>It has been a trying month, to say the least >Helping Twilight around the library and picking up on the chores that she can't do >Making sure Spike had the library running smoothly >Twilight even woke up with nightmares sometimes >She would insist that you sleep in the bed with her even though you offered to take the floor >And everytime she would wake up nuzzled against you >You always liked how radiant she looked when the sun came in through the window and shined on her >So you would usually wait for her to wake up before getting out of bed   >Progress had been slow at first but now shes starting to get the hang of things >You could finally move her arm without too much discomfort >“More stiff than painful.” She would describe it >With that you told her that you should try to get her to start walking >But baby-steps first >She was excited with her progress and couldn't wait to have things finally return to normal   >Your alarm buzzed you awake >Today was one of the few days that Twilight didn't wake you up complaining of a nightmare >So looks like you don't get to sleep in >Stretching, you prepare for the next step in Twilight's recovery   >You prepare a pot of coffee and let it sit as you go upstairs to retrieve Twilight >Knocking on the door lightly you wait for a response from the other side >Nothing >You turn the knob and slowly push the door open >Twilight is still blissfully asleep, cuddled up next to a pillow >How cute >You slowly make your way over to her when you hear her mumble something >“...Anon...Mmmm...” “Twi?” You whisper. >“Anon... Oh, just like... that...” She mumbles out again >You didn't know that Twilight talked in her sleep, at least she never did those nights when she wanted you to sleep next to her >You continue tip-toeing to her as she unconsciously talks again >“I love you too... Anon...” >You stop dead in your tracks >Did Twilight just say that she loved you? >Even after what you did to her? >What could she possibly be dreaming about? >You manage to think of a few scenarios, a light blush creeping on your face >While it was true that when you first got here you never thought about ponies like that >But after so long... >You were slowly starting to warm up to the idea >More specifically Twilight >You did enjoy the time that the two of you have spent together >And you always did get the best sleep when she wanted you to sleep with her because of the nightmares >Or when she wanted your help bathing... >You stop your train of thought as your face gets warmer You carefully shake Twilight, “Twi, come on it's time to get up.” >Twilight groans as she wraps the blanket over her head, “Just five more minutes” “Aw no, I'm not falling for that one again. Five minutes turned into twenty last time.” You tease as you start to move the chair closer to her bed >Twilight sighs as she flings the covers off of her with magic >“Alright fine.” She scoots closer to you so you can pick her up, “I was having the best dream too.”   >You can't help but grin slightly at her remark >After you help her downstairs and the both of you have breakfast, its time to begin >“So whats the plan for today?” Twilight asks >You set her in front of the sofa as you take a seat “We're gonna try to get you to stand up on your own today, then depending on how that goes we might try walking.” >Twilight's face radiates excitement >Probably ready to get her life back >Well no point in delaying >You stand and pick her up, placing her on the floor “Alright, try to stand up.” >She slowly starts to rise You catch yourself, “But not too fast, only put a little pressure on it, then more if you're comfortable.” >Twilight rolls her eyes, “I'm not a baby Anon. I think I can stop doing something if it's causing me pain.” >You raise your hands in mock defeat as you watch the purple mare try to stand   >She places her good foreleg on the ground and stands up, slightly lifting the injured above >Her faces contorts slightly as she places her bad leg next to the other >A sharp gasp escapes from Twilight as she places even more weight on it >You begin to open your mouth to caution her but you shut it, remembering her words >You, do however, move in front of her and squat down, ready to catch her in case she falls >A silent minute passes as you watch Twilight's shoulder begin to slump, a sign that shes putting all of her weight on it >Seconds later she happily proclaims, “There! I did it! It doesn't hurt that much.” >A smile creeps on your face >You knew if anyone could do it it would be Twilight >Thats one of the things you always admired about her, her can-do attitude >“Let's try walking Anon.” Twilight interrupts your thought You hesitate, “I don't know Twi, walking and standing are two totally different things.” >Twilight looks at you with pleading eyes, like a child asking its mother for a toy, “Please, Anon. I'll be careful.” >You couldn't say no to that face >And you suppose it didn't really matter, seeing as how it was her body and she would probably try it anyways even if you said no You sigh, “Nothing ventured, nothing gained I suppose.” >Twilight squees with excitement while you move to her left side, just in case “Alright, just start whenever you feel like it.” You hold your arms out close to her, ready to catch >She begins walking much like she did standing, slowly and calculating every step >First her bad and her alternate back leg goes forward and stops on the floor >So far so good >Then she goes to move lift the other two... >She gasps as she falls down on top of you >Guess it was too much pressure for just two legs to hold her up >Silence fills the room as you lie there with Twilight on top of you >She buries her head in your shirt like she had done many times before >After a few seconds you begin to feel something wet on your shirt >You lift Twilight's head up to reveal her crying softly >She doesn't look you in the eyes, “I thought for sure I could...” She trails off You run your fingers through her mane, “It's okay, it's just gonna take a little more time is all.” >Twilight shakes her head slightly, “No, no I'm never going to get the hang of this. I'll never be able to walk again. I'm going to have to have you carry me around everywhere I want to go...” >She continues to talk but you don't listen >You don't want to listen to how she's giving up >So you decide that if she wasn't going to stop talking that you were going to make her stop >You bend forward and kiss her softly on the lips, stopping her mid-sentence
