"Mhm... I'm having them again, Sunny." >Sunset hums and sits up, mimicking your position. >She wraps an arm around you and leans her head on your shoulder. >"Wanna talk about it, 'Non?" >Her soft voice just barely above a whisper soothes your ears. >You don't want to talk about it. >You meet her question with a silent look away. >"It's okay. I understand. It's scary, y'know? It's..." >She sighs and lets her hand gently rub your other shoulder. >Sunset hums a quiet tune and she slowly rocks side to side with you, gently like a mother with her baby. >Air escapes your nose as you attempt to process your emotions. >The two of you sit in silence as she tries her best to comfort you. >You take her hand and push it back to her. "You don't need to do this, Sunny... I..." >Sunset cuts her humming with a soft but reassuring growl. >She can be stubborn at times. "Sunny..." >You sigh. >"Mhm?" >You shrug her off your shoulder and turn to her. "Do I... Do I really deserve someone like you?" >She turns to you, a soft smile on her face. >Sunset places her hands in yours and gently rubs the back of your palms, slowly drawing circles with her thumbs. "Do I? I'm just... me. I'm not at all that great. You're you. You're perfect. You're... You're everything I could possibly want. A-And I'm just... I'm Anon." >You nearly choke as each word leaves you. "I-I don't want you to ever leave me. The nightmares, you keep leaving and..." >She stares down at your hands and brings them together. >She squeezes them a few times and looks back up at you. >"Anon, do you remember what I told you a few years back?" >How couldn't you? >That was when she confessed to you a while after the both of you graduated. >You look back to the memory. >The two of you ditched the graduation as soon as you took your diplomas. >It's not like either of you had any family to take pictures with. >Your guy friends made a bee line for their proud mothers. >Sunset's friends had their family. >It was just the two of you dumbheads who passed high school and are now independent. >You were the best of friends with Sunset. >The both of you immediately hit it off. >You couldn't explain it, but you just clicked. >You knew where she was and she knew where you were. >So it wasn't a surprise when you both found your way in the gym away from the ceremony as soon as you could. >"Hey 'Non. Nice seeing you in here." "I could say the same. Twi's probably wondering where you went." >She scoffed. >"She's patient. She knows I'll turn up when I do." >You sat beside her and shared a few laughs. >A silence fell on the two of you. >"Hey... Anonymous?" >That's strange. >She rarely uses the full -ymous, unless it's pretty serious. "Mhm, Sunset?" >"There's something on my mind that I wanna say." >She turns to you, her eyes hard and none of the levity from a few seconds ago. >Her mouth opens to speak but the words catch in her mouth. >"I--Um... I like--Fuck it. Straight from the heart." >She clears her throat. >"I... I love you. I love you, Anonymous. I had a feeling when I met you. This strange, fluffy, happy feeling that I get around you." >She balls her fists up and looks at you, eye to eye. >"I know you see yourself as the loner kid in the corner and you never really clicked much with the other guys, but..." >Her words stop for a moment >"With you, I feel a connection that I don't feel with Twi or the others. It's... I want it forever. I want you forever, Anonymous. I love the way your eyes twinkle when I make you smile. I love how you just get me, and I get you! And--" "Sunset--" >"And I want to always make you happy, Anonymous." >After pouring her heart out, she gulps and her posture retreats a little. >"I-I don't want to force anything, but I was wondering if you felt the same way." >You bit your lip and took the plunge. >You pressed yourself against Sunset and kissed her. >That was a few years ago. >A sigh escapes your nose. >"Yeah, I'm still embarrassed about how much I blabbed on." >You chuckled. >"But I meant it, and I mean it now. I want to make you happy, 'Non." >Sunset pecks your cheek. >"And, if it's any consolation, I think you deserve me. Just as I deserve you." >Her hand cups your chin, turning you to face her. >She pulls you close and plants a kiss on your lips. "I love you Sunset." >"I love you too, Anonymous. I truly do."
