“L-Lilly?”   “Yes Hanako, do you need something?”   Lilly waits patiently while Hanako slowly enters the tea room with measured steps. She takes a seat opposite of Lilly.   “W-we need to um, talk.”   “Go ahead; you know I’m always ready to listen.”   “I-it’s about Hisao.”   Ah.   Lilly knew this would happen eventually, ever since she had told her that she and Hisao were going to be together, Hanako had been acting strangely. It’s only natural that she would want to talk this over with her.   “Y-you know that I like him, r-right?”   “Yes, I know, but-“   “And you took him from me.”   Lilly stops immediately. There was something cold in Hanako’s voice just then, something unnatural.   She continues, more slowly this time.   “Yes, and I’m sorry for doing this to you so suddenly, but Hisao and I have been feeling attracting to each other for a while, I’m sure you had seen that.”   ‘It doesn’t matter! You knew! And you did it anyway!”   “Hanako…”   “You think I didn’t know what happened during that trip?! You think I didn’t cry myself to sleep that night! You didn’t even notice, you were too busy with HIM!”   “Hanako, I’m sorry. If I had known…”   “You would’ve done what?! Stopped what you were doing?! Of course you wouldn’t! You treat me like a child! You don’t care what I feel! YOU DON’T!”   Hanako angrily slams her fists on the table. Lilly visibly flinches; Hanako has never had an outburst like this. “Please Hanako, calm down.”   “NO! Even now you’re treating me like a child! And not only that, you stole the man I loved! You stole Hisao! I-I-I….”   “I HATE YOU!”   “Hanako…”   Lilly hangs her head. She knew, of course, that she was treating Hanako like a child. But that was what she needed, wasn’t it? Hanako needed a parental figure to help her overcome her crippling shyness. She never expected her to react, to crack, like this.   “I HATE YOU, I HATE HISAO, I HATE EVERYONE!”   Sobs are coming freely from Hanako now. Lilly tries to reach out towards her voice, but she is pushed away.   “T-that’s why… that’s why…I have to do this…?”   “D-do what?”   Lilly audibly stammers. There is coldness in Hanako’s voice, more than before, something Lilly has never heard before. She can hear Hanako get up from the table.   “Yes. You took Hisao away from me. T-there’s only one way t-to get him back.”   Lilly gets up from the table and steps back from Hanako’s voice.   “Hanako? What are you doing?”   “I-If I get rid of you, then Hisao will have to come to me, r-right?”   “Hanako, please stop and think for a second-“   “NO! NOT AFTER WHAT YOU’VE DONE TO ME!”   Lilly can hear Hanako rush towards her. There is a rush of air as if something is being lifted up quickly-   “Wha-“   Both Lilly and Hanako stop dead in their tracks.   “H-Hisao?” “Hisao?”   “Hanako, what are you…?”   An audible cry comes from Hanako, something like frustration, fear, and sadness at the same time.   “H-H-Hisao, I-I-I…”   A sound comes from something metallic hitting the floor.   In a rush Hanako runs out of the room, past Hisao, out into the hallway. Hisao just looks after her.   “Lilly, are you alright?”   “I-I’ll be fine, just go stop Hanako before she does something to herself or someone else.”   “Okay.”   Hisao races out after Hanako. If she was going the way he thought she was going, he had to hurry.   The roof.   He bursts out the door, looking around for a purple haired head.   There.   She’d already climbed over the fence, about to make the jump.   “Hanako!”   She turns to him, a dead look in her eyes that makes him come to a stop.   “I-I’m s-sorry, Hisao.”   And then she jumps.   “HANAKO!”
