-Aether describes the appearance of the Tetran night sky with its gas giant and two moons, as well as her surroundings on Kachina Island [jungle with a large mountain nearby] -Aether describes Alexis' appearance and status as a ghost, noting her semi-transparency, the thin aura that surrounds her, her floating, and so on. -Aether describes how the party was attacked by feral animals and was ultimately rescued by talking animals. She also explains the high esteem Tetrans give ponies --"Ponies are of a completely different breed on all of Tetra. Peerless except among their own minuscule number, natural born Numeri, and immune to the effects of the Taint." -Aether explains the nature of Souls, how they're produced, what they are, and how only a select few Tetrans have the power to use them. These Tetrans are called Numeri. All Ponies are natural Numeri, able to use Souls without training or practice. --"A few more things about being Numeri." the chief states as he holds up his paw, "As Numeri, you can hold an unlimited number of Souls in your body, sharing the space with your own Soul. But, you can only actually use three of them at once. The powers you're using now we call Anima: techniques or powers Numeri invoke using Souls. And these Anima powers, can be divided into three types." He holds up one claw at a time as he explains them, --"Glavo, Souls used for attack. Sildo, Souls used for protection. And Ilo, Souls used for utilities. As an example, the water jets our ghostly mare was just casting would be an example of Glavo, for offense." -Aether describes the agriculture and economics of Kaba Village, a settlement on the island of Kachina. -Aether provides a lengthy description of Goblins, small green creatures in crude gear standing guard over a cave entrance. She describes them as having "Lack of... decency... relative... to our... species." after seeing one piss in a stream. -Aether describes how she told Alexis her mother died in childbirth, only for Alexis to freak out and tell her that you shouldn't drop things that heavy on total strangers. She notes that Alexis told her she didn't do anything 'wrong', it just freaks people out. -Aether describes the metal elemental Satar, who supposedly betrayed his people. She also explains some of the mining methods of the elementals and other inhabitants of the village of Seele, not far from Kaba. -Aether describes the nature of 'Demons' a powerful subgroup of corrupted Tetrans known as 'Tainted' --Satar turns to you, "You don't know, miss…?" He says in slight confusion, taking a moment to consider how to explain. --"Well… you know about Tainted, right? How dark magic corrupts and transforms normal animals, plants, elementals, whatever into feral creatures, and then eventually into monsters? Well, most of the time when they finally succumb to the taint, they come out completely different than before. Sometimes mindless, sometimes with a totally different personality, almost always a new kind of creature." Satar's tone takes on a more serious, low note. --"Every so often, one of two things happen. First: the Tainted that comes out doesn't forget who it was. They had a strong enough will to hang on to part of what they were before. Their minds are warped, but not destroyed, and these kinds of Tainted usually end up smarter than the rest and lead them. Second: some Tainted develop this thing called Soul Hunger. They wind up with an insatiable desire to eat Souls from their victims, and the more the consume the stronger they get. These Tainted usually have the opposite problem of the first ones though: their hunger makes them stronger, but in the process they lose even more of themselves until they devolve into mindless ferocity." --"Demons… are what you get in those rare, dangerous moments where a Tainted who turns happens who have BOTH of these symptoms. A beast with a hunger for Souls that makes them more and more powerful with every bite they eat, and worse the intellect to actually put that strength to good use. And we have TWO of them up there." -Aether describes Ogre Island, the home base of Grak the Goblin Shaman. She also briefly notes that Metal Elementals eat metal. -Aether describes how when she used a Lesser Feline Soul as an Ilo it caused her to spontaneously develop feline features such as more catlike eyes and tail. She explains the modifications to her body in detail. -Detailed descriptions of the goblin shaman Grak's alchemical sets are given, as well as abridged versions of the events leading up to Princess Kachina's capture.   --Birth of Gold Horns and Silver Horns Master Grak tells of how he discovered a pair of extremely over-cooked Tainted at the bottom of his cauldron, and upon prying them out were met with the shimmering ogre siblings he named Gold Horns and Silver Horns, the first Demons to exist on the island in over a century. He imagines them a game-changer, but does not wish to send them blindly against Kachina, and their impatience makes them exceedingly difficult to control for the High Shaman (who fears for his very life with them around). He barely keeps them in check for weeks. --Arrival of the Stranger Fortune strikes when a trio of animals not native to the island, a large lion (named Rasheo), ape, and dog, arrive suddenly on Ogre Island with promises of change. They represent a sponsor who would like to see Kachina taken care of, and he wealth of Souls she holds extracted. To this end, they provide Grak with an artifact far more powerful than the humble Shaman had ever seen in this or any lifetime, promising it would give them the edge. --3. Capture of Kachina The High Shaman and the Horn Siblings led an assault up Kachina's mountain to her castle, whereupon they were met with the dragon guardians Pryftan and Tragu. Much to even the Shaman's surprise, Gold Horn and Silver Horns were able to over-come the dragons and defeat them, leaving only Kachina. Kachina was more than enough to handle the weakened Demons, and was just about to kill them AND the Shaman in one fell swoop, when Rasheo and his cohorts struck from behind with the Cage, trapping her instantly in the glowing green orb with no way out. They split the key to the orb into three (one for each of the Tainted), and Rasheo demanded they repay them with Kachina's Souls in time. --4. Taming of the Dragons After Kachina was captured, the High Shaman had a thought to deal with the dragon guardians left behind. To kill them would be a waste, but he did not care to Taint them either: the stronger the original creature, the stronger the Tainted, and he had enough trouble containing Gold and Silver Horns. Instead, he concocted a spell to hex the draconic pair to instill a state similar to Doomed, one that would not be easily broken with Kachina captured. He was only able to command them to do one simple task: let no one else upon the mountain save Tainted, but felt it would be enough. With the dragons guarding the mountain, Silver and Gold Horns guarding Kachina's cage, the Shaman could safely study a way to extract the 10,000 Souls Kachina holds. He makes not that he has no intention of giving them to Rasheo, but instead to feed them to Gold Horns and Silver Horns so as to make them nigh unstoppable.   -Aether notes that Alexis told her that although she's a ghost, she isn't invincable as far as she knows and can be injured. -Aether's notes describe her interview with Princess Kachina, explaining that among other things --She was born on this planet, she didn't come from Equestria --Native ponies on Tetra, or 'the Twelve' are completley immortal and revive if killed. --Kachina has a TV and recieves TV broadcasts from over ten years ago live, presumably due to travelling intersteller distances. She shows some knowledge of Equestrian culture through this, notably recogonizing [and being a fan of] Pain Train. --The current country the party is in is known as Chevalerie. It is several thousand miles to Yggrasil, in a jungle country called Vanaheim. --The most advanced race on Tetra is known as the Machines, are are the inventors of her television set. The TV is old-fashioned with dials and bunny-ears, and the Machine race itself is 'only' centuries old. --She quotes Kachina's descriptions of 'the Tarrying' or sentient undead on Tetra --"The Tarrying are any Tetrans who, through one means or another, persist after death. Vampires, wraiths, liches, zombies, spirits, etcetera. Though most of the dead seek Yggdrasil after dying, they instead prolong their journey. Or, 'Tarrying', as it were. --She briefly describes the reincarnation Cycle, attributing the powers of reincarnation to Yggrasil itself. --Kachina thinks about the answer for a moment. "More or less, yes. Everything that dies on Tetra, besides ponies I mentioned, turn into spirits that make their way to Yggdrasil to be reborn. It's what we call the Cycle, the never-ending journey of death and rebirth. Some choose to be reborn as animals or elementals, losing their memories in the process, or others choose to be reborn as Plants, which retain all of them. Others still choose to risk it all on becoming Machines, and so forth. But, the short of it is is that Yggdrasil has the power to bring anything in this world back into any form it chooses." --Aether inquires from Kachina as to whether Tetrans have sex given they are reborn, to which Kachina answers in the affirmative. --Kachina gives a small snort, "I'm sorry, that's... just not a question I was expecting to answer. Of course they reproduce. It usually balances out between those who are born and those who die. When a new life is born, it is usually because a spirit had gone to Yggdrasil and chose to be reborn as a new member of that Path. Almost every animal, plant, and elemental you've met here on the island has surely been one of the other three in a previous life. Though, not every newborn has had a previous life: sometimes Yggdrasil creates new souls as well, but these are rarer." -Aether notes that Tetrans have yaks and griffons but not Changlings.
