An "old" story that I never uploaded to pastebin because I didn't like it, hopefully -you- will.   >"How in the world did I manage to get myself wrapped into this?", Twilight Sparkle thought to herself >The dark, gloomy forest stretched on before her, seemingly to no end. >Her flashlight shone brightly, piercing into the thick black, her only shield against the encroaching shadows. >The human contraption was hard to handle with mere hooves; thank Celestia for levitation magic. >Twilight reminded herself of why she was here. >The pages. >She had to find the pages, all eight of them. >That was what Anon had told her. >The night's eerie silence was broken by her hoofsteps as she braved deeper into the murky woods. >Vegetation was unnervingly sparse, except for the thick, sturdy trees all around her, reaching up into the sky, blocking out the moonlight. >Save the crunching of grass underneath her hooves, the only other sound was the gentle rustling of the wind. >A chill went down her spine. >Something was severely wrong with this place. >She'd seen the darkest recesses of the Everfree forest before, but this was something in a league of it's own. >The darkness around her was oppressive, it felt as if it was closing in, trying to consume her. >She tried not to think about it too much. >She had to be brave, for Anon. >Anon. >He had thought she would be too scared for this. >He was going to ask Rainbow Dash in her stead...   >But this would show him, she thought. >Show him that she's every bit as brave as Rainbow Dash. >She shone her torch at the massive trunks infront of her, keeping her eyes open for any pages. >She'd get all eight pages and Anon would be proud of her. >The prospect of overshining Rainbow Dash in Anon's eyes made her feel warm and funny inside. >Well-motivated, she picked up her pace. >Just past the next bunch of trees, she comes upon an area with some rocky outcroppings. >Intrigued by the diversity of scenery, she quickly moved closer. >To her gleeful surprise, as she circled around the back of the rocks, she found a paper stuck a side of stone. >The haggard looking papper, was cover in frantically scribbled text. >"DON'T LOOK... OR IT TAKES YOU" >Twilight swallowed hard as the foreboding words stared up at her. >She chuckled nervously, thinking she had best get a move on. >The sooner she found all the pages, the sooner she could be out of here. >Leaving the rocks behind her, Twilight set out once again through the maze of trees. >Moving quickly, she passed by tree after tree. >With the sky hidden from sight, and without any landmarks, she had no good way to navigate her course. >Everything looked the same. >She felt so lost. >Twilight steeled herself; she couldn't let fear get a grip of her. >The only thing she could do was to keep moving, she'd find her way eventually... She hoped.   >A few worried moments later, a large silo rose up from a small clearing ahead of her. >Just as she had thought, she finds another page on the side of the rundown silo. >She's chilled to her core as her eyes wanders the crude scribblings: >"ALWAYS WATCHES -- NO EYES" >The wind suddenly seems to pick up in speed. >Standing stil, listening to the wind, she could swear she hears a low rumble off in the distant dark. >A rumble that wasn't there before. >Was her imagination playing tricks on her? >What was it Pinkie always said? >Giggle at the ghosties? >Twilight forced a smile and a giggle. "Hi-hi..." "I'm not scared." >She reprimanded herself; she didn't sound very convincing. >No going back now, Twilight. >Just keep moving, she told herself. >And so she did. >Moving much faster now, she raced through the woods.   >"CAN'T RUN." >"HELP ME" >Running blindly through the woods, Twilight had come across a towering, dead tree and a crumbled section of brick wall, both locations hiding another page. >She had to admit to herself that the pages didn't exacly paint a pretty picture. >She was now also certain that her surroundings changed for each page she found. >The wind was whipping harshly now and the previously distant rumble was growing closer. >She wouldn't let herself get discouraged though, she had a quest to complete. >Comming up on a fifth new landmark, an odd concrete tunnel, her legs were growing tired and her breath was hard and heavy.   >As expected, she found her fifth page on the inside walls of the tunnel. >Twilight sighed with relief, only three more pages to find now. >She pulled the page off the wall to inspect it further. >It was a crude drawing of a weird stickfigure, looking like a tall human, standing among some trees accompanied by a single word of warning, "FOLLOWS". >As soon as her eyes wandered over the letters, she heard the sound of grass crunching just outside the tunnel. >She froze in fear. >Someone was outside. >Someone who had been following her. >Twilight gasped with realization. >She understood what the pages meant. >"ALWAYS WATCHES -- NO EYES" >"DON'T LOOK... OR IT TAKES YOU" >"CAN'T RUN" >"FOLLOWS" >"HELP ME" >The pages were warning her. >Warning her of the shadowy figure now silhouetted against the entrance of the tunnel. >It looked like a human of mismatched proportions; far too tall and far too slim. >The creature, whatever it was, stood perfectly still, watching her. >She began backing away slowly, towards the other exit of the tunnel. >Her hunter remained stationary. >Twilight threw a quick look over her shoulder, checking that the exit was still clear. >As she turned back to the creature her eyes went wide with fright. >It was closer now. >Much closer. >She felt a surge of fear unlike anything she'd experienced before. >Run. >Adrenaline pumped through her, hampering her thought process down to the single word: >Run! Run! Run! Run!   >Galloping faster than she thought herself possible, she flew out the tunnel and dashed through the dark trees. >Without ever looking back, she ran as fast and as far as her legs carried her. >Eventually, when the adrenaline faded away, she stopped to catch her breath. >Her legs aching and her breath haggard, she shone her torch back down the way she had come from. >She sighed with relief; her predator was no longer in sight. >Twilight had a look around, trying to regain her bearings. >Her surroundings looked just as the rest of the woods had, dark and devoid of anything but short grass and thick trees. >Where was she? >Where should she go? >Should she try to find the rest of the pages or would it be best to just get out of here? >On that thought, where exacly was "out of here"? >Everthing looked the same and her torch was only able to pierce a short distance into the dark. >She could be a mere few feet away from the edge of the forest and she wouldn't even be able to tell. >Should she just start moving? >What if she ended up walking deeper into the woods? >She could end up wandering around for hours, if not days. >And with that... Thing out there, she wouldn't want to stick around for long. >Come to think of it, what sort of creature was that anyway? >Twilight had certainly never heard of anything like it before, despite considering herself modestly well-read. >Well, hopefully she wouldn't have to find out... >*CRUNCH*   >The sound of grass being rustled behind her made Twilight go stiff. >Was it just the wind, or was it... >Only one way to find out. >She swallowed hard as she began to slowly turn around. >She was both relieved and apprehensive as she turned around and found nothing. >Maybe it was just the wind after all? >Deciding it best to start moving, she turns back again and is greeted by a familiar figure. >Right before her, mere inches away -It- stands. >A black suit towering over her, leading up to the white, featureless head. >The creatures long arms slowly extend towards her as shadowy tendrils spew forth from it's back. >Twilight graps in agony as loud static noises ring in her ears. >Her muscles clench as her whole body convulses under the scrutiny of the creature. >She collapes in a heap on the ground, the creatures arms growing ever closer. >Her vision starts to blur as the shadow descends upon her. >Then... >Game over.   >"Pages: 5/8" >"Click to continue" >Your chortling laughter echoes throughout the library. >Twilight looks up at you with a scowl. >Twi: "T-that was not funny, Anon." >You can't stop laughing. >She had been so tense, yet so determined during the playthrough, appearing completely emerged into the game. >Guess ponies need som getting used to with vidya games. "It actually was kinda funny." >You help her get up from the floor; she had fallen out of her chair when Slenderman got her. >She chuckles light-heartedly. >Twi: "Okay, maybe a little bit funny." >She shoots you another frown. >Twi: "But you could have warned me." >You swoop an arm around her, pulling her close. "And miss out on -this- reaction?" >You smile at her. "Yeah, I don't think so." >She smiles back at you, nervously. >Twi: "Well... Uhmm.. Did I do good?" "You did great Twi" "Why, I don't think there's another pony in Equestria who could have done better." >With a soft giggle, her smile grows. >She's practically beaming. >Twi: "Good." >Twi: "Then it was worth it."   The End
