Saturday afternoon, and I’d been forced to the student council room.  I almost made it out of the classroom when Misha and Shizune ambushed me, Shizune standing in front of me blocking the path.  'GUESS WHO SHICCHAN!  Wahaha~!' I turned and looked pleadingly at Mutou, hoping for him to intervene with something, anything.  He offered me a shrug and a slightly wider grin than usual, before turning back to his papers.  Bastard. So here I am, several hundred flyers later, staring Shizune down over a chess board. Of course, I have no chance. I'm not a particularly bad player, but a matter of minutes in and I’m finished. [...] 'Checkmate' mutters Misha, slightly subdued now.  She isn't a fan of games based purely on skill, must come from hanging around with Shizune. Shizune flashes me a triumphant smile, and then starts resetting the pieces on the board. [...] 'This time the loser pays for dinner Hicchan.  Wahaha~!' Crap.  I need a way out of this, now.  My wallet already feels lighter than normal, buying dinner for 3 wouldn’t help at all. Just at that point, a timid, hesitant knocking on the door.  My girlfriend, and now my savior, I could jump up and kiss her right now. 'Hey Hanako, what are you doing here?' 'W-well, you said y-you were coming here for a b-bit, but that was quite a w-w-while ago, so I’d thought I’d come see if you were o-okay.' She starts blushing at this, and her stuttering seems worse than normal.  The overbearing presence of Shizune and Misha combined can’t be helping her at all. 'Oh yeah, just playing some chess with Shizune.  Actually...' Can I do this to Hanako?  Will she ever forgive me?  It can’t hurt for her to widen her social circle a little.  And anyway, what’s the worst that can happen?  Actually, with Shizune, best not think about that. 'You like playing chess don’t you Hanako?  Why don’t you have a game with Shizune, I just realised I have to go take some books back to the library, don’t want Yuuko getting flustered for nothing' 'I...I...I like playing ch-chess, b-but im not v-very good' [...] 'Shicchan says she needs a new challenge, she's getting bored of beating Hicchan all the time, Wahaha~!' At this Misha has to stifle a giggle, and Shizune has a smug look on her face 'O-oh, um, I guess I can p-play then, b-but Hisao usually beats me.' [...] 'Shicchan says that's settled then!' I get up and let Hanako sit down in the chair, squeezing her shoulder for reassurance.  I bend down to give her a light kiss on the cheek, then swiftly turn around and head for the door. 'I won't be long, see you in about an hour!' I walk down the now lifeless corridors of Yamaku heading back for the dorms, after all, I do have some finished books to return to the library.  I'm enjoying the silence, and even find myself unconsciously stepping on odd coloured tiles.  Wonder where I picked that up from... ‘HEY HICCHAN!  WAAAAAIT!’ I can hear footsteps thundering down the corridor behind me.  So much for a bit of quiet time.  Misha stops alongside me, breathing heavily. ‘Hey Misha.  What are you doing here, how are Hanako and Shizune communicating?’ Misha pulls a face at that. ‘Well I’m bored of watching chess for now, games that don’t involve any luck aren’t very exciting, it’s like watching a math lesson or something.  And anyway, Shicchan and Hanako are using Shicchan’s notepad.  Soooo, I thought I’d come for a walk with Hicchan, as he managed to get away so easily, Wahaha~!’ I groan slightly, but keep walking forward.                                   http://youtu.be/8rKTgtvH8u0 An hour or so later, Misha and I head back to the student council room, me holding a can of coffee, and Misha happily drinking from a juice box. ‘I do hope they got on okay’ I mutter to myself. Hanako hadn’t texted me in need of being rescued, so as far as I’m aware she’s okay. ‘I’m sure she’s fine, Shicchan isn’t THAT scary Hicchan, Wahaha~!’ We enter the door to the student council room, to see Shizune and Hanako sitting on some desks next to each other, both drinking some drinks from a vending machine.  Shizune notices us, and writes something her notebook, which she then passes to Hanako.  Hanako covers her mouth with a hand to stifle the giggle, then hands the book back to Shizune. ‘Hey Hanako, Shizune.’ When Shizune puts the book aside to sign to Misha, I dash forward and snatch it, waving it triumphantly in the air.  I don’t expect what happens next. ‘H-Hisao!  Give that notepad back, n-now!’ If Hanako’s mock anger wasn’t enough to make me give the pad back, the pout she follows it with destroys my will, and I hand the pad back to Shizune, who snatches it with a victorious smile on her face.  Of course, Misha had signed Hanako’s outburst to her. Dear god, it had only been an hour since we left these two alone, and with a combination of Shizune’s mind and Hanako’s utter cuteness, these two could take over the world and there wouldn’t be a single complaint.  What have I created? ‘Okay then, how about we go get some dinner now Hanako?’ ‘A-actually, Shizune and I thought we could cook for all of us, then afterwards we can p-play some more chess with my new chess set.’ I sigh, and as the 4 of us head back to Hanako’s room, Hanako and I hand in hand, I notice the smile on Shizune’s face.  Maybe Hanako wasn’t the only person who needed a new friend.
