of them. The patients might as well.
