NeverLastStanding     1. (What drew you to creating orchestral music & recommended VST's etc?)     I enjoy orchestral music more than anything because of how many different emotions you can express.  Happy, sad, angry, indifferent, bittersweet, I feel this is a lot more difficult or perhaps impossible with other genres and I didn't want that to be a limiting factor.  As for recommended VSTs, 8Dio has a lot of good stuff if you've got the money.  Spitfire Audio has a lot of great orchestral stuff as well and it's a bit cheaper too.  Currently saving up for Albion I.     2. (How's your day?????)     It's getting better     3. (What is your favorite food?)     Pizza     4. (Is Applejack the best?)     Who?   April Dash 1. (what is your favorite pony of mane and other??)     Fluttershy for mane six, Octavia for other. 2. (which villain would you live with?Discord, Crysalis, or Nightmare Moon?)     Discord.  Probably because he's the most neutral villan. 3. (do you like pokemon?)     I liked it for a time.  My first handheld game was Pokemon Blue and my last was White. Haven't played since high school, but it was a fun game and I enjoyed with friends a lot.  I just grew out of it I guess. 4. (which orchestral song that you made is your favorite?)     Lunar Eclipse II.  The original was one of the first things I've written to completion and the chord progression is one of my favorites. 5. (who is your favorite ship of mane 6?)     I not a fan of shipping, nor do I care all that much.  FlutterDash perhaps :))))))))))))))))))))))   TCB 1. (Did you have any schooling for making music?)     Only some.  I took music theory for one semester in high school, and a couple semesters of it again in college on my final year.    I have a broad understanding of theory, but lack certain disciplines.   Soul Strings     1: (How and when did you join the MLP fandom?)     November 2011.  Some guys I knew began watching it earlier in the year, and I began seeing them all over forums I used to frequent.  Gave in and began watching one episode a week up through season 2 in 2012.     2: (Do you have any musical education (school/college/uni)?)     See TCB's question above     3. (What instruments do you play mostly? Guitars, piano, but anything else?)     I was a trumpet player throughout grade 6 through 12 but stopped in college.  I've only begun playing guitar in 2014, but I don't practice and play everyday like I should, so I'm not that great with it.  I can play piano but two-handed playing is limited.  I've had exposure to tuned percussion in band class, but nothing beyond the basics.     4. (Do you sing? And, btw, were you ever thinking about asking guest vocalists for a song or two? (tbh I'd like your stuff to stay instrumental mostly, but that's just my opinion))     I can't sing.  I've tried once before, but my voice is generally monotonous and I don't have a grasp of the fundamentals of singing.  It's just not for me honestly.  I've wanted to get some guest vocalists on my songs, but getting the money together has always been a challenge.  Really glad I got to work with ForeverFreest on Crystal Tears.  It's a lot of fun working with vocals, and I'd like to do it again given the opportunity.     5. (Typical question about equipment: instruments, software? No need to mention all the libraries/vsts/etc, just the "mane" things, I guess >_>)     Guitars: Ibanez GIO, Ibanez GSR Bass, A classical guitar I got as a gift     MIDI controller: Fatar Studio 900     DAW: FL Studio 11     Libraries: Adagietto, Cinebrass, EWQLSO (for percussion mostly), Damage, Cinestrings, Piano in Blue, EZDrummer 2, Aria Sounds Ethnic Flutes, Evolve Mutations 2, Jenifer, VOXOS, and a bunch of smaller libraries.  Too many to list, but these make up the bulk of things.     6. (Who inspire you the most? Maybe not only musical projects, but probably also drawing artists, maybe writers. Pony and non-pony of course.)     I don't often keep up with artists in the fandom, but I generally find vibrant, atmospheric pictures to be most inspiring.  Especially ones that have colorful and detailed scenery to the point where the picture can tell a story.  Shamanguli is very good at this and his art is by far the easiest to draw inspiration from.  As for music, I get a lot of inspiration from black metal, atmospheric black metal, and depressive black metal acts.  Although most music in these genres are distorted messes, there are a lot of pretty gems and there's a lot of heart and soul put into the composition.     7. (Favourite MLP episode of all seasons?)     It's very hard to pin a favorite episode of all-time, but Luna Eclipsed is one episode I fondly remember back when I was marathon-ing episodes.  It's been years since I've seen any season 1-4 episodes though.     8. (What languages do you speak? Wanna learn any?)     Only fluent in English, but I know a bit of German and Chinese, from college and high school classes.  Don't know if I have the time to learn any new languages at the moment.     9. (Have you ever travelled any far from home, other countries, other continents, other worl... Uhm... Yeah, just travelling in general. What were the most beautiful and inspiring places you've ever visited?)     The furthest I've been from home was Cancun, Mexico some number of years ago on vacation.  Haven't been out of the country since.  My family used to travel a lot, and we still kind of do, but I think the most beautiful place I've been was the Colorado Rockies in the wintertime.  Some pictures I took on my last ski trip: https://imgur.com/a/jrpl5     10. (Do you have any pets? Maybe ponies (jk, but who knows >_>)?)     I used to have a dog, a beagle, but he passed away in 2014.  Haven't had a pet since.     11. (Have you ever visited conventions (pony/non-pony)? Or are you that type of ponies, who mostly spend time sitting at home?)     I've only ever been to pony conventions.  Been going to every Bronycon since 2013, every Ciderfest since 2014, and every WhinnyCity since 2016.     12. (Is there some backstory about your OC/name? Or is it just your impersonation?)     Around four years ago, my friends and I decided to make some bad OCs in pony creator, and I decided to make the most bland one I could think of.  For some reason or another, it stuck with me.  I suppose blandness does fit my personality.  "Frozen Raine" was my old username I used everywhere because I love snow and winter and I wanted a name that sounded pretty.  The 'e' at the end is because every time I tried signing up on a website, "Frozen Rain" was always taken.     13. (Are you interested in MLP fanfiction and books in general? Have you ever tried to write a fanfic (and then make music about it)?)     Not particularly.  The only two pieces of fanfiction I've ever read were Rainbow Factory and University Days.  I'm not really a writer, and I've struggled with lyrics.     14. (What are your favorite black metal projects? What do you prefer, TRVE KVLT norwegian or swedish or US black metal or any others bands who mix bm with other genres?)     It's a mixture of both, though I have more Scandinavian black metal bands in my favorites than US.  I prefer the atmospheric, ambient, symphonic, and beautiful-sounding black metal than any other genre.  Some of my favorite black metal acts include: Wedard, Onirism, Born an Abomination, Sadness, Pensees Nocturnes, Dreariness, From The Sunset, Forest and Grief..., Evilfeast, Windir, Summoning, Agalloch, Хлад, Mesarthim, Windrider, Skyforest, Gris, Wolves in The Throne Room, Araxas, Thy Light     15. (Don't eat candles. Please. (wut?))     Sage advice     16. (How's your current job going? Is it your mane income or do you get enough bits from your own music?)     It's busy and it leaves me tired a lot.  I'm an analytical chemist and it pays decently, but I generally work full-time, 40+ hours a week.  The money I get from music is a nice bonus, and I use whatever I make from it for sample libraries and other music equipment, but it is not comparable to a typical salary.     17. (What time of the day do you enjoy the most - night, morning, day, evening? Same thing with the seasons, I assume your favourite is winter, but, well, is it true?)     Night.  It is the most productive time of the day for me.  Winter is my favorite season, but I think that's obvious haha.   Jyc Row     1. (What DAW do you use?)     FL Studio 11     2. (How do you start a new project? I mean, do you start with chords, percussions, melody or something else?)     I begin with a chord progression and build from there.  I usually just fiddle around on my keyboard until I find a progression that gets the right mood of what I want out of the song.  From there, it's back and forth between melodies and percussion.     3. (What's the origin behind your pseudo?)     It was an adaptation from my older username Frozen Raine (See Soul Strings #12).  I wanted a name that complements the type of music I do and is easy to remember with no silly spellings.  It coincides with both my favorite season and favorite part of the day.   Otaku Key     1. (Favorite song from another artist like you?)     Ashen Requiem, A Dirgeful Grace by Dark Mirror Ov Tragedy     2. (Favorite song in general?)     Sons of Winter and Stars by Wintersun     3. (Do you make any sport?)     I've not participated in sports since high school, but I used to do Track & Field.     4. (Favorite movie?)     Hard to say.  Similar with songs, it's difficult to pin it down to only one choice.  Favorite live-action would be The Matrix, favorite animated would be Spirited Away.   Grace Cross     1. (What inspired you to make this Chanel in the first place?)     This channel has a bit of history. It originally began as a hub for uploading obscure Linkin Park remixes I found across the net (There's a playlist devoted to some of those remixes that survived one of the early youtube copyright purges).  I uploaded some video game remix midis from VGMusic as well but have since been deleted.  I then wanted to turn the channel into exclusively video game remixes but that didn't last long and I got copyright hit a lot.  Lastly I decided I use the channel to upload my own music.  I have some tracks that date back to 2011, but they are soundfont-tier and not that great.  This was likely the last change my channel will go through.     2. (What made u think of your name, Frozen night? Was it recommended by someone, or did u think of it yourself?)     See Jyc Row #3.     3. (Out of everything u made recently, what's ur top 5 favorites and why?)     Top 5 in no particular order: Lunar Eclipse II, The Magic of Nature, Crystal Tears, Chrysalis Metamorphosis, and Inner Light (Soon released).  These are my favorite because they mark points at which I improved my sound, got better libraries etc.  These are also the songs I felt I put in the most effort of any other and I'm proud of how they turned out, even if they're not quite there yet.   Mordecai Mapper     1. (Which pony inspire you more to do music?)     Hard to say, I've been trying to write themes for a variety of characters.  Luna is by far the easiest haha.     2. (Do you love toast?)     Only of the ExplodingPony variety.     3. (Do you listen to Drone Metal? Stuff like Sunn O))) or Earth.)     There was a time when I listed to Sun O))) actually, but not so much any more.  Drifted away from the Drone/Doom scene early in college as it wasn't helping with my mood.     4. (Which is your favorite Orchestral/Symphonic Metal band?)     Wintersun     5. (Are you going to some kind of ponycon late this year?)     I went to WhinnyCity in April, Bronycon in August, and soon will be at Ciderfest in October.  These are the only three cons I go to throughout the year mainly because two of them are ridiculously close to me.   Violet     1. (A lot of your songs are very atmospheric and/or on the long side and seem to tell a story. Do you have firm ideas of what those stories are for your songs, generally speaking, or is it as up to interpretation for you as it is for the audience?)     Yes, actually.  A lot of my songs in orchestral follow a similar trend in that they have aggressive phrases and calmer ones.  I do this to capture both sides of the emotional spectrum when writing.  Before I start a song, I find a picture that I can easily put to music and can define in a way that gives the listener a wide range of emotions.  It's a goal of mine to make my songs sound more like a journey than a moment.  I have my own interpretation as to what the story of my song is, but since music is largely subjective, I leave it up to the listener to formulate their own story.   Gladius Astrorum     1. (What inspires you, except for MLP?)     Nature-themed pictures and generally anything that gives off a pretty atmosphere.  I draw most of my inspiration from images that evoke an emotion.  I then try to write a song that compliments the picture.     2. (What do you like best about people?)     I like honest, down-to-earth people.  People who are humble and respect others of a variety of different skill sets and talents.     3. (Your favorite brony-musicians for all time?)     I don't like picking favorites because I don't want people to get the wrong idea that because I don't favorite them, I don't like their music.  But I've enjoyed music from: Radiarc, GhostXb, Elias Frost, Jyc Row, Wootmaster, L-Train, PrinceWhateverer, ExplodingPonyToast, Soul Strings, Michael Picher, A Symphony of Two, Protocat, Luck Rock, Progressive Element, ...I know I'm forgetting a few people, but these are all that came to mind.     4. (Do you like video games? If so, which ones? (Genres, franchises, etc.))     I enjoy video games every now and then.  I love the Elder Scrolls games (after they've been modded), and like-wise fantasy RPGs.  I'm a huge fan of Half Life and Portal as well.  I'm hesitant on buying new games these days as they are generally a gamble with how they turn out, and I can never justify paying the 40-60 dollar price tag.     5. (Which other hobbies do you have? What do you like to do in your spare time?)     I don't have many hobbies outside of music, to tell you the truth.  Sleeping could count as one as I do that a lot on a daily basis.     6. (Which ambient-composers do you know? You are familiar with the music of Jeremy Soule?)     I'm afraid I don't know any ambient composers or Jeremy Soule.  I'll definitely check him out though once I get the chance.
