For no apparent reason He's out of breath It's getting harder again Maybe he should just stop   He walks the path He always did But the sun set again And he already forgot what night was like   He forgot the enveloping uncertainty The addictive inaction He's not scared like he used to be Nor as blind   But at night, he's still uncertain And it's still hard to see He can handle dehydration, and walking uphill, and the vultures But he just wishes the path would stop being so narrow And that it will lead to another day   He knows it will Just have it come along faster
