>Standing before the railroad tracks leading out of Fillydelphia were you and your bags >Opting to leave the city early was not on your list to begin with, and your still not sure why your leaving at all. But something in the back of your mind was telling you to leave >Slowly but surely the train approached on the track heading out to P0nyville >You took the bags in hand and begin to board the train, taking only one last glance at the city in full daylight >"WAAAAIT!" >A very exhausted looking Vinyl Scratch was running to the train, more specifically, to you "Vinyl?" >Oh look I was right >Brain, what are you talking about? >Foreshadowing >"..Anon...you're leaving...already?" >Smoke billowed from the train as it blew its whistle, all aboard who's going aboard "Yeah...I am." >A pin could be heard from the silence that fell between the two of you. The fucking train was the only thing that was breaking the ice >"Why..?" >Again that question was popping up, and you had no real damn answer for it >Well, think of something quick. She's waiting for an answer "There's something I need to do back home." >The conductor up front yells to everyone at the station, but more importantly addresses it at the two of you, "Last call for P0nyville, All Aboard!" >Vinyl Scratch turns from watching the conductor and gives you a confused and hurt look >"P0nyville?" >Your head moves a bit as to acknowledge her question >Damn, why was she sounding so sad? You could handle looking at Fluttershy when she got all pouty and sad but this was just... heart wrenching >It was as if Vinyl Scratch knew which of your buttons to press in order to rustle your jimmies, like she had been your friend for so long "Yeah, P0nyville was my home away from home." >The use of a past-tense word seems to catch her mind, but she doesn't pursue the matter. While you fail to realize you used the past-tense word 'was' and not 'is' >"Will..." >She seems to be struggling to say the words on her mind >"Will...I ever see you again?" >A light blush spreads from her cheeks as the train whistle blows three times, signaling it was time to shove off >You give Vinyl a coy yet warming smile as the train lurches forward and slowly begins to build up speed >She doesn't want to leave you without an answer so she begins to follow the train and you as far as she can >"Anon.." "I promise..." >She almost trips mid-gallop >"Huh?" "I promise I'll come back and see you. I promise you, we'll see each other again." >Even behind those glasses you can tell her eyes went wide and her mouth hung open a fraction as she began to slow down and eventually stop following you and the train >What you said, why did it sound so damn sappy? Like from a bad romance movie >The train station and Vinyl Scratch were slowly fading into small dots, along with the rest of the big city, it was all fading into one big blur on the horizon >A smile in hand you took your seat in the train and watched the terrain pass by from the window >The world really was beautiful in the light of day as well as the light of night   ------------------   >You are Vinyl Scratch >You just watched the train carry Anon out of town and away from you, his words still echoed in your mind, "We'll meet again..." >With a 'hmph' you kick a nearby rock onto the tracks and walk back to the city >It was a first time ever seeing the city in the morning light like this, normally sleep took over by now >Mares and Stallions were busy waking up and getting to work while you had nothing to do until the night >Still you could not shake Anon and his words from your mind as your walk ended by the fountain >Magically taking off the glasses, your reflection stares back at you with its own magenta colored eyes >With a sigh you put the glasses back on, but the reflection doesn't. It still stares with its magenta eyes right at you >"Go." >You blink dumbfounded at what was talking to you "Huh?" >"You want to see him more right? Go get him." >With that the reflection rippled in the water and became yours once more, leaving you to wonder what just happened >How you wished sometimes you could talk with your brain and figure out things with it >You walk away from the fountain down the stone roads, the constant clack of hooves filled your ears along the way >The door to Buckin' Beats clicked shut behind you, the room was vacient besides the custodian earth p0ny sweeping the floors "Is Rhapsody in?" >The stallion looked up from his broom and pointed his head at the cracked backdoor before returning to his job >You want to say something more to him, tell him thanks for this, but you open the door and enter Rhapsodys' room >"Vinyl! How ya doin'?" >Rhapsody got out of his chair and swung a hoof around your neck in greeting "I'm fine." >He led you to the center of the room and after letting you take a place before his desk, returned to his chair >"That guy last night, boy could he stir up a storm! Did ya ever catch his name?" >Softly you nod a yes, his words coming back to your mind before you could mouth out his name "..." >That sentence, and the way he talked about P0nyville. Biting your lower lip and going out on a hoof here "Rhapsody, I'm taking a break for a while..."   ------------------   >The train ride was merciless but at least you got some sleep on it. Not that it mattered, the seats were uncomfortable as a rock >Again the ride was a rough three hours in and after getting off, unpacking and falling asleep in comfort it was around midnight >Brain was put on mute so you didn't have to listen to him argue around with you about what you said >You kick a rock into the lake nearby P0nyville, rippling the water and disturbing the moonlight already settled on top >Should you have really left Vinyl and Manehatten that soon? >Lightly you clutch the shirt covering your heart, these mixed feelings. A touch of both sadness and happiness, maybe anxiety >The heartbeat was constant under your hand, thump thump, thump thump >"Anon." >And then the sudden voice. Fuck there goes the constant beat, hell, it probably skipped one or two at the sudden voice >You turn around to find Vinyl Scratch standing before you, saddlebag over her back. The moonlight lit up her already white coat and gave it a pure glow >That never happened in the city before >But her presence her leaves you speechless, even as your mouth opened to say something, nothing came out >Anon, you are so stupid >"What?" >She takes a few steps forward to you, standing a few feet from each other >No need to have another silence there dude, just say what comes to mind >That also include what your saying? "What are you doing here?" >The words don't seem dickish in the least, but the way you said it sure did >Maybe you should correct that statement >"What? Didn't you say we'd see each other again?" >Anon, remind me to have a talk with you about this later "Yeah I did. But I was going to go to you not the other way around." >Vinyl puffs out her cheeks and glares at you, if not for the glare you could almost d'aw at that cute face >"Who do you think you are, my prince in shining armor?" >Prince in shining armor...is that what they call them around Equestria? >Then it dawns on you "You don't have a place to stay while your here, do you?" >This makes her look down to her hoofs in embarrassment, lightly kicking a nearby rock into the lake >Anon, don't do it >Do what brain? >Invite her to your house- >If you say so >NOWAITADAMNMINUTEIDIDNTMEANITLIKETHAT- "I guess I am your prince, cuz' your staying at my place." >She raises her head up and begins to protest to your kindness >"But I don't want to-" >Before her sentence was finished you held a hand up and shook your head at the argument "No you have to. Otherwise I would feel bad leaving a friend in the rain." >You noticed it already, the moonlight that gave her an unearthly white glow had vanished meaning... >CRACK >Behind her came the boom of thunder and the bright flash of light signaled only by thunderclouds >Vinyl gave out a startled yipe at the sudden crack of thunder and spun around fast to check for the source. It was too cute you couldn't help but give a muffled chuckle >These mares were just too damn cute sometimes >"Alright, I guess I can stay with ya..." >A smile spread across her thin lips >"But only for tonight." >Your smile is warm and friendly as the two of you head back to town in a hurry to avoid getting caught in the rainstorm >On the way you give her the breifified tour of the town, just the basics and notable places to visit >Then the tour of your shack of a house, it dawned on you then that it seemed smaller compared to when you bought it. Bedroom, Bathroom, Living Room, Kitchen. Four rooms and only part of a second floor. >You took the bag of precious old world objects from where you set it after getting back home and began to put them all back in place around the living room >"I still get the bedroom then?" "Are you still the guest?" >She nodded her head with a smile. Like this was the first act of kindness she ever got >"Also..." >You stop midway to placing the headphones on the table and turn to Vinyl "Hm?" >Her glasses are off and you can see her eyes now, a soft magenta color. Through those eyes you could only make out one word. Sincere. >"Why did you run away from home?" >The question hit you a bit hard. Sure you had always wanted someone to ask it...among other questions, but out of the blue like that? >You sigh and stick the headphones around your neck as you take a seat on the couch >Contemplating where to begin >Vinyl takes a seat next to you, watching and waiting >Well, you asked for it >Yeah brain, I get it "Its hard to explain sometimes, even to myself. Sometimes I wonder to myself why I did it and come to no real answer. I hope you can find one, because I wont have one to give." >A deep breath to collect your final thoughts >"Alright, it all comes down to one word..."
