I banged this out a few years ago for a adventure that never happened, and really should share it more often. The design stricture here was to cover all of Santa's classic abilities with as modest stats as possible. Santa Claus Elf Level 9 HP: 40 Alignment: Chaotic (plays by his own rules, values his judgement above others) Strength: 10 Intelligence: 18 Wisdom: 17 Dexterity: 18 (so lively and quick) Constitution: 10 Charisma: 18 (His eyes how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!) Save vs Poison: 8 Save vs Magic Wand: 9 Save vs Paralysis: 9 Save vs Dragon Breath: 10 Save vs Spells: 10 (+2 bonus when saving against magic) 1st level Spells (4) Charm Person (x3) (modification: cast by handing the target the perfect gift) Protection From Evil 2nd level Spells (4) Knock Detect Evil Levitate Phantasmal Force 3rd Level Spells (4) Clairvoyance (he sees you when you're sleeping) Haste Hold Person (x2) (modification: cast by handing the target a wonderful new toy they can't resist stopping evrything to play with) 4th Level Spells (2) Dimension Door (modification: only works through chimneys) Curse (modification: cast by handing the target a lump of coal) 5th Level Spells (1) Feeblemind (modification: cast by handing the target a delightful puzzle they can't resist finishing) Special effect: Santa Claus recovers all his spells by eating a plate of cookies and drinking a glass of milk. Staff +2, +1 damage for thorned holly leaves. THAC0 11, 9 with quarterstaff Damage 1d4+3 Unarmored, but wears a magic belt granting AC +2 Total AC 4 Ring of Reindeer Control Ring of Wishes (3 charges, recharges annually) Flying Sleigh The biggest damn Bag of Holding in the world. 9 tiny reindeer (2HD each AC 6, one gore attacx doing 1d6 damage, one of them can cast Light at will). Santa often travels with a bugbear named Krampus, whom he allows to seize children of particular naughtiness. Krampus has maximum hit points, wears chains granting a +1 AC bonus and wields a birch branch that immobilizes the target with terror if they fail a save vs. paralysis. Krampus carries the second-biggest bag of holding in the world, into which he stuffs the naughty children to carry back to his lair and devour.
