You took her out on a date and at the end of the night you just kissed her. You could still remember the feeling of her lips against your own. >You couldn’t stop smiling the next day but then Rarity started avoiding and you soon lost that smile. >You can’t help but think you’ve messed up your friendship with her. >”Excuse me?” >You snap out of your train of thought and turn to the old stallion. “How can I help, sir?” >”Well I asked for no sugar in my tea but I can taste some.” “Sorry, must have been a mix up.” >You give him a smile as you take his cup and head to the kitchen but again you’re interrupted. >”Excuse my food still hasn’t come yet.” “I’m sorry, I’ll see what’s taking the chef so long.” >Once you’re in the kitchen you look around for Berry Punch, who is meant to be cooking but is nowhere in sight. >You walk out the back to find her drifting to sleep. You just rub your eyes and groan in frustration. “Berry! You’re meant to be cooking.” >She snaps to and rubs her sleepy eyes. >”Heh, sorry Anon, it’s been a long day.” “I know, come on, just a little while longer and we’re finished.” >”You going drinking after work?” “People are waiting on food, Berry,” you reply, making sure to convey your frustration in your tone. >”Alright, alright. Jeez, you’re no fun.” >You don’t reply, you just make another tea for the old stallion. >When you’ve finally finished all the orders and closed up for the night, you head off to the bar. >”HEY! Anon, you heading for a drink?” “Yeah, you?” >”You know it. Want a drinking buddy for the night?” ”I’m not sure I should be drinking with-” >”Afraid I’m going to drink your flank under the table, ay?” >She looks at you with a cocky grin and it’s annoying the hell out of you, you’d love nothing more than to wipe that grin right off her face right now. “That’s it. You’re on.” >She squees then the two of you head off to the bar. > Berry is on a barstool ordering a drink the moment you walk through the door. You take your seat beside her and order one too. >The two of you drink in silence for the most part, until Berry gets drunk off her ass, then she chews your ear off. >”So Anon, I heard some juicy gossip about you.” >Her giggly, upbeat also drunk attitude is a little infectious. “Oh really?” >Berry giggles before turning to you and singing out loud for everyone in the bar to hear. >”ANON AND RARITY SITTING IN A TREE! K-I-S-S--” >You cover her mouth with your hand but she still sings that damn song despite it now being muffled. >Everyone in the bar is staring at you and Berry; you give them an apologetic smile before turning to Berry. You can tell underneath your hand she has a big shit-eating grin. >Now you remember why you don’t drink with her anymore. >She licks your hand and you quickly pull it away and wipe her saliva onto your shirt. “Berry, that’s disgusting.” >She bursts into a giggling fit. “I’d appreciate if you didn’t let everyone know about what happened between Rarity and I.” >She gives you a salute before slowly falling backwards off her stool and onto the floor. >”Good night Captain Anon.” >You return the salute as she passes out for the night. >You return to your own drink. A few minutes later the pony known as Rainbow Dash flutters in and takes a seat next to you. >She received Fluttershy’s cutie mark and tends to the animals, she still hasn’t given up on being a Wonderbolt, yet. “Hey Rainbowshy, how’s things?” >”Hey Anon, thought I’d come check up on you.” “Why?” >”Well I know Rarity has been avoiding you ever since that night you two-” “Is there anyone who doesn’t know about that?” >Your good mood was short lived. >”Rarity is one of Ponyville’s biggest gossips.” “Good point.” >”So how’re you holding up?” “Take a guess.” >You’ve had enough of feeling sorry for yourself so down the rest of your drink before turning to Shy version 2.0. “I’m going to see Rarity, you coming?” >You stand to walk out of the bar but Rainbowshy hovers in front of you, blocking the way. >”Anon, it’s late and you’re drunk.” “Exactly, which means this is a great idea. Let’s go.” >”I’m not going with you, you’re going to get in big trouble.” “I’m not waiting around for Rarity to come to me anymore.” >You stare into her eyes; she can tell you’re serious. She lands and steps out of the way without a word so you head to Rarity’s. --- >When you arrive at Rarity’s you hold your hand to knock but you pause, you have no idea what to say to her. >Then a branch snaps behind you, spinning around you see Sweetie Belle standing wide-eyed like a deer staring into headlights. You can see the terror written all over her face as she begins to sweat like a waterfall. >”I uh, you... here t-to visit Rarity?” “Explain.” >You give her a stern look. She folds and hastily explains. >”I was with the girls, we wanted to try and get our Cutie Marks in lantern making but we had to wait until night to-.” “Which room is Rarity’s?” >”What! Why?” “I’m going to give you a distraction so you can sneak in.” >The little filly latches onto your leg, “Oh thank you, thank you, thank-” “SHH! You’ll wake her, now which is it?” >She points to a window upstairs. Looking around you notice a nearby tree that has a branch extending towards her window. There’s your way up. >You walk to the tree before Sweetie Belle nervously speaks up. >”Are you sure about this?” “Yup, just remember, you owe me big for this.” >She nods profusely as you begin to climb the tree, bear hug style. >As you shimmy your way up, you can hear the snickers of the little filly. You probably look stupid but with no branches immediately in reach you have no choice. >You look down and see that you’ve scaled the tree most of the way, it’s also taller than you realised now that you’re up here. >When you reach the branch that extends to Rarity’s window you carefully step onto it and immediately hear it creak and shift under your weight. >It’s a long way down so if this branch can’t support you then it’s not going to end well. >You reach out and knock on the window, a moment later a nervous Rarity opens it. >You can see the startled confusion written all over her face, that or you’ve had one too many, probably both. >”An-Anon, what are you doing?” “I just thought I’d drop in and say hi also to ask why you’re avoiding me?” >”Never mind that! Climb down before you hurt yourself.” >You don’t feel it move but you hear the branch give a loud audible snap. “Let me in!” >You don’t give her time to respond as you’re already climbing in, you’re about halfway through the window in when the branch finally falls. >”Anon!” >Her angered tone causes you to freeze in place. >”You could have hurt yourself, what are you doing?” “Coming to see you, you have been avoiding me after all.” >You can read her guilt-ridden face like a book as she shrinks away at your remark. >”I-I’m terribly sorry-” “Well, why have you been?” >You raised your voice more than you should have and Rarity backs away once again. >”Anon, I’m sorry.” “Stop apologising and tell me why.” >”Because I’m scared,” she shouts back at you and this time you’re taken aback, “I don’t want to hurt your feelings.” >Your feel a pang in your chest as you get up to leave. “Well then I’m the one who is sorry.” >You reach out for the door when Rarity pushes you away from it and stands between you and it. >”Don’t go,” you stare at the worried white mare as you try and think why, “I didn’t mean it like that. I-I meant...” >She traces circles with her hoof and stares at the floor, trying to avoiding any eye contact. >”I’m just nervous beca-” >You just roll your eyes as you lift her up into your arms. >”WHA-What are you doing?” >Carrying her over to her bed, you lift up the blanket and climb in while still holding her close to you. >You warmly embrace her as you get comfortable. She’s about to say something but you interrupt her. “Sleep now, talk later.” >This elicits a giggle from Rarity as she shifts closer to you, burrowing into your chest. You can feel her heartbeat against your own and hear her soft breathing as she drifts to sleep and you soon follow.
