Danni walked through the field, calling out "Jass! Jass?! The mermaid opened one eye, awakening from her gentle doze. She grunted a little, rolling over in the water and peering out into the field. She smiled. "She is! Or, she is for now. Soon, she'll be just a little soul. That's why my belly is gurgling, though--your friend is very wiggly." She patted her tummy.

"Oh, well.. Can I touch it?" she reached out, looking up at Kat for confirmation. "I've never met a mermaid before, and I've definitely not seen a person eaten alive before.. You're digesting her? Is she in pain?"

She laughed. "Yes, yes, and no. To answer all your questions." She giggled when the shepherdess's hands touched her belly.

Do you come through here often?" she asked, her attention back to Kay. "It's a good place for it, we're the only ones who ever come out here."

She nodded. "I do not usually feast here, but I saw her, and she was so cute, and I was so hungry." She grinned. "I could not resist her."

She smiled. "So Ive heard. I hope the people of your village are so enthusiastic." 
She laughed. "Me too!" 
Kat yawned, and slowly, she dozed as the shepherdess slowly quieted. 
When she woke, her belly was small again, enough to make swimming upstream a breeze. Still, she wondered if the people of the village would accept her as their goddess, would build their shrine to her, would be lining up to be eaten by her... 
Well, no way of knowing until she went, right?
