SA November 5th, 2014   Reflection 3           The volunteering I am doing is not necessarily with an organization. Instead, it’s with a public school that holds afterschool programs. It’s more of a recess in which volunteers get involved with kids by playing board games, playing outside, or helping them build things with Lincoln Logs or Legos. It is very similar to a Big Brother type of program in which volunteers act as positive role models for young children. Most of the students we work with come form single family homes or live in poverty.         An audience I would focus the speech for would be young adults, because they make good role models for children growing up in a tough situation. A more specific audience I would choose would be people that enjoy spending time with children and those that want to be future educators. For example, many of the volunteers are young adults that aspire to be teachers or working at a day care center. Some things I would do in order to make my speech more relatable would be to talk about the experience of working with the kids as being very similar to babysitting a younger sibling.
