>You are Anonymous, or Anon in short. >And you shouldn't have made that bet with Pinkie Pie. >You are walking down a dirt path in the Everfree Forest while remembering about the bet. >The bet was... to see how long you can handle a cinnamon challenge. >You have no idea what you were thinking when it was towards the party horse. >She had the cinnamon in her mouth for a straight five minutes before swallowing it. >... Like, all of it in her mouth. >You? It took ten seconds before you were in a coughing fit. >At least Pinkie had some water nearby to help you out. >Pinkie wants you to stay at a haunted house, not too deep in the Everfree Forest, for one night. >You ask why and she says she wants to hear "if there are really ghosts there." >Heh, ghosts? You can never believe in the supernatural back on Earth. >Then again, this is the world of Equestria, so you don't know what to really expect from this mansion. >You keep walking on the dirt road until you find a broken sign to the side. >Wondering what it says, you walk over to it and pick it up. >... The letters are completely smeared and you can't read any of it. >You frown, set the sign back down, and continue to walk to the mansion. >You have a bad feeling about this... >... https://youtu.be/v4U5X-rR2Xk >It's getting a little dark, but you finally find the "haunted" mansion. >You come across a small, rusty gate that is unlocked. >Then, you look at the mansion that is on the other side of this gate. >It is fairly large, almost as big as Twilight's tree library. >The mansion is old and abandoned, and the boards look like they could use some maintenance. >You can see some bricks nearby that must have been used to break some of the windows at the front. >Immature ponies. >From this view... the mansion looks sinister. As if it could come alive at any minute. >Come on man, it's just one night. >You push the gates open with ease and slowly walk to the front door.   >The front yard has little to no life and surrounded by small, stone and metal fences. >The grass is dead and the flowers have lost their beautiful colors. >This stone path, that you're walking on, to the front door is a nice little touch. >Sort of. >You see small wooden steps that go up to the front door and a small mailbox next to the steps. >You examine the mailbox and find only cobwebs and a harmless spider. >After closing the mailbox, you walk up the wooden steps and go up to the front door. >You take a deep breath and exhale. "Okay, Anon... you got this. For one night." >You put your hand on the door knob and turn- >What the? >You keep turning the knob, only to realize that it's locked. >Was Pinkie lying about this place being abandoned? >Are there ponies in this mansion? Did they leave for vacation? >... Does this mean you can go back to Pinkie's and tell her that you can't go in? >You didn't want to upset her though. >You're afraid that making her upset will trigger her or something. >You look around the front to see if you can find a key to get inside. >There's a flower pot that has a dead plant next to the door and a torn mat right below you. >You pick up the mat and look for a key. >No luck. >You put the mat down and look at the flower pot. >Well, it never hurts to get dirty, right? >And this mansion does look abandoned. >You dig up some of the dirt with your right hand and look for the key. >You feel something metallic and you pull it out. >It's a gold key. "... This has to be it." >You switch the key to your other hand and try to get rid of the dirt off your right hand. >You're going to have to clean that later. >You walk up to the front door, use the key, and turn it. >... ! >You hear an unlock sound and pull the key out. >Then, you turn the knob and slowly open the door. >A small dust of wind flows out from the mansion. >... Well, here goes nothing. >You walk inside the mansion, ready to take on your night at the haunted mansion.   >It is a dark to see the mansion when you walk in. >But, your eyes slowly adjust to the darkness. >After your eyes are done adjusting, you look around. >You are in a very dirty and old foyer. >It is full of dust and there are empty cardboard boxes and furniture, like chairs and desks, laying around. >If this place is abandoned, then why did the family leave this stuff laying around here? >You can see double staircases, one on the left and one on the right that lead to the next floor. >You notice an object on top of a wooden desk next to the left staircase. >It's a lantern. >As you walk towards the lantern to pick it up, a gentle breeze rolls by behind you and the front door slowly closes. >... It was just the wind, right? >With the lantern, there are also some vials of oil that you can use to keep the fire going. >And, a matchbox with only one matchstick. "Conveninent." >You grab the lantern and pour some oil in before lighting it with the only matchstick. >The lantern shines brightly and you can see the foyer a lot better. >You can see a nearly broken door that is between the two staircases. >That has to be the basement. >And you are not going in the basement in this haunted mansion. >... Not because you're scared or anything. >Time to look for a bedroom to sleep in. >You slowly walk up the squeaky, wooden staircases until you reach to the top. >There is a hallway that goes down from the left and right. >You really wish there was a map of this house. >You look at the walls and see some wall candles that are not lit. >It'd be nice if you had more of those match sticks. >Flipping a coin in your mind, you walk down the right hallway. >There are two doors on each side of the hallway before the hallway makes a left turn to another hall. >You grab the nearest door and open- >Locked? Fuck. >You go up to another door and- >Shit. >You assume that all of these doors, even at the left hallway, are locked. >... Never hurts to sleep on the floor, right?   >Then again, you don't feel tired right now. >Maybe after you walk around this mansion? >You walk back downstairs to the foyer and look around the mansion for a while. https://youtu.be/Y7cSdL5E2ao >You turn to the left, and find yourself in the living room. >For a living room, it does not have much. >The two couches, a small and big one, are torn and has springs sticking out. >Looks uncomfortable to sleep on. >The campfire by the couches have no wood and only has cobwebs and ashes inside. >There is an antique set of dishes in a glass display at one corner of the room. >You walk up to the glass display and get a closer look. >The dishes look hoofcrafted and has a lot of colorful details. >... The family would probably freak out if you ate food from those dishes. >Seeing as there is nothing else in this room, you move on to the next room. >You open the door to the next area and look around. >It is a fairly large room and looks like it could be cleaned up if you had the right tools. >And the right time to do so. >This area must be the study room for the family. >There are dusty books, from small paperbacks to large volumes, stacked neatly on the bookshelves on the walls. >There is a window to your right that you can see the outside from. >It is night time, and the moon is slowly coming out to take the sun's place. >You can see a wooden desk that has books and torn pages. >Behind that desk is a large painting... or what was a large painting. >Even with the lantern, the picture is completely blurry. >You could only see three ponies being together. >They must have had fun being here at the Everfree Forest. >You walk out of the study room and the living room and continue your exploration of this mansion. >... Why do you feel like you're being followed? >You stop and slowly turn around to see who it is. >... There is no one behind you. >It must have been the breeze from the broken windows or something.   >You keep walking until you end up in the dining room. >There are a few cardboard boxes here and they are empty. >The dining table is large enough to have two, maybe three, families eating together. >The table is made up of plain wood and has some dust all over it. >You also see plates, along with dining utensils, on top of plate mats and in front of the chairs. >Was this family expecting a dinner with ponies or something? >You see another room connecting to the dining room and walk in. >It looks like a big kitchen. >And... something smells rancid. >There are dirty dishes stacked in the sink and look like it will collapse if you lightly push it. >Frying pans and pots are on the stove and cooking trays are inside the ovens. >Maybe this family isn't so neat and tidy. >... What the hell is that smell? >You walk around the kitchen until you stumble upon a trash container filled with rotten food. "Ew." >After knowing where the source of that horrible smell is coming from, you step away from the trash. >You notice that there is another room that you can go to. >You walk to the next room to see what it is. >Suddenly, you hear some pans clinging. >You quickly turn around to see who it is this time. >... Nothing. And, you notice a round pot is rolling on the kitchen ground. >It slowly comes to a fault and rests in place. >There is definitely someone in this mansion. >And by God, you are going to find that son of a bitch. >... When you're done looking around that is. >You go to the next room and find yourself in a patio. >The patio is small and has two chairs and a coffee table. >There is a cover hanging over the patio that can cover your head from the sun. >You also see some toys, from toy blocks to plastic vehicles, laying around on the ground. >Guess one of the ponies from that painting is a kid. >You notice double wooden doors that lead to the backyard. >After walking up to the doors, you put your hands on both doors and push them open.   >You walk out of the patio and onto the grass fields of the backyard. >The backyard is very large and is surrounded by tall hedges. >The moon is out, but not over your head. >It would be nice if there was a clock inside that house to know the time. >You see medium sized fountain that is flowing with water. >The design is not too bad. It is just two ponies, sitting back-to-back, and pouring water from their vases. >You also notice that there are a lot of gardening tools on the ground. >Rakes, shovels, hoof gloves, small spade... >Some of the tools are rusty and in bad shape. >Why did the family leave all of this stuff laying around? >You make sure you lower the lantern a little so you can watch your step. >Stepping on a rake is a terrible idea. >You keep looking around the backyard and see a small wooden shack at the far corner of the yard. >That must be the tool shack. >You walk over to the shack and put your hand on the door knob. >This better be unlocked or you are going to crush something. >You turn the knob and open the door. >Thank you. >You put your lantern in first before you walk in. >The shack has more gardening tools here, but they are not in bad condition like the tools outside. >There are some pictures and a toolbox on the table. >You set the lantern to the side and look over the pictures. >The pictures are black and white and most of them are just pictures of various plants. >None of them look that interesting to you. >You push the pictures out of the way so you can bring the toolbox closer to you. >You open it and look at its contents. >Some screwdrivers, nuts, bolts, wires... and a key? >You pick up the key and examine it. >It is a golden key and there is a small skeleton pony head engraved on it. >Spooky. >Maybe this can open the doors back at the mansion? >You put the key in your pocket, close the toolbox, grab the lantern, and leave the shack.   >As you start to walk back to the mansion, you feel something tingling on your back. >You feel like you're about to be pounced by something large and hungry. >Yeah no. You're getting back in that mansion right now. >You start to pick up your pace and look around. "... Anyone there?" >Who's going to respond to that, genius? >Suddenly, you hear ghastly laughter around you. >Well... shit. >That laugh... it sounds like a kid is having fun or something. >Great, death to the hands, or hooves in this case, to a kid. >Maybe you can reason with it? "H-Hey, I'm just here to spend one night here, alright?" >You then begin to run to the double doors while minding your step on the gardening tools on the ground. >Once you make it to the doors, you immediately grab the knobs and- >How are they locked? They were just open a while ago! >You quickly look for the key in your pockets. >After finding it, you try inserting the key in the doorlock, only to let the key fall out of your hands. >And this is why you don't like to be scared. >You start to fumble stuff up with situations like this. >You look down for the key and pick it up. >After picking it up, you- >... >Time stops around you when you see what is coming out of that door. >A pale white head comes out of the door and looks at you. >The head has two eyes that only has a black sclera and white pupils. "U-Uh..." >It smiles, takes a deep breath, and shouts. >"Boo!" >You scream and release the inner girl in your body. >If there was glass cup laying around, you could have broken it because of how loudly you scream. >You turn around and sprint back to the backyard. >Maybe you can escape this place through those hedg- >Your foot steps on a rake and the wooden handle hits your forehead. >It felt like the force of a thousand facepalms. >You try to balance yourself, but you fail and land on your back. >Right... you forgot about the tools laying around. >Maybe if you weren't so scared, you would have remembered that.   >The world slowly starts to become fuzzy as you start to lose consciousness. >You never knew how much a rake could hurt after stepping on it really hard. >... Maybe it's not so bad to sleep on the dirt ground here. >At least Luna can look over you for the last time before you're dragged in that mansion by... whatever that thing was that scared you. >You close your eyes and slowly drift off into sleep. >... Before you slip into the dream world, you hear something... >"Hey... mister? Are you ok..."   >... >Let's see... >You are Anonymous, or preferably called Anon. >You are trying to remember what happened in just one night. >Pinkie Pie wanted you to go to a haunted mansion, it's abandoned, and you got spooked. >You also remember getting whacked by a wooden rake. >At least the pain on your head is away for now. >... Pain? >Oh, you're awake. >You groan, rub your head, and slowly sit up from the bed. >Bed? >You look around and see that you were sleeping on a bed. >A dusty and old, but comfortable twin sized bed. >You look around the room to see where you are now. >You are in a bedroom, which has a closet, a desk, a window, some boxes and two bookshelves. >At the desk, you can see your lantern on over there. >Who left it there? >Speaking of leaving stuff... >You look around in your pockets to see if you can find that golden key. >You find it in your suit jacket and raise an eyebrow. >This was in your hands before you got jumped. >The closet has some formal and casual clothes for ponies. >Well, at least the family doesn't wear formal clothes all the time like you do. >The bookshelves are empty and the books must be in that cardboard box nearby. >You wonder what kind of books they are. >Through the window, you can see it is still nighttime and the moon shining down. >Damn, you thought you slept through the entire night. >... >Why are you in this room in the first place? >Weren't all of these doors locked upstairs? >"Oh!" >Shit, what was that? >You look around to see who said that. >"You're awake!" >Maybe it's a voice in your head? >No, it's definitely around the room. Somewhere. "H-Hello?" >"Hello there, mister!" "W-Who is this?" >"Oh right... you didn't see me after I got you!" >This must be the thing that made you scream like a little girl. >You can see an empty cardboard box slowly sliding over to the side of the bed. >What the hell? >It starts to quake, as if an earthquake is going on right now.   >You are unsure if that box is just the thing's doing or just a small face chopper in there. >You hope it isn't the latter. >After a few seconds of the box quaking, the box glows with a teal color, opens, and something small and white comes out. >It looks at you and smiles. >"Hi!" >You slowly wave at this... ghost pony. "Hi there..." >This ghost pony is a small filly. >She has black scleras and white pupils for her eyes. >She also has a long, messy looking mane and a small red bowtie above her right eye. >She only has spectral white ghost body, so you cannot see what color her body or hair used to be. >Her front legs are present, and her hind legs have been replaced by a ghost tail. >Well... ghosts are real in Equestria after all. >"Hopefully you're okay after what I did to you..." >Yeah, you almost- "It's fine, I forgive you." >She smiles at you. >"So! ... What's your name, stranger?" >... Should you give a name to a ghost? >What if this adorable ghost filly curses you or something? >Then again... she doesn't look too bad or harmful. "It's Anon." >"Hi, Anon!" she said, as she waves her right hoof at you, "My name is Charlotte!" "Charlotte?" >Not two names, like Twilight Sparkle or Ponka Poe? >Charlotte nods. "And... what are you?" >"Well... I'm a ghost!" >She spins around, showing her entire small ghost form to you, "But!" >But? >"I'm not just any average ghost!" said Charlotte. >Charlotte looks over at your lantern and she glows with a teal color around her. >She does magic? >You can see your lantern moving from your desk. >The lantern levitates and hovers over to you. >Once it is in reach, you slowly grab and and Charlotte smiles widely at you. >"I'm a poltergeist!" said Charlotte. >A poltergeist. >If you can recall, poltergeists are known for physical disruption, like moving objects around and making noises. >"And what are you, Anon? You're not a pony, manticore, or anything!" "I'm a human." >"Hue... man?" >You nod. >"Never heard of that before..."
