Must be their club, not allowed to focus on an issue because it "isnt the core issue, my moral concern is". Ultimately it's uncooperative and dogmatic behavior, which even other believers dislike being pressed on them. Makes you untrustworthy. And nobody wants you as a gatekeeper
 
Well you can say any decline is rooted in a moral failing. Doesnt matter if we're talking about attacking a direct issue or result
 
Modern Morality is based on the sin of racism as the original template for bigotry and tolerance. We tear down the past for racism above all others. Over sexism, transphobia, or homophobia. Racism is why statues go away
 
You can be as arbitrarily esoteric as you like, placing any date as the start kf the real decline to be special, as will everyone else. But it is arbitrary storytelling. There is always a maverick intellectual tradition, what matters is when and why they stick. You can say the abolitionnf hierarchy started with dissing monarchy, but monarchies are often worse off
 
Immigration and demographics decide all the other issues. All the moral and political ones. They matter more
