You woke up this fine spring morning ready to head outside and be sociable with your neighbors, or maybe drop by Twilight's library and see what she was up to. You went for your “lucky” t-shirt, but upon putting it on you heard an ungodly ripping sound and felt the shirt's remains fall about your shoulders. Between sentimental value and the amount of superstitious faith you put in it, this caused you to be a tad upset. Throwing on a secondary shirt and grabbing the remains with you, you headed for the one seamstress you could trust with the job of repairing it: Rarity.           When you enter Rarity's boutique you find her reading a magazine in the corner of her workplace, which is surprisingly tidy. She magically removes the fashionable glasses she wears, looking up at you with a welcoming smile. “Good morning! Is there anything I can...,” she pauses as she sees the mess that qualifies as your favorite shirt in your hands, “Oh my, what IS that?”           You briefly explain how it's your favorite shirt, but it sorta fell apart and how you'd really like her to repair it for you. She listens intently, getting up from the cushion she was laying on and walking to you as you speak. When you're finished she uses her magic to hold the remains of the shirt up to your chest, looking at its form and how it fits on you. She slowly lowers the material, for it can hardly be called a shirt anymore, and shakes her head a little sadly. “I'm sorry darling, but I don't think even I can repair this for you.”           Your shoulders slump in resignation. That was your favorite shirt, and you thought maybe she could help. You sigh as you straighten your back once again. Well, this sucks, but you'll get over it. You're about to leave when Rarity says, “Well, I can't repair it, but I think I could make a new one for you. Would you like that, dear? Same design and colors? Or should we start over?"       >You don't think just remaking the shirt would do the old one justice, so you decide to ask Rarity for her help in making you another. Similar to the old, but with some of her style added in. >An idea strikes you as you look at the remains of your old shirt. It has a logo on the front, which is still largely intact. You could have her sew this into the new shirt or replicate the design.   What design would you like it to be, and would you care to use it? Simple ideas, no dicks, vote system.   >You tell Rarity you'd like for her to create a new shirt for you, with some of her known style added in for good measure >"A good idea, if you don't mind my saying so. That one is....dated. Now, just come over here and let me measure you," she motions towards a standing block and retrieves a cloth measure from a drawer   >Unfortunately for her, you're a little taller than her usual customers so she has to use magic to measure your upper body, asking you to read the numbers to her   >When she's finished she asks if you'd like a new pair of pants to go with your shirt, "A whole ensemble would look much more dashing than a new shirt with faded pants. And I'll need those measurements anyway, when you come back for other clothing."   Full outfit, yes/no? Any questions you want to ask her while she's measuring you, to make small talk?     Full outfit is go No logo   >Rarity takes a moment to visualize the design on a piece of paper at her work bench before coming back to you with the measure once again, "Alright, I think I've got it. Now try not to move around too much or you'll throw off my measurements." >As she's measuring you decide to break the silence with a joke, asking if she's ever made a costume for a human before. >"Why, of course not, you're the only one I know and we've hardly met before this," she pauses for a moment while measuring your thigh, "Oh, haha, it seems I missed the joke. You'll have to forgive me, sometimes I miss the obvious when I'm working."   >You ask why her shop seems so tidy, and without trying to phrase it badly, why it seems slow today. She was reading a magazine when you came in after all. >She sighs, finishing her measurements and looking at you with a hint of frustration on her face, "Well, there haven't been many events lately, meaning people don't need more suitable clothing right now. Other than that, it's the slow season for me." >She walks back to her workbench, idly flipping through clothing materials near her using her magic, "Now, when do you need this by?"   >You tell her to take her time and ask if there's anything you can do to help, to which Rarity waves a hoof at you and giving you a smile, "That's very kind of you, but I can do this. It is my passion after all." >You ask about payment, causing her to stare at the ceiling for a moment in thought. She turns around, saying, "No charge for the first one. Just make sure you come back for anything in the future, deal?" >You don't feel right just taking a free set of clothes, so tell her you insist you'll pay for it. >She gives you a look, raising an eyebrow, "And I must insist that the first outfit is a gift. It's tradition, surely you understand?"   >You tell her that you don't feel right taking one of her creations for free, as they're known to be the best clothing around. You also ask if she offers a first free time for all her customers. >"Oh, you flatterer you. But yes, the first outfit designed by myself for anyone is free. People remember such things and come back. And it feels good, to see that look in their eye when you tell them the first outfit is 'on the house,' so to speak." She missed the innuendo in your question it seems.   >You offer to take her to lunch, or help her gather gems as payment. At the very least you'll owe her a favor. >She's about to object when her stomach gives quite the growl, causing her to blush, "Well, I suppose I could go for a meal, if you're offering. It might do me some good to get out of the boutique for a bit anyway. Just let me check my hair and we can go. Where did you have in mind?"   Where are you taking the nice lady, gentlemen?   >You confess you aren't familiar with Ponyville, though you recall a restaurant Twilight mentioned once. Had a fancy waitier, H on the menus and a nice outdoor section... >"Ah, I know the place you're talking about, that would do nicely. Acceptable food, not too pricey, in the middle of town where everyone can see my sun hat...."   >You're carrying about 100 bits on your person, though you don't tell Rarity this when you ask what the prices are like. >"Well, they should be doing lunch specials about now, so I'd wager something around.....80 bits for two people if we both get entrees and a drink. Is that alright?"   >Sounds a bit pricier than you're accustomed to, but considering it means you're paying about 80 bits for a new set of fashionable clothes it's probably worth it. >Besides, won't kill you to eat someplace a little more upscale, right?   >You tell her the price is acceptable, though her outfit would certainly be worth more. >"You really must stop with these compliments, you'll make me resemble Pinkie I'll be so flattered." >And with that the two of you head out into the sunny afternoon, Rarity leading the way to the restaurant as she nods and waves to passerby who recognize her. You get a few ponies waving at you as well, though they turn and murmur to their neighbors after they think you aren't looking....   >You arrive at the restaurant and take a seat in the outdoor section, the two you sitting on piles of hay for seats >The menu arrives and you discover Rarity's estimates were a little lower than on the menu. The lunch special for two would be 120 bits, though you could order something small for yourself to allow Rarity to buy something more expensive if she desires. Or you could try to run home and grab some more cash, but that might cause a scene and you'd be abandoning Rarity for a bit.   >Though you'd like to eat a full meal, you decide leaving the lady to grab more cash would be impolite. >So you order a garden salad and stick to ice water, telling Rarity to get whatever she wants. When she gives you a look about your order, you tell her you're on a diet.   >To your surprise, she just orders a sandwich of leafy greens and carrots, more like salad on a bun than anything. >The waiter takes your menus, telling you that your food will be out shortly before wandering off to place your order with the kitchen.   >"So, Rarity, how did you get to be a seamstress?"   >"Well, when I was a filly I was....drawn to a rock field some distance away from town. Initially, I had no idea why I'd been pulled to that location. But after a wave of rainbow light, which I later found to be Rainbow Dash's first Sonic Rainboom, caused the rock to split open and reveal the gems inside, I suddenly just knew. The gems were shining, magnificent! Just absolutely captivating...," she drifts off for a moment, lost in thought, before regaining her senses and continuing, "Oh, my, sorry. But after I saw the magnificence of the gems, I had the urge to put them on things. Clothing, tapestries, just about everything really! Quite embarrassing. But after a time I began to learn how to put them on clothing in ways that made both look fantastic, and from there one thing lead to another and here I am!"   >"But what about you? What's your special talent, what do you do for fun? Is everyone so....tall where you come from?"   >"Well, I was once a king of my land, but long story short, an evil sorcerer didn't like how I was running things and banished me. I ended up here somehow."   >Rarity's mouth hangs open for a moment as she stares at you, before you laugh and assure her that you're kidding. >She takes a deep breath and regains her composure as you tell her that you're good with your hands, putting models together, tinkering with small objects, and so on. >As for the height thing, it's genetics and luck, some people are tall, others aren't.   >"Good fingers, hmm? Do you have an interest in sewing, perhaps? And I hope you don't mind me asking, but do humans have what we refer to as 'Cutie Marks?'"     >You tell her that you wouldn't mind learning sewing, if she'll teach you. >"Oh! Well, since I'm not too busy during this season, I could probably show you a thing or two, yes." >You explain that humans don't have cutie marks, only a few seem to ever find their true calling. And they certainly don't get marks that just appear to show what they're good at. People just have a sense of what they're skilled at, though they can be wrong or mislead. >"That sounds dreadful! How do people go on like that?" >You merely shrug, unable to give a real answer. >Luckily your food arrives and the two of you eat your leafy lunches. You do your best not to talk with your mouth full or eat noisily. >You finish your lunch and the waiter brings your bill, the total a meager 25 bits since both of you bought very cheap items and drank water.     >You ask if she'd like dessert, or perhaps a glass of wine? >"Both do sound wonderful, but the portions here are too large for a lady like myself to indulge in alone. And you're on a diet, so....."   >You smile, telling Rarity you can indulge yourself for her sake, and ask the waiter to bring you the wine list, taking a look at the prices.   >The high tier wine costs 40 bits a glass, the mid tier 20, while the lowest tier costs 10 bits a glass.   >You also request the dessert menu, telling Rarity you can split one with her.   >Flan: 20 bits >Ice cream: 10 bits a scoop >Cake or Pie: 15 bits a slice   >You ask what dessert Rarity would like to split, telling her the options but not the price tags. >"The cake or the flan, definitely. The pie here is....less than remarkable." >You do the mental math and decide to get the slice of cake and two glasses of mid tier wine, since abstaining after saying you'd indulge would be suspicious. >You get a slice of chocolate cake and two glasses of merlot, the two of you taking small bites from the cake and sipping your drinks. You make sure that Rarity gets most the cake however, since the meal is supposed to be your treat to her. >The cake is gone before long and the two of you sip on your wine as the waiter clears your table.   >As you finish your wine, Rarity dabs her lips with a napkin, "Well, this was very pleasant. I must get to work soon though, if you'd like to have your outfit ready by tomorrow. Was there anything else before I head back to my boutique?"   >You tell her it's the least you could do in return for her generosity, offering to walk her back to the boutique and telling her it's not polite to let a lady walk back to her residence alone. >"You are the gentleman, aren't you? I certainly wouldn't mind." >The two of you walk slowly back to the boutique, the warm sun on your back and a pleasant feeling about you. >You get to the boutique and are about to say your goodbyes when Rarity notices the door is slightly ajar, "Strange, I was certain I'd shut it all the way when we left..."   >You offer to head in and make sure everything is alright, to which Rarity waves a hoof, a small smile on her face as she shakes her head nervously. >"Now, now, who in Ponyville would do anything malicious? I probably just left the door a little open, it's not a problem."   >You insist you at least go in with her, it'd make you feel better. >"Well, if you insist," she says as she opens the door and walks in, you following close behind, "Although I doubt-" >"Surprise!" a trio of voices call out, the lights in the boutique coming on all at once as someone hits a switch >When you regain your sight you see..... >A stallion, white in color, with a dark brown mane and mustache, wearing a straw hat standing alongside a pink unicorn, her mane purple with lighter purple streaks done up in a beehive style, and a small white unicorn filly with a half purple, half pink mane all staring at you and Rarity, their smiles sort of frozen as they take a look at you   >Rarity is the first to speak, "Oh! Hello~, how nice of you to stop by," she's visibly sweating, perhaps nervous as she turns to you, "Well, it was nice of you to walk me back to the boutique but you really should be going now, I don't want to keep you from-"   >"Wow, what is it?" The small one speaks up, apparently a girl, her voice cracking as she stares up at you >"Now Rarity, don't be rude, at least introduce us to, ah, him?" The older mare says tentatively.   >Rarity sighs and hangs her head, resuming a standing posture from the one of trying to push you out the door, "This is Sweetie Belle, and the older couple are my parents."   >You introduce yourself briefly and, seeing the look Rarity has on her face as she stares between you and her family, announce that you should really get going, you don't want to intrude on a family reunion of sorts.   >As you turn to leave you feel a hoof on your shoulder, which pulls you back around. It's Rarity's father, doing his best to walk along side you with his hoof over your shoulder like you're best pals, "Hey hey, nonsense! Always a pleasure to meet a friend of Rarity's. That's what you two are, right? Friends?"   >"Daaaaaaad!" Rarity practically screams, her voice a higher pitch than you could imagine as her cheeks flush red. >"Ahaha! Don't mind her, I'm just ribbin' ya. Say hello to the misses!" >You say hello to Rarity's mother, who grabs you in a big hug, "Oh my, you're so tall! I always knew Rarity would go for a big one, but I had no idea!" >"Mother! Not you too!" Rarity is beside herself with embarrassment, frantically prancing in place as she pleads for her parents to stop. >Rarity's mom has you bend over so she can ruffle your hair before giggling and sending you on your way to meet Sweetie Belle.   >You have to crouch so Sweetie can hug you, finally letting go and bouncing around you in circles. >"My name is Sweetie Belle! I'm Rarity's little sister, if she didn't tell you. Are you a friend of hers?"   >You chuckle and look to Rarity, smiling at her as she remains flustered, "Well, Rarity is making me a new outfit, so I took her out to lunch." >Rarity begins to recover, taking deep breaths and ceasing her prancing, "Y-yes, it was very pleasant and-" >"Sounds like somethin' a friend would do for ya. Or a suitor," her father remarks, the smile on his face partially hidden by his mustache as he gives you a wink. >"Dad, what's a suitor?" Sweetie Belle asks innocently while trying to climb your back since you're still crouching. >"Sweetie get off of him right this instant!" Rarity cries, moving towards you to remove Sweetie Belle from your back. >"Uh oh, sounds like someone's jealous," Rarity's mother says, looking straight at you and giving you a wink, just like her husband, who now laughs raucously as Rarity freezes in place, her whole face becoming red. >Sweetie has moved up to the top of your back, her front hooves on your head as she proclaims, "Queen of the mountain!" before scrunching her face and whispering, "N-not that you're a mountain, I mean."   >Rarity finally snaps, using her magic to toss Sweetie off your head and lift you off the ground and running outside with you, slamming the door shut behind her. >You can hear a muffled, "Maybe we joke a bit too much, eh wife?"   >Once you're out of earshot of the boutique Rarity slows down and lowers you to the ground with a small thud as she begins to pace back and forth. >"I'm sorry for my rash actions, but I just...they," she inhales deeply before nearly shouting, "HOW EMBARRASSING! The way Sweetie climbed all over you, and my parents! Such behavior!"   >You can't help but laugh, a deep bellied laugh that leaves Rarity speechless, if only for a moment. >"Are, are you laughing at me? Why, the nerve!" >You put a hand out and between laughs assure her you're laughing because they seem like a very interesting family to live with. >"Interesting? Please! My parents live to embarrass me in front of everyone, and Sweetie is just...annoying!" >You finally calm down from your laughter and stand, patting your legs and rear off before looking Rarity in the eye and telling her they remind you of your parents. >Rarity stops talking and pacing immediately, looking at you intently before her features relax and she wanders over to you.   >You tell Rarity that Sweetie Belle was pretty cute, and that she's welcome to pretend you're a mountain any time. You say to let her parents know you thought they were fun to be around. >"I..I'm sorry, I didn't-" >You interrupt and tell her not to worry about it, that she should go back to her boutique and spend some time with her family. >Rarity takes another deep breath before looking up at you, "You're right, of course. They're the only family I have and...I should be proud of that." >She puts a hoof around your middle and gives you a quick squeeze, murmuring "Thank you," before withdrawing with her cheeks a little red again. >"Well, thank you for handling it so well. Had you played along with their little game, I think I might have died on the spot," she smiles, "But I did have a nice afternoon. I'd...like to do something like that again some time. How about after I finish your outfit? We can celebrate your good looks when it's finished." >A moment passes before she realizes what she just said, her face burning red as she stammers, "I-I mean, that's, well, I meant....I think I'll go visit with my family now, I'll see you tomorrow afternoon!" >You just laugh and wave at her as she runs back to her boutique.
