"Hup!" >You stand fully erect, grinning to yourself. >See? No problem! >However, as soon as you step forward, the world spins wildly. "Crap." >You fall back down onto the bed. >Hopefully, Fluttershy won't see you suffering. >"Daddy! Wake up, wake up, wake up!" >Your ears twitch at the voice calling you. >You turn your attention to the doorway. >Standing there is your beautiful satyr daughter, Ivy. >Her long, pink hair reaches down to her back. >She's actually your second alarm clock. >Her smiling face soon changes to a worried one. >"Daddy?" she says. "Hm? What is it?" you reply, blinking slowly. >It's getting hard to focus. >"Is something wrong?" Ivy asks with a concerned voice. "Mmhmm... I'm fine." >Ivy gives you a sharp look, one filled with doubt. >Before you can speak, to reassure your daughter, Ivy presses her forehead against yours. >"Daddy, you're burning up." she says, moving back. >You laugh, trying to play it cool. "I'm just a little hot, really!" you say, trying to convince your daughter. >However, she knows you're lying. >"I'm going to get Mommy!" >Your eyes widen in horror. "No, no, no, no, no, no!" you protest. "Ivy, that's not necessary!" >You stop her from running off. >If Fluttershy knew, then she would spend the entire day nursing you back to health. >You don't want that. It may seem like heaven, but the yellow Pegasus tends to go overboard.   1     >"C-can I take care of you then?" Ivy asks, twisting her hoof leg around which signifies her nervousness. >You're surprised at the question. "What? How come?" >"Because Mommy always takes care of you, and I want to do it, too!" she says, looking determined >You smile. >It seems you have no choice. Your daughter is confident. "Alright, Ivy. You can take care of me." >"Yippie!" Ivy shouts, jumping onto the bed. >Ivy begins to pull off your shirt. "Mmmph!" >Fluttershy would ask you nicely to remove your clothes; Ivy, however, decided to take the forceful route. >Perhaps she's too excited. >"Lay down, Daddy!" she commands. >You obey your daughter's orders. "Ugh..." >The fever seems to have increased, making you feel woozy. "Ivy, do you know what to do?" >"Um... I think so," she says, placing her soft hands onto your forehead. "You need to cool down!" >Ivy scurries off to the kitchen, leaving you alone for a brief moment. >You close your eyes. >Was it wise to let Ivy treat you? She is still a child who watched from the sidelines, but her maturity holds strong. >Suddenly, you feel a freezing sensation running across your face. "GAAAH!!" you scream, opening your eyes. >There's an icepack lying near your head. >Ivy is hiding behind the bed, looking frightened. >S-s-sorry, Daddy," she says quietly. "I thought it would be better to use something colder..." "Ivy," you say in a calm voice, "a wet towel will be more than enough." >Ivy gives a bashful nod, grabs the icepack, and hurries off. >"Ah!" she yells, juggling the icepack with her hands. >You chuckle to yourself. >She's just like her mother, panicking over the little things. >You close your eyes again, awaiting for the next trial.   2     >Ivy returns with a towel dipped into a bowl of cold water. >She places the bowl onto the small drawer, beside the bed. >As the towel is being wring, the sound of excessive water dripping into bowl relaxes you. >Shortly after, you feel a sense of coolness. "That's the way, Ivy," you say, praising her. "Thank you." >You open one eye and reach your arm out, placing it onto Ivy's head. >"Hehe..." Ivy giggles as you pet her. She then asks, "I-is there something else I need to do?" "You already know, Ivy," you reply. "Just make sure I get the necessary rest." >"Mm! Okay!" >Time ticks away. >*Clank! Clank!* >A loud noise has awaken you. "Oof..." you say, shutting your eyes shut. >You feel worse. >Only thirty minutes has passed. Why does it feel like two hours went on by? >"AHH!" >You scramble to your feet and rush to the kitchen, where the noise is coming from. "Yikes!" you say, entering the kitchen. >Black smoke arises from the pot on the stove. >You run to the stove and turn it off, preventing the fire from spreading. "Ivy," you say. "Are yo-..." >"I-I'm sorry!" Ivy interrupts. "I didn't mean to!" >She darts away. >You grab the pot by the handle and place it under the faucet. >Ivy wanted to make soup for you, to build up your strength; however, her ability to cook hasn't been perfected. >After you shut off the water and make your way to Ivy's room, you stumble. "Ugh..." you say, rubbing the side of your head. >You take a breath and continue to move forward.   3     "Ivy?" you ask, knocking on her door. "I'm coming in." >You open the door and enter. >Your eyes divert to the body hiding behind the bed. "Ivy?" >"Ah..." she says, cowering further. >She must think you're here to scold her because of her reckless action. >Very rarely, you would raise your voice, unless disciplining, but you did so in a calm, rational manner. >Do you remember the time when Ivy entered the Everfree Forest to help the injured animals without your or Fluttershy's supervision? >You were upset and worried, but, at the same time, you felt relieved. >Still, any kind of scolding puts Ivy in a sensitive mood. >You walk over to your sheepish daughter. >She jumps as you place your hand on top of her head. "Ivy," you say, petting her gently. "Are you alright?" >Ivy looks at you with those tear-filled eyes, melting your heart away. >"Y-you're not angry at me?" she asks softly. "Of course not." you reply with a smile. "I know you wanted to help maintain my strength to fight the fever, but you're still learning. You'll improve if you take it slow." >"R-really?" "Most definitely!" >Ivy's cheerful mood returns. "Now," you say, "shall we return to my bed? I could use another cooldown." >"Mm!" Ivy responds, jumping up excitingly. >She pulls your hand, deciding to take the lead. >Once again, you lay down on the bed. >As soon as Ivy starts the wet towel routine, you begin to drift away. >You know everything will be fine.   4     >Several hours pass. >You awaken to Fluttershy's worried face. "AH!" you scream. >You're still not used to her behavior. >"Oh, Anon!" she says, nuzzling your cheek. "How are you feeling?" >You laugh, feeling her ticklish touch. I-I'm... pff... fine," you reply. "A little warm, but Ivy did a wonderful job taking care of me." >"I know," Fluttershy says, pulling back. "She told me, and she wants to ask you something." >You turn your attention to Ivy who is approaching slowly. >"Um..." she hesitates. "Could... could I take care of you tomorrow, too? >You smile. "Absolutely, Ivy," you reply, "to your heart's content." >Ivy leaps into your arms, catching you off guard. "Whoa!" >"Don't forget about me," Fluttershy says, giving you another nuzzle. "I'll make sure to teach her well." >You freeze up. >No. >No! >Nononononononono! >Ivy herself would have been sufficient. >Fluttershy entering the scene, when you're sick, makes you tired and weak. >She would constantly pamper you, making you feel very uncomfortable. >To you, it is known as a state of Purgatory. >And with Ivy joining in contributes more trouble for you. >"We'll do our best to help you recover, Daddy!" Ivy says, looking up at you. >At that moment, as you stare back into your daughter's cyan eyes, you realize how lucky you are. >Having both Fluttershy and Ivy caring for you brings joy to your heart.   5/5
