>Everything around you is blanketed by darkness. >You feel yourself lying on something soft. >Like… >a bed. >Reaching around with your hands, you feel the soft sheet beneath your fingers. >Suddenly, everything is illuminated. >You shield your eyes with a hand as they adjust to the new brightness. >”Ah, you’re awake.” >A strangely distorted but familiar voice. >Then you look around. >You recognize the room. >Chrysalis’ room. >You’re in her bed, lying on its blood-red sheets. >There’s a black figure right next to you, looking at you with large predatory eyes. >Her. >It’s all coming back to you now. >The light is coming from the tip of her horn. >A common illuminating spell. >She turns her horn away from you, fires a ray, and suddenly her fireplace lights up with flames and becomes a new source of light for the room. >It makes for a much warmer, more comforting light than her green magical one. >But the sole light-source also casts long, ominous shadows across the room from every little object that gets in its way. >Chrysalis then giggles at you. >”You surprised me.” >She stands up and jumps out of the bed while you remain in it, then paces around on her ornate carpet with a big smile on her face. >”There I was, beaten and powerless while the dreadful princesses were taking down my poor soldiers…” >She looks at nothing in particular while telling her very recent tale. >”… and then you came to my aid!” >She stops and looks at you. >Her smile almost literally reaches from ear to ear. >But it’s not a kind one. >Just one of amusement. >”Can you imagine my surprise when the one I hunted, the one who is a dear friend of my worst enemies…” >You want to bury your face in your hands. >”… came to help me?” >She tilts her head and looks inquisitively at you, her big eyes practically glittering with glee. >Or she would seem inquisitive if the smile didn’t make her look like she’s about to burst into laughter at any moment. >You sit up. >And groan while doing so. >Oh god, why did you do that? >Chrysalis giggles again at your sound. >”Isn’t this what you wanted? You came to save me! And here we are, safe and sound in my domain.” >Fuck. >You feel like an idiot. >A huge fucking moron. >You do what you wanted to do earlier and bury your face in your hands. >”What’s the matter?” >The question is quickly followed by a chuckle. >For some inexplicable, stupid reason you just wanted to… >help her. >And now you’re back where you started. >Stuck in her grasp. >At her mercy. >And there’s no way in hell she’ll let you go. >”Don’t be so glum.” >You part a couple of fingers and look at her with one eye. >She looks at giddy as ever. >”You really helped me. I already had Twilight but I didn’t want to just trade her for you.” >You just look at her in silence through your fingers. >She’s unperturbed by your lack of expression. >”And then you came to me. Willingly.” >She chuckles happily. >You finally remove your hands from your face and let them fall into your lap. >And sigh. >You don’t look at anything in particular, just keep your head lowered and your eyes on your fallen hands. >You feel so utterly fucked. >Chrysalis watches you and giggles. >Her boundless joy makes you deeply worried. >It makes you remember her sadistic side. >You look at her. >She’s smiling, practically beaming, back at you. >Her green eyelids come down as she gives you… >bedroom eyes. >”I had no idea you were so fond of me.” >You narrow your eyes in response. >It only makes her giggle. >”Don’t be upset, my dear loyal ape.” >She suddenly pauses and her expression becomes more serious. >She looks downwards and thinks for a moment. >”… or what was it you’re actually called?” >It takes you by surprise. ”Human.” >” ‘Human’?” “Well, I said primate. But more specifically, I’m human.” >You’re a little baffled that she remembers. >”Well, my dear loyal human, I’m afraid I have some pressing matters to see to.” >The smile she then gives you is deeply sinister. >”… regarding a certain unicorn.” >Oh shit. >Twilight. “Wait…” >She bursts into laughter. >”Oh, don’t worry! I told the princesses I’d let her live. And I’m a mare of my word.” >You’re tempted to question that. >She seems to read your expression and snorts. >”I CAN be.” >You almost smile at her sudden annoyance. ”Sure.” >Her predatory eyes narrow. >”Have I ever broken any promise to you?” ”You’ve tricked me.” >She rolls her eyes. >”That’s different.” >You don’t bother saying anything else. >As a changeling, it’s in her nature to be a deceiver, right? >… although you do remember that she can be nice to you. >For an evil monarch. >Chrysalis is regarding you with less merriment than before. >Her green eyes scan you as you sit quietly on her bed. >”… I suppose it’s not unfair to question a promise I make to my enemies.” >You look at her. >”Would it make you feel better if I made the promise to you instead?” >You blink and don’t immediately respond. >Feeling a little confused. “Would it be different?” >She smiles. >Wickedly. >”We’re not enemies, are we?” >You hesitate to answer. >”And, of course …” >She pauses and looks away, seeming contemplative. >Then her eyes settle back on you with a teasing look. >”… I like you much better than those ponies.” >Okay…? ”That’s good to know.” >You wonder if she’s trying to mess with you. >But then again… >”Oh yes. You’ve been quite good to me, haven’t you?” >Very slowly, she steps towards the bed. >Towards you. >”You even kept my secret in Canterlot.” >… >You did do that, yeah. >Still feel a little weird about it. >”And now you’ve helped me against those princesses.” >You feel more bad than weird about that, though. >She’s standing right in front of you, and the bed, now. >Smiling rather suggestively. >Her sharp fangs are showing as she looks at you. >”Which reminds me, I did mention kissing you…” >You stare at her. >Oh god, is she about to do something fucked up? >Before you can speak or react, her head darts forward towards yours. >You pull back on reflex, but immediately feel her magic trap your head and keep it in place. >Her soft lips press against yours. >The kiss is simple, only pushing her lips against yours, and it only lasts a moment or two. >Then you’re released and she pulls back. >You almost fall back on the bed when you’re finally free to move as you want. >Your heart is hammering as you look at her, feeling intense confusion and shock. >She chuckles at your reaction. >”Don’t be so surprised. It’s your due reward.” >She smiles cheerfully as she turns around and starts walking towards the door. >”Now, you’ve been keeping me here long enough.” >There’s an unusual swaying motion to the way she walks as she approaches the door. >Particularly in her rear end. >With her green magic, she makes said door swing open. >”Don’t be sad. I’m sure we’ll have a wonderful time now that we’re back together.” >She looks back at you and grins. >Those fangs of hers make it look devilish. >Then she steps through the door and it slams shut. >You’re left feeling a mixture of emotions. >Seriously worried about what the future now holds for you. >… and a little aroused.   >Getting some time alone allows you to think, which eventually helps you calm down. >You’re not necessarily completely fucked. >You’re pretty sure she won’t abuse you to death. >Intentionally, anyway. >You’re more worried about Twilight. >It seems unlikely to you that Chrysalis would go ahead and kill her. >She did promise you. Or tried to. >Interesting. >But you wouldn’t be surprised if she has something else in store for her. >You look at the door. >Could it be open? Unlocked? >… Would it be too soon to try to get to the dungeon and help Twilight? >Anxiety begins to take hold of you again and you can’t resist fidgeting with your fingers. >What to do… >Fuck it. >You get up and walk over to the door. >Grabbing the cold metallic handle, you twist it. >The door opens with a click. >Keeping your hand on the doorknob, you hold the door slightly ajar. >You hesitate. >Still feeling deeply uneasy about everything. >But then a large blue eyes peeks at you through the opening. >A changeling. >You almost freeze. >But then remember how it worked last time. >A guide. >Seeing how you’re basically busted, you open the door fully and see two changelings waiting on the other side. >They stand still and just look at you. >Two stallions, you then notice. >You stand there and look at them for a moment, thinking about what to say. >”Where do you want to go?” >Oh boy, you need to say something now. ”Uh…” >Well, you DO know where you want to go. >You’re worried it’ll be suspicious, though. >Or just not allowed. >But it DID work the last time… >The changeling who asked tilts his head. >For a black insect-horse with fangs he looks surprisingly non-threatening. ”… The dungeon?” >There. You said it. >Now you just hope- >The changelings exchange looks. >The non-speaker’s wings begin to buzz and he takes off, disappearing down the corridor to the right. >Uh oh. >The remaining one looks at you again. >”You can’t.” “Oh.” >You look down the corridor he other one disappeared into before looking back at the changeling in front of you. >He makes no comment, just looks back at you. >It seems you’re supposed to stay. >You turn around and walk back inside the room, closing the door behind you. >Standing on the ornate carpet, watching the long shadows cast by the fireplace reach towards the opposing wall. >Not knowing what to do, you walk over to Chrysalis’ bed and sit down on it. >And feel broody. >It doesn’t take long, though, before something happens. >With a bright flash, Chrysalis pops into existence in the middle of the room. >She immediately looks at you and scowls. >”You want to go free Twilight, don’t you?” >You blink. >Ooooh. >So that’s where that changeling went. ”Well…” >”Well?” ”Maybe.” >You weren’t actually completely sure what you would’ve done. >Her scowl grows more… scowling. >Her brows furrow deeply above her animalistic eyes as she looks at you with intense displeasure. >Half her face is cast in shadow thanks to the lit fireplace. >The sight makes you feel more than a little uncomfortable. >”You’ve just returned to me and you want to betray me already?” >Her tone is deadly serious. >You hesitate with answering. >”I haven’t forgotten what you did last time you “visited” my dungeon.” >Not sure what to say to that. >You twiddle your fingers anxiously. >Her impending wrath makes you very, very nervous. ”… I’m still worried.” >You see her scowl turn into something more related to confusion. >She then rolls her eyes and groans loudly before planting her face in a forehoof. >”But I promised you I wouldn’t kill her!” ”Yeah, but…“ >Not sure what to say exactly, you pause. >Chrysalis looks at you with a mix of confusion and frustration. >”But what?” >You hope you don’t insult her. >Although you probably will. “… you’re not the nicest thing around.” >Her eyes narrow dangerously. >Oh dear… >Then she suddenly looks to the side as if thinking. >”… Very well.” >She looks at you again with a calm expression. >”Then I will let you go see Twilight.” ”What?” >Wait, really? >”Yes. On one condition.” >Her calm expression grows a wolfish smile. >Your sense of hopeful surprise dims. >”Don’t worry, it’s a simple thing. I just want you to make a promise.” “A promise?” >”Yes. It’s fair, isn’t it? I made one to you, now you make one to me.” >You wonder what she has in mind. >And worry about it a little. ”So…?” >”I want you to promise me you’ll never try to save Twilight Sparkle.” >Oh. >Well, that makes sense for her. >She’s smiling at you as if pleased. >But you hesitate with answering. >You could always just break the promise if the opportunity arrives, but you’re not happy with the idea of giving your word and having made a verbal agreement with Chrysalis. >Chrysalis’ smile shrinks. >Her eyes go from gleaming happily to sending you a hard glare. >”Promise me.” >Oh shit, she’s noticing. ”Well, how about-“ >”Promise me!” >Her voice gets louder. >Her tone is angry. ”But she’s my frien-“ >”PROMISE ME!” >She roars. >Her deadly teeth are exposed in her open, shouting maw. >You freeze at the noise and view. >Shock and fear practically paralyzes you. >The burst of sound leaves the room eerily quiet while she regards you afterwards. ”… okay. Okay, Jesus Christ, okay!” >She looks at you for another moment with suspicious green eyes. >Then she goes back to smiling. >”Good. With that settled, I’ll take you to Twilight later.” “When?” >You feel yourself calm down at that. >She snickers. >”Be patient. I still have duties to attend to. I’ll come fetch you when there’s time.” >She then turns around and walks to the door, her green magic opening it for her, and closing it slowly behind her.
