Zaratan are known by assorted names in assorted cultures and belong to a broad group of behemothic sea creatures including the Island Fish.

Motive: Sleep, drift, eat

Environment: Saltwater oceans

Health: Effectively unlimited

Damage Inflicted: Game over.

Movement: Long. Slow, but long.

Modifications: Zaratan can do 2 things. Rise to the surface and float for centuries, or dive. They automatically succeed at both these actions.

Combat: If attacked - and you'd have to be using a huge magical weapon that deals phenomenal damage - the Zaratan will either withdraw into it's shell or dive.

Interaction: None possible. The creature's thoughts work on a totally different timescale to yours.

Use: Who knows what lies in the ruins on the Zaratan's back. Or perhaps it's a fishing village, a pirate community who have somehow managed to steer the creature over the decades...
