Surviving Suburbia, Part 1.   (This story is written through the eyes and mind of Minty: A Brown Unicorn with a red mane. We follow him and the herd he belongs to, a good sized herd of 27 fluffies as they try to survive the suburban landscape. It’s my first go at a fluffy story, so don’t expect miracles.)   > Wake up fluffies! Need to move now, big white ball rising soon. Big monsters soon come!” You hear your herds Smarty friend shout to the herd, you don’t want to get up just yet, but if you don’t move, the herd won’t get any nummies today. >“Come on Fluffies! No time to waste! Fluffy mummas need nummies to make milk for babies!” He shouts once again, you slowly get up on your feet and look around, everyone is still here. No one got taken during the night by the bad two legged monsters.   >“Ok, ok. We awake!” Some of the other stallions beside you speak as they get on their hooves again. >“Come on Minty, It’s our turn to defend big fluffy mummas today. They need nummies so good babies come.” Your best friend Clover shouts to you. He’s a yellow Pegasus with a light red mane. >“Ok Ok, I come” You shout back as you quickly run over to him. > The park where you go find nummies  is a dangerous place, no two legged monsters, but lots of bad Fluffies there. The bad fluffies want to keep park to themselves, attacking other fluffies that try to eat there, give big owies to those that try. >“Ok Fluffies, we go now!” Smart friend shouts as you stop alongside Clover. The whole herd does as he says and starts walking out of the den. >You walk out of the den and look at your surroundings. They seem safe, but you’re not too sure. >”Come on herd, we move fast, big white ball rising!” Smart friend shouts as he pushes some of the big fluffy mummas out of the den.   >”Come clover, we need to protect big fluffy mummas as they go to park” You shout back to clover, he’s falling a behind the herd. >”I come, I come. No worry.” Clover shouts back at you as he starts running back up to you. > You protect the big fluffy mummas from the monsters that try to give them big owies. >You continue up the path towards the park, the steep climb is tiresome.   > As you walk out of the tunnel, two monsters attack you. >They kick you hard in the stomach, the pain is harsh. It leaves you drifting in and out of consciousness. >They then turn their focus to the herd, looking at the fluffies trying desperately to hide or run away. >They set their eyes on the big fluffy mummas > They bend down and pick up two of the big Fluffy mummas, Lilly and Sun. They cry and beg when they’re lifting them up.   >“Pwease no huwt! *sob* be Mumma soon. Big Fluffy mummas be good fwuffy, never do bad things to hoomans,*sob* haf babies soon” >“Maybe we should spare them Frank? Look at how pathetic they are! They can’t even move on their own!” >“No, this will be so much fun, splashing them on the concrete: blood, guts and dead foals everywhere! Think about it Pete!” >“All right, I’ll go first” >As they throw them towards the ground you clear up and witness the act. >“No!” You shout as big fluffy mummas hit the ground, they die instantly. Boo-boo juice seeping out from all holes, the foals either get crushed inside the mother or end up ejected just outside her. They’re all dead.   > The other fluffy Mummas and big Fluffy mummas cry and wet themselves in fear, the only thing they manage to do is to put their babies up on their backs. The stallions fair no better. They soil themselves too. >“Run fluffies! Monsters here! Run!” Your smarty friend shouts to the herd, forcing them to run back down into the tunnel you came from >you all start running the best you can, back towards the dark place where you live. It safe there, No monsters come. >”Hey look frank, they’re running away! Look at those ugly neon hairballs go.” One of the monsters speak, he not like us fluffies >”Yeah, just let them go Pete, I don’t feel like chasing them right now.” The other munsta speaks before leaving.   >”Smarty friend, wait! Monsters leave! No need to run away!” You shout back to your smarty friend. >He stops the herd and looks at you. >”No safe anymore! Need to go safe place!” He shouts before turning around and steering the herd back to your safe hiding place in the underground. >You arrive shortly after, tired from running. >Your safe place is a large cupboard with a hole in the side, just big enough to fit your big Fluffy mummas through. >Once through the cupboard you enter a large hole in the concrete wall, big enough to fit a large herd of fluffies >your herd is very big, but you lost friends today. >The big Fluffy mummas get pushed onto the old pillows you have lying in a corner. It’s the best place in the whole hole. Only the big Fluffy mummas and fluffy mummas get to sleep there, it’s warm and dry, keeps the babies safe from sleeping forever.   >Some of the Fluffy mummas complain to smarty friend. “They hungwy and have no milk for the babies.” >”Minty! Come here, need talk” Your smart friend speaks, you do as told and walk over. >”Minty, this place no safe anymore. We lose two big Fluffy mummass today. We also lose three Fluffy mummas earlier this bloomy time. We move soon, go find safe place for babies” He finishes speaking. >”I know, but where go? City no safe, underground no safe either.  There be too many monsters and bad fluffies that hurt or eat us fluffies.” You answer back, wondering where the herd could go. >”I no know, but we no stay here longer. Move where big white ball rise. It safer there” Your smart friend finishes after a long break, you agree.   >”We move when big fluffy mummas have babies, it not safe to go before.”He continues. > Ok, but fluffy mummas need nummies soon. They no have milk, babies hungry.” You reply. Bad monsters made you skip nummies, had to hide instead. >”We no walk there again. Monsters still be around, it too late now, big bright ball to high.” He speaks.  >”You need to go find nummies for herd. Take Clover and Sandy. They always find good nummies.”  Your smarty friend finishes.   >”Ok, I go now. Find good nummies for fluffy mummas.” You say back before going to other fluffies. >”Clover, Sandy! We go find nummies for herd. Fluffy mummas need nummies for babies and Milk now!” You speak; they follow you out to look. Need to find nummies real soon. >You leave den and go to underground nummies hole, grass taste better, but these nummies safe for fluffies. >You walk for what feels like an eternity, the nummies pit is a long way. Then in the distance you spot pit, walk faster. You reach pit, it not very full, but some nummies are there. >”Sandy, go find carry thing for nummies while we look” You tell Sandy as she arrives with Clover. >You then tell Clover to look for any nummmies he can find, before starting to look too. >”Minty! I found nummies! Look!” Clover shouts as he takes something from the pile >You walk over and look, it is what the two legged monsters call fwl-ies. >”Good Clover! Now find mo nummies!” You tell him pointing at hill. >You walk back and search the hill for nummies, soon you find a big thing with green stuff in it, you don’t know the name, you think monsters call it Sa-lad. >”Sandy! Come soon! We found nummies! Lot’s of nummies for herd!” you shout out to Sandy. Need to go back soon, fluffy mummas no get less hungry.   >”I come, I come!” Sandy shouts as he come with thing to carry nummies with.  You put all nummies in thing and walk back to den. >”These nummies look good, make smarty friend proud! Maybe we get to give special hugs?” Clover says as you walk back. He always wants to give special hugs, it’s not all good. He often does it without permission and makes smart friend angry. >”I no know, but herd move soon. No need big fluffy mummas when move, will slow herd down.” You tell Clover, he understands. >Sandy silent whole walk home. He not say much at all, often quiet. But he smart fluffy, maybe next smarty friend?   >You arrive at the den entrance, Red and Bun is protecting the way inn. They greet you. >”Hello Minty! You find nummies for herd? Fluffy mummas complain! Babies hungry.” >”Yes, we find good nummies. Mummas and babies have food now.” You reply as they let you bring nummies to smarty friend. >” You found good nummies! Well done! Herd now eat and be strong.” Smarty friend says as you walk into den, he proud of you. >”Come fluffies! We have nummies! Big fluffy mummas first, then fluffy mummas, and then other fluffies.” He tell herd as they look at the nummies. >The fluffy mummas move in closer and begin eating the nummies. They let out short *Noms* as they eat to show their gratitude.   >When the fluffy mummas are all done, the stallions in the herd get to eat the nummies that are left. When all the nummies are gone Smarty friend speaks up. >”Herd! Listen to me! This place no safe no more! We need move soon!” >”Why we move? Place safe, good nummies and munstas no come! One of the fluffies shout back. He’s a slim unicorn with a green mane and mauve fluff. >”What you mean we no move!? We loose two big fluffy mummas today! This place no safe! We move soon!” Smart friend shouts back, glaring at the unicorn. >”We have new rules now! We wait here for babies to come, when they here we move! No special hugs now until we move to new place!” Smarty continues. >The stallions in the herd look annoyed, but none of them dare to challenge Smarty. He knows best and keeps the herd safe from munstas.   >After you finish eating your part of the nummies , you go and lay down on the pillows by the mares to have a rest. > As you lay down, the fluffy mummas lying there hug you tightly, thanking you. >”Thank you Minty, we now have milk for babies.” The mummas say in turn, each one hugging you as they finish speaking. >You just lay there for a while, looking at the mummas feed their young, you turn around and look at the big fluffy mummas that sleep close to the wall. >When the mummas are done feeding they shuffle the foals in the middle and lay down in a circle around them.   >”Go to sleep babies. Need sleep” They say as the foals lay down to sleep. >You fall asleep beside some of the mares, feeling their warmth as they embrace you.  >”Minty, Clover and Sandy come here!  Need talk” Smarty shouts, waking you from your nap >You get up, thank the mummas and walk over to smarty. He looks at you all before he speaks. >”Babies come soon, need to know safe way. You go look, find safe way for herd.” Smart speaks looking at the three of you.   >”Minty, you go straight, Clover you go along wet place and Sandy; you go along high dry place. Come back when big white ball go away.” Smarty commands you before he leaves. >You do as told and walk out of your safe place, into the scary underground. >You look around and thankfully see no munstas. You then look up at the big white ball and see that it’s high up in the sky, it won’t go away for long time. >”We meet here when big white ball go away as smarty said. Run away if you see munstas. They make way not safe.” You quickly tell Clover and Sandy as you all start walking.
