>you're at your summer home, it's a three-day weekend so you wanted to relax a little 
>but it's not really summer yet, the nearby lake is frozen and there's some snow 
>the weather is getting warmer every day, though
>the lake usually partially thaws during the day, then freezes again in the night 
>there's a thin layer of water on the ice
>late at night, just before going to bed. you see a pack of fluffy ponies walking on the shore 
>fluffy ponies are a usual sight here, their fluff protects them from the cold weather 
>pay no attention to them

>saturday
>the night was cold
>go outside to do some cleaning
>hear screams coming from the lake
>the fluffies you saw last night are there, the water froze in the night and trapped them in the ice 
>go check them out
>there are four fluffies: two earth ponies, one pegasus and one unicorn, all mares 
>one earth pony is dead, frozen to death (I guess the fluffs don't always protect them)
>the other earth pony is still alive, but her tail is frozen stuck to the ice, legs are free 
>"Ow! Ow! Taiw hurt!" she keeps yelling
>the pegasus pony has all four legs frozen firmly to the ice, only her tail is free and she can't move at all 
>she's flapping her wings, "nuuu! fwuffy no move!"
>the unicorn is on her back, her back fluffs are frozen to the ice, her legs flailing uselessly
>"Hewp!" she yells when she sees you
>sigh
>you can't leave them there
>you try to tear the unicorn off. but you only manage to tear off some of her fluffs
>the pony screams, it hurts like hell
>only a couple of fluff patches left, she's almost free
>you decide to go get scissors and some warm water to free them
>go back inside

>it takes you almost half an hour to find a bucket and fill it with warm water 
>get scissors 
>go back outside
>horrible fluffy pony screaming coming from the lake 
>you see a group of kids on the ice 
>get binoculars
>the kids are pushing and kicking the ponies who can't escape!
>the unicorn fluffy is running towards you (as fast as a fluffy can run in snow)
>"Hewp! Hewp! Monsta hoomans!" she yells
>large patches of missing fluff on her back
>she's smart (for a fluffy), she came to you to get help!
>you decide to call her Smarty, you throw her inside, she's safe for now 
>grab a metal pipe and run
>"HEY! WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?!" you shout at the kids and wave the pipe 
>you've never seen kids scatter that fast 
>run to the ponies

>the dead earth pony is still dead
>the kids pushed the pegasus pony sideways, her legs bent and broke
>she's crying like there was no tomorrow, the other wing looks broken and just hangs there
>the other earth pony is laying on her back and crying, there's blood on the ice
>more blood flowing from the tail stub
>her tail snapped off when the kids pushed her, most of her tail is still stuck in the ice 
>"Wy no taiw? My taiw! Huwts!" she cries and pokes her bloody tail stub, "Owww!"
>oh shit...

>carry the crying tailless (you start to call her Tailie) pony inside and stuff her inside old cat carrier 
>head first, she fits nicely in there
>now she can't poke her bloody butt and cause more damage 
>leave her there crying, go back to the lake
>the pegasus lies there, legs in odd angles, crying and fluttering her unbroken wing 
>"Weggie huwt!" she cries
>you know you can't help her, the leg bones will never heal properly 
>you hit her to the head with the metal pipe 
>one hit is enough 
>she's dead
>pour hot water on the legs, ice melts and she's free
>carry the pegasus and the earth pony bodies into the nearby forest for the animals to eat 
>return to your house

>apart from the missing fluff patches Smarty looks fine, but shocked 
>Tailie is harder case, the wound will get infected soon
>you ignore Tailie's screams when you cut off the blood-soaked fluffies and clean the wound 
>you bandage it with stuff you took from the first-aid kit >hope it works
>stuff Tailie back in the carrier so the wound can heal 

>sunday
>examine Tailie's wound 
>it looks better, no infection 
>you let Tailie out of the carrier 
>feed both ponies
>they curl besides you when you go to bed
>on the next morning you drive back to the city and take the fluffies with you 

>later
>eventually Tailie's wound heals, she does not miss her tail anymore (if she even remembers she had one) 
>lake thaws, snow melts and finally, summer
>on one sunny day you take Tailie and Smarty with you and go to the lake 
>you warn them to not go to the water or they'll drown 
>when you get to the shore, Tailie instantly sees something in the water 
>the entire universe must be trolling you, Tailie's tail is floating in the water 
>at the exact same spot where it froze months earlier!
>problem, human?
>it's not possible, but there it is, floating as if nothing had happened!
>Tailie looks at it, looks at her tail stub and ponders for a few seconds as hard as fluffy can 
>"My taiw? MY TAIW!" she realizes 
>"Oh no no no!" you start but it's too late 
>Tailie jumps into the lake
>there's only like 50 cm of water, but that's more than enough to drown a fluffy
>her wet fluffs immediately pull her under the surface
>jump after her, but you lose her
>keep looking
>where the fuck is she?!!
>finally spot her, grab her tail and pull her out of the water 
>too late, she's drowned
>you carry Tailie's body to the forest and say goodbye to her 
>Smarty is in panic, try to calm her down, unsuccessfully 
>go back home
>Smarty is depressed, but soon forgets about Tailie 
>give her lots of cuddling and hugs 
>she's happy again
