This is a basic outline for the proposed "littlest nymph" character, for use as a communal character by /tg/'s smut thread writers. Until we decide upon a name, I'm going to be referring to her as Fernweh. As far as I can tell, this is the German word for "wanderlust," which I believe is appropriate. *Note that this is all preliminary brainstorming and subject to change*   Storyline ideas from /tg/: -Fernweh helping a lovestruck goblin girl how to please the man she loves. -A dragon trying to add Fernweh to his hoard. -Full body lesbian hug-sex with a lamia. -Fernweh helping an alchemist collect rare and powerful ingredients. Namely her juices. -Fernweh stopping a rival angel and demoness from fighting to the death all the time (since they can't die anyway) by teaching them to make love and not war. -Fernweh standing up to a mean 'ole minotaur and convincing him to stop being so rude and eating people all the time. -A Harvest Moon 64 parody. Young man inherits his grandfather's run down farm. She helps him make things grow. -Lesbian cuddlings -Consensual Drider boning -Something with a grumpy old ent -Mature Fernweh meeting one of her old lovers and making up for lost time     The Littlest Nymph: Fernweh is a young nymph, a magical being of life and love. She is traveling the world and looking for a new home [Was her old home destroyed in a forest fire? or Perhaps she just wanted to travel before settling down?].  Her magic is powered by life, meaning she get's "charged" by being in places like woods or lakes or rivers, or by having sex. Her mood and strength is often reflected by the seasons. In spring and summer she is cheerful, full of sunshine and giggles, while in fall she is a bit nervous and melancholy. In winter she's usually sullen and lethargic. However, being with a person she likes (either just being friendly with them or outright having sex) will perk her up considerably. For example, her favorite winter activity might be having a snowball fight.   Her attitude towards sex is somewhat casual, but she does feel at least some need to feel an emotional connection with her partner. There has to be some joy to the lovemaking for her to truly benefit from it. Her sex partners also feel fulfilled and invigorated after a night with Fernweh. All that being said, she warms up to people very quickly and is trusting almost to a fault.   HER MAGIC Going back to the mechanics of her magic, I assume they would be somehow tied to her location.  In a forest or river she would be powerful, while in a city of stone she would be little more than a human with a degree of magical ability. In a forest she would have no need to eat or sleep, but away from nature she would require regular human sustenance, or a regular supply of lovemaking. I can imagine some of our writers would have fun writing a story were she holes up in a town for the winter with someone she likes and waits out the snow with cuddles and such.   HER AGE As to her age... I think having it be variable would work best for our purposes. She does age, but much slower than a human. Use her relative age as an indication of how long she has been traveling. She starts as a loli, carefree and incredibly naive. If you write her just as she starts her travels, she may have difficulty understanding why she can't go around naked, like she did back in the glade.   Teenage Fernweh would be more used to the outside world and would be consequently less bubbly and trusting. I imagine her being a bit like Aisling from "The Secret of Kells" at this point: somewhat cautious of getting close to a stranger, but becoming a lifelong friend once she gets to know them.   By the time she's in her twenties (the oldest I'd imagine her getting), she'd be a bit selective and refined. Look up Ancient Greek hetaira for the basic idea. They were independent prostitutes that had considerable freedom and the right to own property. Minus the prostitute part, this is how I'd think Fernweh would act: regal, cultured, and oozing eroticism from every pore on her body.   Throughout these stages in life, she would retain a love of nature that carries a protectiveness for it as well. As a loli, she would have difficulty understanding how or why people could be cruel or malicious, as a teen she would get angered by it and use her powers to stop them, and as an adult she would use her connections with influential people to make a difference more covertly.   GENERAL ADVICE When writing her, keep in mind that her ultimate goal is to find a new permanent home. Because of this, she would be somewhat mercurial. No matter how much she liked a person or persons, she will eventually feel the overwhelming need to move on, keep exploring. She leaves her lovers better, more confident people, but does ultimately leaves them.   To incorporate the large number of mythological "nymphs," we have decided that the nymphs of this setting are born as a "generic" breed that becomes a particular kind of nymph (dryad, naiad, etc) after they choose their domain. This can be used as a reason for Fernweh's exploration: she's trying to find who SHE is, as well. Also, this allows for some fun if she ever runs into another nymph, as they would probably find her "genericness" to be cute or endearing.   I'd think she'd also be a bit sensitive about it, just as many children want to be considered "more grown up."   Let's see, that covers her powers, age, and personality... ah, yes. Weaknesses. As a fae/magical being, she would share the classical weaknesses of those beings. Iron can hurt her, draining her powers and making her all but human. After a time, she would likely develop an extreme phobia of iron-based metals.  Since she is not an evil entity or a ghost, she would have no problem crossing moving water. Just use your best judgement.   THE WORLD I suppose that just leaves the world in which she lives. Since /tg/'s smut writers will be the ones populating it, I suggest we discuss it and make it as open as possible.   In order to allow for as many possibilities as... possible, the current design for the setting is to simply have different regions be inspired by the real culture of your preference. The culture present in each area, and the creatures that inhabit it, reflect what you want it to. For example, you could make a Norse-inspired region inhabited by Viking-like humans, elves, dark elves, giants, and dwarfs.   Monster girls are generally seen as a good idea. We still need to decide whether to have each monster girl race have its own culture, or simply let them be reimagined by the culture of the region your story happens to take place in.   Again, keep in mind that all of this is subject to change, depending on what /tg/ thinks would work best for writing. Mask has commented that they might find side characters more interesting than the communal one, but I say that's a good thing. We've already had people suggest we create a shared smut world setting, and I think this would be an excellent way for it to evolve naturally. Just keep in mind that other writers may feel inclined to borrow characters/factions/races you create for the shared world, though I'd imagine they would feel inclined to ask your permission first.   THOUGHTS I've tried to make Fernweh's character as flexible and open to interpretation as possible. Onyx summed it up nicely, "It would be like the Conan stories. He just arrives in a place with no explanation as to how he got there but that's not the important part. The important part is the adventure of the day. The chronological order doesn't matter."   Chronology would only matter insofar as how old and experienced she is at the time. Just have fun with it!   Don't feel like Fernweh even has to be the focus of your story, and certainly don't feel entitled to making her the point of view character if you don't want to. She's more or less intended to a be a connecting thread to bind our stories together.   Once we get the basics hammered out, I'll write up an origin story for her. Just a little something to give us all a feel for her character, a foundation we can build on.   ENDGAME We've had a little bit of discussion about the eventual "endgame" for Fernweh. Rather than succeeding in her quest to find a home, we seem to be leaning towards the idea that she chooses the whole world as her domain. Over the years, she becomes something of a demi-goddess. Think of her at this stage as a sort of epic level encounter. People hear stories about her and secretly want to run into her while traveling, but at least claim to not believe she's real at all. Add to this the usual group of people that will -claim- to have met her, but really haven't.   Another option would be for her to become a sort of Avatar of Mother Nature.   We're still working on it, but here's where the conversation started: https://archive.foolz.us/tg/thread/32803842/#32808955
