>daddy left to go to work >he left you alone today >normally you're pretty scared to be alone, but it's time to show those meanie house monsters who's boss >you grab your blanket and throw it over you like a cloak >the monsters won't be able to see you now >you patrol around the main floor >there aren't any signs of a monster near by >you take a few steps into the kitchen, slowly >not because you're afraid or anything >you just want to...catch them by surprise >you look into the kitchen >there's some leftover oatmeal from breakfast >your hunger overwhelms you and you forget all about the monsters >daddy forgot to leave any lunch for you today >you jump for the pot of oatmeal >it's too high >what should you do? >wait, you have an idea >you grab as many things as you can >nothing in particular, just all sorts of objects >you pile them on top of each other to make stairs >daddy told you about stairs >you step on them and you can go up or down >you think you want to go up >eventually you have a very unstable pile of blocks, pillows, cushions, blankets, and other random things >you even managed to push a chair over, after about fifteen minutes of using all your strength >you climb your stairs >they wobble, and you almost fall over >you're scared, but you have to keep going >you need that oatmeal >you're standing on the chair now >so close to that oatmeal >you just need to >reach >a bit >further >your teeth find the handle of the pot >you lose your balance, and the stairs, oatmeal, and you all come tumbling down >the oatmeal is cold and wet >you don't like it >your eyes fill up with tears >that fall hurt, there's cold oatmeal everywhere, you won't have anything to eat, and daddy's gonna be mad >you start crying >everything always goes wrong >first it started when you tried to make daddy a birthday cake and you fell in the batter >and then there was the time you knocked over the TV when you tried to fix it >and now this >all you have left to do is wait for daddy to come home >suddenly, you hear the front door opening >oh no no no no >daddy shouldn't be home yet >you won't have time to clean up the mess >daddy calls out for you >you don't respond, you just start licking up the oatmeal >it's yucky when it's cold, but you have to get rid of it somehow >daddy calls your name again, louder this time >you start panicking >"Hey, are you home?
