Name: Noctis Shadowborne (real name Kuro Muko)   Alias: "Nox"   Class: Assassin/Shadowmancer   Race: "Shadetouched" Human   Age: 24   Occupation:   Residence: Noxus, Bilgewater, Zaun, wherever his whims take him.   Alignment: Lawful Evil ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Ability ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Shadetouched As a result of Nox’s “bonding” with the shadows, his body has changed considerably. He can fade from view, completely, on a whim, render himself incorporeal to walk through people or objects, teleport from one shadow to another (limited to 10 foot increments up to a maximum of 500 feet a day), as well as call forth actual Shadows to fight alongside him. Nox naturally has an affinity for illusory or deceptive magics and abilities, allowing him to create copies of his voice and utilize something similar to ventriloquism. In addition, he can create sounds of things that are not truly there, make illusory images out of “shadowstuff”, and render himself virtually undetectable by silencing his own footfalls, preventing himself from leaving footprints, render himself very difficult to detect with scrying magics, and jump from impossible heights while taking only minimal damage. Lastly, his body is immune to the effects of draining spells or attacks that pull away life-force or otherwise use negative energy to do harm. These types of inflicting spells actually have the opposite effect on Nox, healing him, rather than harming. However, these blessings come with a fairly hefty cost. Nox cannot be healed by normal holy energies, and, in fact, can be damaged by such types of spells or effects. This means that damage inflicted upon him can take a truly long time to heal if he is without the aid of his shadow allies.   Eye of the Shadow Unlike most humanoids, Nox can actually see completely invisible targets as the shadows “betray” their presence, outlining them in a faint violet glow visible only to Nox himself. In addition, Nox has the ability to see, even in areas where there is zero light, and can see perfectly clearly in areas of dim light as well. This perfect night/dark-vision only functions out to a range of 120 feet in each direction.   Shadow Manipulation Nox has the innate ability to summon forth shadow energy from the shadows around him, and draw from them for many different varieties of attack and defense. As long as there are shadows of any kind present, including his own, he can draw forth their power and abilities. As a result, his power is more limited during the day, but can still function. At night, however, Nox is truly within his element. It should be noted that Nox is, primarily, a melee combatant, which means attacks using this ability are more or less limited to dealing with things in a physical way, like forming a barrier to block damage from a particularly nasty spell, or attacking with a hail of conjured shadow blades. It should also be noted that this ability can still be used in tandem with his illusory abilities.   Shadow Call These Shadows are sentient creatures that can communicate through the language of shadows directly to Nox, and can attack a target through armor as if it were non-existent, effectively attacking the very essence of a person that keeps them alive. Due to this, even undead creatures are wounded by this kind of attack. The touch of these creatures drains the life energy from a person, weakening them further with each consecutive touch, ultimately resulting in their death. They are incorporeal creatures, meaning normal weapons cannot harm them. Magic and magical weapons, however, can injure them and defeat them, though these strange creatures take far reduced damage from physical means. Nox can call forth up to 4 Shadows to fight for him daily, though one is always considered to be dwelling within his shadow at all times below ground. If he so chooses, Nox can call forth all 4 Shadows at once to form a Greater Shadow, a truly terrifying creature of blackness.   Shadow Strike Due to the inherently tricky nature of his shadow abilities, Nox can do increased damage (up to 4x) to any target that is unaware of his exact location by picking blows against their weakest areas. He is capable of fighting while being invisible, making this a very strong part of his arsenal. Of course, even if an opponent is unaware of his exact location does not mean they cannot strike back or attempt to hit him anyway. If Nox so chooses, this ability can be used to drain some of the target’s energy and siphon it into Nox to restore some damage done to him.   Shadows’ Embrace This is the ability that allows Nox to become, and fight while, invisible. His basic invisibility, silence, and trackless abilities are unlimited when activated, however, when he strikes or takes a hostile action, this invisibility is removed. It can be replaced, however, if Nox spends his next action retreating, and not attacking in any way. However, Nox has the ability to render himself completely invisible and attack while not breaking the ability. This kind of invisibility, however, is not unlimited. This power can only be used a maximum of 3 times per day, and lasts for roughly 15 seconds each time, or roughly 3 posts of combat. While in this advanced state, Nox can attack all he wants and not break his invisibility. Of course, this does not render him invulnerable to damage… ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ [ Equipment ] ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Ayanami and Soryu Nox uses two agile blades similar in shape and ability to falcatas. The only major difference are that Nox’s blades are slightly smaller than your average falcata, allowing him to dual-wield them with ease. These weapons are also magical in nature, and can actually penetrate armor to a degree, and overcome some levels of damage resistance. This effectively allows him to pierce defenses and magical barriers to deal some residual damage to targets using them to assist in their defense. These weapons can also be called to Nox’s hands by uttering their names from within a range of up to 100 feet.   Shadowgrasp Boots These black boots are enchanted to give Nox sure footing on any surface, including vertical surfaces like walls, on ice, or on any other unstable or slippery terrain. They cannot, however, allow him to walk on ceilings.   Ebonymail Curiass This enchanted black chainmail sits under Nox’s attire and grants him some small level of defense against bladed strikes and the like. It is incredibly durable, but does not offer the protection, or movement penalties, associated with heavy armor. It does, however, offer Nox some element of Magic Resistance, dampening the effects of magical attacks made against him by around 25%.   Shady Vestments These black robes and accompanying hooded cloak are Nox’s main form of attire. They are enchanted to never get dirty (as such things could leave a trail) and will actually repair themselves over time if damaged during combat. Once a day they can remove any and all negative effects plaguing Nox. This includes, but is not limited to, poisons, diseases, stunning effects, silencing effects, exhaustion, hunger, thirst, and all manner of curses or magical ailments. These also give Nox some element of Magic Resistance, lessening the damage by an additional 15%   Pouch of Holding This unassuming pouch similar to a coin-purse is actually a magical item, allowing Nox to store up to 40 pounds of items occupying a space of no more than 20 cubic feet. No matter what is placed into the bag, it will always weigh 1 pound.   Poisons Nox carries several different kinds of poison on his person at all times. They can be delivered via touch, via wounds, by air, or by ingesting them depending on how he wishes to administer them. While they can cause a large variety of effects, death is not one of them. However, sufferers of such poisons may simply wish for death. Some nasty examples are listed below.      * Spellbane     This poison actively attacks the magical or spiritual conduits of a person, lessening the effects of spells or abilities in general. Consecutive doses can actually prevent a fighter, mage or otherwise, from using their abilities. This poison is otherwise harmless, except for a touch of nausea that will pass in two to three days, as will the effects of the poison regardless of dose.      * Frostbite     This poison causes a person to become beset with uncontrollable muscle spasms that make holding equipment or weapons far more difficult. Consecutive or concentrated doses cause the spasms to become painful as the body shivers and attempts to contort itself into harmful positions.      * Touch of Fatigue     As the name suggests, this poison will act to make a person more and more exhausted with consecutive doses, eventually preventing them from standing, fighting, or doing anything but collapsing into a deathly tired heap. Other side effects include sweating and blurred vision.      * Lifebane     This poison, applied only through a wound, temporarily inflicts an individual with the same condition as Nox, preventing any healing from effecting them positively, and instead simply causing it to harm them. This effect will last for one hour per dose. Nox can inflict a grievous wound with this poison, and then allow his target to die of natural causes, preventing healing from aiding them, and only serving to injure them further. Only negative or draining energies can effectively heal a person afflicted with this poison. However, this also limits the ways in which Nox can harm the target as well. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Description ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Noctis Shadowborne, real name Kuro Muko, is roughly five feet ten inches tall, and fairly thin, but filled out with lean muscle. Due to his connection with the shadows, his eyes are a dark violet shade, and seem to swirl in an otherworldly way in darkness. His hair, originally dark brown, has since been bleached white by the extended exposure to draining energies.   Nox doesn’t talk much. He keeps to himself. He doesn’t cause trouble, and generally will not harm anyone that has not offended him in some way. In the simplest sense, Nox is not a bad person, he simply does bad things to those deserving of it, and will stop at nothing to achieve whatever goal he has set for himself. When attacking a target, he is cold, calculating, and stealthily efficient. He follows his own moral code, even if that means ruthlessly torturing someone to get the information he needs, or killing people who attempt to stand in the way of his mission.   Despite all of this, however, Nox does not kill needlessly or partake in acts of wanton cruelty or violence. Every action has a reason behind it. If a person gives Nox no reason to kill them, they’re completely safe. In fact, despite his evil actions, Nox is quite possibly someone that could get along with a Good or otherwise benevolent individual. The biggest difference, however, is in their execution of their goals… ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Biography ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Kuro Muko was an average Ionian boy in a village near the coast. He learned how to farm, and was fairly well-practiced in the martial arts and swordplay. His life was one of peaceful days tending to crops, or being trained in the traditional beliefs of Balance and martial prowess. However, all of that changed the day Noxus invaded the peaceful island nation. Pirate mercenaries from Bilgewater sailed into the small village and raided it, decimating houses and burning the entire place to the ground, rounding up the villagers and taking them to a seaside cave for questioning. Worse, young Kuro saw his family ruthlessly tortured before his very eyes, and saw his younger sister brutally raped and murdered while the thugs laughed at his cries and beat him mercilessly. Before Kuro himself could be killed, the leader of the pirates halted it, opting to leave the boy alive as a witness to tell the tale of the horrors that had happened.   Beaten, battered, and completely broken both in body and spirit, the young Kuro cried out to the blackness and death around him, asking someone, anyone to help him. The shadows themselves took pity upon the boy, and blessed him with their power. He willingly gave himself over to the shadows, and when the boy emerged from the cave, he had changed. His eyes, once kind and gentle, had been blackened to a dark violet hue by the energy of the shadows. His whole purpose, his meaning for being, was to bring his new-found power to bear upon those that had destroyed everything he knew and had ever loved. Using the skills he had learned to track and hunt animals in Ionia’s vast wilderness, he followed the trail of destruction that the pirates had left in their wake, eventually finding them.   Among the ruins of yet another village, the young Kuro, now calling himself Noctis Shadowborne, killed and destroyed all that remained of the pirates on the shore, but as his eyes scanned for others, they fell upon a rowboat heading through the seas toward a large vessel. At that moment, Kuro vowed to hunt down every last pirate that had wronged him and his family. After several years, he finally succeeded, but his mission of revenge had made him cold and hardened. All he knew anymore was how to kill, and thus, his mission in life became clear. Now, Kuro Muko, under his chosen name of Noctis “Nox” Shadowborne, stalks the dark alleyways of Runeterra’s darker cities, hunting and slaying those that would seek to repeat the actions of those that had harmed him.   “For those whose hearts are truly dark, the shadows are no place to hide…” - Noctis Shadowborne
