For the KSG Writing Week - Day 5, Hanako          Shenanigans          A KSG anon asked for something similar to this a while back, so I figured I'd flesh it out for the contest.           We were doomed the moment Lilly pulled out the second bottle, and the third didn’t do much to help things. Akira had brought three of them back from a business trip, as a special surprise, with specific instructions for them to be consumed “with restraint”. Well, such is teenage restraint. Things began to go downhill quickly; my words began to slur, Lilly became giggly and disoriented, and Hanako couldn’t decide between staring at me or her fingers. After an indeterminate period of unabashed revelry, Lilly stood up (a tad shakily) from her bed.         “Mmm, my my, it seems I need to go to the powder room. Excuse me…” With a giggle, Lilly staggered out of the room and towards the toilet. Now, for the first time that night, Hanako and I were alone. I was the first to become aware of it; there’s not much like the rush of a teenage boy finding himself alone in a room with a girl. This is also where my recollection of the night starts to get a bit spotty. In any case, it wasn’t long before we were talking. About what, I have no idea, but it did seem very engaging at the time. Soon, Hanako was leaning over and whispering conspiratorially in my ear. The feeling of her hot breath rushing my cheek against was more than enough to engage my rapt… attention, and I listened intently.         “W-we should take a walk!” Hanako managed to murmur in my ear after several attempts.         “Are you sure? We’re drunk, and it’s way past curfew,” is what I should have said.           “Heh. Sure,” is what I did. Things get a bit fuzzy at this point.               “You are being very disruptive,” said Rin, as she leaned her body out of bed. We had turned on the light, mainly so we could get a better look at the paint bottles we were playing with.         “I-is this where you paint, Tezuka?” Hanako turned a bottle of a faint off-red over and over in her hands. Rin got out of her bed.         “Please go,” said Rin. I floated over to Rin and put my arm around her, buddy style.         “Rin… Rin… we’re friends, right?”         “Not at 2 in the morning, Hisao. Please go.” After a moment she began to kick me repeatedly, though not hard enough for my ethanol addled mind to register. At this point my memory gets hazy again. Hanako mentioned something about how pretty a picture was, and the next thing I remember we were outside.         I don’t have any idea how we avoided the guards, considering it was far enough past curfew for us to get in serious trouble. It was pretty cold, and we didn’t have coats, so Hanako had wrapped one of her arms around me and pressed close. At the time, this seemed a perfectly rational thing for her to do, but thinking back the alcohol must have seriously lowered her inhibitions. Eventually, the walk gave way to a sit, and we made ourselves comfortable on a bench. I looked hazily up at the clear sky, picking out constellations I recognized.         “The sky is really pretty tonight,” I murmured.         “W-what is really pretty?” Hanako asked, almost in a panic.         “Hmm?” I asked cautiously. “The sky. You can see a lot of stars.”         “O-oh…” Hanako whispered, after a sigh. We made a little more small talk, and then I think we walked around the track for a while. Events after that point are pretty much black.                 The next morning was one that experts might call “horrendous”.  In terms of sheer agony, the headache was the worst contender, but it’s never a pleasant experience to wake up and have no fathoming of how you got there. The memories from the night before still hadn’t quite registered in my mind, so I was in a state of confusion. I found myself leaning against Lilly’s chair, which had previously been knocked over and was resting on the floor. Hanako was similarly draped, though in this case I noticed she was lying across my lap. After waiting for my heart-rate to return to normal, I carefully extricated myself from underneath my adorable captor and tried to get my bearings. Lilly’s room was a disaster area. Aside from the knocked over chair, the sheets had been pulled of the bed, two empty wine bottles sat on the floor, and various small accoutrements lay scattered about. Lilly was nowhere to be found. I gently nudged the sleeping Hanako awake.         “Oh… Hisao?” She tried to sit up, but the hangover quickly knocked her back down again. “What happened?” I helped her get to her feet.         “I guess we drank a bit too much last night. This place is a mess. Lilly won’t be happy.” Hanako gasped.         “L-lilly? Where is Lilly?” she asked with no small degree of panic. I scratched my head.         “Didn’t she go to the bathroom last night? I don’t remember her coming back.”         “We h-have to find her, Hisao!” After taking a few quick steps towards the door, Hanako stopped again and held her head in her hands. “I… I don’t feel good, Hisao.” I took her by the shoulders and sat her down on the bed.         “You wait here and rest your head. I’ll go check the bathroom for Lilly. I’ll get us some water too, okay?” Hanako nodded. Finding two empty glasses, I put the sheets back on Lilly’s bed, gave Hanako one last smile and then opened Lilly’s door. After checking the hallway for any passers-by (a boy being spotted entering the girls’ bathroom was an offense at any hour of the day) I walked down the short hallway to the floor’s toilet.         “Lilly?” I called out softly. No one answered, so I began a manual search. With no small degree of awkwardness, I proceeded to check the girls’ toilet and shower stalls, to no avail. Finally, within the last one, I found her. She was sleeping soundly with a sweet smile on her face, leaning against the wall of the shower stall. Still clad in her black pajamas, she was cradling the third bottle of wine like an infant, now totally empty. I breathed a sigh of relief; we’d all survived the night. I decided it was probably best to let her finish sleeping, so I headed back to Lilly’s room. Hanako had already gotten comfortable in the bed, wrapped in the sheets and with a stack of pillows under her head. I wasn’t sure if she was asleep or not, so I settled on simply watching quietly. However, she spoke a moment later.         “Hisao…” she said quietly. “Thanks. I h-had a lot of fun last night.” I smiled.         “Me too, Hanako. It was really great.” That’s when I noticed what she was holding; what appeared to be a white-blue cloth strip. “Uh, Hanako?” I asked, gesturing the object clutched in her hand. “What’s that?” She sleepily opened her eyes and unraveled the item she was holding, revealing a pair of blue and white striped panties. I could hardly contain my surprise as Hanako’s face began to turn crimson.  “Are… are those Rin’s?” I asked, disbelief coursing from my mouth. Hanako gave a small shriek and dropped the underwear on the floor, standing up afterwards.         “I…I….IVEGOTTAGODOSOMETHING!” she cried, bolting out of Lilly’s room and across the hall, opening and closing the door to her own room with record speed, and leaving me standing alone in a girl’s room with a pair of panties at my feet. An enviable situation, perhaps, for most boys, but not in my specific case.  With a sigh, I checked my watch. It was almost noon. Thankfully, it was a Sunday, so there weren’t any classes, but my grumbling stomach soon told me of other duties. And so, hungry, hungover, and confused, I left the girls’ dorm, head still spinning over the events of a night I would probably never understand.
