  4. Dead thread. Posting something I wrote a while back.
  5.
  6. >You are laying in bed staring at your alarm cursing your ability to wake up before it even goes off
  7. >"BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEE-"click""
  8. >You turn the alarm off and head to the shower
  9. >Your one weekend off and you have to spend it hiking with your family
  10. >And they wonder how you don't have a life or a girlfriend
  11. >Every day is work or recovering from it. Fucking factory job
  12. >You went through four years of college for nothing
  13. >Your biology masters degree wasted on making parts for cars
  14. >Going to your closet you grab your favorite hiking gear
  15. >The outdoors has always been your true home and you used to hike all the time
  16. >However its hell making ends meat anymore and you could use rest more than a hike
  17. >But your sister asked you and you have never been able to turn her down and she knows it
  18. >Grabbing your hiking pack you make sure the basics are still there.
  19. >MREs? Check. Fire starter? Check, Fishing line and hooks? Check. Dynamo flashlight? Check. Medpack? Check. Emergency Blanket? Check. Knife? In pocket so check.
  20. >A couple of emergency bottles of water later and a spare change of clothes and you are ready to go
  21. >You text your family that you are on your way
  22. >A couple hours later you arrive at your destination
  23. >As you open your trunk you hear a yell "ANON!" as your tackled from behind
  24. >"Hey sis!" you say as she lets go of you. God she is 15 now isnt she? Its still amazing that she is not that little shadow that followed you around for years
  25. >At eight years younger than you she always seemed unusually close to you
  26. >Your parents get out of the car and wave at you
  27. >About ten minutes of conversation later and you are off down the trail
  28. >Ground is a little wet. It must have rained overnight
  29. >OK I know I complained about coming but this is nice
  30. >Its calm and beautiful, the birds are out and I have never seen it like this.
  31. >Its like everything is more vibrant. Yet...it feels less real then you think.

  40. >You see something strange through a break in the limbs
  41. >Something big just flew by. Impossibly big.
  42. >You don't say anything because fuck what would you say
  43. >Instead you tell them to keep resting you are going to look at something
  44. >Heading down a side path that leads down the side of the ridge you cant help but wonder what you saw
  45. >you hear a loud screech and a cry of "HELP!" and look up. That shape is flying directly overhead now and You get a damn good look at it
  46. >Huge and scaled with large bat-like wings a long neck. Red and grey. It has a large..creature grasped between its claws
  47. >And at that moment is when you officially went insane
  48. >I mean you KNOW what you are seeing has to be but it cant be
  49. >Because you know...dragons don't exist
  50. >The screech must have been the large...
  51. >Head, wings, and forelegs of an eagle, rear body of a lion.
  52. >That is even more impossible, you cant remember the name for it though
  53. >At this point the shock of what you saw has now subsided and your brain enters emergency resoponse mode

  65. >Blackness. All around you is blackness
  66. >then your eyes shoot open above you is sky and then
  67. >A dragon flies overhead and a gryphon, yes that's what its called, cries for help
  68. >Three gryphons come out of nowhere and claw at the dragon. A roar of rage and it dropped the one it held
  69. >Faster than you can believe it turns midair to breath a blue-white flame that the gryphons barely dodge
  70. >The gryphon that was dropped tries to fly away but...it looks like its wings are injured
  71. >At this point you realize that damn gryphon is going to crash into you!
  72. >scrabbling to get up the gryphon crashes into the ground a few feet from you before you can make it to your knees
  73. >INSTINCTS ACTIVATE
  74. >Looking around you see there are some kind of ruins that you can hide in if you are quick.
  75. >One mad dash later you are standing inside the doorway of a crumbling tower thing
  76. >The gryphon on the ground is not moving but the fight overhead is starting to heat up.
  77. >One gryphon keeps making quick attacks at the dragons head and underbelly as the other two attack its wings and back
  78. >The dragon looks like it is starting to get tired when it gets a good strike at the on in front of it
  79. >You can hear the sound of those claws hitting as the gryphon drops
  80. >A nearby moan makes you look and the gryphon on the ground is starting to get up
  81. >Its tawny wings were slightly blackened and you could see hair and feathers burned away at spots, probably from the dragon, and that's why it could not fly
  82. >A roar draws both of your attentions to the sky where the dragon seems to have gotten rid of the two other gryphons. The dragon is looking this way now.
  83. >A cry shows the gryphon on the ground cowering when you hear
  84. "N-n-no! Please no!"
  85. >With such terror that it leaves you feeling cold.
  86. >That gryphon can talk. Not only can it talk but its obviously a girl from that voice.
  87. >Even worse, it sounds like your sister

  97. >She looks at you for a moment. You think you can see surprise and confusion wash over that face before another roar sounds
  98. >She bolts for the door and squeezing past you (trying not to touch you) she gets inside
  99. >You run inside after her and as you get about three steps in the door you feel the thud resound through the building as the dragon lands
  100. >You manage a couple of more steps before you feel something catch your backpack and slam you against the wall
  101. "LITTLE GRYPHON! LITTLE GRYPHON COME OUT AND PLAY!"
  102. >Resounds through the building as the dragon drags you across the wall by your pack
  103. >You fumble with the straps trying to get the claps undone as you struggle against the pulling.
  104. >At the last possible second the strap over your left shoulder snaps throwing you out of the pack
  105. >Stumbling you make it to the opposite side of the room from the door, your wrist is aching from getting smacked against the wall
  106. >Next to you the gryphon is in the fetal position shaking
  107. >She must be scared out of her mind
  108. >The tower shudders as the dragon shifts and you see an eye at the door
  109. "Huh looks like a second treat has arrived! Don't think you are safe. I can always just incinerate you with my flame or tear this tower down to get to you! So how about you come out and I will make your deaths quick! HA HA HA!
  110. >That laugh was like boulders rolling down a hill
  111. >It shook the tower and you suddenly don't doubt that he could follow-through with his threat
  112. >What to do? I cant fight because I am like 1/20th this things size and I have no weapons
  113. >I cant run because its blocking the only exit. Nowhere to hide either.
  114. >Can I bargain? Worth a shot
  115. >"Wait why do you want to eat me? Surely four gryphons would be enough to feed a magnificent beast like you!"

  124. >Crap this bastard knows he has you right where he wants you. Maybe I can trick him?
  125. >"Ahh but what if I am poisonous? You don't want to die for such a small meal as me!"
  126. >A rumbling chuckle shakes the building
  127. "Ah well you must not know that dragons can eat ANYTHING! You may be poisonous but it would be worth the bellyache!"

  132. >Does that dragon sound...cowed? What could scare a- "Did that dragon just say princess?" you say out loud in confusion.

  151. >A beautiful pegasi with a horn is in the chariot. Her mane and tail are an aurora of shifting colors caught in a breeze that is not there. She is wearing a gold necklace thing with a large purple gem and a golden crown. Her flank is emblazoned with a sun. She is twice the size of the pegasi around her and the only one sporting a horn. She is the most striking creature you have ever seen.
  152. >In the air around her are about two dozen other pegasi all dressed in gold armor
  153. >You see her looking down upon the gryphon (Ambassador Lightfeather?) and she is seems to be furious then her look cools to one of concern when she hops down off her chariot and says
  154. "Ingrid dear are you ok? Where are your guards?"
  155. >As she asks that she starts looking around and spots you. Her horn starts to glow and...suddenly you cant move. At all.
  156. >Magic. Yep you are crazy. A magic flying talking unicorn horse.
  157. "And WHAT is that?" She asks pointing her hoof at you. You also notice a large number of pegasi head over from the group and surround you.
  158. >Ingrid looks at you and says

  161. >For some reason the pain in your wrist is getting worse but you cant look to see why
  162. "I thank you for that." Celestia says. "I would hate for something to have happened to my friend."
  163. > The glowing around you stops and you understand why your wrist is hurting. From the angle its currently at it looks like you broke it.
  164. >I think my wrist is broken" you say as you begin to shake. The sudden realization of everything that has happened seems to be sending you into shock

Your foreleg would have been repaired but the doctors decided to play it safe as we don't know how your body responds to magical healing. They used their magic to set the bones and start the healing process. It was their opinion this would be safer for you in the long run"

  293. "We chose to live in that place because it was an extremely magical spot. Certain" She seems to search for a word "occurrences would happen occasionally. A pony would disappear and reappear years later without having aged a day or knowing anything had happened. Sometimes magic happened there without a unicorn to use it. An earth pony might need something out of reach and it would float to them."
  294. >She seems to brood on this for a moment. You are ask her what she means by earth pony.
  295. "Earth ponies are ponies without wings or a horn they are born with incredible resilience and a connection with nature. Unicorns are ponies born with a horn. They have access to to magic using the horn as a conduit. Pegasi are ponies born with wings. They have a natural connection with the sky and weather. Ponies like me are called Alicorns. There are very few of us and we are the rulers of our kind. We have the gifts of all the kinds of ponies and then some more. We are bound to use our powers to help our people."
  296. >That is a lot to take in. Innate powers from birth. That reminds you. "What are those marks you all have on your...sides"
  297. "Ahh those are cutie marks. When each pony discovers their special talent their own mark appears. Each mark is unique to each pony however some are very similar."
  298. >OK that seems pretty cool. You KNOW your talent as soon as you discover it. That would help back on earth choosing college majors.
  299. >You then begin to wonder what yours would look like when you remember that Celestias talent was a sun. What kind of special power does she have?
  300. "Back to how you got here. After I had a...falling out with my sister the magic of that place began to grow beyond control. It was unsafe as a single spell could cause massive problems so I moved my capital here to keep my people safe. I think that the magic of that place may have bled into your world. Would you say that you wanted to escape from your life?"

  307. >Wow. I mean your life sucked but did you really want out? Yes. Yes you did. You wanted something to get you out of that dead end job. Anything at all. Well congratulations you got what you wanted.
  308. >"Yeah. I wanted to escape the life I had there. I wanted to start a new life where I would be useful to others." you say quietly.
  309. "Sometimes a hard life can make you wish to start over" she says to you.
  310. >Was she trying to comfort you? You look up and see a smile on her face. She actually cares. This princess from another world cares that you were suffering.
  311. >You smile at her and nod. You feel much better....feel
  312. >You turn to Ingrid and ask "How are you feeling Ambassador Lightfeather?"
  313. "I am fine thank you." She says after looking at you for a moment. "No really thank you for yesterday. I do not think I would have survived if you had not got me into those ruins."
  314. >"How were your guards?" you ask her quietly.
  315. She looks down and says "Two were fine just a little beaten up. However the one who was distracting the dragon and got hit." She seems to wince "He did not make it."
  316. >You shake your head "I am sorry for your loss."
  317. "Thank you." she says
  318. >Princess Celestia looks at her with a look of sadness on her face and says
  319. "Ingrid he will be remembered. From what you both said he will be hailed as a hero and buried in the Kingsyard."
  320. >You look at her inquisitively
  321. "The Kingsyard is the burial place of the kings of the Gryphon Kingdom. Anyone who gives their life heroically in protection of the royal family or its servants is given a special burial there. It is one of the highest honers they can receive."
  322. >Ahh well that pretty damn cool.
  323. "Now Anonymous, did I say that correctly?" you nod "We need to decide what to do with you."

  329. >Well now that is a good question. What Is going to happen to you?
  330. "As much as I would like you to stay here to answer more questions about your world I a little too busy to teach you about our world. Besides I do not believe Canterlot would be a good place for you. The people in this city are...not very open to new things" she says with a smile.
  331. "Pigheaded about it even" says Ingrid with a sniff and a weak smile. "He would be welcomed at the Gryphon kingdom. He saved me so I know my uncle would not turn him away."
  332. >her uncle, Does that mean she is the niece to the king. Woo friends in high places already.
  333. "Yes dear he would be welcomed there but how would he get there. I cannot spare the pegasi to take him especially with the dragons acting how they are. You will not be returning for a few months either.' She says sadly.
  334. >Not welcome in the city and unable to go where I would be welcome. What are they going to do with me?
  335. "Wait! I have the perfect idea." The princess exclaims suddenly. "I can send him to Ponyville! My student Twilight Sparkle and her friends can keep an eye on them and teach him what he needs to know and she can report back to me on any questions I have. Besides that she is the best bet for you getting back home if you desire to."
  336. >Ponyville? Twilight? I wonder why she will be my best bet for getting back. Oh well best not complain.
  337. >"So am I more likely to be accepted in this Ponyville?" You ask
  338. "Quite so." she responds "Many people who used to live in Canterlot but found it too...well stuck up would be the blunt way to say it live there. Twilight can help fit in there as well. And she is one of the most powerful unicorns in Equestria when it comes to raw magical powers." She looks at your hand. "You better wait a week or so to get that cast off before you go."
  339. >She breaks into talking quietly to herself as papers fly over to her and a quill starts writing furiously

  346. "When I return to the Gryphon Kingdom I would like you to accompany me. At least for a trip if you do not wish to stay. I know my uncle King Goldwing would like to meet you and learn of your homeland as well and I still have not gotten to appropriately thank you for your help" She smiles.
  347. >Did she just flirt with you? Probably not. On second thought it was just her probably thanking you again for what you did.
  348. >Before you can think much about it your stomach starts to grumble
  349. "Oh dear I completely forgot dinner. You are welcome to join us if you wish. Oh but what types of foods do humans eat?"
  350. >"Well most types vegetables, fruits, meats, cheeses, grai..." You see Celestia eying you with apprehension.
  351. >You quickly say "We don't eat hor-Ponies. We eat mostly cattle, chickens, pigs, and fish"
  352. "Well...Cows are intelligent in this world as are pigs and chickens." She looks at you like this may have been a bad idea. "But fish are a common staple of gryphons are are available here. I will have to set up some things to have them available at Ponyville as well. You best keep that you eat anything other than fish as a secret however. Some would not take well to it" She calls over a servant and sends for food
  353. >Well that was dumb. Next time I need to think before I talk about that shit.
  354. "Dont worry Anonymous" Says Ingrid "Us Gryphons eat other meats as well. We understand the way you are feeling. However we are not savages. Like yours our bodies require certain things. We mainly favor fish because they are easy to catch in large numbers. There are some creatures that are no smarter than fish that we eat however almost all are not found in Equestria and the ones that are, are so rare its not worth trying to find them.

  360. >A few minutes of idle chat, mostly questions about your world, later and a serving pony comes in with your meals. For the princess a salad that would be appetizing without the flowers. For you and Ingrid bread, cheese, sliced well seasoned fish, and some sort of vegetable that you have never seen before but was quite good.
  361. >When you are done eating the princess looks at both of you and says
  362. "Well the sun has set and Luna has raised the moon. I believe it is late enough for us all to get some rest." She says with a yawn.
  363. >Luna has raised the moon? What? Well she looks tired so that is a question for later.
  364. >"Am I to return to the hospital?" you ask hesitantly.
  365. "Oh dear no" Celestia says with a smile. "I have had a room prepared for you here in the castle."
  366. "I can show them where they are" Ingrid says "He is in the minotaur suite two rooms down from mine right?" Celestia nods and thanks Ingrid and leaves the room
  367. "I am not very tired yet" Ingrid says "How about you?" she asks
  368. >You don't feel tired but you don't know what she has in mind "Not really. Why Ambassador?"
  369. "I was wondering if you wanted to learn about the gryphon Kingdom and our culture? And call me Ingrid" She says smiling at you.
  370. >"I would love to" You say "And call me Anon."
  371. >For the next hour or so she teaches you about the gryphon kingdom. How they live in mountainous areas but hunt grasslands. How those sources of meat she was tell you about were Rhinos and Elephants. About their close relationship with the Zebra Kingdom. She tells you about the royal family and the king. She seemed to really enjoy telling you about it even though she looked a little sad when she brought up guards while telling a story about her sister.
  372. >Finally you both start yawning and decide to hit the sack. She shows you to your room.

  378. >Its a large room decorated with what seem like tribal decorations. The bed fits you but seems designed for something a foot or two taller than you. You also notice the carvings in the wall are simplistic but seem...well you would not call them erotic but questionable would fit. All of minotaurs in various compromising positions or holding the heads of enemies. You cant help but feel that this is what they were comparing you too. Maybe that is why they were surprised when you were nice. Oh well its not that late but you are unusually tired. You will think more about this tomorrow. For now the sleep hits you quick when you hit the pillows and you are filled with peace.

  380. This is the first thing I had ever written at all. Trying to decide if I should re-write it and continue the story. If you could not tell it will be eventually about Anon and Gilda.
