Backstory:
From the subsistence farms of the human continent, Ariya grew up being attacked. Constantly, her family's farms and others were under siege by greedy raiders and bandits, who would rather steal their food than grow their own. They never had enough money to defend themselves well, but she got good with a short sword for up close and personal work. She also learned to communicate with the other farmers, who often would rather stay to themselves. They had an uneasy commune-like alliance before she left to go to the other regions and get an education. The crossbow came from a small shop that she passed on the way, along with twenty hunting bolts. She has yet to use it in combat.
