Chakra Rank In NRP a characters skill is denoted by their chakra rank. No other ranking, title, or statistic is indicative of a characters skill outside of aesthetic means. Chakra ranks are represented by the letters E-rank, D-rank, C-rank, B-rank, A-rank, and S-rank, in ascending order. The higher a characters chakra rank, the higher a characters skill is. Chakra rank is not to be confused with village rank, which, even though they may sometimes correlate, does not relate to a characters skill. Village rank is covered in one of the sections below. This is to imply realism into the role-play, and make things a little more fair for those who dedicate their time to role-play here with us. This new system will allow people to progress through the chakra rankings, regardless of their village rank. E-Rank ? D-Rank: Being active in scenes for two days. D-Rank ? C-Rank: Being active in scenes for an additional three days. C-Rank ? B-Rank: Being active in scenes for an additional seven days (one week). B-Rank ? A-Rank: Being active in scenes for an additional fourteen days (two weeks). A-Rank ? S-Rank: Being active in scenes for an additional twenty-one days (three weeks). Excessive Scening: Excessive scening is rewarded with a premature chakra rank promotion. These may only take place two days in advance. Any member of the staff is capable of determining whether or not you qualify based on the amount of updates/scenes you have logged. The times between D-rank to C-Rank is fairly low, however, so staff will be strict when regarding rewards from excessive scening between those periods. Other than that excessive scening rewards are fairly common as long as you are scening twice~ a day.   Village Rank As said beforehand, your chakra rank and your village rank are two separate things. Your village rank is decided by the leader(s) of the village you are in, as well as the people the leader has given permission to. A promotion in village rank has no effect on your chakra rank, which will not be increased from promotions in village rank, but from activity and training. The standard village ranks are shown below but some "unique" or "custom" villages or village equivalents will have their own ranks that are equal to those shown below (note: the ranks in brackets show alternate routes and rankings:   Academy Student ? Genin ? Ch?nin ? J?nin ? Kage. (Ch?nin ? Tokubetsu J?nin ? J?nin) / (Genin/Ch?nin/J?nin ? ANBU)   This being said, there is an exception: if you are creating a new character for the specific purpose of taking on the role of a high village ranking shinobi then your chakra rank may correlate with your village rank, with some restrictions. If your previous character was C-rank or higher you may make a Ch?nin (or equivalent village rank) of C-rank, and if your previous character was B-rank or higher you may make a J?nin (or equivalent village rank) of B-rank. These higher village rankings must be approved by the village leader, and you must attain those specific village rankings in order to receive the boosts in chakra ranking. This boost in chakra rank can only be attained if your previous character started at the default rank and received no such boost.   Techniques A lot like the chakra ranking system, learning a new technique (otherwise known as jutsu) will require time, according to the respective rank and power of said technique. For example, an A-ranked technique will take longer to achieve than a C-ranked technique, and vice versa. No hard proof is required, the amount of role-play necessary must be notable by some member of staff, however. If it is not notable by staff then witness accounts will usually be enough unless staff have been given reason to be suspicious about the witnesses you have chosen to vouch for your role-play. E-Rank — E-Rank Technique: 1 Day ? D-Rank Technique: 2 Days ? C-Rank Technique: 3 Days ? B-Rank Technique: 4 Days D-Rank — E-Rank Technique: 1 Day ? D-Rank Technique: 2 Days ? C-Rank Technique: 3 Days ? B-Rank Technique: 4 Days C-Rank — D-Rank Technique: 1 Day ? C-Rank Technique: 2 Days ? B-Rank Technique: 3 Days ? A-Rank Technique: 4 Days B-Rank — C-Rank Technique: 1 Day ? B-Rank Technique: 2 Days ? A-Rank Technique: 3 Days ? S-Rank Technique: 4 Days A-Rank — B-Rank Technique: 1 Day ? A-Rank Technique: 2 Days ? S-Rank Technique: 3 Days S-Rank — A-Rank Technique: 1 Day ? S-Rank Technique: 2 Days As shown in the lists above techniques become easier and quicker to learn as you progress in chakra rank, and this is intentional because realistically when learning a C-rank technique for example, it would not take an S-rank shinobi the same amount of time it would take an E-rank shinobi to learn the same technique. As you may have noticed some technique ranks drop off as you progress in the list above, and this is because they no longer take time for you to learn and you may learn those techniques instantaneously. For example an S-rank character can learn any B-rank, C-rank, D-rank, and E-rank technique instantaneously. As well as some technique ranks dropping off, some are not explicitly added because they cannot be learned at those ranks. For example an E-rank character cannot learn any technique above B-rank.   Technique Limitations Your character may only learn a certain number of techniques based on what their chakra rank is. Once your character has reached one of the limits they are no longer able to learn any more techniques of that rank until they rank up again. The technique limitations shown in the list below do not stack with ranks, for example: if your chakra rank was D-rank and you reached the 1 B-rank technique limit, when your chakra rank becomes C-rank the 1 B-rank technique you learned counts towards the new 3 B-rank technique limit. You can only learn two (2) techniques at a time unless you have a way of learning multiple techniques simultaneously though these methods will have to be validated. E-Rank — 1 C-Ranked Technique or 3 D-Ranked Techniques ? 5 E-Ranked Techniques ? No Unlimited Techniques D-Rank — 1 B-Ranked Technique or 3 C-Ranked Techniques ? 5 D-Ranked Techniques ? Unlimited E-Ranked Techniques C-Rank — 1 A-Ranked Technique or 3 B-Ranked Techniques ? 5 C-Ranked Techniques ? Unlimited D-Ranked Techniques B-Rank — 1 S-Ranked Technique or 3 A-Ranked Techniques ? 5 B-Ranked Techniques ? Unlimited C-Ranked Techniques A-Rank — 3 S-Ranked Techniques ? 5 A-Ranked Techniques ? Unlimited B-Ranked Techniques S-Rank — 5 S-Ranked Techniques ? Unlimited A-Ranked Techniques An exception to this limitation would be unique techniques and bloodline limitations that allow your character to use techniques without learning them conventionally; the Sharingan, for example, can copy other peoples techniques and allow the wielder of the Sharingan to use the technique whenever they want. Techniques copied in this way and by similar means are an exception to the limitation, so when adding them to your characters arsenal it would be wise to make copied techniques noticeable. At creation your character may start with all of the techniques available for their rank except for the highest and second highest technique rankings, you may only have 1 of the highest technique ranking or 3 of the second highest technique ranking. For example, starting off as a D-rank character you may have 1 B-rank technique or 3 C-rank techniques on top of the 5 D-rank techniques and unlimited E-rank techniques. It is NOT solely the exact representation of a characters chakra pool nor is it the exact representation of a techniques chakra pool requirement. However, a characters chakra pool is, by default, equivalent to their chakra rank unless they possess unique sources of chakra (such as Gargantuan Chakra) or external sources of chakra (such as a Tailed-Beast). If chakra rank solely indicated a characters chakra pool then all Jinchuuriki would be considered S-Rank, but fortunately it does not.   As some may misunderstand the last paragraph in the village rank section: this does not mean that just because you worked a character up to B-rank that your next one may be B-rank as well. It just means that you may make a J?nin at B-rank and not a Genin at B-rank (or any other combinations besides those listed) and this is assuming that you have received permission from the village leader to be a J?nin (or J?nin equivalent).   All custom techniques should be ranked unless they can be considered an E-rank technique that is capable of scaling with chakra rank, if they are not then a chakra rank must be listed for them. As well as this, some techniques in Naruto are not ranked (shown on the Naruto Wiki), known as "unranked" techniques. These techniques are considered to be the same rank as your character unless they are obviously a greater rank than your own, in which case the staff will rank the technique according to their belief on what it should be ranked.   - Archetypes and Unique Traits:   Posted Image ???? Posted Image Archetypes Archetypes are the skills your character specialises in and usually dictates what your character is able to learn and use. Each character can have a maximum of four archetypes, known as the Primary Archetype, Secondary Archetype, Tertiary Archetype, and Quaternary Archetype. Every character can start off with three archetypes but do not get their fourth archetype until A-rank. This being said, it is fine for your character to know one or two techniques outside of their archetypes as long as they are low-rank techniques (staff will decide whether or not unranked techniques are considered low-rank techniques in this situation so that unranked techniques are not abused). In general, though, your are not to go outside of your archetypes for your characters arsenal and doing so could result in your character being declined until the appropriate changes are made. - List of Archetypes:   ? See: Unique Traits section for more details.      — Required in order to have a second unique trait or a unique trait on a character with a Kekkei Genkai. Unique Traits Unique traits are considered to be regular characters substitute for kekkei genkai. These traits are randomly occurring in that they are not limited to bloodlines but are traits that have uniquely developed in an individual, an anomaly so to say. As a result if you possess a kekkei genkai you may not possess a unique trait as well unless you substitute one of your archetypes for the unique trait archetype, which will then allow you to choose one of the unique traits to have for your character but will leave you one archetype down, essentially. Some unique traits seen in the Naruto series are not listed here because they are listed elsewhere (most likely in the Abilities and Clans section) for various reason. One example of the unique traits not listed here is the Strongest Shield unique trait of the Third Raikage. - List of Unique Traits:   ? Chakra Absorption (???, Chakra Ky?in) Chakra absorption is a trait seen in very few individuals in the Narutoverse outside of the use of techniques. The chakra absorption unique trait allows the user to absorb chakra from any source through physical contact or through a solid medium like a wire. They may also channel this ability through their techniques as they get stronger. Chakra Sensor (???, Chakra Kanchi) Chakra sensing is a trait seen in very few individuals in the Narutoverse outside of the use of techniques. The chakra sensing unique trait allows the user to sense chakra from a variety of distances depending on the users chakra rank. This unique trait is required for all chakra sensing techniques and any form of chakra sensing (outside of eye techniques). Gargantuan Chakra (???, Kyodai Chakra) Gargantuan chakra is the trait of having an abnormally large pool of chakra. When concerning chakra reserves two things are taken into consideration: chakra control and chakra amount. Chakra amount is what is increased by having this trait, so you can use more techniques and sustain more chakra-intensive techniques for longer periods of time than the average character (use of the Sage Tools becomes possible with this trait). Unnatural Strength (????, Fushizen Ryoku) Unnatural strength is a trait seen in several characters from the Naruto series granting them strength beyond the capabilities of the average character. A character with this unique trait simply gains increased strength, capable of lifting incredible weights and hitting people with incredible amounts of force similar to Strong Fist or Chakra Enhanced Strength. Mind Reading (????, Seishin Dokusho) Mind reading is a trait that allows a character to read a persons mind with physical contact or read the surface thoughts (what they are thinking) of a persons mind if they do not have physical contact. Mental barricades can be set up to slow down the reading of the mind or negate it all together (depending on the mind readers rank in comparison with the rank of the person who set up the mental blockade). Eye Enhancement (???, Mek?y?) Though not technically a character trait as it is something that can be taught, it has been limited to a unique trait because of what it is capable of. Eye enhancement allows a character to see through illusions: it does not allow them to dispel the illusions as they must still use the standard release, but it does alert them to when they are in a genjutsu. Custom Trait (???, Rei Tokuch?) There are several other unique characteristics of some charaters in the Naruto series that are not listed here for various reasons, but that does not mean your character is limited to the unique traits shown here. You may create your own custom unique trait though it must be reasonable and will be validated by staff to ensure that it fits your character. ?]: ABILITIES, KEKKEI GENKAI & HIDEN — This Regulation lists all special technique, clans, and abilities seen through out the Naruto and Naruto Shippuden Series. After this they need only offer an additional donation of blood on the hand they signed the contract with, mould their chakra with hand seals and then plant the hand they signed the contract with at the location they wish to summon the creature. Posted Image Roleplaying Style In Habbo Hotel and Habbo Hotel's respective Retro Hotels there are two distinct and common styles of roleplay. These two styles of roleplay are known as descriptive roleplay (otherwise known as 'desc') and emotive roleplay (otherwise known as 'emote'). Each style of roleplay is unique and when a roleplay is made on Habbo Hotel or a Retro Hotel the roleplay will usually decide on a main style of roleplay for its members to use. NRP's main style of roleplay is descriptive roleplay, which takes priority over emotive roleplay. What this means is that during a scene, descriptive roleplay is always permitted, but this does not mean members of the roleplay are restricted from emotive roleplaying. Emotive roleplay is permitted so long as all members of the scene agree on it. Be careful when doing this outside of private scenes (covered in another section) though because as soon as someone else who does not want to emote enters the scene, they can force the style of roleplay back to descriptive roleplay as it takes priority. Descriptive Roleplay: As stated, this is the style of roleplay that takes priority over any other style of roleplay in NRP. Descriptive roleplay is a style of roleplay where you do not have to wait for any responses from the people you are roleplaying with, and actions are performed and made successful or unsuccessful depending on how quickly you can roleplay the action being successful or how quickly your opponent can roleplay defending against the action. Speed and strategy are factors in descriptive roleplay and as a result it is the most competitive of the two distinct styles.   Emotive Roleplay: As stated, this style of roleplay is permitted only if all conditions are met (see: Roleplaying Style). Emotive roleplay is a style of roleplay where you have to wait for responses from the people you are roleplaying with, and actions are performed and made successful or unsuccessful depending on how "realistically" those actions are able to be performed and how "realistically" each roleplayer is able to interpret the capabilities of their character, and the characters of the people they are roleplaying with. Strategy and realism are factors in emotive roleplay and as a result it is the most realistic of the two distinct styles. There are other styles of roleplay such as pseudo-emotive roleplay, though it is not popular enough nor consistent enough in its rules to be listed. Feel free to roleplay in the various amount of styles available to you though their rules will not hold any weight when it comes to decisions being made, only the rules of descriptive roleplay are taken seriously. This being said, for those of you that are new to Habbo Hotel or one of the Retro Hotels and are not familiar with this style of roleplay but are familiar with forum roleplay, the sections below will clarify for descriptive roleplay but not for the other styles of roleplay as it is not necessary.   Portraying Actions Lines are what a roleplayer use to interact with the roleplaying world. Whether it be from talking, thoughts, or actions. Lines are synonymous with each of these, though they are performed in different ways depending on the prefix and suffix used in the lines. For example, when your character is talking, no prefix or suffix is necessary in a line. When your character is thinking, it is common to for the prefix/suffix to be open and closed parenthesis: "( Thought here. )" or double semicolons: ";; Thought here. ;;" though these are not what you are limited to, and you can use any other noticeable and blatantly obvious type-functions to enable a thinking event. Action lines are a lot more strict and in order to perform an action line the prefux/suffix of the line must be either an asterisk (*) or a hyphen (-). It is common for people to typo the prefix/suffix for action lines and this is excusable so long as it is not intended. All of these apply to in character (IC) lines. When out of character (OOC) your lines should contain a prefix/suffix of open and closed parenthesis: "[ Out of character text here. ]" or "Out of character text here. []" are common, though it is not always necessary if it is obvious that you are out of character.   Now that the different types of lines have been defined and made clear, there are restrictions to lines that limit them to make roleplay fair and competitive. The more specific restrictions will be listed below, though some worth noting are spamming restrictions, and number of actions per line restrictions. Spamming is not condoned and as a result there is a limit to the number of words per action line in combat (the number of words per action line outside of combat does not matter). The current limit to the number of words per action line in combat is seven (7). This being said, it does not completely stop spam as faster typers are easily able to reach the minimum amount and use the minimum amount of words per line, this is fine though looked down on if you are a faster roleplayer capable of more. The number of actions a character is able to perform in a single line is unlimited as long as all actions are capable of being performed simultaneously. An example is shown below, as well as a list of notable restrictions to action lines: One line to perform an attack: *I send my fist to your face in an attempt to punch you with full force*   One line to defend against an attack: *I avoid your punch by leaning to the side, your fist passing my head*   Two lines to connect (hit) an attack: Attack: *I send my fist to your face in an attempt to punch you with full force* Connect: *My fist comes into contact with your face, hitting you with all of my strength*   Two lines to perform a technique (jutsu) with hand seals: Hand Seals: *I bring my hands together and formulate a string of various hand seals* Technique: *A poof of smoke appears next to me, forming a shadow clone in its place*   Three lines to impair movement with an attack: Attack: *I send my arms around your body to grab you* Connect: *My arms would wrap around your body and tie your limbs to you* Effect: *You would be unable to move your limbs under my force*   Three lines to insert foreign substances, or place a seal with an attack: Attack: *I take a tag out of my pouch with a seal on it and throw it onto your body* Connect: *It lands on your back and activates immediately after landing* Effect: *Your chakra would be blocked by the seal I placed on your back*   Three lines to completely escape trackers and/or a scene: Escape 1: *I run into the nearby forest and away from you guys* Escape 2: *Hidden by the shadow of the forest you are unable to see me as I run* Escape 3: *I eventually get too far and completely escape from you guys*   Five lines to dismember a limb, incapacitate, or seal away a target with an attack: Attack: *I swing my blade towards your shoulder with all of my force* Connect: *My blade hits your body, cutting your clothes and tearing into you* Layer 1: *Your skin is cut by my blade, the force I apply forcing it deeper* Layer 2: *Your muscle is cut through by my blade, cutting you like bread* Layer 3/Dismember: *Finally your bone is cut through, and your arm chopped straight off*   Seven lines to kill a target with an attack: Attack: *I swing my blade towards your chest with all of my force* Connect: *My blade hits your body, cutting your clothes and tearing into you* Layer 1: *Your skin is cut by my blade, the force I apply forcing it deeper* Layer 2: *Your muscle is cut through by my blade, cutting you like bread* Layer 3: *Your ribs are cut through, but the blade does not stop and goes for your heart* Layer 4: *Finally your heart is cut through, cutting straight through your body* Death: *As a result of piercing your heart with my blade, you die* Something to note is that genjutsu is considered an attack, though what type of attack it is considered is dependant on whether or not the genjutsu immobilises the target in reality. If the genjutsu does not immobilise the target in reality, then it is considered a standard attack and as a result only takes two lines to connect; if the genjutsu does immobilise the target in reality, then it is considered a movement impairing attack and as a result takes three lines to connect. As well as this, in the list above several layers are mentioned in the last two examples. These layers represent the skin (layer 1, 3 lines), the muscle (layer 2, 4 lines), the bone (layer 3, 5 lines), and the organs (layer 4, 6 lines). They are important because when inflicting damage to the target, the number of lines you reached is the maximum amount of damage you could have caused. For example, if you poisoned a target and only managed to get four lines in before they removed the poison, the maximum amount of damage you could have caused to the target would be no more than a muscle wound or muscle-equivalent wound.   Portraying Unique Actions Over the course of NRP several unique roleplaying mechanics have been implemented in order to limit and/or improve certain techniques and abilities, which as a result improves the roleplay experience. Many of these unique roleplaying mechanics go against the standard line restrictions shown previously and as a result may cause confusion to those who do not know them all too well, it is also because of their permitted allowance to go against the standard line restrictions that most of them are limited in some way. There are not many as most of them were made several years ago by older generations of NRPers and as a result most NRPers of today have gotten used to the unique mechanics behind them, which makes it difficult for newer generations of NRPers to implement unique roleplaying mechanics. Substitution Technique is an E-rank Academy Student technique commonrly referred to by its Japanese name: Kawarimi no Jutsu or simply Kawarimi. The substitution technique allows its users to replace their body with some other object, generally with a block of wood, the moment an attack lands. This creates an optical illusion, making the enemy think the attack was successful. In NRP this technique can be performed three (3) times without hand seals in order to avoid further damage, so all damage sustained is still taken by the user, it simply allows them a reliable form of escape and further damage negation. If the user makes hand seals for the technique and then they are attacked and sustain damage, they can reveal that they were actually a substitute all along and that all damage sustained was never actually inflicted. The substitution technique is a form of high-speed movement and cannot escape movement impairment effects if no hand seal was made. For example:   Substitution Technique without hand seals: Shinobi 1: *I take a kunai from my pouch and throw it towards your body* Shinobi 1: *The kunai connects with your body, cutting into you and going deeper* Shinobi 1: *The kunai cuts into your skin and moves deeper to continue piercing you* Shinobi 1: *It would cut the muscles of your flesh whilst the momentum pushes it deeper* Shinobi 2: *I poof into a cloud of smoke to reveal a log in the position where I once was* Shinobi 2 sustained a muscle-deep wound and the kunai would be left in the log.   Substitution Technique with hand seals: Shinobi 2: *I bring my hands together to make a quick set of hand seals* Shinobi 1: *I take a kunai from my pouch and throw it towards your body* Shinobi 1: *The kunai connects with your body, cutting into you and going deeper* Shinobi 1: *The kunai cuts into your skin and moves deeper to continue piercing you* Shinobi 1: *It would cut the muscles of your flesh whilst the momentum pushes it deeper* Shinobi 2: *I poof into a cloud of smoke to reveal a log in the position where I once was* Shinobi 2 sustained no wounds and the kunai would be left in the log.   Predictive Dodging is the ability to predict an attack and avoid it. If you possess the ability to predictively dodge but cannot predict the attack is coming then you cannot predictively dodge it. It is a form of reactively defending, as you must state predictively dodging your opponents attack after the attack has been made and after it has connected, and the unique roleplaying mechanic that is introduced through this is that it effectively allows a person to avoid an attack after the attack has already connected, but only if no damage has yet to be roleplayed (i.e. no more lines after the connection line has been roleplayed by the attacker). If the attacker managed to roleplay a damage line after the attack connected, then you cannot predictively dodge it. For example:   Successfully predictively dodging an attack: Shinobi 1: *I take a kunai from my pouch and throw it towards your body* Shinobi 1: *The kunai connects with your body, cutting into you and going deeper* Shinobi 2: *I avoid the kunai by predicting its approach with my active Sharingan* Shinobi 2 was never hit by the kunai as a result of predictively dodging it.   Unsuccessfully predictively dodging an attack: Shinobi 1: *I take a kunai from my pouch and throw it towards your body* Shinobi 1: *The kunai connects with your body, cutting into you and going deeper* Shinobi 1: *The kunai cuts into your skin and moves deeper to continue piercing you* Shinobi 2: *I avoid the kunai by predicting its approach with my active Sharingan* Shinobi 2 was hit by the kunai and sustained a skin-deep wound. With the addition of unique roleplaying mechanics comes the question of whether or not they are suitable to be used in customs, and the answer is for the most part, yes. In the Naruto series many variations of the substitution technique exist and they are all eligible to be used in the same way that the standard substitution technique is, though it does not matter which variant you use you may only use the substitution technique and its many variations three times without hand seals. Predictive dodging is also something that can be used in customs, though because of the flat out advantage it gives to the predictive dodger without any downsides, staff will be strict when determining whether or not a custom creation is able to grant the use of predictive dodging and if they feel that too many creations are granting use of predictive dodging then they have the power to deny your creations use of it.   Portraying Defences Defences are as important as attacks in terms of roleplay and so there are certain mechanics behind defences that need to be clarified. In order for a defence to become a valid defence you must first state that the defence is there, that it is actively defending you. Once a defence has been stated, how your defence goes about defending you is dependant on whether or not it is a passively defending defence or a reactively defending defence. Passively defending defences will defend you passively from the appropriate attacks and what this means is that you will not have to roleplay your defence defending you from attacks if they are passively able to do so, but your opponent will have to roleplay bypassing them in the appropriate way. For example: if you state wearing Samurai Armour at the beginning of a scene and your opponent throws a kunai at you, in order for the kunai to cause any damage to you your opponent has to state bypassing your armour, which will come after the attack and connection lines. Passively defending defences include all defences that your opponent logically has to get through in order to damage you (walls, barriers, armours, and etc.). Reactively defending defences will defend you reactively from the appropriate attacks, but you have to state defending yourself with them at the right time, after the attack is sent and before it hits. Reactively defending defences include all defences that have to react to your opponents attacks in order to damage you (Shield of Sand, snakes hovering around you, and etc.).   Active and Inactive Characters In NRP you are only allowed to roleplay one character at a time, and this character is known as your active character. You have the choice to get rid of your active character by retiring it or having it killed, though so long as you have one active character you cannot have another. Swapping characters in NRP is relatively common though if a member of staff thinks you are swapping characters too often they are able to punish you how they see fit. This is because each scene involving other roleplayers is a unique scene and it can be very disruptive to some peoples characters if you suddenly leave your character for another.   Death and Incapacitation There are two ways to force someone else's character into inactivity (to stop them from being able to be roleplayed). One way for a character to become inactive is if they are killed, and it is the most common way for a character to become inactive. Characters that have been killed are not able to be roleplayed any more, unless they are revived in character through means such as Edo Tensei and other means capable of revival. Another way for a character to become inactive is if they are permanently or controllably incapacitated in some way. Characters that have been incapacitated are not able to be roleplayed any more, unless they are somehow saved from their incapacitated state by any means appropriate. Some examples of incapacitated states are: being sealed away, being continuously injected with a drug that induces such a state, and any other means.   Retirement and Restoration There is one optional way that you are able to make your active character inactive, and that is by retiring your character. Once a character has been retired it is moved into the storage area of the forums, where topics that are no longer active/in use are placed. When you retire your character you lose all possessions your character once had and forfeit any limited abilities they once had. For example: if you were a Sharingan-eligible Uchiha that had the Sword of Kusanagi, when you retire your character your Sword of Kusanagi cannot be passed onto your new character and must be passed on to someone else in character before you retire or will be available to anyone who wants to claim it as theirs in character. As well as this you lose your Sharingan-eligible Uchiha permanently until your spot comes back around (assuming you want to be re-added to the Uchiha list). Once your character is retired you have the option to restore them back to activity though they will be forced back to the current default chakra ranking and will not retain anything they once had when they were previously active besides their knowledge and techniques. Note that, once a biography has been restored they have the maximum of 24 hours to be asked for their biography to be moved back into the designated location or else you forfeit your spot for everything listed above. Meaning: If you restore your character and change your mind, you still have the chance to move it back to where ever it belonged to and still have all of your items and belongings, same goes with inactivity warnings as well. If you un-restore a character after 24 hours, your character will lose all of the items and acquired things it had, along with starting back at D-rank once again. If your Bloodline limit or technique is in use, you will have to wait to re-use that technique or ability once again.   Lands and Villages In the Narutoverse the world is divided into continents, and the main story of Naruto takes place on the shinobi continent. The shinobi contintent is divided into lands that are owned by Daimyo. Each land has a Daimyo and is ruled by the Daimyo, whose military strength usually comes from shinobi villages (with some exceptions like the Land of Iron whose military strength comes from Samurai). The title of Daimyo can be claimed by anyone, there is no beforehand requirement. Though claiming the title of Daimyo can be dangerous as if the inhabitants of the land do not see you fit for Daimyo they can remove you from the position forcefully. In NRP shinobi villages are a common occurrence somewhere in the storyline, as well as settlements that are equivalent to shinobi villages but not exactly shinobi villages. For example, in Naruto the Land of Iron's forces are primarily samurai, but their military might is equal to that of shinobi villages, which makes them a "village-equivalent" settlement. Villages and village-equivalents receive several perks to help them progress with the storyline and make a greater impact, but because of this several restrictions and limitations have been put in place regarding their creation, as well as their destruction.   Village Construction and Destruction In order to construct a village/village-equivalent you must first reach the required chakra rank and then gather enough members for your village. The minimum chakra rank required for you to construct a village is B-rank and the minimum amount of members required to construct a village is six (6, including you). Once a village has been constructed it cannot be destroyed unless the leader of the village or at least two B-rank members of the village are present (in character) and able to defend the village. If two B-rank members of the village are present (in character) but choose not to defend the village then the village can still be destroyed because even its own members will not defend it. Attacks on villages are allowed, though the damage caused cannot be significant enough to lead to the destruction of the village and there must be defenders present (in character, regardless of rank).   Village Perks Once your village has been successfully made it will receive several perks given to it in order to help it progress with the storyline. Once the conditions stated in the previous paragraph have been met your village will be added to the forums as its own forum in the Countries and Villages section. The leader of the village will be given moderator rights in that forum section (if the staff trust that person enough to handle the responsibility of moderator rights) as well as the leader's advisor(s) (if an advisor has been appointed). As well as this, for every three Genin (or Genin-equivalent) members of the village, the village leader will have the option of promoting a character (existing or new) to J?nin (J?nin-equivalent) at B-rank and for every three Academy Student (or Academy Student-equivalent) members of the village, the village leader will have the option of promoting a character (existing or new) to Ch?nin (Ch?nin-equivalent) at C-rank, provided they are eligible for such promotions (see: Character Progression and Technique Development guideline). Posts: 99 Group: Administrator Member #4 Joined: Mar 10, 2014 Notes: We have tried to cover as many of the rules as I can think of in this topic in order to reduce the chances of coming across "unwritten rules" that have been brought up so frequently in NRPs in the past, though I am not sure whether or not I covered all of them. As a result, this topic is still being refined and rules that are considered "unwritten rules" will be added to the topic when I can think of them or when they are brought to my attention. If you can think of any rules that are missing please PM me or a staff member and they will be added. We do not want any unwritten rules in NRP.   Movement impairment and space confinement are two different things in roleplay and should not be confused. Impairing the movement of a target does so by affecting the target directly, where as confining a target to a certain space is done by affecting the space around the target but not directly interacting with the target in any way. The two cases are commonly seen in barrier techniques, for example:   Attack: *I would make a hand seal, and channel my chakra around you in preparation for my technique* Connect/Confine: *My chakra solidifies around you, it taking the form of a sphere from a barrier* Effect/Impair: *You find that you are unable to move and are trapped inside of the spherical barrier*   If the target being attacked managed to roleplay movement after the second line (connect/confine) and before the third line (effect/impair), the attacker may roleplay his target hitting the walls of the barrier in the third line, and then their movement being impaired and the target being immobilised. This is because even though they were still able to move after the second line, they are not able to move out of the confines of the barrier unless they acknowledge the barrier being in the way and state in their movement line bypassing the barrier in order to move out of its confined space.   Chakra and Nature Transformations:   Posted Image ???? Posted Image Chakra Chakra (????, chakura) is essential to even the most basic technique; it is the moulding of the physical energy (???????, shintai enerug?) present in every cell of the body and the spiritual energy (???????, seishin enerug?) gained from exercise and experience. Once moulded, it can be channelled through the chakra circulatory system, which is to chakra as the regular circulatory system is to blood, to any of the 361 chakra points (called tenketsu) in the body. Through various methods, the most common of which is hand seals, the chakra can then be controlled and manipulated to create an effect that would not be possible otherwise, such as walking on water, exhaling fire or creating illusions.   By moulding different ratios of the two energies, new colours and much stronger types of chakra can be formed. Most ninja have a natural affinity to one type of chakra, but they have the capacity to create elemental chakra apart from their own affinity. There are five basic types, each stronger and weaker to another, but their relations, weaknesses, and strengths to each other are all explored. There is also the dealing of Yin and Yang and the balance of mental and physical energies. In addition to these five elements, certain kekkei genkai can mix elemental chakra to form new natures, for example it is possible to mix water and wind into ice. While many ninja can use more than one type of chakra, very few are able to use them simultaneously.   Normal chakra is a form of life energy all living individuals naturally produce to some degree. Contained in the "chakra coils" that mainly surround and connect to each chakra-producing organ, the energy circulates throughout the body in a network called the "chakra circulatory system" (similar to the cardiovascular system). Certain groups, such as ninja, have learned to generate more chakra and release it outside their bodies through their "chakra points" (tenketsu) in order to perform special techniques (jutsu). Chakra is not normally visible to the human eye, though chakra can be seen in situations where a person releases as much of their chakra as possible. This is rarely seen due to the restrictions of certain chakra points (Eight Gates), limiting the amount of chakra an individual can release at a single given time. Chakra can also be visible when doing specific techniques (such as the Rasengan) which take an even high degree of chakra control/manipulation to perform.   Chakra is the resulting form of energy when two other forms of energy are mixed together. The two energies are referred to as "physical energy" and "spiritual energy". Physical energy is collected from the body's cells and can be increased through training, stimulants, and exercise. Spiritual energy is derived from the mind's consciousness (i.e. the soul) and can be increased through studying, meditation, and experience. Having these two energies become more powerful will in-turn make the created chakra more powerful. Therefore, practising a technique repeatedly will build-up experience, building up one's spiritual energy, and thus allowing more chakra to be created. As a result, the ninja is able to do that same technique with more power. This same cycle applies for physical energy, except this time, instead of doing things like meditation, the ninja could, say, do push-ups.   Basic Nature Transformations Nature Transformation (????, Seishitsu Henka) is an advanced form of chakra control. It entails the moulding and defining of one's chakra into an innate type of chakra nature, altering its properties and characteristics. Nature transformation is one of two necessary techniques for creating a technique, its counterpart being shape transformation. Few shinobi can use both shape manipulation and nature manipulation. There are five basic types into which the nature of chakra can be transformed, called the Five Elements Nature Transformations (??????, Godai Seishitsu Henka). These five types are also called elements and are not only the origin of the names of the Five Great Shinobi Countries, but also the foundation of all elemental ninjutsu. The five basic natures are all connected to each other in a circle, each being weaker than one and stronger than another. Posted Image Fire Release is one of the basic elemental nature transformations. It is performed by molding super-heated chakra inside the stomach before releasing it via the lungs and mouth. There are also variants to this in the form of some mediums such as the use of gun powder, explosive tags and chakra flow into a weapon. Commonly affiliated with the Tiger hand seal, Fire Release consists of mid to long-ranged offensive techniques that cause combustive and explosive damage.   Posted Image Wind Release is one of the five basic elemental nature transformations. It is performed by making chakra as sharp and thin as possible. Wind Release is mainly short to mid-ranged offensive techniques that combine brute force and keen precision to deal cutting and slashing damage. A rarity among the five chakra natures, wind techniques are usually performed by generating air circulation and can be enhanced through this method as well. Wind-natured chakra can also be channelled into blades to increase their cutting power and overall range.   Posted Image Lightning Release is one of the five basic elemental nature transformation techniques that allows the user to generate lightning by increasing the high frequency vibrations of their chakra, allowing for piercing damage and fast movement. The electricity paralyses the target so that they are unable to move and leave them vulnerable to a finishing strike. While uncommon, lightning can be infused into bladed weapons in a way similar to Wind Release through chakra flow for increased piercing power through vibrations, with the added effect of inducing numbness. When the technique is released from their bodies, and thus not requiring physical contact, it does not move as fast as true lightning. Instead, due to the control the user has to exert over it, it moves far slower, which can give opponents time to still react.   Posted Image Earth Release is one of the basic elemental nature transformation techniques and allow the user to manipulate the surrounding earth for offensive and defensive purposes or create it; be it dirt, mud, or rock. Earth Release techniques have the ability to change the strength and composition of the earth from being as hard as metal to as soft as clay, as well as manipulating their density, making them heavier or lighter. Pre-existing earth is not necessary though, for the user can create it with their own chakra. Earth release commonly affiliated with the Snake seal and/or slamming their palm onto the ground.   Posted Image Water Release is one of the basic elemental nature transformation techniques that allow the user to manipulate pre-existing water, or create their own, by turning their chakra into water. It takes much more ability to create the water outside the body than to manipulate what is already available or expel it from their mouths. One of the most versatile of the five basic chakra natures, Water Release techniques can not only change shape but state as well. Moreover, the water becomes more solid in the process as well. Offensive water techniques seem to inflict harm from the sudden force that they exert, which would cause massive internal damage to a human. In general, every person has chakra that has an affinity towards one of these types, a characteristic that seems to be genetic, since whole clans sometimes share the same affinity. Most members of the Uchiha clan, for example, had an affinity towards the Fire nature. To find out what affinity someone has, pieces of paper made from a special type of tree (that is grown and fed with chakra) are used that react to even the slightest hint of chakra in any of a number of ways, depending on the nature latent in the chakra. This affinity makes it easier to learn how to create and control the nature in question, although even with an affinity this process will usually take any number of years. Shinobi are not limited to the nature they have an affinity to, though. By the time they reach B-rank, most shinobi have mastered two natures. Because of the difficulty of mastering a nature and the time required to learn it, it is almost impossible for any one person to master all five natures through natural methods. However Hiruzen Sarutobi was able to master all five natures.   Advanced Nature Transformations Besides the five basic nature types, there are several more advanced types. By initiating more than one basic chakra nature transformation simultaneously, one can create a completely new nature of chakra with unique properties, and is referred to as an "elementally-recomposed nature type". Doing this requires a special ability and such abilities are rarely seen outside a kekkei genkai or kekkei t?ta. In the anime, it is stated that those with the ability to utilize advanced natures possess an affinity for the chakra natures they must simultaneously activate. Aside from the five basic types of nature transformation, there is also a sixth type: the Yin (?, In), the basis of imagination and spiritual energy, used to perform Yin Release (??, Inton); and the Yang (?, Y?), the basis of vitality and physical energy, used to perform Yang Release (??, Y?ton). Together, they are used to perform Yin–Yang Release (???, Onmy?ton). Yamato implied that the Yin and Yang are the source of non-elemental techniques such as the Shadow Imitation Technique, Multi-Size Technique, medical ninjutsu, genjutsu, etc. The transformation of the Yin and Yang seemingly has to do with altering the amounts of and balance between spiritual and physical energy in chakra. As explained by Shikamaru Nara, Tayuya's spirit worms were forms of spiritual energy that have small amounts of physical energy, thus they require stability and feed upon the physical energy they lack. Shikamaru also mentioned that Tayuya was the same type of ninja as he is, being able to use such kinds of "special chakra" in battle, supporting the belief that the Nara clan's shadow-based techniques are also Yin and Yang-based.   ?????Marcus Mar 25 2014, 04:36 PM Post #2 Member Avatar   Posts: 492 Group: Administrator Member #1 Joined: Mar 10, 2014 Real Name: — MarcusDaddy Retro Name: — Marcuskun Character Name: — Jin Notes: The combined natures for the advanced nature transformations (Ice Release, Wood Release, Lava Release, Boil Release, Storm Release, and Scorch Release) have been chosen based on what has been shown in the manga, anime, and movies.
