Bian
Abbreviation of lesbian, means a female homosexual. Japan's lesbians began to use it from the 90s onward from reluctance to use the abbreviation "lez" due to it having been used pejoratively. Also used as cant.

Nonke
From meaning not having that ke [touch/inclination], a heterosexual.

Seku
Abbreviation of sexuality [sekushuariti]. Within the lesbian community, principally as slang referring to "role in regards to sex" used such as when making self-introductions. Answering with one of tachi, neko or riba is standard, but there are various ways of answering depending on the person, such as tachi-leaning riba, neko-leaning riba, nonsexual or asexual. Also, in the case of being uncertain of their sexuality, some people introduce themselves as questioning. Some people also have a stance of disliking fixing their sexuality through introductions and don't state a sexuality for themselves.

Tachi
Active party in sexual activity. From kabuki's "tachi-yaku (male role)". Furthermore, appearance and behavior are not limited to masculine, with femme-tachi also being common. (near-synonym: seme, antonym: neko)

Neko
Passive party in sexual activity. (near-synonym: uke, antonym: tachi)

Riba
From meaning being able to become either (English: liberty [ribati], reverse [ribasu]), being able to be both tachi or neko, or in sex between women will "do" stimulation and "be done" at the same time. Also, changing one's position as tachi/neko depending on one's partner.

Femme [femu]
Bian who is feminine in looks/fashion. It is independent of "tachi" "neko", and in Japan the terms "femme tachi" and "femme neko" are used. (antonym: boyish)

Boyish [boisshu]
A bian who is boyish/androgynous in looks/fashion. It is independent of "tachi" "neko", and in Japan the terms "boyish-tachi" and "boyish-neko" are used. In recent times, gets used abbreviated as "boi-tachi" and "boi-neko".

Bari-tachi
Orientation of being completely tachi and absolutely won't be riba. (related term: bari-neko).
Can also mean a tachi who has short hair or likes hard clothing such as leather jackets or jeans. Often hard to distinguish from FtM transgender. (antonym: suka-tachi)

Bari-neko
Person who is completely the passive party in sexual activity. (related term: bari-tachi)

Jari-tachi [jari is literally gravel, but is slang for a kid]
Child-like boi-tachi. Referring to a lesbian who is sometimes lacking common sense, wild or insensitive, it can be used as a bit of a negative word.

Sasoi-neko [lit: invitation-neko]
Neko who is the passive party in sexual activity, but rather than just waiting passively, is forward in applying seduction in order to initiate sex. Becomes passive once sex starts.

Suka-tachi
Person who is the active party in sex, but likes feminine clothing such as wearing a skirt [sukato]. Since feminine clothing is not necessarily a skirt, these days often referred to by the synonym femme-tachi. (antonym: zubo-neko, boi-neko)

Zubo-neko
Person who is the passive party in sexual activity, but likes boyish clothing such as wearing trousers [zubon] (antonym: suka-tachi, femme-tachi). These days often referred to by the synonym boi-neko.

Biffe
Abbreviation of "Bian as Feminine for Feminine", a person who is herself femme and yet desires femme as her object of romantic interest. The expression "femme×femme" is commonplace for this.

Femme×femme
Used such as in self-introductions, in cases where oneself is feminine and one's object of romantic interest is also femme only. Only used in Japan.

Homo-bian
A tachi who likes tachi. A tachi going out with a tachi.

Kai-awase [literally shell-joining, it's also the name of a Heian period game]
Sexual activity of women rubbing their labia together.

Nanchatte [just kidding]
People who, out of simple curiosity, perhaps doubts about their orientation or some other reason, declared themselves to be a lesbian, entered the world of lesbianism and engaged in romantic conduct, but then in the middle of that found a boyfriend or got married and so didn't go through with living as a lesbian, are derisively called "nanchatte lez" or "nanchatte bian". In contrast to this, through and through lesbians may be called "shinsei [innate/genuine] lesbian".
