Mono  walked towards the schoolhouse, giving one last glance to his mother before stepping inside, with each step he takes filling him with a sudden feeling of anxiety as other young ponies pass by him rushing into thier classes. [...ok...relax Mono, you've done this before. Like...alot. It's just school, just step over to the classroom and.....find a seat.] Mono gave a slight nod to himself and stepped into his class. He took a small look around.  The seats weren't completely full, and Bitterroot was rummaging carefully through his papers. Mono decided to take a quick look at his cutie mark, having missed it before. [A lightbulb? Always thought the name matched the drapes, eheh]. Mono edged over to Bitterroot, taking notice some of his fellow classmates either looking at him or ignoring him, talking amongst themselves. Mono looked about, he didn't know if he could sit anywhere or if he had a designated seat. It was the middle of the year after all.  "Mr.Bitterroot?" Bitterroot immediatly stopped what he was doing and looked over to Mono, adjusting his glasses abit. >Bitterroot: Good morning Mono, how are you this morning? [that's...pretty friendly for a teacher...] Mono felt awkward, wether because he was drawing parralels again or his memory of school was a touch more unfriendly, he looked up at Bitterroot with uncertainty and answered "oh umm, I'm fine. Just here for school and...stuff. ummm...which speaking of which. Can I sit anywhere or is there a specific seat or..." >Bitterroot:  You will be sitting next to Glitter Dust... Bitterroot took notice of Mono's worry, and gave him an encouraging smile. >Bitterroot:  Mono, you look abit troubled. Are you alright? "oh. No just abit of the jitters, you know.  second grade. That's pretty high up, you know?" Bitterroot saw through this, he could see the poor colt was just not used to being around others his own age. He wondered if he ever even had a playmate before. He pointed a hoof towards Glitter Dust. >Bitterroot:  Well you mustn't worry, Glitter Dust is only alittle over  a year older than you are. And she is quite friendly. I've already had the liberty of having her settle you in for class. But remember Mono, once class actually starts. I expect silence until spoken to, alright? "Yes sir" Mono took a glance over to Glitter Dust as he walked over to his seat. Her fur was as white as his, But her mane was a disheveled mess of red, blue, purple, and green. But her tail was long, and well kept, with a cute little pink bow attached near the base, and her horn, she was a unicorn it seemed. She was waving her hoof as hard as she could like a beacon to call him over. Mono just stared as he sat down on his seat. [Well....she's enthusiastic]. Glitter Dust gave such a happy endearing grin towards Mono, but it seemed he wasn't too up for it, it made him feel uneasy. >Glitter: Hi! I'm Glitter Dust! Mono sat silently for a moment [ok....really enthusastic] "ahrm..well..hmm..I'm Mono Rail" [Why is my last name Rail anyway? I never got that] Glitter's smile turned into a look of uncertainty, but that soon vanished as she grinned and tilted her head. >Glitter:"come ooonnn, aren't you happy right now? It's a new school day! and were gonna be great friends, I know it!" Mono leaned back abit [Friends...Already?! what the hell? We havn't even really met yet!] "Hey now...hey..we just met, I mean. I don't even know anything about you" >Glitter: My name is Glitter Dust, I am seven in a month, I loooooooove animals, and drawing, and dolls,  annndd....ummm....drawing! Oh and I'm a girl! and ummm...a few friends, but I can only see them after school because I was smart enough to skip a grade. Oh...OHHH...and I like kitties! Now it's your turn! Mono coughed [that's....not what I..ok...I guess I know things about...wait..my turn?] "My turn? wait hey, look. You can't just expect me to just tell you stuff about myself just because you told me all that." Glitter frowned, and turned and looked at her desk. >Glitter:....sorry, I just heard...you didn't have any friends. and I wanted to make you happy. And...and well, I actually do want to be your friend. Mono cringed [Oh come...come on...don't do...why would you even suddenly want to.. WE JUST MET!!!...grrr...dammit. no...screw that, we just met. I am not just gonna have a first friend because she decided to feel sorry for me. I'm better than that] Mono composed himself and looked towards the door as more young ponies came in, it seemed there was about ten more minutes until class started, according to the clock. "Well that's nice but I don't need a pity friend. Besides, aren't you supposed to be telling me about this class?" How cold, but this was Mono's nature when around those he barely knew and weren't in authority or just seemed annoying. It was only his parents he truly cared about in his heart. But this Glitter Dust seemed to be nothing more than an annoying child. He was hoping nobody else was like this. Glitter just looked and stared at her desk silently, and sniffed abit. >Glitter: Well...theres not much to tell...we just listen to Mr.Bitterroot's lectures and do our work...he's nice though even if he seems not nice...and...thats it...theres everything you need inside the desk, the top opens up...and..stuff... Her voice was no longer bubbly, but that of one who just seemed to have thier soul sucked out. Glitter only wanted to welcome Mono and be a good pony. She had to leave her friends behind class wise due to her parents and teacher insisting she go up a grade due to her explamatory work. So she never had a chance to make any friends herself in this class, and felt Mono might have felt the same way. Mono just flipped his desk open then shut, then open, then shut. It amused him abit. >Glitter: I hope you have a really good time.... "Well thank you, I think I'm gonna...." Mono looked over to Glitter and finally noticed that suddenly she was in shambles.  She suddenly looked awful, even the pink bow seemed to droop in depression. [You....can't...be serious.  Hey...c..don't do that. You can't be sad just because....fucking dammit] "Wh...what's wrong?" [And please don't say because I didn't want to be your friend...please] Glitter didn't turn her head. >Glitter:....nothing... "Look..." And that's when Mono felt it, that twist of guilt grabbing onto his heart. [No,no,no,no....bullshit. I'm not going to feel bad o....mnnn...dammit why do girl ponies have to look so fucking adorable?!?! Goddammit she's like a puppy! I.....ugh...] "Look...I didn't mean to upset you." >Glitter: it's ok.....I shouldn't have done that anyway...you don't even know me. "Yeah but...." [....fucking...fine...god...I feel like a dick..] "maybe I shouldn't have been so harsh, ummm...I don't really know what I like yet, you can say...everything seems so new to me all the time. Eheh, says alot about getting my cutie mark if I can't even figure out what I like huh?" Glitter looked over at him, her face still filled with sadness. >Glitter: Well I don't have mine either....but, we'll get one...one day. Mono felt more and more guilt wrenched the more this went on, he just wanted it to end. He sighed [Well, I guess that's enough for someone that young to have a reason being a friend....so] "Well, now umm..we know eachother alittle better so..." >Glitter: hmmm? Glitter stared into his eyes, wondering what he was going to say next. "I...guess we can be friends...now? I guess? Glitter immediatly beamed a smile and got from her seat and hugged him, unlike his mother's firm loving hugs. This hug was soft as a new feather pillow, and extremely gentle. >Glitter: Yay! I'm really really really really glad! Mono just stood there, he felt better, and the guilt washed off. But now there was the awkward hug in a classroom. [Dear...fucking....god...what have I just unleashed upon myself?] He seemed unamused, but the hug was soothing. But some of the other classmates seemed to find this little show amusing. What a way to start the school day.
