Author: BigBlackButters Pastebin link: http://pastebin.com/mRMR8d25 First Edit: Sunday 20th of September 2015 11:55:15 AM CDT Last Edit: Last edit on: Sunday 20th of September 2015 12:00:04 PM CDT >You are Rainbow Dash and you are so excited! > After you guys had stopped off at the hotel you got back in the first class train carts and continued on your merry way to the Triathlon location. > It was going to be so great! > And without the bummer Anon you would be able to enjoy it entirely. > You and Twi had chalked it up to drugs, deciding to help him when you would get back. > You were sure he was fine otherwise. "I'm so pumped!" You shouted. > The train was just now pulling into the area the Triathlon was being held. > It looked amazing. > First off the area was massive, the first thing you noticed was the practical ocean of a pool they had set up. Surrounding it was a running track which lead in and out of the stadium. > The stadium was weirdly shaped resembling some sort of giant amoeba if anything. > You and the rest of the athletes stepped out onto a marble platform, multiple cheery voices filled the air as you all talked. > A majority of the athletes from the other parts of Equestria stood at the booths lining the station. > They each talked to different clerks. > Even on the other side of this massive stadium you could hear the stamping of multiple hooves and shouts from the crowd. > Off in the corner you could see Celestia, Luna, and Cadance greeting some royalty and showing them to the specially reserved spots. > You friends all shared their 'bye's' and 'goodlucks' as they trotted off to get their spots as well. > You smiled broadly, this was going to be the best day ever! > "What is that?" A pony said curiously from your left. > You turned to the right and squinted at the distance. > No... "Way..." > Anon was jogging down the tracks looking like a total wreck. > His shirt and shorts were torn in several different places. > He was drenched in sweat. > His beard was sagging and bouncing with each step, a look of determination in his eyes. > He was staring directly at you... > "Wha-wha..." > By the time he made it to the station everybody was staring at him. > Except for your friends and the princesses, they had already evacuated the premises and found their spots. > Anon stopped in front of you, staring at you the whole time he fell to his knees. "I want a test..." he simply said, turning to the booths. > The athletes stopped what they were doing and all looked awkwardly around. > One of the mares stepped out of her booth and trotted up slowly to you, like you were a rabid animal. > "Excuse me?" she asked, still keeping caution. > You turned back to dash. > You were dead but you didn't care. > The Triathlon was still going to be done. "I said..." > You pulled out one of the jugs of the grey goop, slamming it down in front of the mare. > There was about only a cup full left in it from your run. " I want to be tested for drug use..." > "I-I, O-Okay... What's your name?" "Anonymous." > The mare froze. > She simply gestured for you to follow her and you did. > You looked back at Dash who was breathless. > You get up slowly and wearily. > With a grunt you flick her off. > The mare lead you away from the signup area and to a tired looking unicorn pony, he was a dark blue and wore a loose lab coat. > "Doctor this is Anonymous, he would like to be tested for drug use." > The doctor turned to you and sighed. > "Hop up Anonymous, I shouldn't be doing this but I'm about to get off in half an hour so make this quick okay?" > You walk over and plop down on the hospital bed, the bed nearly bending under you. > He wordlessly pulled out a needle and sterilized it. > Before you could protest he stuck it in your arm. > What kind of doctor is this? > Pulling a long draw of blood he withdrew the needle. > Without even asking if you were okay he trotted off in another room. > You turned to the mare. > As if reading your mind she sighed. > "The Triathlon won't start for another two hours, first after we test you if the results come up negative he will talk with the overseer of this event and see if you can come back in. " > With that she left you to your own devices, muttering something as she walked out. > Sounded like 'bucking athletes' or something. >The test had taken an hour. > The doctor said you had something funky in your blood at first but when he examined it further it was just a bunch of herbs and plants you had been consuming. > I.E the grey goop. > After dragging you along to talk to the overseer he deemed it right for you to participate, disregarding Twilight's assumption on 'unjust assumption'. > Though the doctor did scold you for keeping him on longer. > So here you were, headed towards the locker room. > And they were massive, you turn a corner and found yourself in a maze of lockers and showers. > You lumbered in, ignoring the stares you got from the ponies getting ready. > Heading over to the only rusted out locker in a row of recently cleaned lockers you open it up. > An ungodly screech followed suite as you did. > You rubbed the side of the door, feeling connected to this particular locker for some reason. > Tossing your pack in you sat down on the locker in front of it, you didn't need anything except for your shorts and shirt. > The clopping of hooves off to your side caught your attention. > Turning to look up you saw Thunderlane strolling over. > "Welp you happy freak? You managed to squeal your way in, even though you're gonna lose anyway." > He smiled broadly as if expecting you to say something back or hit him. "Eh." > His eyes widened in surprise. > "Wait, what." > You turn back to the locker and stare at it. "I'm tired of hurtful insults and caring about the others, if you are all going to say something than you obviously have nothing better to do." > You rose to your full height, towering over him. "So if you want something to do, feel free to say it all you want." > His mouth seemed to flap up and down as he wordlessly tried to say something. > Suddenly he just turned around and trotted off, looking back dejectedly over his shoulder. > A shrill ringing caught your attention. > Over the mic a mares voice sounded around the locker room. > "Twenty-five minutes until the Iron Mare competition starts, Everypony participating finish up what you are doing and get on out there!" > With a click the voice was gone and everybody else began to wrap up what they were doing. > You look back at the locker one more time before heading towards the games.   > You stood with the other ponyville Athletes in some kind of dark room under the stadium. > Thunderlane avoided looking at you while the others chatted feverishly. > Rainbow was glaring at you from across the room. > Eh. > Suddenly you heard the word ponyville called and light filled your vision. > You stepped out as the other galloped forward, basking in the glory. > Banners, confetti and cheering was literally everywhere. > It was almost maddening. > Turning your neck to look up you could see all of the royal ponies sitting in their own section. > The elements smiled and waved, until they saw you. > Twilight mouthed some confusion while the others just stared on forward. > Rarity glared at you with a seething hatred. > By the time you came up to the 'glory' stand the ponies were already up there and waiting patiently. > It was just a really big stage. > The announcer declared a bunch of things about the triathlon happily and introduced more town athletes. > By the time it was over there were at least five hundred athletes of multiple races and you on the stand. > They all waved at the screaming and adoring fans. > You just folded your arms and looked around the stadium.   >"Alright!" the mare declared, her voice booming on the mic. > Still softer than Iron Will. > "It's time for the to began, starting off with the 4 Kilometer swim!" > With that she made a grandiose gesture to the pool in the middle of the stadium. > In an organized manner they moved everybody over to one end of the pool. > You walked in the opposite direction of Dash. > You both were at different ends of the pool. > Which was saying much as it was a really big pool. > Could practically be a lake. > "Our athletes will be swimming in this Two kilometer pool, upon reaching one end of the pool, they will kick off and swim back to the other end!. > A loud ring and a giant 3 appeared in the sky.   > You are Rainbow Dash and you watch with anxiety as the 3 counts down to 2   > You are Anon, and you just realized. > You were still absolutely exhausted from the run... > Your advantage over these fools... > Gone. > RIIIIINNG. > Every Minotaur, Pony, Griffon and even a few dragons jumped into the water. > You weren't the most graceful swimmer, but you jack-knifed in. > Using the momentum you had you kick forward. > Focusing on using mainly your upper-body to propel yourself you would defiantly be at a disadvantage this round. > Among all of the cheering.... > One thing stood out. > "Goo rainbow WOOO!" Pinkie shouted. > Her friends joined shortly after and you dug deep.... > And couldn't find anything... > No determination to win. > No will too fight. > No ridiculous boost of adrenaline yo combat your fatique. > Nothing... > Then.... > "Show them who's the best Anon!" > "You think you're going to get anywhere iwith giving up!?" > "I NEVER GAVE UP AND LOOK AT THE BULL I AM TODAY!" > With a roar you began to propel yourself faster, gaining ground on some of the races ahead of you. > "No more second best!" "No more!" > "No more crying and giving up!" "No...." > "No more losing Anon." > You snapped your eyes open and glared at the creature closest to you. > The Griffon glanced at you briefly then flinched. > Your eyes felt like they were on fire... "MORE!!!" > You began to paddle so fast there was no delay between the splashes. > Within seconds you started to gain lead, moving from the back of the crowd to the front. > The ones leading the swimming looked at you briefly before upping their game. > You were one of the first ones to reach the wall. > Kicking off you began to glide your way through the water. > Not using brute force to swim now but rather technique it became easier to move across the water. > Digging deep you used your last burst of energy to push forward. > And by the time you reached the end of the pool some of the slower swimmers were just reached the first end. > Crawling out of the pool you resisted the urge to fall over. >"Hurry! Hurry! The second leg is starting now!" The announcer shouted.   > You looked over briefly and saw a flash of rainbow heading towards the track. > The bikes were already out, different ones set up for different races. > Nothing for you though... > You decided to pick out a minotaurs bike, which had special pedals for their hooves. > It was smashing into your toes but you didn't care. > A giant transparent box blipped into view in the middle of the stadium. > Then something really neat happened. > The stadium began to split open, leading way to a dirt path. > "Ride, ride, ride. The 180 kilometer bike tour will take you around and right back here~!" > The announcer was starting to get on your nerves. > Pushing forward to start pedaling you found yourself riding to hundreds of other bodies right out the stadium. > The pedals were really affecting your toes now, making you wince in everytime you peddled. > Then a blur of rainbow passed you. > Zeroing in on it you began to pedal faster, ignoring the feeling of your feet being shredded. > "Don't let some fancy, shmancy horse show you up Anon!" > "Show them what our training was, if you fail I fail. And Iron Will never fails!" > A thought of the medallion prodded at your mind. > You could feel a warm liquid accumulating at your feet but you did not care. > There was only one thing you cared about. > "We" "Always" >"Win!" > With a shout your bike began to move at speeds akin to a moped back on earth. > With each time you pedaled you could feel the pedals crushing your feet more and more. > Within a couple of minutes you gained on dash. > She was on a quadruped bike that harbored four pedals instead of two. > Were it not for your burning fury it would be pretty humorous. > But right now all it did was fuel you. > She looked over at you and growled. > You just growled back. > Turning back just in time too see you were entering a forest you ducked, being tall enough for the branches to start hitting you in various spot. > The faster you went the harder they whipped. > That was poor planing on their part... > Looking back briefly you saw some of the minotaurs giving up, facing the same problem as you. > You turned back just in time to be whacked in the face by a thick branch. > You almost lost balance. > Dash laughed... > And you brought your head back up and kept on going. > She stopped. > You two stayed neck and neck for awhile, slowly inching ahead of each other at times. > Two cyclists passed you guys, either trying to win or get away from the tense fury in between you two. > Dash turned right suddenly. > You bought your bloody foot down and skidded to a stop at a sharp turn. > Getting back in position you continued on. > Now you were out of the forest, on a clear country side. > This gave you the adequate space to catch up to her. > She was smiling until she saw you catch up again. > "Stop trying so hard Anon!" she shouted over the whipping wind. "Never!" > You ducked low and used your weight to your advantage. > Time to make it or break it. > You began to think of Judgement day. > All of the training Will put you through. > The discipline you learned at the camp. > Controlling your rage. > You and Will talking. > "You're cooler than Dash Anon!" > Those words echoed in your mind. > With a smile akin to a psycho-path you turned to Dash. "Scootaloo thinks I'm cooler than you..." >"What!?" Dash shouted glaring at you. "I said Scootaloo thinks I am cooler than you!" > There it was, the same fury you held, burning right behind her eyes. > But she wasn't used to it... > Using this moment to get past her you flicked her off as you took the lead. > When you looked away from her you turned back just in time too see another forest coming up. > Your sneer could petrify Medusa herself. > You entered the forest and this one was even thicker than the last. > What felt like millions of tiny whips slapped across your face and bare skin. > You began to faulter. > And you fell off your bike. > With a shout of surprise you tipped over, staring up at the clouds in the sky. > Dash came to a halt in front of you and looked around. > The other racers were still far behind you two, save for the few that had passed you earlier. > Looking down at you she frowned. > With a shake of her head and a click of her tongue she took off, leaving you there alone. > "I almost thought there was more!" She shouted back at you. > You stared blankly at the sky. > Then it set in. > Despite your muscles protesting every. Single. Movement. > Despite your feet being sore and covered in blood. > Despite your brain screaming stop. > You get up. > And grab the bike again. > You slide your feet and nearly pass out from the pain. > Furrowing your brow you shove them in faster, ignoring the flaring pain. > Gripping the handles you began to pedal again. > You skid to a stop inside of the stadium. > Some of the contenders had already started the third and final leg. > They ran around the track, each lap a kilometer. > Fourty-three laps. > You could barely walk without feeling pain. > Some of the less awestruck members gasped when they saw your legs. > They tried to rush over and help. > You just pushed past them. > Then you began to jog, each step agony. > You went from a light jog to a sprint, managing to clear three laps within an hour. > By now Celestia and Luna were starting to trade off, leaving the time at dawn. > Spotlights surrounded the stadium. > With each step you found yourself being run down more and more. > It was setting in. > All of the physical torture you put your body through was finally setting in. > But you kept on going, doing your best to ignore it all. > Two ponies shot you stares as they galloped by. > You couldn't do it anymore. > It was over.... > "ANOOOOON!" > The booming voice echoed over the crowd. > Most, if not everybody turned to look at the owner. > Looking up in the crowd you nearly cried in surprise. > Iron Will and a group of goats stood among the crowd. The goats munched on popcorn while he struck various poses. > When you got close enough he struck a final pose. > After that he flicked something throughout the air. > Catching it mid-air you look down at it. > It was your medallion. > You had forgotten it home in your haste. > Looking back up you could see him glaring at the Elements before sitting back down. > Looking back at the medallion you slipped it on. > The crowds cheering seemed to drone away, being replaced mentally by cheers of your name. > The world seemed to fade away as you slowly looked up. > Nothing but you and the track.... > The running bodies next to you faded away. > And so did the pain. > Gripping the medallion you moved forward a little bit faster. > And faster. > Until you were running at a full sprint, numb to everything else in the world. > By the time you were on your final lap it was almost one in the morning. > Most of the contenders had given up long ago, unable to go on. > By now it was you, two Griffons, A couple of ponies, and one dragon. > Oh and Dash. > Most of the crowd had quieted down, a majority of them staring down at you. > You were still sprinting... > By now Dash was trotting slowly around the track, panting heavily to herself. > You gained on her but you didn't really notice. > You were like a robot. > When you hit the halfway mark the crowd began to lean forward. > The splendor of the games had worn off, but not off of you. > You hit the final mark, instantly collapsing as your body finally gave out. > As the world faded in and out you could see some nurse ponies scrambling to your aid. > For a brief second you could see Celestia flying down. > She stopped in front of you and stared softly down at you. > The world went dark. > The last thing you heard was Iron Will shouting something.   > You awoke to the sound of cheering crowds. > Oh no wait that was just the beeping of your heart monitor. > You stared up at the white ceiling blankly. > Until Iron Will coughed, catching you attention. > You slowly turned your head to him, the whole world feeling like a dream. > "Anon... you know what I'm going to say." > You smiled, that he was prou- > Taking his newspaper and rolling it up he swatted you on the fore-head. > The already bruised area flared with pain. "Ow the fuck Will!?" > "Anon there's a certain limit someone has, I believe in pushing past it but you were just acting plain dumb." > You frown. > He smiled. > "But I'll be burned in tartarus if I ain't proud of ya!" > He looked over at something and grabbed it off of the shelf behind you. > "Oh and by the way." > He slid a silver trophy into yours arms. > Which refused to move.... > "You came in fifth. Pretty impressive Anon." > You thought about it for a second. > "Don't worry that Rainbow one came in seventh." > HAH! > You would lean back if you even could. > But you were definitely feeling the havoc that you had wrecked on your body. > The door creaked open and a nurse poked her head in. > "Uhm Anon... Celestia is here to see you." > Will seemed to tense up a bit but you simply clicked your tongue. " I guess I can see her." > The nurse nodded and disappeared behind the door. > A minute later it re-opened and Celestia with all of her regality trotted in. > She smiled softly at you and Will. > Neither of you returned the gesture. > She sighed and pulled over a chair with her magic. > Sitting down in it she looked you both over. > "I am terribly sorry Anon..." > Will blew some air from his nose but you clicked your tongue again. "It's good." > Celestia's eyes widened. > "It's good? If I had taken some time out of my day to pay attention you wouldn't be here right now." "Exactly." > "What?" "If you had taken time out of your day I wouldn't be here, I wouldn't have Will as a friend and I would probably still be a sad sack of flab sitting in my house doing nothing all day." > Celestia went silent. "Sides' I don't blame you directly." > "I do." Will grunted. "You're a princess, you can't take time for everybody." >With a grunt you shuffle limply in your bed. "There is one way you can make it up actually." >Celestia waited patiently. "Make Iron Will train your military." >Iron Will perked up. >"What?" "Dude's tight on money and could really use it. Plus, if he's in canterlot he's close to ponyville." >"Anon, I'm not really sur-" >You give him a tired look. >He just smiled and chuckled, shaking his head. >"Anon, that's a bold reques-" "Who do you think trained me?" >You gestured to Will with your head. "Besides, I ran here on my own." > "Do you accept the offer Iron Will?" Celestia said upon hearing that. > Will scratched his chest. > "I'll show them the best!" "Eugh." > "What about the Elements Anon, would you like to see them?" "No, I'll get the full show at home." > With that Celestia and Will left you alone. > Or tried too. > You stopped them before they could leave. "Who came in first?" > They both shared a look before turning back to you. > "Some pony named Cardio Bunny, she also said she wanted to see you back at home." >Oh... > They went to discuss their new deal, Will assuring you he wouldn't tell them about the goop. > It would just be between you, him, and the goats. > Turning back to the ceiling you think about your accomplishment. > Maybe you could start up a business now... > Or maybe hunt something... > The possible choices were endless. > All you knew, is that you just started a new chapter in your life. > And it would be a good one.
