"Fluffy Research" 3/?   >You are Dylan, a freelance researcher, mid 20’s, brown hair, lazy attitude and you’re a complete nerd. >You just got hired by the WWF to study a new type of “animal” that's becoming a problem worldwide. >They call it a "Fluffy pony" >you’ve never heard of such a thing and took the case out of curiosity. >Man was that a stupid idea, you had no idea working with them would be this hard. >You wake up at about 7A.M; you have to prepare for the day. >The research you managed to get done in the lab suggested that fluffies sleep about 10 hours each day, but this data is based off domestic fluffies. >By your own calculations, feral fluffies are more likely to sleep 6-8 hours each night followed by short naps through the day. >Quickly finishing your morning chores, you check up on the special fluffies you got yesterday, they’re all sound asleep in a small fluffpile, snoring lightly. Dang these things are cute…  >you refill their food bowl before you sit down by the screens and watch the herd inside the cave again; most of them are still asleep. >You see some light movement coming from the mares with foals, suggesting they’re feeding their young. >The rest of the herd is still calm though, you spot a single yellow Pegasus drinking some water over by the spring and some earth fluffies stretching out in the cave. >You just sit there, watching the scene slowly unfold before you, the herd waking up slowly in unison followed by them running outside the cave taking a crap out there somewhere. >Got to hand it to the Smarty friend, it sure knows how to keep the herd controlled, what little you’ve read suggests that most Smarty friends tend to sleep with the dams for warmth, beat members of the herd often and generally act like they’re way better than the rest of the herd. >This one however, doesn’t do any of that. >It sleeps by the mares and colts, almost never smacks a member of the herd and doesn’t behave to self centered. > You write this down in your journal and keep on looking. >The rather odd mother you watched yesterday seems a tad calmer today, she’s not as skeptical to her herd mates. >As you sit there looking at the mare, you spot something on one of the monitors, looking at it you quickly spot its two fluffies mating, perfect! >You quickly turn on the mike inside the cave to listen in on them while taking all the notes you can. >their act is rather odd to watch, it almost looks like the male is struggling to get anything done at all, he tries over and over again to mount the awaiting mare, but fails every time. >Getting slightly bored from watching two fluffies desperately trying to “hug” you almost give up, but then you hear the tell-tale sound: “enf-enf-enf-enf” >”fwuffy fee goo’ make best speciaw huggies!” The reddish brown stallion exclaims as he humps for his life, the mare seems rather distant from it all… Odd, you thought she’d be more positive about this. >She just lies there, awaiting her sticky fate, ignoring the stallion completely. >”Huwwy up dumb specia fwend! Wan be mumma soon! Wan babbhes!” The mare suddenly shouts, taking you by surprise. >So that’s why she’s annoyed by all this, she’s starting to dislike her special friend and his apparently “bad” special hugs. >Watching the scene in front of you closely for what seems like 10min, the stallion suddenly finishes and falls down on the ground panting heavily, he’s probably spent for now. >”Dumb specia fwend slow at specia hugs, give bad specia hugs too, sometime’ no babbhes come” You hear the mare grumble to herself as she walks over to the sleeping area and lie down to take what you guess is a quick nap. >You stop watching her for a while and look back out at the herd, they’re all doing something on their own, most of them are either eating grass just outside the cave, or drinking water inside by the spring. >Some of the younger ones are playing a rather easy version of what you’d guess to be “Hide and seek”, to be fair, they can’t count properly and the only “hiding” they do is covering their eyes. >The last group you look at is the mares with foals. >They’re doing the same thing they did yesterday, feeding their foals while telling them how much they love every one of them. >The odd mare’s behavior’s gotten worse since this morning; she’s back to how she was yesterday when she arrived, feeding her foals the same way and growling at passing stallions. >Today however, will be a bit different. >You quickly notice that something is going to happen when a cyan earth stallion suddenly walks up beside the mare and gently sits down to play with her foals. >”Wha yu hewe fo!? Go ‘way! Nu wan stawwion hewe! “She shouts at the perplexed stallion. >The stallion just sits there, looking at the mare with a puzzled face. >He most probably didn’t expect her attitude and is struggling to figure out why she’s angry at him. >The mood quickly takes a turn for the worse as the Fluffy mother sweeps up her foals, puts them behind her and smacks the stallion with all her might on the nose. >You hear a very light crunching sound, suggesting something small was broken by the blow, the stallion sure felt this as he’s now lying on the floor curled up bawling his eyes out. >”*Sob* Why huwt fwuufy!? Onwy wan pway wi’ babbhes!*sob* nu pway bad!” He manages to ask between sobs, the mare just stands there looking at him with a stern face. >You clearly see the blood dripping from his nose, coloring the ground red. That was one hard blow. >”Why gif fwuffy owwies? Why gif owwie wa-wa? Dis game nu fun” The stallion speaks once more, he’s clearly in a lot of pain right now. >The herd quickly gathers around to watch the scene, some try to hug and comfort the stallion, while others are shouting and poking the attacking mare. >The scene quickly calms down as the Smarty friend appears by the mare and speaks up; >”Quiet! Smawty wook and decide!” It shouts to the herd, they respond by backing up, giving the smarty friend room to look and decide the fate of the mother. >The smarty friend walks over to the stallion first and looks at his damaged nose, it smells it, pokes it lightly with a hoof and licks some of the blood on the ground up and tastes it. >You find this to be rather odd, if you didn’t know any better, you’d say this was some form of trial. > Done with the stallion, it moves over to the mare and looks at her and her foals. >Before the mare can react, the smarty friend quickly moves over and gently puts a hoof on one of her foals, a red earth pony. >”NUU! Pwease nu gif owwies to babbeh! Babbheh nu bad fwuffy” The mare screams as she sees the smarty friend put her hoof on the foal. >”Why yu gif owwies to ota fwuffy? Wha fwuffy do bad?” the Smarty friend asks the now gently sobbing mare. >”Fwuffy twy to gif owwies to babbhes! I gif owwies fiwst!” The mare quickly answers, it’s clearly a lie. >”Yu dumb mumma! Fwuffy onwy wan pway with babbhes! No huwt babbhes!” The smarty friend retorts, applying a tad more pressure to her hoof, causing the some slight pain, making it cry gently. >”otay! Fwuffy no twy huwt babbhes! Fwuffy onwy twy pway! No bad fwuffy! Mummah sowwy!” The mother finally admits, before she breaks down into a sobbing ball of fluff. >”dis wast time! If yu gif owwies to mowe fwuffies, we take yu babbhes and gif to ota mummah!” The smarty yells to the crying mare as it leaves. >Man that’s kind of harsh, getting her kids taken away if she whacks another fluffy in the herd and even worse, the foals will just be given to another mare in the herd, meaning that if they were taken she’d have to spend every day looking at another mare playing and loving her foals. >You write all this down in your journal, feral fluffies actually holding something kind of similar to a trial, that’s actually quite clever of them. >Got to keep an eye out for anything else like this.
