"You're in human form...any special reason?" Diana flattened her gray a-line skirt self-consciously. "Well...I asked Helios if he could make me a charm that would keep me in human form as long as I wanted," she replied, pointing to crescent moon shaped pendant at her chest. "It took him a little while, but he managed something." "You look nice," she said. Diana blushed a little self consciously and smiled. "You've become an elegant young lady since I last saw you in human form." "T-thank you," she replied. "Though I think this dress is a little, well..." Diana glanced down at the bell-strewn dress with it's thigh high stockings. It still fit her perfectly, but it looked a little odd on a sixteen year old girl, especially compared to the more mature clothing of the other teenaged royalty in the palace. Princess Saturn laughed a little. "Why don't we go shopping with Michiru? She has excellent taste. I'm sure we could find something a little more suitable." Diana hugged Saturn's arm. "Thank you, Princess Saturn. That's very kind. We should ask Princess Lady Serenity and her guardians along..." Saturn laughed a little nervously. "That's a lot of people with a lot of strong opinions," she said. "I think it would be better if it was just the three of us." Diana looked a little nervous. "But...are you sure they will not mind?" "I'm sure it will be fine," Saturn said, continuing to walk down the columned hallway and toward her study. "Say, Diana..." "Yes, Princess Saturn?" "Why did you get the amulet? Is there a reason that you wanted to be in human form...?" Diana looked nervously away from the Princess. "Well...sort of, I guess. It's just...even though I hang out with you and Lady Serenity and her guardians, well...I feel sort of..." "Forgotten?" Diana frowned. "It's just...I'm so small, and...well...not having hands can be rather inconvenient, to be perfectly honest. It's difficult, almost impossible to do all of the things everyone else takes for granted. Playing sports, reading books..." she blushed. "And, well..." Princess Saturn smiled knowingly. "Dating?" "I know it's just a distraction from my duties," she blurted out hurriedly. "But I see Lady Serenity and Helios together, and, well...." she blushed. "They just look so happy. I can't help feeling a little..." Princess Saturn smiled sadly. "I think I know what you mean, Diana. I'm sure Michiru-mama will pick out clothes that make you look very nice." Diana blushed and smiled happily. "Hmmmmm...." Michiru stared at Diana in her bell strewn gray dress. "You're right to want a change of pace, Diana. It looks a bit much like a fetish costume for my tastes." "Princess Neptune!" Diana said, a distinctly uncomfortable look on her face. "What a thing to say!" Michiru shrugged and gave a careless smirk. "I just call it like I see it. And don't call me Princess Neptune, we're out in public. I don't want people to know I'm royalty." "R-right... Ms. Kaiou." "Better. Let's see..." Michiru browsed through the endless racks of clothing like it was second nature. While Diana waited rather anxiously, Hotaru browsed through some sun hats nearby. "This one is nice," Hotaru said, plopping a white hat studded with orange flowers on her head. It didn't really sit well on her face, however, because of the many buns on top of her head. Hotaru took the hat off of her head. "Hmm.... Why don't you take your hair down for a second?" "Okay," Diana said, unpinning her buns and slowly unraveling her hair. It fell in long, neat waves like her mother's did; it was looked soft and fine--almost too soft for human hair. Michiru turned away from the rack where she had garnered several outfits. "You should braid that, or it will tangle something awful. Trust me, I know." "Um, okay," Diana said. "How do I do that?" Michiru handed the clothing off to Hotaru temporarily while she hastily put Diana's hair into a neat braid. "There you go." Hotaru put the hat back on her friend and gave a satisfied look. "It looks really cute on you," she said. Diana blushed. "I don't know... I probably look silly." Michiru glanced aside. "No, it looks nice on you. Here," she said, handing half a dozen outfits to Diana, "try these on." Diana looked a little taken aback. "All of them!?" "Do you have any clothes besides that gray dress?" Michiru asked. "...Well, no..." "Then yes. All of them." With that, she ushered Diana into the dressing room. Diana felt more like a mannequin than a girl by the time the whole affair was over. Michiru had helped pick out about a dozen different outfits, mostly in shades of pale blue and yellow. At Michiru's insistence, Diana changed almost immediately into a a empire-waisted shirt and jean capris. "Well, my work here is done," Michiru announced, admiring her handiwork. Diana looked decidedly more like teenaged girl in her twin braids and slacks and less like a Mauan in human form. "I'm going to head back to the palace now. Why don't you two have some girl time?" Hotaru looked thoughtful. "Well--" "See you later!" Michiru said, hurriedly walking off with a smirk. "...I'm not sure what Michiru-mama's intentions are..." Hotaru said suspiciously. Diana looked a little awkward. "What do you mean?" "Would you like to get a bite to eat while we're out, Diana?" Hotaru asked. "Oh... well... if you don't mind," she replied, looking around nervously. "Are you okay?" Hotaru asked. "Everything looks so different now that I'm taller," Diana admitted. "It's a little disorienting, especially in a big city..." Hotaru smiled. "It's okay," she said, taking Diana's palm, "just stay with me, and it'll be fine." Diana looked happily down at the cake the waitress brought her. "Wow, it smells so good!" "Didn't Chibi-Usa ever give you any of her cake?" Hotaru asked, surprised. Diana nodded. "But I couldn't really taste sweet things," she replied. "So I have no idea what it tastes like to a person." She excitedly took a bite of the thick, rich chocolate cake. "Wow, I never realized sweets were so good! This is amazing!" "Haha, take it slow, Diana," Hotaru laughed. "You should try to enjoy it instead of wolfing it down. Want to try some of mine?" Diana looked interestedly at the fruit tart Hotaru had ordered. "Well... I don't want to steal your food." Hotaru took a piece from her tart and held the fork out to Diana. "Come on, just take it." "Well... okay." Diana bit on the forkful of tart happily. "Haha, now I wish I had ordered that, too," she admittedly. "We can come back tomorrow if you like," Hotaru said, eating a piece of raspberry covered tart. "Haha, I'll be as bad as Lady Serenity with the sweets at this rate," she said, embarrassed. Hotaru shrugged. "There's nothing wrong with enjoying the simple things in life," she said. "I sort of feel like... it's people who can enjoy all of the small things that really have perspective." "Like what? Besides food, I mean," Diana asked. "Hmm... I guess..." she looked out the café window. "Mostly, time you spend with the people you care about." "I think I know what you mean," Diana replied. "I guess it's because I wanted to enjoy those small things that I wanted to stay in human form." "Well, we'll have to spend another afternoon together, then," Hotaru said amiably. "I'd like that," Diana replied. "Michiru-mama," Hotaru said, walking into foster mother's office, "Why did you run off and leave me with Diana?" "Oh... are you angry?" Michiru asked. "I thought you two would enjoy some alone time." Hotaru glanced off to the side, toward a large, ornate mirror on the wall that was bordered with flowers. "Don't you think you're making kind of a big assumption about... my preferences?" Michiru looked surprised. "You don't like girls? I had always gotten the impression... well, you were awfully close with Chibi-Usa when you were younger. I know she never felt that way about you, but..." "Me and Chibi-Usa were just friends," Hotaru replied. "Oh, I know, but... I think you could have been more under the right circumstances." "So what... now that Diana is human, you think this is my chance at love?" Hotaru asked dryly, sitting down in a teal chair by the door. "You don't think Diana is a little lonely?" "Well, I'm just not sure..." Hotaru looked aside and blushed. "I mean, she was jealous of Helios and Chibi-Usa... and they're... you know..." "Straight?" "Right." "I don't think that necessarily means anything," Michiru replied. "A romantic couple will make you feel warm and envious, no matter their sexual orientation compared to yours. The Sailor Guardians often said such things about me and Haruka, and they're straight." "Don't put foolish ideas in my head, Michiru-mama," Hotaru replied. "What's so foolish about dating Diana? She's a sweetheart. You two would be cute together." "I don't want to get all... attached to the idea, only to find out she doesn't like girls," Hotaru said matter of factly. "There's no point in that." "Well, maybe you should just spend some time with her, and see where it goes," Michiru told her. There was a knock on the door to Hotaru's dim, table-lamp filled study. "Come in," Hotaru said, putting down her pen. "Hello, Princess Saturn," Diana said, sitting down on a sofa near her friend's desk. "Oh... hi, Diana," Hotaru said, smiling a little awkwardly. "Are you not studying with the girls?" Diana blushed. "I don't feel good," she said. "You don't feel good?" Hotaru was puzzled. Since the Queen and King took power and their crystals kept the Earth healthy and utopian, people did not normally become ill. "Maybe... you ate something that didn't agree with you constitution? Too many sweets?" she said with a smile. "I... I hope not," Diana said. She looked a little feverish. "That would be rather alarming." "Well, what are you symptoms?" Hotaru asked, turning toward her friend. "Uh... it's kind of embarrassing," she said. "My abdomen hurts and... I'm bleeding... down there." "Oh, uh..." she laughed, relieved. "You're menstruating, Diana. That's perfectly normal." "It is?" Diana seemed embarrassed and shocked. "What do I do? I mean... it's kind of..." "It's not a big deal," Hotaru said. She got up from her study and walked with Diana to the wing of the palace where their bedrooms were located; leading her to the bathroom adjoining her room, she explained what to do. "I guess I'm kind of naïve," Diana admitted as she came out of the bathroom. "I can't believe I never even..." she looked away, embarrassed. "Knew about this." "It's not a big deal," Hotaru said. "I was here to tell you about it. And it's not like people talk about it... girls are kind of embarrassed about their periods." "I can see why," Diana said, looking at the floor. "Is the pain very bad...?" Hotaru asked. "Y-yeah..." Diana admitted. Hotaru smiled. "I'll get you some aspirin," she said, rifling through a drawer. "You can lie down if you want." Diana looked a little relieved. "Thanks," she said, climbing underneath the quilted comforter of Hotaru's four poster bed. "I like your quilt, Saturn. Where did you get it?" "I got that in America," she said, "When I was on a diplomatic visit. I guess that pattern is called a snail's trail? I like how it sort of spirals off forever in every direction." Hotaru brought her a glass of water and a couple of pills. Diana sat up and looked down at the purple and black quilt as she swallowed the aspirin. "Thanks for helping me out, Hotaru," she said at last. "A few days ago, and this time, too..." "It's not a problem. After you lie down for a little bit, we should get some lunch. You might feel better after you've eaten something." "I hope so," Diana said. "I think I have heated blanket around here somewhere, too," Hotaru said, going into a closet and fumbling around. "That always helps." Hotaru tore her closet apart, but she couldn't find it. Maybe the maids had taken it apart to be laundered...? Hotaru sighed, putting her hands on her hips. "Can you not find it?" Diana asked, turning her face toward her friend. "No..." Hotaru said, annoyed. "I'll go ask the maids." she headed toward the door. "It's okay," Diana interjected. "Don't trouble yourself. I'd...I'd rather you stayed with me for a bit." Hotaru paused. "Well...okay." "Maybe you could cuddle up next to me, and that would make me warmer," Diana innocently suggested. Hotaru wasn't sure if she should tell Diana the possible implications of her statement. She suspected that Diana, being used to being a cat, didn't really think much of snuggling up to a friend. Besides, she was still a bit young, and snuggling with a friend wasn't that odd, she supposed, in the right context. "...Okay," Hotaru belatedly replied. She climbed under the quilt with Diana and hugged her closely. "Is this good?" "Mm-hm," Diana said, snuggling against her. Hotaru could feel herself becoming flustered, but she also felt happy pressed against Diana's soft body. She stroked her friend's long, gray hair and closed her eyes. She did not think she had ever been this close to anyone before, but it filled her with an indescribable warmth. When Hotaru woke up, Diana had turned over and was spooning against her. She realized, to her great embarrassment, that her palm had drifted to Diana's lower abdomen. She quickly moved it away as Diana groaned lightly and turned over. "Hi, Saturn," she said sleepily, rubbing her eyes. "What time is it?" "It's eight o'clock," Hotaru replied. "We missed dinner." "Oh," Diana said, a little disappointed. "I can have the servants bring something up from the kitchen," Hotaru suggested. "Aw, that's sweet of you," she said. "I am a little hungry." Hotaru got up and moved toward a call button attached to a small speaker near her door. "Hey, Princess Saturn..." Diana said. Hotaru turned toward her as she approached the call box and looked inquisitively at her friend. "Do you think... would it be weird if I slept here every night?" Hotaru paused, unsure of how to respond. "Well... I wouldn't mind, if that's what you mean." Quite the opposite--Er--what was she thinking?! "So... it's okay? I just..." she fidgeted under the comforters. "I used to snuggle up with mom and dad, but... I'm a lot bigger than them now, and... I dunno..." "It's okay, Diana," Hotaru replied, smiling. "You can sleep with me from now on if you like." "Thanks," she said with a smile. "What do you want for dinner?" Hotaru asked. "Can we have sushi?" Diana asked happily. "And pudding for dessert." Hotaru laughed at the rather incongruous combination. "Whatever you like." Diana sighed as she lay on Hotaru's bed one evening after her studies. Although Diana had been sleeping in her bed for a week, Hotaru had kept the arrangement as much of a secret as she could manage. She doubted that the others would understand that Diana didn't think anything of cuddling up to her to sleep at night. For Hotaru's part, she wasn't sure if she was glad or sad about that. When Michiru had initially encouraged her to pursue Diana, she had shrugged it off without a second thought. Now that she felt Diana's body pressing against her every night, felt her developing breasts against her and-- No, no, no! That train of thought was simply... it wasn't... it would not do. Diana didn't think of her that way, if she knew Hotaru was thinking of her that way... "Is something wrong, Diana?" Hotaru asked, trying to distract herself from her train of thought. "No... not really..." she said. "Helios and Lady Serenity are going on a date tonight. They're going to go out to eat, and see a movie... I just get a little wistful, imagining an evening out like that." "Oh," Hotaru said. She could feel her heart thundering in her chest. She suddenly wanted very much to be that person for Diana. But what if she lost what they had now? Did she dare...? "...Um, Diana..." "Yeah?" Diana replied, turning toward her friend. "We could... well..." Hotaru cleared her throat. "Would you like to go out?" "Oh, that sounds like fun!" she said, sitting up. "A girl's night out will good way to distract me from feeling envious." Hotaru fidgeted in front of her mirror. "Well, uh... if you just want it to be like that, that's fine but..." she turned bright red. She thought she might suffocate from nervousness. "I meant as like... a date." Diana blushed. "...Oh." There was a awkward silence. "Forget I said anything," Hotaru said hastily. "It's... nothing." "N-n-n-n-no!" Diana spat. "I... I think I'd like that. I mean... Princess Saturn, do you... I mean, do you feel like I'm more than..." Hotaru nodded shyly, looking at the ground. "I... I guess I should have said something sooner, with you staying here, I just--" "No, it's okay!" Diana said. "I guess..." she blushed. "I sort of felt differently around you but I just... I guess I pushed it aside because you weren't a guy, and you know I've never been in love--" her speech was kind of hurried and awkward."--So I guess I just assumed it was like, I thought you were really cool and that was all... but now that you mention it, I mean... Chibi-Usa and the Quartet are my friends, but I would never think of asking if I could sleep with them, and I guess I never examined how that was sort of weird..." Hotaru sat down next to Diana and held her close. Diana returned the embrace. They were both blushing and awkward and very unsure, but also so very happy. "Come on," Hotaru said, "Let's get dressed and go out." "That was a really nice restaurant, Miss Tomoe," Diana said as they left Tokyo's Maxim de Paris. "It must have been really expensive." Hotaru smiled. "It's not like I'm on a budget," she said. "I wanted to take you somewhere nice." "Well, it's still sweet of you," Diana said, blushing. Hotaru couldn't help but admire her crimson cheeks set against her lovely pale skin; she was adorable in her pale yellow dress and sage blazer. Hotaru could feel herself getting a little flustered; she glanced away from Diana and toward a nearby park, where a brightly lit crystal fountain surrounded by cherry trees was thundering away. "Let's walk through the park to get to the station," Hotaru suggested, taking Diana's hand. "Okay," Diana said happily. She led Diana through the park's gardens, where white peonies reflected the light of the street lanterns. Diana gazed admiringly up at the fountain, which was chiseled into intertwining loops and whorls of vines. Crystal flowers sat atop these vines, sparkling brilliantly from the light that came from within the crystal fountain. "It's so pretty," Diana said. Hotaru looked up and joined her in admiring the fountain. "Diana..." Hotaru said, turning back toward her friend. Diana looked at Hotaru, blushing slightly. "Yes?" "You should call me Hotaru...not 'Princess Saturn' or 'Miss Tomoe.' It feels... way too formal." "Okay... Hotaru," Diana said, blushing self-consciously. Hotaru smiled and put a hand around Diana's torso. "You know... your human form is..." she blushed. "You're very beautiful, Diana." "H-hotaru..." Diana said, staring into Hotaru's violet eyes. Hotaru closed them and leaned into Diana, kissing her gently. Diana awkwardly returned it. It was not the most perfect kiss the world had known. But it was sincere. Diana smiled and looked away. "I guess... we should head to the movie," she said happily. Diana paused a little awkwardly as they walked into the wing where the royal bedrooms were located. "I guess... it would probably be better if I stayed in my own bedroom." Hotaru looked a little disappointed. "If that's what you want," she said. Diana fidgeted. "Well... not really," she admitted. "But I thought it might be... awkward." "If you're not comfortable with it, you don't have to," she said. "I want you to be happy with whatever you decide." Diana leaned into Hotaru and hugged her tightly. "I want to be with you," she said affectionately. Hotaru returned the hug and leaned her cheek against Diana's head. "Then you can come with me," she replied, breaking off the hug and taking Diana by the hand. They went silently back to Hotaru's room; the rest of the household was tucked away in their rooms. Hotaru closed the door behind them and kissed Diana again. "I guess we better get our nightgowns on," she meekly suggested. Diana blushed and nodded. Hotaru couldn't help but admire Diana's soft breasts and round, feminine hips as she changed. She thought about touching her, but she was afraid that Diana would feel awkward if she did it so soon... especially when they were nude. When they tucked themselves under the quilt, Hotaru felt happier than she ever had before snugglng against Diana. As they spooned, their bodies rested together in a perfect nest of warmth. She put her hand between Diana's legs and gently rubbed her fingers against her vagina. Diana immediately squirmed against her, gasping a little in surprise. "Hotaru... what are you..." Hotaru pulled her hand away. "I'm sorry... am I moving things too fast?" "I was just a little surprised, that's all," Diana said, blushing. "I've never... felt that way before." Hotaru blushed a little. "Oh," she said. "Do you want me to keep going...?" Diana just nodded. Her face was bright red, but she smiled softly as Hotaru moved her hand between Diana's legs and stroked her. As Diana leaned into her fingers ever so slightly, Hotaru moved them back and slid them down into Diana's underwear. Hotaru kissed Diana's neck as she felt for her clit. She was delighted to find that Diana's pussy was wet and she really was enjoying what Hotaru was doing to her. As she began to rub the small nub of flesh, Diana made a quiet whimpering noise. "Do you like that?" Hotaru whispered into her ear. Diana made a muffled moaning noise as Hotaru nibbled on her ear and rubbed against her. She gently slid two of her fingers inside of Diana; Diana's thighs began twitching from the intense pleasure. Before long, Diana's muscles shuddered in release. The thrilled expression that crossed her lover's face filled Hotaru with ardor, and she found herself pressing against Diana with renewed vigor until she, too, came. Hotaru snuggled her face against Diana's cheek and wrapped her arms around her. She felt perfectly happy and at peace; a quiet sigh escaped Diana's lips. "I love you, Hotaru," Diana said. "I love you, too, Diana," she replied. "Hey," Haruka called out. Hotaru and Diana were walking down the hall, taking a break from their duties to grab a light lunch. "You two seem awful tight." Hotaru blushed and glanced to the side. "Well..." Haruka sighed. "Soon, I'll be a grandparent..." "Stop getting strange ideas!" Hotaru protested. "Strange ideas?" Haruka replied, putting a hand on her chin. "Y-yes!" Diana interjected. "Hmm," she said. "It doesn't seem that strange, considering I saw you two come out of Hotaru's bedroom this morning." Diana and Hotaru just blushed as Haruka walked away, waving casually behind her.
