>Falling. >Wind shrieking in your ear, almost as if it's screaming. >Eyes closed tight, this sensation is too much to bear. >Sudden impact, you black out. >Later you awake, eyes still shut. >Dull but consistent pain, throat sore, maybe you did hear screaming, your own. >Dizzy and slightly nauseous you decide to wait a while to get your bearings. >After some time you feel something poking you softly in the side. >You turn and slowly open your eyes to see...         >...A bright glare, you quickly shut your eyes again. >You looked directly into the sun. >You hear a light gasp when you move. >"H-hello?" >The voice comes from a bit further behind you than you expected, whoever tapped you must have jumped back when you began to turn >"Are you ok?" >After a few grunts and some effort you turn from one side to the other, now facing the direction of the voice. >This time you open your eyes a bit more slowly and let your eyes adjust. In front of you is standing a... horse? >No, too small.. pony? A pony is standing in front of you. >It has a blonde mane, it's body is light greyish-bluish. Blue? Maybe your eyes haven't adjusted fully yet >Where did that voice come from?         >You try to move your left arm but a sharp pain stops you. >You grit your teeth to keep from screaming in pain, your throat is sore enough as it is. >As you lay there, immobile, you manage to see the little pony take off in the opposite direction. >You must have made some noise that scared it off. >After some time the pain subsides enough to think properly again. >This time you check yourself over, moving parts of your body slowly to see if anything else is damaged. >Turns out your left arm has been mangled, not just broken but bones sticking out, your right ankle is sensitive, however you don't believe it's broken. >Your left foot on the other hand may be fractured or worse, you won't know until you can get it checked out. "He-" >You try to speak but begin coughing instead. >Again you try to speak. "Hello?" >You manage to say roughly. "Is anyone there?" >Opening your eyes you look around, hoping somebody was near. >That pony is back, this time with a wheelbarrow >It looks like she's pushing it towards you.         >As there's noone else around and you're starting to feel light headed you begin talking to this horse thing. "S-silly pony, you can't use that, you're a pony." >She stops and looks at you, as if she understood what you said. >"Well that's not true, I've been able to push a wheelbarrow since I was a filly." >Holy shit it talked. >It had the same voice from earlier, and it was female. >In your silent freak out over a talking pony, she begins to push the wheelbarrow towards you again. >Once in front of you she stops for a second with a confused look on her face. >After a short pause she apparently makes up her mind. >She bends down and grabs your shirt with her mouth and tries to pull you up. >Of course the movement hurts, but it could be worse. >She's having trouble lifting you up, which is to be expected from something so small.         >You try to help lift yourself up, pain shooting up your leg. >You deal with it though and somehow manage to get yourself in a standing position with this pony's help. >While standing you get a better look at her and can't help but notice she has wings. >After being put in the extremely uncomfortable wheelbarrow, you decide now would be a good time to question this pony. "Where exactly do you intend to take me?" >"Well to the hospital of course silly, where else would I take a uh... uh... weird whatever you are?" >The talking grey-blue pony with wings, thinks you're the weird one. >At least she's taking you to a hospital, now for the important question. "How the hell can you talk?" >She slows down slightly but continues to walk. >"That's not nice... I mean.. I-I know I've got these eyes... but I can talk just fine." >It appears you've insulted the nice pony that's trying to help you.         >You look at her face, she looks like she might cry. "Oh, no I'm so sorry, that's not what I meant at all." >Your throat is killing you and feel a strong urge to cough but you feel the need to apologize. "I just meant, well I've never seen a talking pony before, especially not with wings." "I don't even see anything wrong with your eyes, I actually like the color of them." >That seemed the cheer the pony up, though you can still see a bit of sadness in her, she must be teased often. >"Oh.. thank you. I just thought... Well I understand that, I've never seen whatever you are either, sorry I called you a weird whatever." >"And I'm a pegasus. >You decide you like this pegasus. >Now that you've made peace with her you become quiet and just wait for her to take you to the hospital. >It was a short trip with only a few scares of the wheelbarrow tipping over, she managed to catch it in time though. >You are now in the hospital and see a bunch of other ponies, some with wings and some even with horns.         >Maybe the talking horse should talk to the other talking horses. >She takes you to the front desk and asks the clerk if a doctor can see you. >"Young lady, this is a hospital, not a vet's office, take your... thing, over there instead." >A vet, that... actually makes sense. If roles were reversed you'd have taken her to a vet instead of a hospital. >"No, wait, he's not a pet though." >"Go on, talk, let them know you're not some animal." >You try to speak but cough instead. >Just as you're about to be shooed out you manage to speak up. "C-could I get some water?" >She seems taken aback that you actually managed to speak. >"Oh, yes of course, we've got some drinking water fountains in the hall." >A short walk, some effort on both yours and the pegasus and you've managed to quench your thirst. >She takes you to the waiting room. >"Oh, I forgot to introduce myself, I'm Derpy, what's your name?" "Anon, nice to meet you Derpy, thanks for the help." >You're taken into the doctor's office shortly.         >While waiting for the doctor to show up you take the opportunity to speak with Derpy. "Derpy, I just wanted to ask, how did you find me?" >She looks at you with a smile on her face. >"Well, it was my day off so I decided to go for a walk to give my wings a break." >"I was actually on my way to a pond I like to swim in that I found a while back." >"It's kind of out of the way, I don't know if anypony else knows about it so you're really lucky I was on my way, no telling how long you would have been there if I wasn't there." >Lucky indeed, a path that only 1 pegasus travels and only on her days off? >If it had been any other day, hell a few minutes off then you could have died in the middle of nowhere. "Thank you so much for saving my life Derpy, I'm glad it was your day off haha." >"Oh, you don't have to thank me, anypony would have done the same thing." >The doctor comes in at this point, looking at a clipboard. >"So, who are we here for and what's the problem?" >You're in a wheelbarrow still, the clerk or nurse or someone should have obviously seen what condition you were in. >You wonder how credible this facility is. >"Doctor, my friend Anon here got hurt pretty bad, can you fix him?" >"Well, we'll see what I can do, shouldn't be-Oh my god what is that thing?!" >He finally decided to look up from his clipboard and realized you were not a pony. >He must not get too many humans with bones sticking out come to him.         "Holy shit, a talking horse!" >The doctor backs up a bit at your voice. "That's what you sounded like." "I'm Anon, I'm a human, and I hurt like hell." >Obviously stunned the doctor says nothing. "Can you help me or not?" >Some doctor. >"R-right." >"I'm sorry, that was terribly unprofessional of me, please accept my apologies." "It's fine, I'm just in a lot pain, though my arm feels kind numb by now." >He takes a better look at you and realizes you have bones sticking out of your arm. >"We need to take you in for surgery right away and set the bones back to..." "What?" >"I uh... I'm not entirely sure how your bones are supposed to be.. I.. I don't know if I can help you." >Shit, of course, he's never seen a human before, he can't know how human bones are supposed to look. >Let's hope an average education in human biology will help. >After a very brief description of how the bones in your arm the doctor agrees to try his best. >I'm not making any promises though... maybe if we had a unicorn doctor here they could use magic or something." >Magic? >Before you can ask they take you to the emergency room. >"We'll just work with what we've got."         "Hey, doctor?" >You're still making your way to the ER when you had an idea. >"Yes Anon?" "You have x-rays right? Just take an x-ray of the parts that aren't broken and fix the other side up like that." >Sudden realization on the doctors face. >"R-right, of course, yes I uh, planned on doing just that, I just didn't want to uh, get your hopes up in case of, you know things happen." >You need to remember to ask him if you can see his medical license later, but for now he's all you've got. >Derpy's been by your side the whole time, they tried telling her to wait in the waiting room but she insisted on coming with you. >You agreed of course. >Some nurses helped you up on the examination table and set up the x-ray machine. >A few pictures later and they've got what they need. "Hey.. before you go pulling on my bones.. do you think I could get some pain killers here?" "Strong ones preferably." >"Yes, yes, of course, they're uh, on the way, I need a moment to study these x-rays anyway." >As he walks away he pulls a nurse aside, whispers something and she takes off. >Seriously what is wrong with this guy? >A few minutes later the nurse returns with a needle and some kind of liquid. >She fills a needle, injects you with it and sets everything aside. >You look at the bottle to see what the hell she just gave you. >Ketamine. >A strong dose of it.         >A strong dose is exactly what you needed. >Better prepare for the trip though. >The pain practically disappeared altogether, except for a dull ache. >Before the drug fully took effect you thought you'd make sure the doctor really knew what he was doing. "Beep beep doctor." >That'll get his attention. >Before you can say anything else you black out. >You dream of an odd winged pony urging you to keep chasing after a dragon you can't see. >Running feels like walking slowly in molasses, struggling to get one foot in front of the other. >Before long you feel a sharp crack on your head. >You wake up with a dry mouth, a pounding headache and your body aching. >It sounds likes someone's speaking but the headache makes it too painful to really pay attention. >Finally you can't take it anymore and decide to get up and look for some ibuprofen or something. >You get up, and promptly fall on your ass. >Opening your eyes you see Derpy trying to help you to your feet and you remember where you are. "I thought you were apart of the trip." >Your speech was slurred.         >"Get back to bed Anon, you need to rest" >Thankfully you didn't need to strain yourself as 2 nurses came to help pick you up and put you back in the hospital bed. "Thanks." >After getting settled back into bed you check yourself over. >Left arm and foot are in casts and your right foot is in a brace. >The ketamine has worn off now and the pain is back. >Again Derpy is by your side so you speak to her. "Hey, Derpy, can you ask the doctor if they've got hydrocodone?" "I'm still hurting pretty badly... what they gave me isn't very good to use again on humans." >"Oh no, are you going to be ok?" >She genuinely looks worried. "Yeah, I'll be fine.. just could use some proper medication." >She leaves to get the doctor and returns quickly. >Soon the doctor appears with a question on his face. >"Anon... are you sure hydrocodone is what you need?" >"This is a very hard drug that can cause a lot of problems you know." "For humans, doctor, ketamine is worse, it's usually used to knock people out, not for pain." >"Ah, I see then... ok, I'll uh, just trust that you know about what humans need.." >Bottle of pain pills acquired.         "Can I have some water so I can take this? And some food too, just whatever's around should be good enough." >"Yes, we'll get right on that sir." >The doctor leaves and puts in the order for your food and water. >You turn to Derpy now so the two of you can talk. "How long was I out?" >"You were out for a while Anon.. I think maybe, 5 hours or so." >"Ponies aren't usually out that long... then again I've never seen anypony get that large of a dose." "Just 5 hours?" "That's not too bad... could be a lot worse." "What time is it?" >"It's almost 7:30 PM, it's going to get dark soon." "Ah.. don't you need to get home then? "You've already done so much staying by my side for so long, I really appreciate it, you don't have to stay any longer if you don't want to though." >"Anon, it's ok, I don't really.. I don-" >At that time the conversation was interrupted by a nurse bringing you a tray with some apples, bread, a bit of salad and a tall pitcher of water. >You immediately dig into the food, half way through you pause long enough to take a pill and a nice long drink of water.         >You lie back, eat a little more and get comfortable. "So, Derpy, what's your home like?" "How far is it from here?" >"It's not that far from here." >"It's uh, it's really nothing special.. I'd rather stay here, make sure you're going to be ok. "Are you sure Derpy?" "I'll be ok on my own.. Not that I wouldn't appreciate the company." >"Yeah, I.. I don't really have anyone to get back to anyway so it's alright if I don't go back home tonight." >She seems uncomfortable talking about her home life, maybe it's a good idea to change the subject. "Oh, I'm sorry, well I appreciate you keeping me company then." "What the town we're in, what's it called?" >"We're in Ponyville, one of the best places to live." >"There's a lot to do here, some good shops, and there's always something going on." >"Sometimes it keeps a bit crazy.. but I like it here." "Looks like I crashed in the place then haha." >You take another bite and drink some more water. >The effects of the pain pill is kicking in and you're feeling much better and relaxed.           "How big is Ponyville?" >"It's a pretty big place at times, but sometimes it can feel pretty small too.. Weird now that I think about it." >That.. told you nothing. "Ah.. well, you mentioned something about crazy stuff happening." "Do I fall into the crazy stuff?" >"I don't usually find horribly broken humans if that's what you mean, but you're far from the strangest thing to happen." >"We have all kinds of things happening, like one time, a three headed dog just came in out of nowhere, I heard somepony took care of it quickly though.. can't remember who. >"Then there was this time that black vines covered all of Ponyville, that lasted a while, it made cleaning outside hard cause they just kept growing and growing. >"Oh, oh but also, another time, it rained chocolate milk, that was the best day ever. >What the fuck did you just get yourself into. >Either 1, you ended up being rescued by a nutjob or 2, you landed in the craziest place you couldn't have thought up even on drugs. >She doesn't seem crazy.. actually she's been pretty level headed about everything so far. "Sounds like one hell of a place to live.. Would you show me around a bit after I can leave?" >"Of course Anon, I'd be happy to give you the tour." >Now it's just a matter of how long will you be here, and will you leave in a wheelchair or crutches.         "Derpy... I don't know where I'm supposed to go when I get out of here." >"W-what?" "I don't know how to get home, or if I even can.." "See, where I'm from, there's no talking ponies or pegasi or anything, just more humans." "I don't know why or how, but... I think I've made it to a completely different world and I don't have any place of my own here." >"Oh.. Anon, I'm so sorry.." >"I.." >She seems sad and unsure of what she's trying to say. >"Anon, I uh.. don't have much, but if you need some place to stay.. you're welcome to stay at my place for as long as you need." "Are you serious?" "But, I'm practically a stranger to you." "You know my name... that I'm a human, and from a different world but... that's all." "How could you open your home to me so quickly?" >"I know something else about you Anon, you're nice, and I like that." >"Maybe we are strangers.. but I can tell that you're nice and that's good enough for me." >You just can't see how that would be enough for someone to let you into their home when they've only just met you. >Still though, you're not exactly in a position to deny the hospitality, after all it's either that or find yourself a cardboard box and a decent enough looking alleyway. "If you're serious about this, I can't thank you enough." "You saved my life, and now you're offering your home to me, I promise I'll pay you back for all of this some how." >"Don't worry about it Anon, I'm not doing this to be paid back, I just want to help."         "Derpy, come here." >She walks over to you, smiling. >You give her the best hug you can manage with only your right arm to work with. >She returns the hug full force, being careful of your left side of course. "You're the nicest person, pony, anything, that I've ever met Derpy." "I can't believe my luck, thank you again, really." >At this point the two of you break the hug. >Her face is a bit flushed, which you find adorable. >"It's no problem, really, I just want to help." >"Thank you for saying that though, it means a lot that you think that." >You've got a feeling the two of you are going to good friends for a long time. "When I get out of these casts I'm going to do everything I can to pay you back, I promise." "And I'm not going to take no for an answer, you'll have to break my legs to stop me haha." >"But, I already told you, I don't care if you do anything in return." "Too late, can't stop me, I'm doin it." >A bit flustered she finally accepts it. >It's getting a bit late now and you're starting to feel a bit tired. >Wait, where is Derpy going to sleep?
