>You stroked Twilight's horn, the mare cuddling into your chest. >It was a clear night, the moon shining through the window and onto the both of you. >It should have been snowing, but the weather system moved just slightly north of Ponyville. >That was fine. >Still plenty cold enough to make the mare snuggle closer to you. >Her teeth were actually chattering from being outside, Twilight having to run out to check on some commotion. >It was just Pinkie causing problems. Again. >Another stroke to her horn caused the mare to groan, and a soft smile lit your face. >"S-stop...too fast..." The mare grunted with a small smile. "Wait for Spike to go to bed..." >Her teeth met your shoulder, gnawing on you playfully. You returned the gesture, nibbling just hard enough for her to feel it, not hard enough to leave marks. >She stopped, looking over your shoulder and out the window. >"Ooooh..." >You looked as well, and saw what she was 'oooh'-ing over. >It was snowing. >Flitter had told you that the system was being moved north, so why it was here now was beyond you. >It was an excellent surprise though. >Twilight kissed you on the cheek, before amorously nuzzling your neck. >"I'm going to make some hot cocoa, want some?" "Extra marshmallow, please!" You replied, like an excited child. >"Of course." >She went downstairs, and you opened the balcony to set chairs up. >The tree naturally kept the balcony free of snow or any other downfall, short of those heavy storms where it came down sideways. >You sat outside, listening to the silence as the snow drowned out the natural sounds of the nightlife. >Judging by how light the snow was, it wouldn't leave more than a few inches at best. >Twilight joined you a few minutes later, handing you your mug. "You had something to do with this, didn't you?" You asked, amused. >"I, uh, well...maybe?" The mare said, blushing. "I just asked that a few clouds be broken off from the main storm, Canterlot won't miss an inch or two of the stuff." >Twilight looked back out to the Ponyville streets. >"I know how much you like the snow, so I figured I'd give you a gift for being such a great boyfriend." >She gave you a nervous, wide smile, and you just laughed. "Thank you Twi, it's a great birthday gift." >You watched the mare's eyes go wide and her ears flatten. >The most obvious expression of 'Oh shit' you had ever seen. >"I...I thought it was tomorrow...?" >You laughed, then gestured to the clock. >The clock read 12:49 AM. "Twi, sweetie, it *is* tomorrow." >You watched as a wave of relief spread through the mare, even making her wings ruffle a bit. >"Oh, good...I didn't miss it." The mare replied with a sigh. "You never do." >"I've just been so busy lately, I...thought I had." >You reached over and picked the mare up, letting her settle into your lap. >You both took a sip of your hot drinks after she had settled in, relaxing with one another as the snow blanketed everything in its chilly, white embrace.
