Title: Anon is Not Liked By Ponies (done) Author: noonpone Pastebin link: http://pastebin.com/vBgJpAXP First Edit: Saturday 21st of June 2014 11:09:34 PM CDT Last Edit: Saturday 21st of June 2014 11:09:34 PM CDT >"Hey, Anon! You're pretty cool. I hope you know this." Oh uh, thanks Rainbow Dash. >that's weird, dash isn't usually this nice to you. >come to think about it, a lot of ponies have been oddly nice to you. >sure it was nice for ponies to finally smile and chat with you instead of just run or look away but still. It was weird. >you think it might have something to do with telling Twilight that you didn't feel welcome in ponyville. >nah, she promised you she wouldn't tell anyone. >still... >you wait for rainbow to fly off and follow her, staying out of sight by hiding behind trees and bushes. >it doesn't take long for her to reach her destination; a small field where Twilight and the rest of the mane 6 are waiting around with a ball. >you crouch near some bushes and wait. >"Ugh, THERE, Twilight, I said something nice to that monkeyfriend of yours, can we play hoofball now?" >"RAINBOW! He's not a monkey!" >"okay okay, hue maan, jeez. Same thing anyway." >Twilight continues arguing with rainbow but you don't hear it. You only feel pit in your stomach forming and pulling on you. You feel tears starting to form but swallow the feeling to hold them back. >you're barely able to keep yourself crouching when you hear dash's voice again >"Can you believe that Monkey?! Sometimes I wonder if he has a crush on me or something, but then I remember that could never happen. I mean he is WAY out of my league, ha-ha!" >you feel like someone dropped a fifty pound weight in your heart. Tears were running down your cheeks and your hands were shaking >you grabbed onto your chest to try to hold it back, to make it stop hurting but it doesn't. >you had always felt a little like an outcast since coming to ponyville but you thought you at least had friends who respected you. >but now you know. Nobody respects you. Nobody likes you. Nobody cares about you.  Nobody wants anything to do with you. >you don't have any family here. No girlfriend or even friends. You're completely alone.   >the feeling in your chest is too much. You fall over onto the grass and stare up at the blue sky with tears in your eyes. >a small smile and singular laugh breaks free of your mouth. >Twilight told you she had errands to run this morning. Guess she just didn't want your disgusting presence ruining the game for her and her friends. >Friends... you thought she saw you as a friend. Thought she was being sincere when she called you her friend. >you should have known she was lying. Why would anyone want to be friends with you? >why was this happening to you? Why did this always have to happen to you? This is suppose to be a magical land of friendship! Not another reminder that nobody likes you. That at best they just tolerate you. >"Hey Applejack pass the ball!" >you hear Twilight and her friends playing and having fun. The pit in your stomach grows. >you try to stand up only for what feels like a hundred pound weight crush your chest and stop you. >"watch out Rarity!" >"oof. Be more careful darling you almost ruined my mane!" >"did anypone see where the ball went?" >you look over and see Rarity arguing with Applejack while Twilight, Dash, and Fluttershy fly around looking for the ball. >you need to leave if you don't want to get spotted. >you don't want to move. You don't want to try and stand and feel the weight against your chest. >if you stay any longer they're sure to spot you and the only thing that could make this feeling of emptiness worse would be having to face your 'friends' about it. >and yet you don't want to move. You want to lay here and watch them play and pretend that you're playing with them. Pretend that you have friends, even if just for a little longer. >Reluctantly you stand and run out of sight as quickly as you can. >you take one last look at their happy faces and smiles. >so happy that you're not there. >your chest feels like It's going to burst in on itself and you turn away and head back into town.   >as you walked through town you could see ponies whispering to each other and then smiling and waving at you. >figures, Twilight probably told everyone to be extra nice to you as a favor to her. They sure as shit wouldn't otherwise. >you make it to Twilight's castle and head up to your room. >you head over to the window and look out at the town. Everywhere you look you see the same thing. Ponies in pairs and groups talking, laughing, hanging out, having fun, and all around enjoying each other's company. >for a few moments the pit in your stomach subsides as you watch all the ponies go about their days. You feel that special spark of joy you used to get when you watched a show back on earth. >off in the distance you see Twilight and her friends emerge from the forest clearing. All of them laughing and talking. All having fun without you. Having fun because you're not there. >you back away from the window and sit on your bed. The feelings of emptiness and sadness and rage festering inside your gut. >slowly thoughts start creeping into your mind. The same thoughts that lead you to coming to equestria. The ones you thought you would never have again. >Nobody cares about you. >they would all be better off without you. >Nobody wants you around. >you should just leave. You should go away and spare everyone the trouble of having to make excuses to avoid you. >you want them to be happy don't you? Well you know exactly what would make them happy. >go get a rope or maybe a knife. Perhaps just find a nice high cliff. >everyone will be better off with you gone and if you do it right, you wont- >"Hey anon, are you alright?" >your train of thought is broken by Twilight who's now eyeing you with worried looks and a frown. >come on anon. Keep it together. If you let on that things aren't okay you'll never get the chance to do what you really need to do. I'm fine twilight. I just, I was just thinking of home don't worry. How did your errands go?   I'm fine twilight. I just, I was just thinking of home don't worry. How did your errands go? >"they went fine, I had to go pick up some books from uh, the cakes and some other ponies." >picking up books? Is that really the best she can come up with? So where are they? >"Oh uh, silly me I must have left them back in the store. You know me, always forgetting things." Oh, well I could go get them for you if you wan- >"no It's fine. I'll just ask Pinkie Pie to bring them by next time I see her." Why didn't you have Pinkie bring them to you in the first place? >she ignores your question and changes the subject. >"speaking of your world, have you figured out how you arrived here from there?" No I'm afraid not, sorry. I wish I could be more help to you with all this. >"It's fine anon but make sure you let me know if you remember anything. Have you had any more luck getting used to things around ponyville? Still feel like an outsider?" >you put on the best fake smile you can muster. It's funny you should say that, today while I was walking through town everyone seemed a lot nicer to me. I guess it just took some time for them to get used to the whole human thing. >you see a smile cover Twilight's face. >"That's wonderful anon! I told you if you keep trying eventually ponies would warm up to you." >you talk for awhile longer and eventually get her to leave. >you lay down in bed and the pit in your stomach returns. You try your best to ignore it but the same thoughts race through your head. >the literal princess of friendship has to go tell people to be nice to you, that how unlikable you are. >she makes up excuses to get away from you and hang out with her real friends and she's the closest thing you have to a friend here. >no, that can't be true. You're just overreacting. >you try to get some sleep. Tomorrow you'll prove you're just being crazy.   >that night you dream equestria, the way you thought it would go. >you dream of falling onto a grassy hill just outside ponyville. Of traveling into town and having ponies stare at you with curiosity not fear. >one of the ponies would tackle you and say hi. Maybe Lyra, maybe Pinkie, maybe just run into Twilight or Rarity who were magically floating things in front of their faces so they couldn't see you coming. >then you'd become fast friends. Pinkie would throw you a party, Rarity would make you clothes, Applejack would give you a job on her farm, and you would fall in love with- >"SPIKE! I NEED YOUR HELP GET DOWN HERE!" >"I'm coming Twilight!" >you look up at the crystal ceiling of your bedroom. Your heart is racing and you're covered in sweat. >you lay in bed until the feeling in your chest is too much and you get up and get dressed. >at least Rarity did make you clothes, even if it was as a favor to Twilight. >once downstairs you rush past Spike and Twilight arranging some books and head outside. >today you're going to prove you're beating yourself up over nothing. Today you're going to make a friend. You're going to have a good day. You'll prove to yourself that this place is different. >first though, before doing anything else you need to go see something. >you head towards sugar cube corner. >a familiar smell and ringing bell let you know that you've arrived. >inside you look around. Pinkie Pie is behind the counter and there's only cakes and pastries around. >"Oh Hey noony! Could you move out of the doorway? You're sorta taking up the whole thing." >did she just call you fat? >"No." >did she just read your mind? >"No." >you slowly walk up to her and notice that behind the counter she's talking to gummy. >"No gummy you can't do that either. Because you can't that's why." Hey um Pinkie, I was wondering if Twilight left any books here yesterday? >"hm? Oh I don't think so." Could you check for me anyway? Just to be sure?   >"sure noony but I'd be pretty weird if she left something here yesterday when she spent all day playing hoofball with the girls." >you felt your heart squeeze itself tightly. Hoofball with the girls? Sounds like fun, I wonder why I wasn't invited. >probably because they wouldn't want you playing with them. >"probably because they wouldn't want you playing with them." >you feel like your hearts about to explode. >"Your feet are too big and without wings or magic you couldn't match Applejack in strength or me in speed. They probably didn't want you to have to sit out and feel left out." >Pinkie keeps talking, making excuses, uneven numbers, you don't know the rules, etc >but you stopped paying attention after the first thing she said. >they didn't want you there. Well thanks for looking for the books Pinkie. I'm gonna go now. >"Okay noony! Have a great day!" >you head out of the shop and look around. Ponies everywhere having fun and laughing. Everyone has someone that cares about them but you. >you feel that emptiness inside you reappear. You clench your chest hoping you can make it go away but it doesn't. >no. You won't let this happen. You already left one world without friends, you weren't going to let it happen again. >you head to the park to find ponies to strike up a conversion with. If you can get one pony to chat with you, maybe agree to meet up again, then you'll be happy. >the sun was high in the sky when you headed to the park and it was near midnight when you headed home. >the longest conversation you had amounted to 'please leave me alone.' >you walked in and headed to bed. You didn't feel tired. You just didn't feel like doing anything except laying down abs never getting up. >you walked in and headed to bed. You didn't feel tired. You just didn't feel like doing anything except laying down and never getting up. >the next morning you do just that. Nobody comes to bother you. >the day after you do the same, and the only interruption you get is Spike coming in and telling you dinner is ready. >on the third day you get up to take a shower, you notice Twilight is talking with a large group downstairs. Sounds like arguing actually but you don't care. You just want to wash so you can head back to bed.   >you finish taking a shower and cover yourself with a towel. Stepping outside the bathroom you're greeted with the sight of Twilight, Applejack, Fluttershy, and Rainbow Dash. >Twilight speaks first, "Anon, we need to talk." Could this wait for me to get dressed? >Applejack spoke up before Twilight could say of course. "This'll be easier for everypony if we do it now. No sense draggin' it out." >Twilight looked at Applejack for support before turning back to you. >"I... we, think it would be for the best if you moved out of ponyville." I don't understand what do you mea- >"look anon, it's not that we don't want you here, we do. You're our friend after all but..." >she trailed off and Fluttershy took over. >"but a lot of the ponies in town don't, um, they don't feel like you belong here." Don't belong? What do you- >"they don't want you in town sugar cube. Ya just, well ya freak out a lot of em and they want you gone." >Twilight spoke up again but refused to look you in the eyes while doing so. Preferring to instead keep focused on the ground. >"I spoke to Celestia and she agreed to find you a place to stay in canterlot, but it will take some time to make the arrangements. Fluttershy, Applejack, and Rainbow Dash agreed to let you stay with them until then." Why, why can't I just stay in the castle until th- >Dash spoke for the first time. "Because nopony wants you in town." >you stand there half naked and silent unsure what to say or do. >eventually everyone except Twilight bids their farewells and leave. >"anon, I'm sorry. I promise I'll do everything I can to convince the town to give you a second chance but in the meantime I think it's for the best that you're not around." >you walk past her as she speaks to your room. You lock the door. >you sit on the floor and let the emptiness inside you take over and consume your other emotions leaving you with nothing but a feeling of dread and a pit in your stomach. >you start packing   >while you pack you decide what to do. >you could move like Twilight said. Spend a few days with Applejack or Fluttershy and then off to Canterlot, someone else's problem. >you could leave tonight. Just walk out the door and disappear into the everfree forest. Maybe find a nice cave to call home and become some sort of troll. Not as nice as Canterlot but at least you wouldn't have to deal with ponies anymore. >why not refuse to leave? Stay in the castle and see how much you could inconvenience Twilight. At least stick around awhile to piss ponies off because you exist. >you briefly consider just jumping off a cliff but no. That's was your solution last time you felt completely alone and all it lead to was becoming and even odder man out. >you finish packing and head downstairs. Leaving your bags by the door you go find Twilight. She's half awake writing some letters. >"anon? I didn't know you were still up, what's wrong?" Besides being told to get out of town? Nah, nothing. Having a great day. That's not why I'm still up though. >"did you want to talk about something?" Well, since I'm leaving soon I figured now was a good a time as any to clear the air about a few things. >"clear the air?" Yeah, there's a few times I've lied to you, and I feel pretty bad about it. >Twilight put away her letters and sat down next to you. Remember that one time you came home to all your books in the wrong order? That was me. I thought alphabetical order would be better but then sort of gave up half way. Or that one time the floors and bathroom were covered in mud? That wasn't Spike, he was covering for me. What actually happened was I got a little drunk, thought a pig was making fun of me, one thing lead to another. >Twilight laughed "anon, is that all? It's okay I forgive you. Although you may want to apologise to Spike too." There was also the time I didn't want to hang around you so I told you I had some errands to run and then left to play with some friends.   >Twilight's instantly stood up. Yeah, I'm really sorry about that one. I just didn't want to hurt your feelings by telling you that even though I say I'm your friend, honestly? I don't like being around you anymore than anyone else. >"a-anon I I-" >Twilight tried to stammer out something but you ignored her and kept talking. Don't worry, I understand. You're the princess of friendship, of course you want me to have friends. Of course you'd be my friend. No matter how much you might not like me. >"anon you don't understand, It's not that I don't want to be your friend it's jus-" Oh, wow. It's just what? Are you seriously going to say something like "Oh anon, it's not you it's me!" >"No anon please listen. I was-" Twilight don't bother. I'm fed up with hearing people tell me why they're still my friends or want the best for me and yet when given the choice to include me they always decide against it. >you stand and head for the door, grabbing your bags on the way out. >Twilight follows behind you trying to tell you something but you don't listen. You slam her door in her face and head out of town. >if you're not wanted here, you'll find someplace you are welcome. Someplace where people are decent enough not to lie to your face.     >be Twilight >trying to tell anon to stay and listen to you but he's too upset. >you want to tell him that you are his friend. That you really do care about him in more ways than he understands. >he won't listen he's just storming off without letting you explain. >he's walking out the door with all his things, you try one last time to ask him to stay but he just slams the door in your face. >you sit there holding back tears. You thought you would be enough. Thought that you could actually change ponies minds about him. You did it before with Zecora you thought you could do it again. >except with Zecora you had your friends to help you, and this time even they wanted him gone.   ---------------------------------------     >the door slamming wakes up Spike. He walks in to see you crying at the door. >he tries to calm you down. He hugs you and asks what's wrong but you just cry into his shoulder. >how could you even explain to him what's wrong? Would he even understand? Hey Spike you know that human that's staying with us? Well the whole town is freaked out by him, even some of your closest friends, and they got tired of seeing him around town. They demanded you kick him out of town or they would. >Why didn't they like him? What did he ever do to them? All he ever did was try and be friends with them but no, he was too strange. He made ponies feel too uncomfortable. >"please Twilight, tell me what's wrong?" >you kept crying into Spike's shoulder. You were the princess of friendship and you couldn't even convince your best friends to hang out with someone who only wanted to be their friend. Every time to bring him up they would make fun of him and talk about him like he was some monster who wandered out of the everfree forest. >why couldn't they see him the way you did? Why didn't they understand he wasn't that different. >why didn't you try harder to stop him? Why did you just let him leave instead of holding him with your magic or pinning him to the ground or running after him? You were his only friend in the world; why did you fail him? >"P-please Twilight, please stop crying."   >be Anon >walking down a dirt road with nothing but bags of clothes you packed. >you don't really know where you're going, or what you'll do when you get there. >you just want to go, get away from everyone and just, just... fuck you don't know you just know that every step you take away from those ponies is making the feeling in your stomach shrink.     >You go over your options in your head again: >Canterlot? No. No fuck no. Go through all the trouble of going back and moving just to wind up in another town of ponies who want nothing more than to chase you out of town. >The everfree forest? Even if you could survive in there you wouldn't want to give anyone who finds you the satisfaction of seeing you turn into the creepy strange monster ponies already think of you as. >Cliff? It's not really a solution, it's just running away from all your problems again. >and walking away from town in the middle of the night with some clothes isn't running away from your problems? >you shake your head and try to think of something else. You'll figure this out later. Right now you just need to get some distance between you and ponyville. >you walk for what feels like hours, stopping every now and then when the path forks. >you have no idea where you are, and for all you know you've been walking in circles. >then you hear it, off in the distance what sounds like a cry for help mixed with some odd bird noises. >you rush off the path following the cries for help until you find their source. A griffon with green eyes got its wing and legs stuck under a fallen tree. H-hey! Are you alright? >"Oh, thank Celestia someone heard me I need some help! hnn, this stupid tree fell on me and I aaaarg!" >the griffon looked at you and for the first time in a very long time you didn't see something. >you looked into her dark green eyes and didn't see fear or worry at the sight of you.   >you helped her get out from under the tree and after she thanked you she did something you honestly didn't expect. She stayed and offered you her paw to shake hands. >"My name's Clarissa, I'm a griffon." I'm Anon, I'm a Human and uhh, glad I could help. >you shake her paw and she smiles. "not as glad as I am. I mean seriously, what would I have done if you hadn't shown up?" >you keep eyeing her expecting her to start inching away from you or looking around nervously like ponies usually do once they realize they're alone with you but she doesn't. She just keeps smiling and trying to talk with you. >"Human huh? First human I ever meet Are you related to the minotaurs or?" Not really. Well maybe? I've never met a minotaur but I doubt it. >you flex showing off all nothing of your muscles and she laughs. >"hahaha, alright. I just ask because you sorta look like one. So mister Hooman, what are you doing all the way out here in the middle of the night? Do you live in the forest?" No, I was just. I was out for a midnight stroll. >"out here? miles away from the nearest town?" A very long midnight stroll. >she laughs again and you feel a smile form on your face. >"Remind me never to take walks with you then. I go ten feet to pick up my mail and I have to fly myself back inside." So what are you doing out here then? Like you said we're not near any towns or anything. >she stops smiling and looks away with an all too familiar look in her eyes. kicked out of town too huh? >you talk about what happened to her. >Ponies in the town she went to had never seen something like her before and treated her much the same way they treated you. Only she didn't have a princess on her side to smooth things over. >"at least the tomatoes they threw were fresh." >you laugh with her and feel your heart flutter. >Eventually you give in to her prying and explain what happened to you. >Once you finish your story she looks at you with compassionate eyes and wraps her furry arms around you.     >you sit there in the cold dark night just enjoying the hug not saying anything. Not wanting the moment to end. >After awhile she lets go and you look into her dark green eyes. So. What do we do now? >she looks away, thinking about something and staring at the ground. >"Anon, there's somewhere I want to take you. It's a place where I can promise you'll never have to deal with those horrible ponies again. A place where you can be happy but... but before I can take you there, there's something you need to know about me."   >be Twilight Sparkle >talking to some pegasus ponies to ask if they've seen Anon. >they shake their heads and you feel your heart sink. It's been months but you still hope that he'll just show up one day. >suddenly Spike comes running through town square at you, holding a scroll in his hand. >you look over the scroll and tell Spike to gather the girls and meet you at the train station. >As soon as everyone is there you all hop aboard and head to Canterlot to meet with Princess Celestia. She didn't say what was so important that she needed you all to come, but when she says something is important you listen. >after a quick train ride and a rush to the castle you make it to the throne room. >Inside you see someone you thought you would never see again. >"Anon you're back!"     >you fly over to him and give him a big hug. Your friends follow behind you although not as enthusiastically as you. >as you squeeze him you look him over. He seems, different. He seems thinner and weaker and more, happy? Nice to see you too Twilight but, please let go. You're.. crushing.. mee.. >you let go and head over to Celestia with an excited smile on your face while your friends talk with anon. >"Oh Celestia thank you so much for finding anon." >She looks at you with a worried expression. >"I'm sorry Twilight but I didn't call you here about him. He is only the messenger." >She gestures to your friends to come listen. Anon just slinks back and rests against a pillar. >Celestia looks all of you over before telling you why she called all of you here. >she tells you about the message anon brought her from Queen Chrysalis. >as she speaks you look to your friends and see them just as confused as you are. >is this really happening? >you look over to anon, he just smiles and looks to the throne room doors. >your friends argue with Celestia, they say this is all some big trick but she assures them that this is all they want. >give them this and they will leave peacefully. >you just keep staring at anon who finally notices you and smiles. >you're the first to agree and soon after so do your friends. >the doors swing open and several changelings step inside. >they approach the six of you and wait patiently. After some assurance from Celestia you step forward and let them study you. >they copy your looks and, after some brief conversation, copy your voice. >they do the same with the rest of your friends and when they're done they thank you for your time and leave with anon following closely behind them.   >be anon >wake up on a grassy hill. >stand up and look around, off in the distance you see a small town. >it's Ponyville, exactly as you thought it would look. >you head into town and as you pass the ponies inside they wave at you and smile. >you walk into town square and promptly knocked over by a pink pony with pink mane and green eyes. >"Hi I'm Pinkie Pie! Are you new here? What are you? What's your name?" >You smile as you look into her excited face. Hi Pinkie Pie, my name is Anonymous, but you can call me Anon. >"imma call you noony, you look like a noony." >she keeps talking in that special way only Pinkie Pie could talk. No breaks or pauses to let you respond just constant questions and talk of parties. >later today you'll meet Applejack, Rarity, Twilight, Fluttershy, and Rainbow Dash. >Each one of them will be so excited to meet you and want to be your friend. >then later they'll all throw you a big welcome to ponyville party so you can make lots of friends! >everything will go like you always expected it to go. How you always wanted it to go. >and you couldn't be happier.   End
