RUINS HUNT:   A stallion makes his way to the stand thing, a warhammer slung across his back and a dagger at his side. "I don't even know if it's hunting season right now, but that's never stopped me before!”   As Ruin made his way to the northern tennants, He spotted a actually very nicely built and put together stand right before the wall of the tent fields, Two smiling, happy Griffons helping ponies and griffons fill out paper work, a large, fancy sign reading “HUNTING TOURNEY SIGNUPS HERE!” above their heads.   Ruin trots to the stand "Still spots left?" , he asks one of the griffons.   One of the griffons turns to him, a wide smile on his face. “PLENTY! Just fill out this form real quick, and we'll give you a free spear and two javlins to get started!” he says, handing one of the clipboards to Ruin.   On it was typical information. Name, address, age, race, coloring, if your in a team and with who, please sign here to aknowledge the Hunting Guild isnt responsible for any injuries, maiming, or death....   Ruin grabs a quill, and fills out the form after glancing over the legalese (Ruin, 69 Valor Square, 24, Hornpone, I prefer painting, solo, signature)   "I'll pass on the spear and javelins though, gotta travel light."   "So, any other rules I gotta be aware of?"   “Ah, well thats up to you!” The griffon say,s taking the paper and stamping it. “Only three to remember. First, you cannot interrupt another hunters Hunt. Second, only one Game may be turned in per team. Third, have fun and be careful!”   "Sounds good!" with the registration out of the way, Ruin tighens his saddlebags of beginner shit to his back and heads for the gate!   Ruin recalls seeing a map of the region on his previous clearing expeditions, and begins to head to the mountains to the west somewhere.   The jungle is thick and expansive, with many a magnificent and dangerous creature to be found. Even to an experienced hunter, location and knowing what your after can be the difference between a good or bad hunt, though simply looking around is never a bad idea either.   It would take a good few hours to reach the mountains, leaving Ruin with some good time to think about his plan.   [Roll for Perception, D20]   Ruin,10   As Ruin was walking along his chosen path he, just barely, spots some quite large cat like tracks going along with him in the bushes, heading off to his left.   Ruin decides to follow the tracks, purely out of curiosity. If he's out here, may as well appreciate nature.   As Ruin follows the tracks into the deep undergrowth, he is lead deeper and deeper into a thicker part of it.   [D20 for perception]   Ruin, 7   Ruin sees.....trees, and even almost loses track of tracks themselves! As he pushes past the next bush, he gasps, nearly walking right off a small cliff and down a good 5 feet into some thorny bushes!   However off on the other side of the large patch of thorny bushes he sees obvious movement, though he cant tell what it is.   Ruin squint really hard, try and see what is moving.   [roll for perception, d20-3 due to heavy trees and distance]   Ruin, -1   as Ruin tries to focus on what is ahead, his vision goes blurry and his foot slips, with a yelp he tumbles down into the thorns below! While harmless, they sure do hurt a lot.   grumpy poner noises and rustling branches   give up on trying to see a kitty, keep going west.   After digging out of the thornbushes, Ruin heads west, though eventually realizes she doesn't EXACTLY know where he is anymore. Never the less, she quickly realizes she is slowly starting to climb upward,s so it probably doesn't matter.   That is, til he hears two animals fighting ahead!   "Gotta see this" he whispers to himself head toward the sounds of aggression   As he approaches the sounds, he comes to a small clearing, and meets quite the sight!   Two animals are fighting, one is some sorta furry topped, crystalline centipede about as big as a pony ans as long as three! The second creature, the one seemingly losing from the looks of things, appears to be an over sized goat, but with two heads and slightly stoney looking skin, though from the gashes on it it is not standing up to the centipedes pincers at all.   The goat is backed up against a fallen tree, its heads aimed down, large curved horns from both heads aimed at the centipede, who swerves and circles the goat.   Ruin jumps into the fray like an idiot and swings his mighty hammer at the bugly fug!   [roll d20, +2 for surprise attack! 8+ pass, 12+ success, 1- Crit Fail]   Ruin, 19, success   With a nice, amazing swing, Ruin slams the side of the bug valiantly, getting a surprised “baaaa” from one of the goat heads as the bugs armor cracks and splinters, the thing itself going a good few feet away, rolling into a tree!   Quickly though, the thing gets back on its feet, and it looks pissed as all hell as it charges you!   "Have at you, abomination!"   His words having no effect on the centipede, it simply continues charging him, that is until it twitches sideways, its face getting slammed into by the goat, its Pincers locking around the tow heads horns, putting them in a stalemate as the goat struggles to hold it up a bit, “baaa”ing loudly.   "You go Twogoat!" hammaslamma on the bug's back!   [D20, +1 for goat help! 7+ pass, 13+ success, 2- Crit fail]   Ruin, 5, fail.   As Ruin swings his hammer though, the Centipede gets free, quickly ducking under the hammer and slipping to a more defensible position. Clacking its Pincers together, it stares from the angry goat to Ruin, clearly unsure of which to go for.   And then it lurches its back up, and you notices the fur on its back....moving. Also the goat suddenly goes wide eyed, and jumps to the side.   Ruin tries to jumps the opposite way of Twogoat.   [d12, 6+ success, 1- crit fail]   Ruin, 2- fail   As Ruin jumps sideways, the Centipede turns, and a shower of tiny needle hairs fire out like a shogun blast.   Ruin feels pain shoot through him as a good few sink into his back legs, and when he lands the pain causes him to rolls a bit across the ground. Looking up, he sees the centipede is a smart fella, going after the goat as to not leave its flank open to the standing opponent.   You watch as it tosses the poor two headed creature into a tree, hard enough to see splinters come off!   "REEÈEEEEEEE!" SWING FOR THE HEAD, USING THE SPIKE END OF THE WARHAMMER! NO ONE TREATS GOAT LIKE A RAGDOLL!   [d20-1 for recovering legs, 8+ pass, 13+ success, 2-crit fail] [oh, fuck, forgot to mention, you have 3 re-roll tokens, may bad]   Ruin, re-roll- 9, pass 1/3   With much gusto, Ruin swings his hammer, however the centipede is quick, though not quick enough, as ruin still gets a good hit into his sorta chest, making the things swirm backwards at the deep grazing wound.   The double goat quickly jumps forward, knocking the centipede a good ten feet back with a loud crash as it hits the ground.   One of the heads looks at you, giving a kind, determined 'Baaa' as it takes a step next to you, lowering its heads back at the centipede, which has already gotten back on its feet!   The centipede seems hesitant, unsure of what to do now.   "No sweat, bud." turns to bug "If you got a brain you'll fuck off!"   Instead, it arches its back again!   [d12 to dodge, 6+ success, 1- crit fail, special if fail]   Ruin, 5, fail   However right before it fires, the goat slams into Ruin, knocking him to the side. Ruin can only watch as his two headed goat friend is coted in the needles, the force of so many actually knocking him backwards a bit as he collapses on the ground with a 'baa!', though still clearly alive as he twitches in pain.   And worse, the centipede lunges for you!   Ruin attempts to telekinetically slam the fang dagger into the gaping wound left by the hammer in a last ditch effort of pure fury!   "FUUUUUUUUCK YOOOOOOOOOU!"   [d12, +1 for weak spot! 5+ pass, 8+ success, 2- Crit fail] Ruin, 5, pass failed re-roll, goes with first. 2/3   The dagger doesn't quite hit its mark, but does injure and throw the creature off target, the thing disappearing into the bushes.   However, after a long moment of hesitation, Ruin sees it scampering off into the forest! It got scared off!   His attention however is drawn next to him, as the goat 'baaa's loudly as it rolls onto its stomach, trying, unsuccessfully, to lick and pull out the needles, which are pretty deep into him.   Ruin gets the bandages from his starter kit "You're going to get through this, guys." start plucking needles and bandaging the really bad wounds   At first the goats nips a bit, not understanding what Ruin was trying to do, but after it became clear the let him work, one even nuzzling his neck a bit, though the horns kinda made that uncomfortable. It takes a good chunk of time to finish plucking the things out, but after that the goat 'baa's happily, giving Ruin a lick as it stands up before he can finish bandaging it, hopping around happily before stopping infront of him again, one head licking him and another nuzzling him again, before they step back and 'baa' at him with a determined look, before running off in one direction.     "HEY, WAIT! DO YOU KNOW WHERE THE MOUNTAINS ARE?" Ruin shouts as he follows Twogoat .   While he cant be sure if it understands him, the twogoat stops, 'baa'ing at him over its shoulders and motioning with its head, the universal sign for 'follow me'.   As Ruin follows int into the thick of the bushes though, not too far off they come to a stop. At first confused, Ruin watches as it dunks its head below the bushes and under growth and.....comes up with both its mouths full of hanging purple carrots.   Gleefully, its trots up to you, and plops a few down infront of you, giving you an adorable little goat baa as its eyes glimmer.   Pat goat head, and share while we snack!   After you finish your snacks, the Goat baas again, and after giving you another nuzzle, starts hopping off again.   As you follow the goat, the foliage slowly becomes more bare, until it breaks way into a vast grassland, the mountains your searching for appearing large and encumbering infront of you, as the goats happily go and graze on the tall grass.   "Thanks bud, I'll have to hit you up sometime and go mountain climbing!" Speaking of, Ruin decides getting to higher ground is the next step of the hunt.   The grasslands around him are quite hilly, so its not too hard, however the tall grass and winding hills does make it hard to spot much.   [d20 for perception] Ruin, 15   You spot a nice, mostly straight forwards path straight towards the mountains nearby, aswell as a herd of large buffalo grazing somewhat nearby and....oh? You see a few patches of grass moving around the herd, slowly getting closer to one of the younger buffalos.   "Look out!" Ruin yells a warning at the tribe, rushing to save the ...calf? That's the word for a buffalo baby right?   The buffalo look up, confused, that is until....odd, striped dog-tiger things with really long and toothy snouts jump out of the grass at the Teenage looking Bison.   While hes reacts too slowly, getting grabbed, his herd-mates are quick to his rescue, tossing off the beasts and driving them away as you near.   As you near, the largest one approaches, standing over you like a mountain of fur and muscle.   And then he smiles “Thanks for tha warning little one. Best be careful yourself, these lands hold many a predator.” he says with a nod, before turning and walking off back towards his group.   "I'm looking for a predator, actually." I say, following Big Guy, "Something big."   “Now why would ya wanna do that?” He asks, not caring to look at Ruin really as he goes back to watching over his grazing herd from the tallest point of the hill.   "It is considered a rite of passage among my people to face our fears and overcome the challenge of a fight with the things that would do us harm." I state, "We gain status among our people if it's bigger."   "So uh, if you have anything nearby that REALLY troubles you and your people, hit me up."   The Buffalo laughs, shaking his head. “Well, who am I do stop tradition?” He points with a hoof towards a mountain to the north. “Been a Wyvern causing trouble somewhere up in there, which is odd, usually they come in small packs, but this one seems to be a lone wolf.” He then points at another mountain towards the south. “Rumors say a Chimera couple is living on that one, but im not sure about that one myself.”   He smiles waving a hoof out to the southern planes. “And while im not sure if its still around, there was something big carving a path through the lower grasslands, not even the Striped hounds would hunt there for awhile.”   Ruin pulls out a copper bit, and flips it (1=wyvern, 2-unknown horror)   >2   "I love a good mystery, which way to the big path in the lower grasslands?"   The massive Buffalo nods, pointing down a winding path clear through the lower hills. “Go straight down that if your looking for speed, but be careful, theres still some Striped hounds that are starting to venture back into that area, though mostly starved lone wolves.”   "Will do! Thanks!" Ruin waves as he heads down the path, nearly tripping as he does so "Our town is on the other side of the jungle, near the shore! If you ever want to sleep behind some safe walls, stop by sometime!"   The Buffalo doesn't answer, simply going back to watching over his herd, as he leaves your sight as you go down the hill.   As you go along the winding path, you can help but notice how late it has gotten, the sun clearly starting its decent.   "Can't stop here, this is hound country!" continues down the path, I ain't afraid of the dark   pounds out a beat on the ground with his hammer as he treks onward!   As you wind down the path though, the light starts to dim, but not before you come to a lower area, and see an amazing sight before you in the dying light.   There is a massive swath of grass simply stomped flatly into the ground before you, leading off over a large hill an into the distance, from what you can tell originating from the mountains. The creature must be huge, bigger then a single story house back on earth, and getting up close to a two story from how it seemed to drag such a perfect path along the ground.   "Woah." Ruin is speechless, this is some shadow of the colossus shit. The stuff of legends. Tremendous. Hyyyuge! somebody gots to deal with it, before it becomes a problem. Ruin volunteers as tribute with a bold step into the path of destruction.   As you step onto the things path of destruction, you notice the ground is slightly odd, with further inspection showing there is a slight layer of something dried out over the area the thing stomped over, as if it had left behind some sorta residue before.   [roll for perception, d20, 7+ pass, 11+ success]   Ruin, 3-fail   "Follow the big gash, how hard can it be?"   Run suddenly hears a lot of rustling behind him, and before he can fully turn, gets knocked to the ground!   As he looks up, he see a very hungry looking Striped Dog thing from before looking at him, licking its lips!   "You know, I taste like doodoo and burn when you poop me out, really not worth it!" I say as I try to levitate my hammer up to smash its head.   [Roll d12, 5+ pass, 8+ success]   ruin, 3, fail   Missing the thing as it leaped forward, Ruin yelped as he could only roll, a pang of pain going up his spine as he felt its claws graze him.   "BITCH, DOWN!" I yell as I let out a telekinetic downward slam with my hammer.   [roll a d12, 5+ pass, 7+ success, 1-crit fail] ruin,11-success 2/3   this time, with adrenalin pumping, Ruins magic hits the mark! With a hard CRUNCH, the hammer and tiger-dogs head hit the ground hard, and Ruin realizes he probably is gonna need a bath once he gets back...   "AHAHAHA HOLY SHIT THAT WAS BRUTAL!" I cackle as I wipe some viscera off my face. I keep following the path, I got a mission!   As you continue on, night settles in, and as you continue on your path. Your not sure how far you travel, but it seems to be quite a long ways, but finally, after you get on top a large hill, you finally see it!   At first, you almost think its an oddly shaped hill, until you notice it slowly lumbering on, as iff it was sliding along the ground.   Its like...some sorta giant, shaggy...thing, almost like a huge hairy hump backed slug, the slime its leaving behind actually sending up steam as it meets the cooling night air! You cant see the front of it, as its moving directly away from you.   I attempt to sneak through the woods alongside it, to get a better look at the front "Ugh, shoulda went with the wyvern." I whisper.   As you slipped along next to it, you hardly have any problems reaching its front, to which you see has a large, bearded looking head about a third the size of its body, with no visible eyes, though you can see the hair where they should be is shorter.   What really gets you is the four MASSIVE tusks it has, probably weighing more then its head all put together. It simply continues on its path, either not knowing your there or not caring, slugging along slowly forward, though it does shake itself a bit once, like a dog.   [roll d20 for perception]   ruin, 3   You really think you have seen literally everything you need to know about this beast, nope, no way you missed any detail at all that might be important or help you, for sure.   I attempted to teleport onto it's back!   [roll d12, +1 for spunk and recent knowledge! 6+ success, 1- crit fail] Ruin,8-success   With a light of your horn and a few funny, strained faces, you pop out of existence and reappear on its back!   The creature doesn't seem to notice, but you certainly notice the awful smell and...wait....somethings moving under the hair over there....   ready the dagger, investigate movement .   As you approach, you see something pop out of the fur! As it scurries away to someplace else, you swear it looked like an oversized tick...   Looking around you notice a few more areas moving and more darting around. Huh....you seem oddly active....and....are they all slowly getting closer?   I use telekinesis, swinging the dagger in circles to give the mammoth slug an impromptu haircut!   Its an easy enough feat, but suddenly the mammoth slug reacts, shaking violently! Worse, you look over, and to your horror as you try to stay on your feet, something akin to a giant ear is suddenly folding up to swat at you!   Roll outta the way!   [roll d20 to roll, 6+ pass, 10+ success, 2- crit fail] Ruin,8-pass   While you dodge the ear thing, the wind knocks you on your ass, and as you get up three Ticks have leaped at you from the side!   I do a sideways semicircle swing of my warhammer at the three ticks, trying to hit em all in one arc!   [d20, 6+ pass, 8+ success, 1- Crit fail] Ruin,11-success   With a swift hammer swing, the three Ticks get turned into mush, though whatever gunk they're sucking out of this creature smells worse then its outsides, and feels....disturbingly warm.   You hear more sound, and turning around, see a bunch of ticks on the spot you cleared out....before the ear comes down and squishes a good number that couldn't get out of the way. Guess that hair served an actual purpose afterall.   Hears skittering, you look around, seeing about five more shapes headed your way, two from the left, one from the right, and two from the front.   I fall back to the clearing, trying to hit the rightmost tick on my way by. "Someone get this guy a flea collar!"   You hit it with ease the tick going flying like a baseball, but as you step onto the hairless area again, you see a familiar shadow from the side! The ear! Guess this guy has really sensitive skin!   keep sprinting across the clearing while holding my dagger with telekinesis above the sensitive skin, point facing down.   As you cut into its goopey flesh, the thing starts to shake violently, another ear appearing from the other direction, both moving really fast!   [roll d20 to evade! -2 for violent shaking! 7+ pass, 14+ success, 2- critfail]   Ruin,10-pass   You roll, both the ears and ticks following, but manage to avoid both as they slam down, however the combined gusts send you rolling long its head, and you find yourself having nearly rolled off the front of it!   The things is shaking like mad now, rocking back and forth as you cling to its hair, clearly in pain.   climb back on top, and keep up the daggersprint! It hates that!   [roll d20 for climbing and keeping balance! -2 for even worse shaking! 8+ pass, 14+ success] Ruin,15-success   Like a badass monkey, Ruin climbs the hair back on top and keeps his feet to the beat of the angry beast, cutting a deep and nasty gash along the things top, even managing to be fast enough to avid the ears.   He looks back, noticing the ears had been hitting so hard they were actually opening up the wounds worse, and even see some green, horrible goop that was the things insides leaking out and down its side a bit, the stuff steaming against the night air.   The creature is slowing down, but still not out for the count!   I keep slitting it up like an emo kid who's mom won't buy him the latest iphone.   [roll another d20! -2, as the steaming goop makes it hard to see, but its starting to shake less so it even out! 7+ pass, 13+ success! 1- crit fail] Ruin, 16-success   Expertly dodging the ears, and the ticks all having scurryed away long ago, you zip around like a macabre ice skater, cutting deep paths in the things back, its ears splitting its skin open, lettign out more goop.   Finally, it slows to a stop, its ears trying to lift but unable to, until, finally, it lurches forward, and as you simply roll off its front, a massive amount of dust and steam getting sent up....you look back at it.   It lays sprawled along the ground, and for the first time, past its Tusks, three of which shattered and are stuck upwards like pillars from the ground, you see its eyes, small little things, showing from beyond its fur.   Full of pain, fear, and confusion, the creature lets out a loud, painful whine, unable to move and simply bleeding to death now as it shakes.   I take my dagger and push it as far into the poor thing's eye as I can. I hold back a tear, never expected a bug to make a pitiful noise like that "You put up a good fight, but now it's time to sleep, guy."   The thing doesn't struggle, and with one last whimper, goes silent, simply leaning over and dying.   The night goes silent, save for the sound of steam.   Ruin stands in silence, the gravity of what he's done really hitting him. He just took a life. A peaceful, mostly harmless life. And for what? A trophy? Some money? That huge, gorgeous tusk? "Yep. Now to figure out how to drag this thing home."
